A/N: In which goodbyes are spoken.

Erza had her arms around herself, the thin blouse doing little to protect her from the biting cold of the winter night. Jellal stood in front of her, finishing preparing his travelling gear and putting on his boots.

"I wish you didn't have to go," she couldn't help but whisper, her words barely heard over the whistles of the midnight winds. Jellal glanced up at her as he finished lacing his boots, standing back up and moving over to her.

"I wish I didn't have to go either," he agreed, smiling sadly down at his wife. They had married mere days ago, keeping it a secret from the world. Ever since the guild had disbanded, she had been travelling with his guild, only recently deciding to branch off and train on her own. Before she did that, though, he had finally found the courage to propose and the duo had married in a rundown village with no one to witness the act except Meredy. He knew Erza was feeling down about the fact her own friends and family weren't there to see it, but he promised her someday they would have a big wedding with the world watching on. She had smiled and told him she didn't need anything but him at their wedding, and that's exactly what she had gotten.

"You don't need to train by yourself, you know," he brought up the aging topic in one, last futile attempt to get her to come with him again. "You can train by yourself but travel with the others and myself."

She chuckled. "You and I both know how distracting you can be."

He had to agreed, a sheepish smile making its way onto his face. The duo stood there for a moment, simply enjoying each other's presence, before Jellal dipped down and pressed a firm, lasting kiss against her forehead, brushing a stray lock of hair out of her face.

"I love you," he whispered softly. She gazed up at him, a twinkle in her eye as she pressed her lips against his in a final farewell.

"I love you too," she murmured. "I'll see you in a bit."

And then they were off, walking in separate directions but with smiles on their faces.
