He hadn't stop, hadn't look, and hadn't even acknowledge her. Just kept walking brushing past her in his rush to leave, which left her stunned and hurt… and frightened. She had never seen him look so void and emotionless, face frozen in an impassive mask that had even InuYasha's hand twitching over the hilt of his sword.

"I will keep an eye on him Kagome, worry not." Itsuki spoke for the first time as he placed himself beside her, eyeing Shinobu warily as he disappeared down the shrine steps.

"Will… will he be alright?"

He looked down at her, his face giving nothing away. "I could lie if it would put you at ease."

"I suppose that is answer enough." She could feel tears of frustration and exhaustion welling in her eyes, but she refused to let them fall at least until she was alone.

"The fuck is going on?" InuYasha having finally had enough yelled.

"Sit. I don't have the energy to deal with you now InuYasha, just go home."

Itsuki eyed the half demon wearily. "You will be alright alone with him?"

"InuYasha may be a jerk but he wouldn't hurt me."

"Hmm."

"Just keep an eye on Shinobu please."

"Of that I can assure you." And with that he too was gone.
