Hotaru slept on the way home; her quite snoring putting us both at ease.
"You know…you're so gentle with her. It was honestly surprising to see...you're a natural with kids." Michiru stated causing heat to crawl into my face.
"I just always could handle kids better than people. They're less judgmental." I replied, shrugging slightly as I glanced into the rearview mirror again.
"You just never acted like you liked anyone…let alone kids." Michiru stated, earning a chuckle
"Well miss rich girl I never thought that you'd be the motherly type either." I retorted, earning an eye roll from my girlfriend.
"Judging by appearance Haruka. I'm not just some prissy rich girl that needs prince charming to swoop in to save me." She stated, a smirk coming over her face as she glanced over at me.
When we got home Michiru put Hotaru to bed while I set about making lunch.
"You know you are so much different than I thought you would be. I always liked you but I never imagined how gentle you actually are." Michiru stated as she came into the kitchen, causing me to chuckle.
"Well grow up like I did and you'd act like you had a stick up your ass too." I retorted, watching as her brows knitted together.
"I know that you were adopted by Meioh-sama but I never knew how long or why." She stated, causing me to sigh and turn back to the window.
"My parents died in a car crash a long time ago. I was with them….my grandparents put me in foster care because they thought I should have died too. My foster families were anything but nice until I came to live with Setsuna. She put up with my shit until I could open up to her." I admitted, feeling her hand enveloping my shoulder.
"I am so sorry…I didn't have any idea." She began, her voice thick with emotion as I turned to face her.
"No, it's okay…that's kind of why I am so protective of Hotaru. I want to give her the childhood that I didn't get the chance to have." I stated, only to be pulled into a hug.
