She was distantly aware of Shinobu's approach, and wished she could gather enough of herself to care. But pain, a sensation she hadn't felt in nearly five centuries coursed through her incorporeal form leaving her with little to grasp on to. An eternity may have been what it felt like, but hours were truly all it was since she had given into to her living counter parts wishes the previous night granting her knowledge and power; enough to stitch Shinobu's mind together in some semblance of its previous wholeness, but even before that she had, had to upset the wells magic in order to force Kagome to return from the past. Doing so had the adverse effect burned through her natural powers and eating away at her soul leaving her in her current sorry state.
So here she was languid and scattered about the clearing, with hardly enough energy to keep her memories in line let alone form a single coherent thought.
And so close to the death she had long hoped for.
Can't…
I can't…. die.
Not now…
The irony was not lost on her.
