It was stupid of her not to have noticed, not to have realized just how much power Shinobu had forced her to intake. She certainly noticed now when she found herself roughly pushed up against the bark of the tree.
He had made her tangible.
"When we met you told me I walked a terrible path." Nearly nose to nose with her now she could feel his angry pants as they hit her face. "Now tell me, what path is that?" She creased her brows and attempted to conjure the memory of her first meeting with him.
And found him to be correct.
It was as he said she had told him, admittedly offhandedly, that she had seen where his fate lay. With a sigh she seemed to deflate, her earlier bravado leaving her. "I can't"
"Lies!" He pressed her harder into the tree.
She gave an indignant huff. "I can only see as far as I've lived." He seemed to shift again, this time settling for a simmering anger.
He backed away as her released her. "Explain."
"I think it's rather self explanatory Shinobu, in several months my living counterpart will die. When I look at someone I can only see their future up to the point where I pass. So no Shinobu I don't know the extent of what the Gods are willing you too do."
His voice was a quiet menace that broke her heart. "Then tell me what you do know."
I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned this but... I absolutely hate Shinobu, for some reason I find his character to be very... shallow. Though admittedly I find everything after the Dark Tournament to be kinda bleh.
Anyway on a brighter note this story has surpassed my story Simple in both views and reviews, though it has nowhere near the amount of favorites or watchers... still, thank you all so much!
