A/N: In which Jellal is forced to endure the one pain he cannot take.
Death had her in its shadowy grip.
With a wet gasp, she fell onto her knees, katana clattering as it hit the floor. All around her, time seemed to stop; fights, magic even, froze as she fell onto her knees, kneeling over as she began coughing up blood. A deep-red stain blossomed across her abdomen, the gaping wound horrific to look at.
Jellal could only stare in horror but his legs began moving when she fell. "Erza!" The broken cry fell from his lips as he pulled her body into his arms, desperately trying to slow down the blood spilling out of her body.
"Je…llal…I-"
"Sh, Scarlet, please don't speak," he cried, feeling tears slip down his cheeks. She had saved his life, for what?! "Wh..Why?! Damn it Erza, why?!"
"You…can live for the both of us," she smiled, coughing and spilling more blood down her chin. The dark liquid ran down her chin in rivulets, staining her porcelain skin a dirty, dirty colour.
"No!" He nearly growled, bending his lips forward and kissing her in a frenzy. "Erza, don't you fucking leave me!"
"I…" a full-body shudder ran through her body and suddenly, she found it hard to keep her eyes open. With every last bit of strength she had in her, she spoke her last words. "T-Tell the others I…I'm sorry. And I…I love you, Jellal. You were always my everything, even when you were gone. I…I hope in another time, we…we can be together. Remember, you'll always have my heart. I…I'll tell Simon you're sorry, alright?"
With that, her eyes closed for the last time and her heart had its last beat.
Jellal's broken screams and cries filled the silent void.
