Chapter 55: The Temptation of Sound

That night, Tony couldn't sleep and so he left his empty family home. The streets were unusually darker since Megara decided to conserve the territory's electricity until it could be properly fixed and a full moon shone. Then from a dark alley emerged four figures wearing hooded jackets that had a yin-yang shaped symbol on them, and purple sashes around their waists. They approached Tony swiftly, surrounding him on all sides.

"Who are you?" Tony demanded.

"We're the Suono Four (Sound Four), Typhonragazzo's elite bodyguards," said one figure, removing his hood which was light blue. He had tan skin and short dark hair tied in a ponytail as well as six arms. "I'm Eurus of the East Wind."

"Zephyr of the West Wind," responded a pale-faced man whose jacket was light purple with a second head attached to the back of his.

"Notos of the South Wind," answered a big guy with short orange hair and a metallic necklace underneath his hood which was pinkish brown.

"Borea of the North Wind," finished a young woman with medium-length red hair wearing a pale pink jacket. "And we're here to take you with us."

In response, Tony leaped into the air causing the others to do the same. They attacked him from all sides, but he avoided them easily and knocked them downward. He landed on a power-line, and proceeded to run away when Zephyr appeared in front of him.

"Not bad, kid, but we're just getting started," Zephyr smirked and said, "Do…Re…Mi!"

As Zephyr recited each pitch, Tony felt pain in his ribcage and fell off the power-line. Just then, Eurus spat spider-webs from his mouth. Tony evaded them quickly, but then was shoved into a nearby building by Notos' brute strength. Before Tony could recover, he was picked up by Zephyr while Eurus Notos and Borea gathered around him.

"I'm not sure why Typhonragazzo chose you," Zephyr remarked snidely. "Astraeus** (Kimimaro) was a much better candidate to me."

Hearing that, Tony freed himself from Zephyr's grip by kicking him in the face and standing up. As he did, black flames encased half of his body from the Exorcist Seal (Evil Sealing Method) that bound the Vampire's Curse (Cursed Seal of Heaven) mark.

"Seems you've been given the Vampire's Curse as well," Zephyr stated, but sounded unimpressed as he proceeded to kick Tony into the wall.

This made Tony flinch as he noticed half of Zephyr's face was covered in black squiggly lines.

"But clearly you haven't learned how to control it," Eurus observed. "If used recklessly, it'll eat your body. Fortunately, it's in its first stage."

"Yet you'll never unlock the curse's true power in that state," Notos added.

"Once unlocked, the curse will grant greater strength and nature energy (chakra) beyond your wildest dreams," Borea proclaimed. "However, your mind won't be yours and be permanently bound to Father Typhonragazzo's."

"So what's it going to be?" Zephyr asked. "Are you with us, or not?"

Tony said nothing as the flames disappeared from his body.

"You're wasting your time here," Borea sighed. "Don't you want revenge on Donnola Fuori (Itachi Uchiha)?"

While Tony's eyes widened, Zephyr said, "Think about your purpose, kid, and meet us outside the territory when you've made up your mind."

Then with that, the Suono Four vanished into the night sky.

Sometime later, Tony was heading through the park with a pack on his shoulder when a familiar pink-haired girl crossed in front of him.

"Rosa," Tony realized. "You should be asleep by now."

"I got worried and decided to check up on you," Rosa explained. "But when no one answered at your house, I figured you'd be here."

"Why?"

"Because it's a special place for us, where we became Squad 7 with Gelato and Spauracchio, and the Foglia family territorial line isn't too far from here."

"So you know where I'm going."

Reluctantly, Rosa nodded. "It wasn't hard to figure out, based on the way you've been acting lately and your fight with Gelato confirmed my theory."

"What theory?"

"That you're letting the Curse take control of you, instead of fighting it."

Tony scuffed. "Didn't Spauracchio tell you anything about the Exorcist Seal?"

"The what?"

"It's repressing the Curse's power, so I'm fine."

"But you're not!" Rosa objected. "The Curse activated again when you fought Tarma (Gaara), and your mood-swings…I don't think this Seal you're talking about is working."

"Then maybe I should embrace the Curse instead."

"Don't do that! You'll lose your mind, like that time in the Dead Man's Sewers, and I couldn't bare to see you in that state again."

"It's not your concern," Tony insisted and walked past Rosa. "If that's what it takes to get my revenge, then so be it."

Rosa turned to face Tony, with tears streaming down her face. "You're breaking my heart, Tony. I love you, more than anyone else."

Tony stopped, but didn't look back.

"Don't go," Rosa pleaded. "You'll make everyone unhappy by going down this path, even yourself. Think about the good times we've had as a Squad, even though we didn't always get along. I'll do anything to make you stay."

"Even help me avenge my family?"

"Yes, I would even do that."

Then Tony vanished and reappeared behind Rosa.

"Such a useless broad," Tony said as he hit the back of Rosa's neck causing her to fall down. "But thanks for the offer."

Then after putting Rosa on a nearby bench, Tony made his way out of the park and across the street marking the edge of the Foglia family territory. At the top of a building stood the Suono Four, who bowed to him in response.

"Forgive our earlier rudeness," Zephyr said with his head lowered as Tony leaped onto the building's roof. "Typhonragazzo said once you agreed to come with us, you would become our new leader."

"Whatever," Tony shrugged and walked past the Suono Four. "Let's just go already."

"As you wish," Eurus nodded.

The other Suono Four got up and followed Tony to the roof's edge before leaping off into the vast concrete jungle that lay between the Foglia family's territory and the Suono's.

*The Suono Four's names are references to the wind gods that dominated the cardinal directions according to Greek and Roman Mythology which are Boreas (North), Zephyrus (West), Notos (South), Eurus (East)

**Astraeus was an astrological deity and the Titan god of dusk who was sometimes associated with the winds
