There were few times that Kagome had ever seen Shinobu give into emotions, not to say that he was emotionless because that was outright untrue. He was more the sort to feel deeply but show little. Unless of course you knew what to look for, and with memories spanning across two of her life times she was practically an expert at reading him.
He was nervous.
Not terribly so but there was definitely an air of uncertainly about him and he kept on putting his hand in his pocket as though to assure himself that something was still there. But she wouldn't press him, wouldn't push, when he was ready to talk she would be there. So instead she filled the silence with chatter about anything and everything as she swept the shrine grounds.
It was as she placed the broom down and stepped back to admire her handy work that Shinobu found whatever resolve he needed, he pushed himself from the God tree where he had been leaning to stand in front of her. His much larger hands clasped her smaller ones encompassing them in his warmth. Her eyes drew away from where their hands where clasped to gaze into his own, head tilting curiously when he called her name.
And then her eyes whirled back down when she felt him slip something on her finger.
