The early morning nausea, the strange late night cravings, the vast array of emotions she could be feeling at any given time had become the norm for her over the last several weeks. At first the two of them had shrugged the symptoms off not willing to give into hope at what they could mean because it wasn't just an improbability it was an impossibility. The damage her body had suffered at the hands of Naraku had ensured she would be incapable of having children. At least that was what the multitude of doctors from both Spirit World and the human world had said.

And whether it was truly the doing of the miasma or Spirit World ensuring that neither of them could produce offspring was still a matter for debate.

So here she was at the shrine with only her mother in attendance, their hands clasped for comfort as they both stared at several little test sticks lined on the table awaiting results that had the potential to change everything.
