Chapter 25: Facing Fears

Leo sighed as he stepped out of Master Splinter's room, making sure to close the door as he exited. Small tray in hand the leaf green turtle then made his way to the kitchen, intending on returning the item to its proper place. After breaking the news of their brother's involvement with the Foot, their sensei excused himself to go into his room, but Leo ended up going to him sometime later to bring tea. The old rat was thankful for it, but was still troubled from the earlier news.

As he entered the kitchen the blue clad turtle found Raph and Mikey inside, eating in silence. Both turned when their brother entered, watching as he returned the tray to the cabinet.

"So, how is he?" Raph asked, Mikey nodded wanting to hear as well.

"Still the same," Leo responded with a sadden sigh. "He just want some time alone to reflect."

"What's there to reflect on?" Raph questioned. "Our brother may be a part of the Foot."

"But we don't know what happened truly," Mikey interject, trying to give some hope into the situation. "He could have been brainwashed or something."

"That's a possibility," Leo nodded, looking down at the floor as he thought more. "But…what if he didn't, I'm just saying," he said as he got a glare from his youngest.

"Donny would never do that, in no way at all. He may not be one willing to fight be he has the most sense out of us all!" Mikey said as he stood up from his chair.

"We know Mikey, but it is kind of weird once you think about it," Raph responded, hating to burst his brother's bubble of hope. "If the Foot truly brainwashed Don, then don't you think he wouldn't have recognized us?"

Leo couldn't help but nod at the response, "Yeah, and from the way he reacted there is some doubt."

"Just…stop," Mikey shook his head with both eyes closed, not wanting to believe any of it. "Either way we know Don is with the Foot, so we know where to go if we want to get him."

"True…but remember the last time we tried to break in?" Leo responded as he sat down in his chair. "April got locked out of the system, and chances are they upgraded their security, so it would be much harder for her to get back in there."

"So you're saying we can't do anything?" Raph raised an eye at his brother. He didn't want to hear the answer to that, mainly because he didn't want to sit around doing nothing when they knew where their brother is.

"It's not that simple Raph," Leo explained, trying his best to make things as calm as possible. He didn't want to start things with his brother, not now. "Despite what is really going on with Don, do you think the Foot would be stupid to keep him at their HQ, especially after having a run in with him?"

The red clad turtle frowned, it was a good point but he didn't want to vocally agree with the comment. That was a possibility, one of which he wish wasn't true, because that'll mean they were back at square one. "So where does that leave us?" was all he could ask.

Leo rested his head in both of his hands, for once in his life he wasn't sure what to say at the moment. Most of their lives he would have the answer to everything, but sadly the first had to be now. "I…I truly don't know."

Both brothers were silent, slightly shocked as they heard the response. They weren't expecting that answer at all, truthfully they expected an answer that would have started a fight between himself and Raph. This only brought the three down more than ever, without an answer they were stuck.

"But the one thing I do know," Leo said, catching their attention. "Is that the next time we see Don-"

"If we see him again," Raph put in, getting a stare from his older brother, but he continued on where he left off.

"Like I said, the next time we see Don, we have to be ready. He has new tricks, ones that we have no idea he's capaible of…He can take us one on one…so we need to face him all at once if we stand a chance of getting him back."

A tap sounded in the room, causing the three to turn and find Master Splinter standing at the entrance of the kitchen, all of them surprised to see him there.

"S-Sensei…are you feeling ok?" Leo asked in concern as he stood up in his chair. Attempting to go to his master's side but was stopped as a furry hand was held up.

"I am fine Leonardo," he nodded, which relaxed the three thankfully. "I couldn't help but overhear you three."

Mikey then took over from there, "Yes…we were talking about how the next time we see Don, the three of us against him and he won't stand a chance."

"You mean the four of us," Splinter spoke with confidence, causing surprised on his sons faces.

"What do you mean sensei?" Raph asked, getting out of his chair as well. "There's only three of us."

Splinter the cleared his throat as he rested both hands on his walking stick, both eyes now locked on his three children. "For so long I have waited on the sidelines, hoping you three would be able to bring him back home. Every night I pray and hope for the day that my lost son will walk through that door and make our family whole once more. What you three told me of Donatello's involvement with the Foot has deeply troubled me…am it made me realize that I can no longer stand aside and not do nothing. I will be joining you three when you go and look for your brother."

"But sensei…are you sure-" Leo started but was interrupted.

Splinter's eyes narrowed as his grip on his walking stick tightened, "I have never been surer in my life. Right now my parental blood is coursing through me like it has never done before in my life. I'm not a ninjutsu master right now, I'm a father right now and no one is going to stand in my way to get my son back."

The three listened to their father talk about getting involved, and it made them realize how much harder he had it. Every night as they went out he was here in the lair with his own thoughts, worried about their brother. They had no idea how many tears he shedded, or how may heart throbs he went through, but they knew he had enough and wanted to get involved.

They still wondered if he was still blaming himself for letting them go out long ago, which resulted in their brother's abduction. Still even after so many talks they knew nothing would sway their father from blaming himself. Maybe to him this would be his chance to make up for that mistake and no longer be on the sidelines.

It took the three a bit of time to fully accept this new resolve from their father, but knew that once he made up his mind there was nothing that was going to sway him. Also for the fact that he is very scary when angered, so they would have to accept the help.

"Alright sensei, only if that is what you truly want," Leo nodded, along with his brothers.

"It is, the Foot has gone too far this time around. They may have brainwashed one of my sons against us, and they will know to never mess with my family, not without facing dire consequences." Silence filled the room as the three listened to their sensei, knowing that he had much more hatred for the Foot than ever before. Not only did they take away his master, but now his son.

The world slowly started to come back into focus as Don slowly started to regain consciousness. Both eyes slowly started to open and the first thing he saw was the monitor of his computer. It was also then that the pain in his shell became noticeable, for he was slumped over his desk in his lab. Yawning the young teen sat back right side up and started to stretch himself, hearing a few pops through his body.

"I shouldn't fall asleep like that anymore," he said to himself, continuing to stretch. "I'm starting to get cramps like this."

Looking up he saw that his computer is in sleep mode, most likely it became like that during he slept. Moving the mouse the screen lit up and showed some notes he had been typing. His arm brushed up against something metallic, which caught his eye. Reaching he then picked up a small rounded badge like device, it's the Foot tech ninja's stealth device.

Back after he completed his first contract assassination Shredder told him he could have anyone of the more advance equipment they had. After careful deliberation the black clad turtle had choose this device. He had always been fascinated with this tech and wanted to study it further, it may have taken time but now he has it. He had taken it apart to study the components that made it up, then wrote down various notes. The turtle was sure that it could be improved beyond of what the Foot scientist could do, which could make this a most effective stealth unit ever.

Currently he almost found a way to make the stealth unit to where it can avoid motion detectors. He didn't want to guarantee it but he would need to do a few adjustments and fun some tests before it can actual work. Smiling he placed the device down and started to resume his work, yes things were going good so far.

"Ahh…my head," his hand went up to sooth the aching spot. It had been a day since his session with Dr. Adams and ever since his head would hurt every now and then. The bad news it was a real annoyance, the good news, it didn't last very long. Clothing his eyes he breaths a few times and just like that it started to fade. Both eyes opened as a sigh of relief hit him, "Man…I better take some head medicine later."

As much as he really wanted to Don found that it wouldn't be a wise idea to ask Dr. Adams what he did. Mainly on the grounds that he didn't like the guy and he didn't want to figure out what this guy's angle is. The last session seemed real quick, but after a time check the turtle was surprised to see how much time had passed, and couldn't remember or understand what had happened. But for some reason he didn't want to know, either he didn't want to or it wasn't important.

His head perked as a beep came from the computer, looking at the screen he saw that he received a message. Clicking on it the message showed.

Junko, come up to the dojo

An eye rose up in confusion as Don read this, there was no name of who sent it. Which was strange because all the messages he received had the name addressed of who sent it. Usually it was Dr. Adams for Shredder who sent the messages, and of course Gavin on occasion. Something didn't seem right, go to the dojo? What for and Why?

Don was tempted not to respond, but maybe this was a test of some sorts, or just his imagination. Still he always answered to the messages and he wasn't going to start now.

"I'm not sure about this…but it may just be me. Still why am I not feeling well about this?" he said to himself. Still he didn't stop himself from getting up from his chair, taking the time to stretch more before walking out of the lab.

The elevator doors opened as Don stepped out into the long hall way, looking both ways and finding no one present. It was weird since there could be at least one person every time he came. Also the area was unusually silent, which was another red flag in his mind.

"Hello?" he called out, hearing a small echo, but yet nothing. Raising an eye he cautiously moved down the hall toward the dojo. His feet falling silently on the wooden floor as he slowly came upon the sliding door. Stopping in front of it he took a few breaths before placing a hand on the wooden frame and slid it open.

What laid behind was an empty dojo, nothing out of the ordinary or anyone at all. This relaxed him some but now confusion came to mind as he remember the message, wasn't someone supposed to be in here to meet him?

"Hello, anyone here?" he called out, walking into the dojo but keeping the door open just as a precaution. Looking around he stopped in the center of the room, making sure he didn't miss something by any chance.

Both eyes then widen as his senses kicked in, something is wrong, he can feel it. It was as if eyes were watching him, but from where? Looking over at all sides once more Don didn't find anyone, nor anything that indicated that he was being watched.

"Ok, Ok…this isn't good…someone is watching me, I just know it but I can't see them. I knew this wasn't a good idea, why didn't I listen? Wait…a majority of the time…people forget…to…look…up…" Both eyes widen as he slowly looked up towards the ceiling, but gasped as the blade of a sword came into view.

*Thud*

The sword hit the ground as Don managed to jump out of the way. Going into a roll he got back on his feet and looked at his attacker, but his eyes widen as fear instantly took him. "N-No…no…not them!" Hid body shook and breathing increased as he moved back in fear. Chuckles could be heard as his assailant, and was followed by two more.

"Miss us Junko?" the one with the sword responded, or better yet the one with twin katanas.

The turtle's shell hit the wall as he had no more room to retreat, now panicking at who he saw. Three Foot ninjas, but not any ordinary Foot ninjas. These three held an individual color cloth tied around their arm, one had an orange one, another red and the last blue. And each one of them held a familiar weapon from his past. The blue one held twin katanas, the orange had two nunchucks and the red one has two sais. These three were his tortures from when he was first captured, and now they're back.

"Oh how we missed you," Red chuckled as he fiddled with his sais.

"W-What are you doing here?" Don managed to say, still pressed against the wall, eyes blinking and head shaking as his mind started to mess with him.

"It was such a shame you were taken from us, we so enjoyed our sessions with you," Orange laughed, arms folded.

"We didn't want them to end," Red responded, clearly they were all pleased with their words. "We have such fond memories of those times…you do remember don't you?"

"All the sleepless nights," Blue smiled underneath his mask.

Don slid to the floor, eyes closed as the memories from way back resurfaced as old wounds opened back up. The memories of the nights he was locked in his cell, the electrodes attached to him, giving a shock every time his eyes closed for more than a second.

"The fun shocks," Orange said next.

Don's hands clutched his head as the memories kept coming and shifting. The times he was strapped to a chair, order to repeat after them and being shocked constantly when he refused. "No…stop…" he silently said.

"The fun beatings," Red kept going, not accepting the request.

Both of the turtle's eyes squeezed tighter as the words kept hitting him. The memories of when he was tied up in the small exercise room, and beaten by them. Not stopping even though he couldn't keep going on.

"Oh better yet…" Blue chuckled. "Destroying a part of yourself."

Donny's breath hitched as he heard this now remembering back when they had him restrained. How they destroyed his Bo staff. Slicing it in half and then throwing it into the fire, then taking his old mask and tossing it in there as well. They basically took away a part of himself, destroying an important part of his life.

"But now that Shredder took you away from us and treats you like an equal," Blue said. They seemed to be disgusted at that last word. "We're going to take you out of the picture and return things back to where it should be, you weak and worthless fool."

Looking up the black clad turtle's eyes widen as his vision started to get blurry. The images of the three Foot ninjas changing on and off. Soon the image of Leo, Mikey and Raph started to form in his head. He shook his head and they returned to normal. Unfortunately they shifted back and soon his brothers stood before him.

"You best just stay there and do nothing," he heard Raph say. "You can never do anything right."

"No one can save you anymore," Orange responded with glee.

Now memories from his past now played in front of him. Small ripples revealing the abusive life he had, and his brothers being the cause.

"What's the point he never listens," he heard Leo say now, bring forth the times his eldest brother forbidden him from going on his own.

"He just never learns," He finally heard Mikey say. The times he remember his youngest brother lying to save his own shell, and leaving him to hand to dry. All the abuse they had given him over the years, but there was a difference between then and now.

He was weak back then, not strong and skilled enough to be able enough to stand up for himself. No, time had passed and now he's much stronger than before, he shouldn't be afraid. The panic started to fade as his breathing slowed down to a normal pace. Both eyes then looked up at his so called brothers, both eyes no longer filled with fear, but with hate. Hands clenched into fists as he then got to his feet, he wasn't going to sit here and let them have their way, no he'll show them how strong he is.

"Oh, look at the weakling, he looks made," Red teased.

"We'll change that," Blue said as he unsheathed both katanas, moved forward and raised his swords. "Now hold still!"

Acting face Don moved forward and stopped him by reaching up and grabbing his assailant's arms. The three were surprised to see the turtle had stopped the attack. Blue was more shocked as he tried to get his arms free but found the grip they were in solid. He gulped as he looked into the black clad turtle's eyes, seeing the hate burning inside.

"You want to see weak…I'll show you how weak I am,"

"AH!" Blue cried out as pressure points on his wrists were pressed, causing his grip to loosen as both swords fell to the floor. Don then brought a knee up and struck him into the stomach, knocking the wind out of him. Letting go Don grabbed Blue's head and smashed him against the wall and watched as he fell to the floor, groaning while clutching his throbbing head.

Looking over the black clad turtle saw the shocked expressions, well as much as they could see through their masks. Yet it was instantly shook off as they took out their weapons and charged at him. But unfortunately for them Don already charged at them, plan already formed in his head.

He then jumped over the two, landing right behind them and before they reacted Don leg swept Red, knocking him to the ground. Rising up Don then dodged multiple swipes from Orange's nunchucks, easily moving out of the line of fire. Once there was an opening he did a powerful punch to Orange's gut, causing a gasp to come out of him. Once he was stunned the turtle finished with a spin kick to the head, throwing him to the ground.

Senses on alert Don ducked in time to miss a thrust from a sai. Both green arms reached up and gripped the arm, head thrust backwards hitting Red's stomach and then flipped him hard onto the ground. The black clad turtle couldn't believe this, he's winning against his brothers, and he's having no trouble at all. He's finally getting the retribution he always wanted. All the tortures, pain, and abuse is now being returned in a huge way.

But more he kept fighting them the more the memories came, and that made him angrier. All the torment these three had inflicted upon him, every single one of them. Why did they have to do it, why was he treated like scum? Why should they be allowed to continue with their ways?

The anger kept boiling inside of him, rising up as more memories flashed before him and it all accumulated to a boiling point till he's blinded by rage. His body acted on its own accord as he moved forward, heading towards Orange, who tried to mount another defense. He swung both nunchucks but Don caught both wrists, stopping the attack. And with a hateful glare the turtle bent the wrists, Orange crying out as cracking could be heard, causing him to drop his weapons.

Picking up the discarded weapons Don then drove the butt-end of the nunchucks right into his skull around some tender spots. Orange fell to the ground at an instant. Turning around he saw the shocked look or Red, who couldn't believe what he saw. Using this distraction Don rushed towards him, throwing one of the nunchucks at his gut, causing Red to drop his weapons as he groaned in pain.

Moving swiftly Don then wrapped the chain of the nunchuck around the ninja's neck, and then moving behind him. Turning so his shell is pressed against Red's back Don then pulled on the weapon, causing the chain to press against his neck, and the force of the pull raised his feet off the floor. The look of hate still on the turtle's face as he heard choking and felt struggling, but did nothing to save him. This went on until he pulled once more, hearing a cracking sound before the body went limp.

Letting go a thump was heard as the turtle turned to his last remaining target. Blue was finally recovering from the blow to the head, and looked in horror to see Don approaching him. Reacting he picked up one of the fallen katanas and swung it, but the turtle saw this and dived for the last remaining one. Rolling back to his feet, the sword in hand, Don rushed for his opponent who just took another swing. The turtle easily parried it away and struck Blue in the chest with the butt-end. He stumbled back but that's all he needed, before at an instant he felt something pierce his stomach, both eyes bulging out as he looked up and saw the turtle right in front of him, the same hateful glare staring at him.

Looking down he saw his blade has been thrusted inside of him. Choking out a gasp, both hands went to the handle as he stumbled back. His strength quickly leaving him as he fell to his knees then keeled over, both eyes closing.

Don breathed heavily as he looked down at the floor, his mind hurting big time as the images of his brothers left, and the three Foot ninjas that tormented him returned. But now they were down on the ground scattered, never to get up again.

"AAHHH!" he cried out loud, thrusting his head back as the yell filled the room and then falling to his knees. Then he fell on his hands and knees, a sob now being heard as a few tears fell from his eyes. "W-What…have I done?"

Little did he know was that there was a hidden camera in the room, which captured the whole thing. On the other end of the device Dr. Adams was shocked at what he just witness, but yet this was what he was looking for and hoping for to happen. Reaching over he picked up a phone and dialed a number, hearing the rings. After a few seconds he heard the person on the other end finally pick up.

"Sir…The test was successful."

A/N: Hope you like. Man I'm glad this chapter is done with, it was hard to write and i'm glad it's out of the way. Like I said I hope it wasn't too violent. Still i'm working on the next chapter and I hope it'll be good. Because I don't know what to write next, I have to keep adding in new things. Still I'll try. Till next time.
