Chapter 18
This is some more Jane and Lisbon in the hospital and some brother in law bonding with Jane and Jimmy and also Jane and Lisbon coming home with the baby. I decided to continue this story.

After their guests left, Jane and Lisbon continued admiring their daughter. They planned to put the shell, Abbott's gift in the nursery on the shelf. "It was great seeing the Abbotts." Lisbon said.
"Yes, that was a surprise. So, Abbott asked about the shell I sent you?" Jane questioned.
"Yes. That was before I knew he would be such a good boss and friend." Lisbon admitted.
"He's a good guy, that Dennis." Jane grinned.
"Everybody seems to love you, sweetie." Lisbon said to the baby.
"She's our princess." Jane said.
"Yes, she is." Lisbon responded. "I can't believe she's ours."
They soon heard a knock on the door. "Come in." Lisbon said.
"I'm back." Jimmy said entering the room with a bag.
"What have you been doing?" Lisbon asked her brother.
"I checked into a motel and relaxed. I got up early myself and did some shopping." Jimmy held up the bag. He reached his hand in the bag and pulled out a little rubber duck. "I didn't know really what to get. I'm not an expert at baby shopping, so she may not be ready for this yet. That's all I could think of with my limited knowledge of baby toys." Jimmy admitted.
"Thanks. That's alright, Jimmy. We'll save it." Jane said. "We appreciate it because it's a necessary baby bath toy."He went up to Jimmy and took the toy.
"Thank you, Jimmy. We really appreciate your visit. I didn't expect it." Lisbon said.
"Hey, do you think I could go see your house complete, you know with furniture and everything?" Jimmy asked.
"If you want I could go with you in the morning. I'm finally feeling the tiredness of last night now."Jane said.
"I'll still be here. I'll probably leave the day after." Jimmy admitted. "I don't know."
"We don't have a car here, because Cho took us to the hospital." Lisbon said.
"I can drive, Patrick, if you just help me with directions." Jimmy said.
"That'll be great. Of course." Jane said.
"Lauren is going to have me practice with the baby anyway." Lisbon admitted. "I'm going to be able to feed you little girl."
Jimmy came up to the bed and looked at his niece. "Hey, kid, your Uncle Jimmy's back." The baby looked at him. Lauren came back in. "Hi, how's everyone doing?"
"We're good." Lisbon said.
Jimmy right away went up to Lauren. "Hey, how are you?"
"Good. So, you're Teresa's brother."
"Yep, I am. I'm her annoying little brother she had to deal with." Jimmy grinned. He went up to the baby again. "You really are a cute baby. You have to put up with me, kid." He grinned. Soon the baby did a little coo and what appeared to be a smile. "Oh, my God, I've never seen a baby like me so much." Everyone smiled at the sight of Jimmy and his niece.
A day later Lisbon was able to go into the nursery with Lauren. She would feed her daughter for the first time. "So, what is your choice for feeding?" Lauren asked.
"We're going to use formula because Patrick is going to be really involved. He's better with children than I am at times."
"I'm sure you're good too. It's great that he wants to be involved." Lauren went to get a bottle ready and gave it to Lisbon. She pushed the crib, and rolling it to by Lisbon to carefully pick up the baby. "Here's your mommy, little girl." and placed Lisby in Teresa's arms. "Hello, sweetie are you hungry?"
"She's happy to see you. Where did you come up with Lisby Michelle?" Lauren asked.
"My husband created it from my maiden name. I wasn't sure about it at first, but then I saw her and the name fit like he said. So, I love it." Lisbon admitted. "And we had a colleague die a few months ago named Michelle and so we decided to use her name to remember her by." She really questioned him on the name because it wasn't a typical name. They had both decided they didn't want anything too overly common and there were far worse names she hated in the name list. She decided Lisby was unique and was in a way like Elizabeth they both liked.
"Well, I like it. It's a pretty name." Lauren smiled.
Lisbon started feeding her daughter. The baby took the bottle right away.
"So, where's Patrick?" Lauren asked.
"Oh, he's brother in law bonding with Jimmy, my brother." Lisbon admitted. Jimmy had come back this morning and decided he wanted to see the cabin finished since he only had seen it without furniture the last time he was in Austin.
"Oh, that's good." Lauren said.
"I guess. I'm not sure if it's good or not." Lisbon admitted worried. "I'm sorry about my brother."
"I've been hit on worse. He's not the worst." Lauren confessed chuckling.
Jimmy drove as he and Jane headed out on the road toward the cabin. "I'm looking forward to seeing it complete with furniture and everything." Jimmy said. "I'm going the right way, right?"
"Yep, you're doing fine, Jimmy. I look forward to showing it to you." Jane grinned.
"It's good you had some time living in the new house before the baby. Now you'll have to get adjusted to caring for a baby. I'm clueless about babies as I told you before." Jimmy admitted.
"I'm familiar with taking care of a baby." Jane said a little sadly remembering bringing Charlotte home from the hospital with Angela and adjusting to caring for her. He had to let his memories not overshadow caring for he and Teresa's baby. He needed to stay positive.
"Teresa has mentioned about why you worked with CBI." Jimmy said not sure if it was the right thing to say knowing this could be a sensitive matter.
"I angered an evil man and lost my family but I have a second chance with my new family now with Teresa and our daughter. Your sister has helped me so much. I haven't always been perfect to her, but she's never given up on me." Jane went ahead and answered observing Jimmy's concerned face. It was no secret that the reason he met Teresa Lisbon was because of his family's murders.
"That's good. We appreciated all she did for us growing up too, you know, my brothers and I. I realize she needed her own life when she left. She couldn't take care of us forever. I was quite the challenge to watch. I was a little rascal when I was little. I'm probably still one." Jimmy grinned.
"As I was too a challenge for her over the years" Jane admitted. The two men made it to the house. Jane opened the door with his key he finally had made and walked in. Jimmy followed him as well.
"This is so nice all furnished." Jimmy said.
"I'm very proud of it and everything I did as well as your brothers and you. I appreciated the help because I knew I couldn't do it all myself." Jane said looking at the room of knotty oak. They both went around the rooms.
The next morning was the day Lisbon and Jane would come home with their baby girl. Everything was in order for Lisbon to be released. Lisbon decided to get dressed in the outfit she brought with her in her bag. She'd have to work on getting in shape as she was still had some of the baby weight. She put on her pants and noticed they felt tight and uncomfortable and she realized she grabbed the wrong ones. She really should've grabbed her maternity ones instead of her regular sized ones. Oh, well, she would have to deal with it now. While she dressed, Jane had gone to get his tea at the bistro he found so she could dress in peace. She also grabbed out of her bag the little green outfit Grace had sent for the baby to come home in. She was still nervous about doing everything right with the baby and also adjusting to the baby's schedule. She heard the knock on the door. "Are you ready yet?" She heard her husband ask.
"I'm ready!" Lisbon called out. Jane came in with his paper cup in hand and flowers. He set the flowers and his cup on the table. "For you, my dear." Jane indicated to the flowers.
"I look awful!" Lisbon said looking down at her shirt over her belly and pants. "My pants don't fit. Maybe I should've stayed in the hospital gown."
"You look lovely." Jane said coming up to her and putting his hand on her shoulder.
"Don't start." " Lisbon glared "You're lying."
"I'm not lying. You look fine, Teresa. I love you no matter what." Jane placed a sweet kiss on her lips.
"Even fat?" Lisbon frowned. "I do look awful."
"Remember it's better to be happy than sad." Jane said grinning. She only frowned back.
"You're not the one you just gave birth." Lisbon snapped.
"Yes, I'm well aware. You did most of the work in that aspect." Jane said.
"I can't go in public like this." Lisbon snapped again. She didn't know why she was feeling this way. She never cared that much about what she was wearing or what she looked liked in public. That wasn't her. She just wore whatever she was comfortable in and she was never a girly girl considering she had three brothers.
"You're fine. All we need to do is go down the hospital hall and to Cho's car when he arrives. Nobody cares about what you look like. You're fine." Jane reassured Lisbon again rubbing her shoulder.
Then Lisbon realized she was being angry with Jane for no reason. She was taking her frustration of her appearance out on him. He had been so good helping her relax during labor and after the birth, and staying in the room all the time. He only took minimal breaks with the exception of going with Jimmy to the house. He even ate hospital food along with her and he had never been a huge fan of hospitals and doctors. He stayed there for her and she was appreciative. "I'm sorry I snapped." Lisbon apologized. "You didn't do anything but stay with me constantly."
" That's what I'm supposed to do as your husband." Jane smiled. "I'm okay. I've been used to your grumpiness over the years. I've adjusted to it accordingly. Now I have two angry little princesses." Jane grinned.
"Grumpiness that was caused by you most of the time." Lisbon reminded. "Yes, you do." Lisbon said thinking of their daughter.
"True, but you love me anyway. I know you're feeling down." Jane said.
Lauren soon came in the room and rolled the baby crib in with their baby girl. "This little girl's ready to go. Do you have something to dress her in for her trip home?"
"Yes, we do." Lisbon responded.
"I'll leave you to get her ready." Lauren said.
Lisbon took out the baby onesie and carefully lifted her daughter and put on the item of clothing not completely sure if she was dressing her right. She finished and instantly heard Jane laughing. She turned around. "What's funny?" Lisbon questioned her husband.
"I don't mean to laugh, but you put it on backwards." Jane said looking at Lisbon and going to the crib and looking at Lisby Michelle.
"And you remember how to do it?" Lisbon questioned Jane raising her eyebrow up. "Okay, fine genius, do it." Lisbon said sarcastically.
"I do remember how to dress a baby." Jane grinned taking the baby and undressing the baby and turning it around and carefully putting it on his daughter. "Don't worry, Mommy will get the hang of it." Jane told the baby. He carefully picked up the baby and held her on his shoulder with a supportive hand placed on her head. Lisbon watched the scene of Jane holding the baby. It was a different side she saw of him, being a dad. Through the years she saw him constantly pouring over the Red John files or sneaking off to the attic to add to his board of suspects. He could see the light in his eyes, a true happiness, the same look when they married. He was full of pure joy. She realized she hadn't officially seen him hold their daughter. She knew he did, because he told her, but the times he did, she was asleep. Sure, she saw him with kids during cases but this was different. She was seeing his joy of being a dad, the way he must have been with Charlotte. She remembered when she saw him with her brother's baby and briefly thought the idea having a child with Jane and she knew he would be a great father. Now here they were parents. She heard a phone ring. She checked hers, but it must have been Jane's. He still had the baby. "Can you get my phone out of my jacket pocket?" Jane asked. She went up to him and pulled out of his jacket and answered. "Hello."
"Hey, Lisbon."
"Hi, Cho."
"I'll be here soon and help you take things out."
"Okay. Thank you, we appreciate it. Jane couldn't answer because he's holding the baby." Lisbon smiling looking at her husband with the baby.
"Oh, I got your car seat set up in my car. Jane had called me about that yesterday when he and Jimmy went to the house. See you soon, Lisbon."
"Thank you, Cho. See you later." Lisbon hung up the phone.
"Cho's coming soon?" Jane questioned still holding on to the baby.
"Yes, he's going to help take our stuff out." Lisbon said.
Lauren came back in with a wheelchair. "Here's your ride, Teresa. We offer this for new mothers."
"Our friend will be coming to help us load up." Lisbon admitted.
A few minutes later Cho walked into the room. "Hi, are you three ready?" Cho looked at Jane and Lisbon and the baby still being held by Jane.
Lisbon went ahead and took the offer to be wheeled out by the nurse. She normally wouldn't do this sort of thing but she was still tired and it was part of the hospital service. She sat down and Jane then placed their daughter in her arms with a blanket. He grabbed his tea and the flowers. Cho pulled the cart with the gifts and carried Lisbon's bag. Lauren pushed the wheelchair as the group headed towards the elevator. As soon as they arrived downstairs in the elevator, Cho went to the front desk and gave the clerk the parking ticket and the valet went to get Cho's car.
The valet returned with the car and the group went outside. Cho right away opened the SUV back and then started taking the items and putting them in the space. He then shut the door and opened the door where the car seat was located on the right side. Lisbon got up from the wheelchair and carefully carried her daughter. Jane threw away his cup in the trash can and pulled out the straps to easily set the baby in the seat. Lisbon carefully set the baby in the seat. She did remember how to put the straps on as she practiced on the car seat ahead of time. She finished latching. Lauren went up to the baby in the seat. "You get to go home now, little girl. I really enjoyed taking care of you." Lisbon smiled at the nurse. "Thanks for everything, Lauren. Thank Stephanie as well." Lisbon started heading back to the other side after closing the door.
"Of course." Lauren called as she took the wheelchair and headed towards the hospital. "Thanks, Lauren." Jane said as he went ahead going to the front seat noticing his wife on the other side by the baby. Cho then went to the driver's side and closed the door and started to drive. "You have a pretty big change to adjust to." Cho said looking at the baby through the rear view mirror.
"I know, it just seems like she's just here all of a sudden." Lisbon said looking at Lisby Michelle who was sleeping.
"That's true. I feel the same way, though it does help I have experience with a baby." Jane said.
Lisbon and Cho became silent. Jane noticed the silence and knew they both seemed not to know how to respond. They were tip-toeing over the mention of Charlotte. He was surprised Lisbon was doing it because he had talked about Charlotte before to her. He never said much about Charlotte at the CBI or the FBI so he could understand Cho's silence. "It's okay, you can say something."
"I'm sorry, I was just surprised you mentioned that." Cho admitted.
"Like I told Rigsby when he was here, you don't have to tiptoe around the past anymore." Jane admitted. "How's Lisby back there?"
"She's fine. She's sleeping now." Lisbon admitted.
"You know, you two, I'm happy for you considering all we've gone through over years with well, the search for him, CBI close down and with Vega's death." Cho admitted. Lisbon and Jane knew exactly the him Cho referred.
"Yes, we have. We'll always be a team and a family along with Rigsby and Van Pelt. All of us deserve happiness now. We need it." Lisbon admitted.
"Of course, we do. Our life has changed for the better. It may still be challenging. We appreciate you, Cho. Like Lisbon said, our team have always been a family to me. I may not have always shown it, but I've appreciated you." Jane said pausing smiling teary eyed. Cho gave one of his rare Cho smiles. Lisbon smiled teary eyed as well hearing her husband speak and happy he was showing his emotions.
"But we really appreciate you now being our "Choffer"." Jane grinning as he spoke again looking at Cho driving breaking the emotional silence with the remark. Lisbon rolled her eyes as well as Cho. Cho continued driving towards Jane and Lisbon's cabin and finally they arrived. To their surprise, Wylie was waiting for them. Cho stopped the car and put it into park. He immediately got out and opened the back and grabbed the vase of flowers. Wylie went over to help him. Jane went up to unlock the door and guys went inside to set the flowers and gifts down. Lisbon got out and went to the side the baby was located and opened the door and unhooked the straps and carefully picked up the baby and carefully walked inside their house and into the nursery and carefully set her daughter in the crib. She then grabbed the baby monitors and turned them on. She took it with her to the living room and saw the three guys. She noticed Wylie there. "Wylie, what are you doing here? It's good to see you."
"I brought food." Wylie lifted up a couple of plastic and paper bags with take out containers.
"Those are the magic words, Wylie. We've had to have hospital cuisine the past couple days." Jane grinned. "Thank you so much." Jane then gave his big Jane hug.
"You really appreciate the food." Wylie still in Jane hug. Finally, Jane broke the hug and kept grinning. "I brought brunch. With eggs and bacon, pancakes, sausage, the whole breakfast works. I figured you wouldn't want to worry about cooking when you arrived home." Wylie described.
"Thank you, Wylie. We appreciate it." Lisbon said smiling. "You have been such a great friend."
The group went to the table and Jane grabbed plates out of the cupboard and set them on the table. He also grabbed silverware such as knives, forks and spoons out of the drawer. "Our house is exceptionally clean and neat because of Teresa's ambition to get it ready." Jane said grinning at his wife remembering the morning before the baby was born.
"Don't expect me to do that all the time, Mr." Lisbon reminded looking at Jane.
The group sat the table dishing their food on the plates and starting to eat. "I still can't believe she's here." Wylie said taking a bite of pancakes.
"I know." Lisbon said.
"I love her name. Lisby Michelle." Wylie stated.
"Yeah. We used Michelle to remember Vega by." Jane said.
"I think she would like that." Wylie said getting a little teary eyed.
"Patrick, remember when I told you I wanted to believe Michelle was in a safe place?" Teresa blinked tears away and Jane smiled.
"Yes," said Jane with a confident sigh, "Just look at Lisby, we realize all is safe for those who pass on. I realize that now. Because another sweet child is here to remind us of the good yet in the world."
Soon afterward after everyone ate and started to clean up, Jane and Lisbon went to the nursery to see their baby. Jane carefully picked his child up and brought her back in the room. Lisbon instantly went where her husband was standing. They hugged their baby closely as Cho and Wylie put hands on Jane and Lisbon.
Since, Father's Day and my mother's birthday were on the same day I want to thank my mom for being my editor for each chapter to make sure everything makes sense for you readers and sometimes giving me ideas for the story. I want to thank my dad for coming up with the term "Choffer" from chauffeur. I thought it was very clever.
