Chapter 21

I apologize for the delay and shortness of this chapter. I haven't had too much chance to write during the weekend before and this last weekend where my family celebrated my grandmother's 100th birthday. This chapter will have some more with Alex, Lisbon and Grace talking and an unexpected and unwanted visitor to Alex. There'll be a little bit of investigation in this one and the next chapter. Lisbon will improve more.

Disclaimer:Don't Own Anything

Lisbon glanced at the 17-year old short haired boy with a white tank and low jean shorts with tattoos on his arms was standing in front of them. Lisbon figured this was Alex's boyfriend she had in Chicago and Landon's father. He reminded her of the teenagers she arrested in San Francisco for either drug charges or being in gangs. Did Alex get involved with someone in a gang?

"I came to see you, of course. I heard about you moving to Austin and I also heard about the baby." The boy said chewing on gum. "I wanted to see the kid." The boy then sat down by Alex and looked at the baby. Alex moved slightly aside.

Alex began getting really nervous, Lisbon noticed. The girl was shaking and her baby could sense it too.

"Scooter, I'm visiting my friends." Alex nervously said indicating to Teresa and Grace. "Can you leave?" looking at Scooter again.

Scooter looked towards the women. "You have old women as friends?"

Teresa and Grace frowned and took offense at the comment. "Hey, I'm not old." Grace talked back. There was an obvious tension between Alex and Scooter. Their breakup or their time together obviously didn't end well and Alex hadn't talked about her boyfriend much other than him being from Chicago.

"Alex doesn't want you here and I don't want you here." JoAnn said seriously looking at the kid.

"You can't tell me what to do." Scooter belligerently said. "Alex, what's the kid's name?"

"Landon." Alex answered still nervous. Landon began crying. Alex began trying to calm the baby, "Shh, it's okay, Landon." Lisby started crying as well, while Grace was trying to calm too.

"He should've been named after me. Don't you think?"Scooter looked at Alex seriously.

Lisbon went to grab her gun automatically, but remembered Jane locked them in the cabinet while she was in her mood the day before. She rose up transformed into cop mode. "She said she doesn't want you here." Lisbon glared. Grace gave a proud smile realizing her friend was back.

"Why should I listen to you, you're not my mother." Scooter said sarcastically.

"I think you may want to listen to me. Teresa Lisbon. FBI" Lisbon reached in her purse pulling and luckily had her badge and rising up to stand. Grace smiled even more.

"You're friends with a cop?" Scooter sneeringly looked at Alex.

"Yes, she's my friend. I can have whatever friends I want." Alex said seriously.

"So, Scooter, or whatever your name is, I suggest you leave now if you don't want to be arrested." Lisbon glared.

"We're not done yet, Alex." Scooter said getting up and yelling and pointing towards Alex. Alex didn't respond to him at all, and Teresa and Grace watched him go out the door. After he left, the babies started calming down. Grace grabbed a pacifier out for Lisby to suck on from the bag.

"I'm sorry, that happened. I didn't know he was in Austin." Alex said nervously.

"That was Landon's father?" Grace asked concerned.

"Yes, he was. His name's not really Scooter, that's his gang name." Alex admitted.

"He chose that name?" Grace cringed. "That's not really a tough guy name." She continued calming Lisby down and the baby relaxed.

"Is he a threat to you? Will he hurt you?" Lisbon questioned getting more into her investigative self sitting back down.

"He broke up with me, because I was , I think he might be a threat, he's been violent before." Alex said unsteadily. "He's one of the reasons they sent me away to Austin."

"Do you want to talk about something else, Alex?" Lisbon asked looking at the girl who was still shaken with the encounter with her ex-boyfriend.

"I suppose." Alex said but then started revealing everything. "When I met him, he was very nice. He seemed like a normal guy. I didn't even know he was in a gang at the time. I met him at a diner, and he said I was pretty and gave me compliments, you know that type of thing. He never dressed like that, he dressed nice. As I got to know him, he became meaner and told me I couldn't do anything else but be with him.I finally found out he was in a gang and I didn't want to be part of that life. Then of course, I found I was pregnant. I guess, I ended up in this mess. " Alex sadly admitted.

Grace listened to the girl carefully remembering how deceiving men could be. "You know Alex, I can relate to you. A few years ago, I met this perfect and nice guy and everyone thought he was. He always did these extremely nice things even over the top things for me like helicopter rides to lunch. I was really naïve and young. Then I found out he was not the guy I thought he was. He worked for some very bad people and he even tried to kill me and my friend." Grace narrated and looked at Lisbon. "Since we're cops I ended up killing him." Grace admitted.

"Really?" Alex asked surprised at Grace's admission.

"I wouldn't advise it. It was very difficult for me to know this man I trusted, I was even engaged to, could hurt me so badly by lying to me." Grace said.

"I'm sorry." Alex apologized.

"It's okay, because now I'm married to the man I actually had loved all along. It took us a while, but we are very happy. Anyway, we should talk about you and Teresa. You're the ones with the beautiful new babies."Grace smiled.

"Alex, what is Scooter's real name?" Lisbon asked concerned.

"Kevin Elliot. He never called himself Scooter until I found out he was in a gang. Then he wanted to be called that name." Alex admitted.

"Do you want someone to watch him to make sure he doesn't come after you?" Lisbon asked.

"I'm okay, really." Alex refused.

They changed the topic from Scooter to talking about their children. The three women shared some of the joys of motherhood and some of the hardships.

"Do you want to hold him?" Alex asked Lisbon.

"Sure." Lisbon said carefully picking up the little boy, who was bald. Alex held Lisby as well. "Your little girl has a lot of hair." Alex noticing the hair of Lisby while holding her.

"I know. Patrick and I were surprised she ended up with so much hair." Lisbon admitted.

"Landon's a little baldy. He's been loud and talkative already. You'll notice." Alex said looking at her son in Lisbon's arms. The baby was stretching out and starting to make sounds. "I see what you mean." Lisbon noticed.

"Patrick likes to talk to Lisby. He tells her stories, well a lot of them is about her older sister, Charlotte, who died." Lisbon confessed. "He hasn't said much before now."

"Really? Jane is talking about her now?" Grace asked surprised. "He never talked about her."

"It sounds nice." Alex said. "JoAnn talks about their daughter to Landon and me."

Lisbon remembered the first time she heard her husband tell a Charlotte story. It was couple of days after they came home from the hospital getting adjusted to parenthood. She was on her way back to the bedroom from the bathroom and Jane was up feeding Lisby on the chair at 2:00 in the morning. He told Lisbon he would go feed her after the baby woke up. They decided they would switch back and forth so they each could share the bonding experience of feeding the baby in the night. Lisbon was thankful she didn't have to do that all the time.

"I'll tell you about your older sister. Yes, you have a sister, well had one and her name was Charlotte. She would be 18, though I sometimes see her in dreams and she's really happy. She was a feisty, little girl and very sweet. She loved my magic tricks which I will show you someday. She loved the beach and I will take you. I'll have to tell you some more stories, but I'm just introducing her so you know about her. I also used to tell her before she went to bed,You are safe, you are loved, you are wise. I'm saying this to you too, little girl." Jane finished a little teary eyed and Lisbon walked in the living room. "Is this story time too?" She smiled at her husband and at the baby.

"Did I wake you?" Jane asked looking up seeing his wife.

"No, my bladder did." Lisbon said coming close by him.

"I thought I should tell her about her sister." Jane confessed looking at his wife.

"I'm glad. I'm surprised you're talking about her."

"It's not as hard anymore." Jane said taking the bottle out, noticing the baby closing her eyes ready to go back to bed..

"Yes, he did." Lisbon said coming back from the memory. "It was very sweet."

After finishing visiting with Alex, Grace and Teresa gathered up Lisby's diaper bag and put Lisby back in the carrier and walked to the front door. She was pleased to see Alex, though she worried for her with her ex-boyfriend that interrupted them. JoAnn stopped them at the door and looked at them right in the eye. "Teresa, Grace, I thank you for coming to see Alex. She really does like visitors and she needs friends."

"Alex is such a nice girl." Grace said smiling. "I was very pleased to meet her today."

"She's a good friend. I'm glad I came, I feel so much better." Lisbon admitted.

"I didn't realize you're an FBI agent. I think Alex needs protection from that guy." JoAnn whispered. "I don't trust him. We need to keep her and Landon safe."

"I can talk to my boss about it." Lisbon reassured. "I want her safe too."

The women left to go to the car and Teresa carefully strapped Lisby in the carseat. Since last night, she felt better and more assured in taking care of her daughter. She shouldn't be so worried, after all she did raise her brothers for several years and protected them. Whatever happened yesterday was just from the stress she felt dealing with her father and trying to be the strong one all her life and maybe other factors of being a new mother and lack of sleep. It also felt very good getting back in her protective mode as a cop. Maybe that's what she needed as well, to work. She hadn't worked for three months and staying home most of the time with the exception of visiting Alex. It was nice being home with her husband and her child, but she was missing her job. It had been a part of who she was a majority of her life.

"We need to get to the FBI office." Lisbon said. She was going to make sure nothing happened to Alex and Landon. The girl deserved that much from her. She knew what it was like to have an abusive person around with her father and she did everything she could to protect her brothers.

"I agree, Lisbon. Do you think the guys are still there?" Grace said looking at Lisbon.

"I imagine." Lisbon answered.

Lisbon drove to the office and finally arriving there and the two women quickly got out and took the baby and entered the building. The elevator pinged to the right floor and opened and the women exited into the bullpen seeing the Jane, Rigsby, and Cho conversing about old times close toWylie working on his computer at his desk.

Jane noticed his wife and Grace coming in and Lisbon had a determined look on her face he had seen many times working with her when it involved trying to solve a case and ready for action. "How was your visit with Alex?" Jane asked as Lisbon came up carrying the carrier with their daughter.

"It was good, but we had an interruption. Her ex-boyfriend is after her and he's abusive. She needs protection." Lisbon stated seriously.

"Teresa, you are back to yourself." Jane grinned.

"When it comes to my friends, I want to protect them." Lisbon said. "Wylie, can you pull up a Kevin Elliot."

"Of course," Wylie agreed searching through the database. The picture of Scooter came up on the records with several list of his prior misdemeanors. "He's been arrested for asault, grand theft auto, theft, drugs and gang related crimes. The gang he's involved with is the Ironclad Apes."

"He sounds like a real winner." Grace said sarcastically.

"He tricked her well enough in the beginning." Lisbon admitted. "She definitely needs FBI's protection."

"I'll get a unit together." Cho said.

"Oh, wait a minute, I got something. The gang just had a head on fight with beating a business man and woman to death and suspected in trading drugs." Wylie informed.

"They came from Chicago?" Cho asked. "Most gangs stay in their territory and not travel other places. The other gang would definitely be after them."

"Which means we really need to keep watch on this situation." Lisbon stated seriously.

Jane grinned at his wife. "That's my woman, you're back."

"That is really strange they would come to another city." Grace indicated looking at the computer.

"There must be a drug trafficking going on if they are coming from city to city." Wayne admitted looking at the screen of what Wylie revealed.

"Cho, can you get a team together to help this girl and her baby?" Lisbon asked concerned looking Cho in the eye.

"I'll do what I can. Anything for you, Lisbon. Cho said. "I'll get a force together to keep watch at her house." Lisbon immediately gave the DeWinter's address.

Lisbon wanted to make sure Alex got the best protection that the FBI could give her and her baby boy as well as the DeWinters who were so thoughtful for taking Alex in the first place. She knew she couldn't be involved with the team because she had to care for her own child but she knew Cho would perform his job well. She knew that Jane would be after her for trying to get too involved with this investigation anyway with his protectiveness over her.

"Teresa, you realize you can't do it, you're still recovering from yesterday and Lisby's birth." Jane said looking seriously at his wife.

"I know, that's why I trust Cho to take charge." Lisbon said honestly.

The reason I'm doing the whole Alex's ex-boyfriend coming in was to help Lisbon out more and have her think about somebody else than her depression. She realizes she misses her job and would instantly come back into her cop mode after all she hasn't been working for a couple of months. I'm getting her back into her normal self. I don't know much about gangs and how they work and how to name one, so I apologize for any mistakes with talking about them in this chapter and the upcoming one. I'm bringing back Stan and his family soon too.
