She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Temari sat on the edge of the bed not saying a word as the blonde medic thoroughly checked her injuries. The normal chitchat that filled the room when the room whenever the two girls were together was replaced by an awkward silence. Neither knowing nor wanting to say anything to the other. Temari continued looking down at her feet intensely as if it was some sort of a game. She was taken back as she felt a sharp pain run up her back causing her to let out a sharp gasp.
"I'm sorry. This should be the last of it." Ino said.
To say that the situation was tense was putting it lightly in fact it was so thick it felt like it could be cut with a knife. She knew Ino wanted to ask, hell Ino probably should have asked but at the same time they both knew Ino would never ask and Temari would never tell.
"Ok Temari you're going to be alright. Just going to need a few more days of bed rest and then you should be right as rain." Ino said Temari gave a small smile and nodded. "Listen it's not my business so I don't think I should ask but-" Ino started before Temari held up a hand to stop her.
"Then don't ask." She said Ino looked at her nodded knowing she wasn't going to get any sort of an answer.
"Sorry." Ino said packing up her bag.
"Don't be….and thanks." Temari said giving a small genuine smile one of the few she had in weeks.
"No problem." Ino said walking out to the living room shutting the door behind her.
Ino walked into the kitchen to see Shikamaru sitting in a chair mindlessly playing with a shogi piece in his hand. He instantly turned to look at her as he stood up.
"How is she?" Shikamaru asked getting off the couch & walking over.
"Well it looks like I got most of the internal bruising & a couple cracked ribs it's most just superficial now. But you should have told me before! I don't know what could have gone unnoticed or healed itself incorrectly. Hell she could have had internal bleeding." Ino scolded Shikamaru. That was when she noticed he looked more concerned than she had ever seen him.
"I didn't know anything she refused to talk about it. She just showed me last night." He said putting a hand behind his head.
"Be honest with me Shikamaru. How long has she been here?" Ino asked curiously.
"I don't know maybe a week." He said meekly before adding. "But you can't tell anyone. You saw her she's in no condition to run again or to be interrogated we both know what would happen."
"You're putting your job at risk you know that." Ino said looking at Shikamaru.
"I know." He nodded.
"You might be thrown in jail." She said putting her hands on her hips.
"I know." He repeated.
"They can put you both to death." She said seriously he nodded solemnly.
"I know."
"Whoever did this tried to kill her. You realize they might come after you too don't you?" She asked though she didn't need to know the answer.
"I know."
A smile formed on her lips as she looked at him. "You're in love with her." This wasn't a question it was an observation it was his turn to smile now.
"I know." He said.
Ino knew right there that there was nothing she could say to change his mind now. Of all the horrible times for him to finally find a girl. But she couldn't be mad he'd been one of her best friends forever & finally see him like this melted her heart. If only Asuma was there to see.
"It's good to see you like this again." She said walking to the door he just looked away.
" Now are you going to help me or what?" He said she raised an eyebrow.
"What do you need?"
" We need to get some medical herbs from your greenhouse" He said she nodded.
"Anything. What's the plan?"
"I'll tell you when we get there." He said she nodded as he motioned for her to meet him there.
Temari stayed in the bedroom she could still make out a conversation in the living room but it wasn't loud enough to actually get any words out of it. She really didn't feel like leaving the room till Ino was gone. She wanted to stay by herself the whole thing was just too awkward to say the least. So she kept herself busy by finding some of Amai's clothes that could possibly fit her. She settled on a pair of black baggy PJ pants & a dark green tank top. She had just finished pulling her hair up when she heard a knock on the door.
"You dressed?" Shikamaru called to her she nodded.
"Yeah I am come on in." She called from where she was standing in front. He walked in looking at her for a moment. The clothes she was wearing were obviously a little too small. Not small enough to look bad but just enough to make certain assets stand out & he wouldn't complain. They looked much better on her then they had on Amai.
"You found something that fit good." He said looking at her as she nodded.
"Yeah I suppose. I hope I'm not being a huge bother. I just have to wash my clothes." She said he just shook his head.
"No I am sure if Amai was here she'd insist."He lied in fact if Amai found out he was hiding the blonde here, well needless to say it wouldn't of ended well.
"I'm sure you found a good one." She said he smiled half-heartedly he didn't really want to think about Amai not right now.
"So I came to tell you I'm going to the Yamanaka compound for a little bit I need Ino's help with something. Are you going to be ok here by yourself? It will probably be a couple hours at least." He said changing the subject suddenly as she turned back to the mirror.
Doing the last finishing touches on her hair she nodded watching his reflection in the mirror. "Yeah I will be fine don't worry about me. I'm a big girl after all." She teased slightly as he let out a sigh walking down the hall.
"It will be dinner at the very latest." He reiterated to her again.
"Ok mom I got it." She said with a smirk as she swore she heard him mumble troublesome from down the hall. Now was the perfect time to put her plan into action.
Where do we go now?
No, no, no, no, no, no
Sweet child,
Sweet child of mine
