A/N: Let me first start by saying how sorry I am for not updating earlier. My older brother came home during the winter break so I was pretty excited… till he reminded me that we had to run a 12k the next day since he signed us up. Imagine how displeased I was at that. I am a swimmer not a track or cross country person. For the next couple days I had to let my legs recover but ended up catching the flu and a fever during Christmas. =(
I am terribly sorry but I could of worked on this when my fever ended but I was still trying to get rid of the rest of the flu. If it's any consolation, I made this chapter extra-long for you guys. I have also found a beta for my story but am currently trying to find a way to send what I have to him to review so this chapter hasn't been reviewed by the beta due to me wanting to publish this so early. However the next one will be the first beta certified chapter. So please point out any mistakes you notice.

Percy POV
Tartarus is not a place you want to go to for vacation. Unless you like glass shard beaches, acidic air and monsters hunting you every five seconds than Tartarus is not the place for you.
I stood there surrounded by a horde of monsters snarling with drool dripping from their mouths. "I told you to halt in the name of Kronos!" I snarled. "If you don't stop then I will be forced to kill you all!"
"What can one demigod do to all of us?" A dracaena hissed. "You are injured and in our domain. We have the upper hand."
It was true, my throat burned with every breath I took and I haven't slept for days. I may have been in Tartarus for about three days but in the mortal world it could have been a week.
"He smells good…" a cyclops rumbled. "He smells like buttery bread." I could see all the monsters grin at that comment before advancing towards me. "If you are really working for Kronos then show us. Show us you are worthy to work for him. That you aren't some worm who is just falsely claiming nonsense."
I could feel a pair of eyes staring at me through the darkness as I readied the sword I took from Richard. How could Riptide honestly think that Richard would be a worthy wielder of that sword? Hades, a pig would be a worthier person than Richard.
The five monsters in front of me began to advance towards me. The two cyclops lunged toward me with arms raised toward me. They looked like five year olds trying to reach for candy. Their eyes glowing with glee… or rather eye. The first cyclops swung its club toward my face. Everything seemed to flow in slow motion.
Adrenaline coursed through my veins. I ducked and parried the club away. As I parried the club the second cyclops tackled me onto the ground. I let out a small oomph as I hit the ground. A dracaena slithered toward me with a spear. Smirking, it stabbed its spear downward. I turned my head to the side to avoid the spearhead before reaching with my free arms to grab ahold of the spear shaft.
I ripped the spear out of the dracaena's grasp and stabbed its head with the butt of the spear. The dracaena shrieked as she felt the spear butt smack her in the eye. I twirled the spear around and stabbed the spear point into the second cyclops eye. It shrieked in pain and exploded into a cloud of golden dust. An empousa licked its lips and extended its claws.
"You will taste delicious…" She bared her fangs and lunged toward my neck. I somersaulted to the side and swiped with riptide but the empousa leaped back and snarled. "Now that's not nice, we shouldn't have a weapon get in the way of our relationship."
"I'm sorry but I don't like human sucking vampire hybrids." I snarled.
The empousa looked at its two mismatching legs and growled. "Its not nice to bring my legs into this."
I smirked, "Who said anything about legs I was talking about how you were a hybrid of ugly and hideous."
The empousa snapped and lunged toward my face. I rolled and stabbed riptide upward through the empousa's stomach. She let out a shriek and exploded into a cloud of golden dust. Two down, three to go. I turned toward the cyclops and chucked my spear straight toward it. As the cyclops caught the spear I ran and jumped up, using the end of the spear as leverage to shove it into the cyclops. The remaining dracaena shivered in fright. I smirked as I advanced toward the remaining dracaena. I knocked its dagger out of its hands and held my dagger to its throat.
"Any last words?" The dracaena shivered but couldn't speak. I slowly dragged my dagger across its throat. I grinned as I watched the body fall to the ground before exploding into dust. Suddenly I felt a chill run up my spine.
I fell to my knees as I felt a knife slide into my stomach. A dracaena in behind me smiled as she drove the knife further into my body. I could feel the poison spreading throughout my body and working its way up to my heart. "You will taste amazing," The dracaena hissed.
I closed my eyes and waited for the world to end, "I failed you Lord Kronos…" I whispered, as soon as those words left my mouth a gust of cold wind blasted around me, knocking the dracaena to the ground and lifted me into the air. My eyes burst open with a golden light as all the wind seemed to be inhaled into my mouth. I felt myself be pushed out of my body and into the air. 'What's happening to me?' I thought confused as I stared at myself.
As my body was lowered to the ground, my body's eyes slowly opened revealing completely golden eyes. My body sighed, "A wonderful body, sadly this is only temporary." The voice sounded like metal scrapping against each other. The dracaena in front of my body gasped and quickly bowed.
"Lord Kronos!" My body or… Kronos slowly walked forward and ripped the dagger out of my body before shooting a golden light into the gaping wound, sealing it and purging the poison out of my body.
"You dare to strike a fellow ally who is helping me return? Do you wish that the world will still be ruled by the gods?"
The dracaena furiously shook her head. "The boy was searching for the Golden Sarcophagus to help resurrect me but instead he is delayed since he has to face little pests like you!" Kronos grabbed the dracaena's head and ripped it from its body. The head had a surprised expression on it before both the head and body crumbled into dust.
My body turned toward me and those cold golden eyes seemed to stare right through my soul. "Boy, you must succeed in your quest in finding the Sarcophagus. I will guide you but I will not always be there to help. You must fight your own battles. I have made an exception this time but you must prove you are worthy to work for me. Seek out the Phlegethon, the river of fire. Its properties will help heal you on your journey."
I tried to open my mouth to talk but it seems as if my vocal cords were missing. Kronos stared at me confused before realizing what I was trying to do. "Oh, I forgot." He snapped his fingers making my vocal cords reappear.
"Where can I find the Sarcophagus? I am wandering blindly through Tartarus without knowing which direction to go!"
"Patience, the Sarcophagus will call to you. It would be impossible to not feel it." The golden glow faded from my eyes as I felt myself being pulled back into my body.
"Great, I don't even know where to find the Phlegethon." I muttered. I trudged forward, toward the way I was going until I reached a ledge. About a thousand feet down was a river of fire. The waves thrashed wildly as the river looked uncontrollable. "How the Hades is that river supposed to help me?"
I sighed and began to prepare for the climb down the cliff. I tied a rope to a sturdy looking rock began tying it around my waist. I yanked the rock to make sure it was held tightly before beginning to descend the cliff. Halfway down a piece of rock crumbled beneath my hand making me lose my grip on the cliff. My eyes widened as I was plunged down about a hundred feet before being yanked hardly around my waist.
"Ah crap… I feel like my waist just got yanked out of my body in the most painful way." I groaned to myself. Suddenly I heard a snap and the rope holding onto my waist went slack. "Shit!" I yelled out as I plunged my knife into the cliff. I slid down the cliff for Gods know how far until my knife jerked and held in place.
I held my breath as I stared at the bottom of the cliff. I must have had the goddess Nike on my side as I stared the impossibly small crack that my knife got caught into. I stared back at the rocky wall in front of me as I tried to find a handhold.
When I finally reached the bottom, I collapsed onto the ground and kissed it. "Ground, beautiful ground," I immediately recoiled in disgust as I spat out golden dust. "Ugh… I think I just kissed monster dust."
I got up and turned toward the raging river of fire. It seemed to beckon me forward. As I cautiously walked forward flames rose from the river itself and twirled around each other and through the poisonous clouds floating above Tartarus. The river seemed to separate as a figure dressed in robes that seemed to be woven by flames itself.
The figure slowly raised its hands and lowered its hood to reveal a female face. Her eyes burned with intense fire; however it did not fill me with hope or fear. The woman slowly stepped forward and circled me.
Finally becoming impatient I brandished Riptide. "What do you want with me?" The woman stared at Riptide for a few mere seconds before it erupted into flames. I dropped it with a yelp and watch it dissolve. I stared at where it used to be in shock before turning toward the woman who had an impassive face.
"Has your mother ever taught you to never draw a weapon on a lady?" She questioned as she stared into my rage filled face.
"Taught? I wasn't taught, I was shot instead! I had to learn everything myself! I have no mother and I have no father nor do I need one!" I snarled. "And I don't see women or ladies, instead I just see monstrosities on two legs who think they can flaunt their authority anywhere they want."
The woman didn't react at all but rather examined my entire body. "You have quite the number of scars. Scars that haven't fully healed and may never will."
I scowled, wishing I had Riptide before remembering that I still had my dagger hidden in the waistline of my jeans. My hand slowly crept to the location of my dagger but I noticed the woman watching my hand.
"You know, I don't come out of my river for anyone."
I paused and stared at the woman in shock. "You… you are the Phlegethon?"
The woman nodded. "To say I am slightly surprised to see you in this area of the world is an understatement. Why would a lone demigod wander into the home of all monsters?"
"To seek vengeance," I replied. "I am tired of the Olympians throwing their power around. They act as if they are the only important person out there. They don't care for their children nor for any other minor gods. I am here to change that. I will bring the minor gods respect along with the rise of the titans! I will lead this generation into a new golden age! The gods will be cast down and Olympus razed of its glory!"
"Surely there are a few gods that you don't want to perish? Your Olympian parent? Any other god or goddess?"
"I have no godly parent, and no there are no Olympian gods I wish to keep alive." The Phlegethon wrinkled her nose.
"I may not be my sister the Styx but I could tell you are lying. You do have a godly parent and judging by what you told me I am guessing it is an Olympian. You have silver eyes and black hair with streaks of auburn, along with a small but athletic build. And by the way my sister still complains about one of the biggest oaths broken on her river I can guess that your Olympian parent may be-"
I growled, "Do you wish to finish or shall I shut you up now?" I asked pulling out my dagger menacingly.
The Phlegethon glared at me, "Don't presume yourself to be so foolish to attack me! I am the daughter of the Primordial Nyx. Defeat me than you shall face the rest of my sisters before my Mother."
"Primordial…?" I asked confused.
The Phlegethon sighed before facing me once more. "While I do not like your temper I shall allow you to drink from my waters. You shall bring massive change throughout this generation and I am interested to see what it is."
She melted back into the river before the river returned to its wild nature. My head was swimming with newfound knowledge. A primordial goddess… does this mean there could be an entire council of primordial gods and goddesses?
Focus Percy! I thought. Find the Sarcophagus first before worrying about an entirely new set of gods. I suddenly ruptured into a series of coughs. I stared at my skin and recoiled in disgust. My arms were covered in boils. I hurried over to the Phlegethon and sat down at its banks.
"Crap, what did the Phlegethon say? Something with her waters… am I supposed to drink it…?"
I watched as the fire splash everywhere as it crashed against the shore. Sigh… here goes nothing! I thought. I cupped my hands and dipped it into the river. A freezing cold sensation went over my hands as I quickly brought the liquid to my lips. As the liquid ran down my throat I felt as if I was hit by a ten ton twelve wheeler right in the throat. My throat felt raw and burned as if I had permanently made a paste for habaneros and spread it throughout my mouth and throat. My eyes began to tear up as my body jerked and twitched.
When it was finally over I noticed myself lying on the shore. I shakily rose and searched around. I found my sword, riptide lying on the ground besides me looking as sleek as ever. I quickly turned it into a pen before pocketing it, hoping I won't lose it.
A soft golden light seemed to pulse downstream. It lit the sky and it seemed to draw me toward its source. I noticed that it wasn't there before I drank from the river. I quickly walked forward trying to discover what it could possibly be.
An occasional monster or two… or twenty would cross my path, delaying my journey but I cut every one down as I grew impatient. I finally had it when a giant serpent crossed my path and bared it's fangs at me. "Oh for the love of Kronos."
I blindly reached behind me and pulled out a… bow. I stared at the thing in disgust but sighed. Archery was one of my strong points but it was a terrible reminder of many, many things. I took aim at the serpent as it slithered toward me and concentrated. I steadied my breathing and aimed straight for its cold yellow slit like eye.
I fired arrow after arrow but the serpent slithered and squirmed around every shot, but one arrow sailed true and hit it in the eye. It shrieked and glared at me in hatred. I could literally feel its gaze trying to burn through my soul. I spent the next five minutes jumping and dodging as the serpent lunged at me. When the serpent's head was finally close enough I leaped onto the head of the serpent and gripped for dear life. I reached into my jacket for my dagger and stabbed the serpent right above its eye.
The serpent buckled and threw me to the ground. My vision blurred as I saw a blurry green shape thrash around. Once the blurry shape stopped thrashing around I rolled to the side. Just in time as the serpent lunged and bit into a bunch of rock. The serpent reared back and spat a bunch of rock out in disgust.
As I looked down I noticed a fang sticking out of the ground. I yanked it out and scrapped it against the ground. My ears began to scream as a high pitched screech emitted from the objects. I could see the serpent shake as it closed its eyes in pain. I smirked and ran toward the serpent, dragging the fang across the earth behind me.
When I neared it I stabbed it through its torso. The serpent's eyes flew open and seemed to bug out of its skull. Venom oozed from the fang and dripped from the wound. I shoved it farther in and dragged it across the body.
Cold blue blood leaked from the wound and covered my arms. I reached into the wound and wrapped my hand around the largest organ I could grab. I pulled as hard as I could and ripped a large pinkish round organ from the body. The serpent shook before falling to the ground dead. The skin and inner organs began to quickly erode and dissolve into the ground until only the skeletal remains remained.
I panted as I stared at the corpse of the now deceased serpent. Venom dripped from its lips and disintegrated the ground below.
"Perseus…" The wind seemed to whisper.
"Gather the venom. Its elder python venom. It is one of the deadliest poisons out there. It inflicts intense pain as it slowly kills its victim. There has been no survivor and an antidote for this is near impossible. This would make excellent interrogation material and I would wish from a glass of this."
I sighed and looked around for anything to hold the venom in. When I pulled out my flask of nectar I began to hesitate. What if I needed it later on? There is no telling what could happen. After a few minutes I sighed and dumped the nectar onto the floor. Little did I know that would be one of the worst mistakes I would have made in this hellhole.
I gathered the venom in the flask before storing it away. Great now I have a flask of poison and no healing supplies! I grumbled but trudged on. The sooner I finished this mission, the sooner I would get back to my cruise ship, listening to music and relaxing.
Line Break
Luke POV
Flashback
You shall go west and face a god who has turned
You shall learn his purpose and recoil at what you learn
The objects you seek shall fall to the depths of hell
And the fallen shall break from their cell
The child of the moon will bring mayhem
But the quest will succeed by them
(I kind of wanted to change the prophecy a bit and don't worry I will change it in the last chapter)
Luke secretly grinned as he heard the son of Poseidon recite the prophecy.
"This quest seems truly terrible," Chiron said. "This seems just as bad as a great prophecy."
The other campers were in turmoil.
"Silence!" Chiron roared, "We must be wise in whom to send on this quest."
"The quest was issued to me, so obviously I should go." Said the son of Poseidon, Richard.
"We need experience on this quest Richard! You are a newbie! I volunteer to go!" Clarisse said.
"Hold up, everyone silent!" Annabeth ordered. "The child of the moon will bring mayhem." Annabeth recited. "Guys… you don't think that Percy…"
"Annabeth," I cut in. "Why would Percy want to betray us? We became friends with him right?" I looked to see everyone else just staring off in the distance or rubbing old wounds.
"Luke… remember right before he disappeared? He told Lady Artemis that he would make her regret everything she has ever done to him."
"Yea but mostly toward her specifically. Not us."
Annabeth sighed then snapped her fingers. "What about the last line? But the quest will succeed by them? Who is them?"
"Annabeth for all we know, them could just be the quest members." Katie Gardiner said.
I frowned, "Like a hidden ally?" Annabeth nodded.
"Well Annabeth, I don't know any hidden allies that could help the quest succeed… maybe Percy if he was willing to help."
"Luke it said them, as in plural. It would have to be multiple people who helped."
"Well Percy could be one person who helped."
Annabeth frowned, "Its a possibility but he might be pre-occupied with his plots of revenge against his mother."
"Um Annabeth? I don't know if you realized but it said objects. Maybe something other than Zeus's lightning bolt is missing?"
Annabeth froze then groaned. "This is so confusing!"
Flashback end
I grinned at the memory as I sipped on my lemonade. While there was one bad part to the prophecy the majority of it was good news for me. Perseus would bring mayhem and the fallen, hopefully the titans would rise." I can already imagine everyone's expression when they realize that Percy is leading the entire titan army against Olympus.
As the oracle foretold, the quest may succeed but the titans will rise.
And there will be no one that will stop them.
Percy POV
I gasped as I stared at the temple looming over me. The temple was made of obsidian walls with ivy growing around it. Black marble columns rose from the floor and dripped something that suspiciously looked like blood from the ceiling. Two statues of black armored Spartans stood in front of the entrance. However it seemed to have small adjustments such as having wings and along with the ability to run… wait run?
I focused at the Spartans charged toward me with swords brandished. I was in no condition to fight. I was exhausted and tired. I staggered backwards and tried to run but ended up being tackled from behind. I was pinned as the second Spartan held his sword toward my throat.
"Wait! I am here in the name of Lord Kronos! Please do not murder me, I beg of you." I pleaded. The Spartans froze then stepped away from me. "Follow," One Spartan said as he led me into the temple. I walked down a hall with skulls hanging from the side of the walls and blood streaked across the walls. I could hear cries of pain from somewhere downstairs. When we reached the grand room I noticed a woman sitting on a throne overlooking the entrance.
"Milady, we have brought a boy who is here in the name of Kronos." The Spartan in front of me said.
The woman was beautiful. She had pale skin and black eyes with ebony hair that's cascaded down her back. She had a small black crown with blood red rubies embedded into it. She also wore a black dress that shimmered and rippled. At her side were two horses that were completely black. They glared at me as I walked to the front of the throne.
"Leave me," The Spartans nodded and walked away. I watched as the lady examined me from head to toe. "Take off your shirt," She ordered. I was about the protest when her eyes grew completely black and the shadows in the room edged toward me.
I quickly stripped myself of my shirt in hopes of not angering the woman as power seemed to roll off her in waves. I felt as if I was a speck of the planet that she could easily brush away. "You have many scars that litter your body. If I didn't know any better I would say you looked like a mangled teddy bear."
I scowled, "I am here for a golden Sarcophagus."
The woman nodded and rose from her throne. "I could give it to you… for a price."
My eyes narrowed, "How big is it going to be?"
The woman shrugged, "Just some of this, some of that, nothing major."
"What would you ask me to do…?" I asked warily.
"Well first I would want to know why a demigod such as yourself want to overthrow the gods?"
"As I told many, the gods have ruled for too long, I am sick of how they rule the world and wish for nothing but their end. Their children are used like animals and the minor gods are shown zero respect. They believe themselves to be the strongest beings in the world. I want to show them their place. That they can't just throw their power and authority around and smite anyone who questions their ruling. Its not a democracy, it's a dictatorship."
The woman nodded and lightly touched my chest. "I could give you power, I could give you fortune. I could make you a god."
I raised an eyebrow but didn't speak.
"The power you could receive from me could erect a new era. You would have the might to overthrow the gods and rule the world in the palm of your hand. All you would have to do is leave that petty Kronos and pledge your new allegiance to me."
"But… I don't even know who you are!" I protested.
The woman grinned, "I believe you already met my daughter, the Phlegethon. She was in here a few hours ago telling me how despicable you were."
"Wait… are you the primordial?"
The woman gave me a go on gesture.
"Are you… Nyx?"
The woman gave a small clap, "Excellent you know my name, now I am sure you realize that it would take little effort for me to flick Kronos away. However if I were to help you destroy Olympus then I could have it done in a year that would take Kronos ten."
I frowned, "But wouldn't Kronos make a good ally?"
Nyx sighed, "Kronos would only slow you down, he doesn't want you to rule. Once the Olympians are conquered Kronos would immediately turn on you and kill every demigod and minor god who supported him just for entertainment. However if you side with me I could give you a part of the earth to rule. Your own kingdom full of people you wish to be alive. I would even allow you to pick the location and the size, all you would have to do is leave more than half of the world to me to rule."
My mouth dropped. "I… I…"
Nyx smirked, I will give you an hour to decide, until then I will be gone to leave you to your decisions. Kronos or me."
A/N: I am so sorry but I just had to add Nyx, she is just one of my favorite characters. She is such a badass too. A primordial god of shadows and night. I am sorry if you don't want Nyx in the story but I just thought it might make it interesting added to the fact that Nyx is… well I just think she is awesome. Also I may edit this later, I am just too lazy to right now.
Also I hope you liked my new version of the prophecy, I just added a few tweaks here and there. It took me around fifteen minutes to do. Now I don't know if you would want the quest POV since it might be a bit interesting to see what it is like for them or just continue with Percy's. I hope you guys like the idea of evil Percy. Also I figured if I included Nyx I am pretty sure you guys could guess who was THEM in the prophecy. Also I hope you guys like the idea of me adding them in. I'm trying to come up with fresh ideas but mostly I only got ideas for different stories that I think are amazing. So I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me with suggestions. If I like your idea and use it I will give you a big shout out and give credit to you for your idea. Until next time.
