Chapter Twenty-four: Distraction Pt.1

Third Person's POV

Kisame's instincts started to tingle an hour after everyone had left the house.

Kakuzu had suggested that Kisame be the one on the front porch acting as sentry as he had uncanny instincts, no matter if it was in this dimension or in their home dimension. Kisame had no protests as he too trusted his instincts. Kakuzu was good, but there was a reason Kisame had lived longer in their world. Well having Samehada had helped too but he liked to think he survived on his own merits.

Back to his instincts, it was slowly tightening his muscles as he unconsciously prepared for a fight.

A flash of a cute smile and trusting brown eyes were the only thing holding him back when the protection circle over the house and perimeters seemed to brighten instantaneously. He looked down the road, about a mile, to see dark energy materializing at the gates as whatever it was pushed at the shields.

"Ariel was right." Kakuzu murmured as he appearing beside Kisame in a shunshin. Kisame nodded.

"So were you it seemed."

"Whatever that thing is, if it's putting that much strain on a shield forged from centuries of family magic, we won't win if we're going in blind like this." Kakuzu muttered grouchily. Kisame chuckled knowing Kakuzu would have liked to have the heart of the creature causing the shield to crack like ice.

"Finally got to read the whole book?"

"Sasori had no more use of it." Kakuzu muttered. "This demon is strong if it can do this without burning up."

Kisame stood sighing. "We'd better get the kids and take them to the panic room now. I'm not going to risk their safety on the off chance we might actually be able to win against this thing."

"We won't. Nagato-sama told us to stay alive."

"Hmm. Squishy wouldn't like it if I died on him."

"Nor would Keira." Kisame nodded before he chuckled.

"We've grown soft all because of a bunch of brats."

"If we're going into the panic room then I assume you'll be the one to fight this demon, Connie?"

"So you do have a brain." Kisame and Kakuzu turned slightly to see Connie walking out of the shadows.

"I thought you went with the others." She waved a dismissive hand at Kisame's inquiry.

"Amaya will be fine as long as her boyfriend keeps his focus. And from all I've seen in the past three days, he doesn't break his mask. You two on the other hand better get the kids to that panic room before that b*tch breaks the barrier."

"You don't seem too concerned about that." Kisame noted.

"I can take her with one hand tied behind my back. That shield won't hold up forever against her unfortunately." A dark mist enveloped Kisame and Kakuzu.

"I don't think killing us would do you any good." Kakuzu growled.

"It would do me a lot of good. But I did tell my daughter I wouldn't kill you." She waved her hand throwing Kisame and Kakuzu into the living room before the front door slammed shut and a film covered it.

"I can understand Amaya a little better now." Kisame grunted getting up. "Her mother throws a lot of weight around."

"Let's go." Kakuzu ordered rolling his eyes. "We need to inform Nagato about this."

"Sure, get the kids. I'll tell him and open the door." They separated in a silent shunshin.

Meanwhile a in a different part of the country, a group of ninja and witches were organizing after being spit out of a portal. In front of them was a small town that looked like any other run of the mill town with people going about their after-dinner things with their family. They didn't seem to notice the small dark objects darting around in the shadows and if they did, they sure didn't let it show.

"Do you really think they're here, un?" Deidera crouched with Sasori and Melody behind some rocks as they surveyed the town from behind some sparse trees. Itachi and Ariel were only twenty feet away behind a clump of rocks. In front of them was what looked the end of a main street as people talked and laughed while walking with their children. The odd thing was, there were no birds, insects chirping, or pets running around. It was also clean.

"They're here alright." Melody answered wrinkling her nose.

'Cute.' Deidera thought before jerking himself back to the mission.

"I can smell the stench of rotting meat along with dry earth." Deidera's mind couldn't help but wonder how accurate her sense of smell was. Although he could probably expect it to be as sharp as the Hatake's since they were both associated with dogs.

"Do you know where the entrance is?" Sasori asked surveying the street carefully memorizing faces and the buildings.

"It's in the Gold Diner. There should be an underground tunnel underneath it that leads to the main halls. My guess about the second entrance would be the school. Demons tend to orient around places younger children frequent, whether against their will or not." Sasori nodded thinking through the scenarios they could use for this.

The distraction would have to work first other wise they wouldn't be able to get anywhere. But as for how many demons were in town, they probably were all demons but he couldn't be sure about that since Analia had said the humans were still inside the demons somewhere. From his research even if they did get all the humans exorcised, they were never the same afterwards. They all ended up dying later on. They were going to have to kill them anyway since Hidan was here and he didn't stop once he was let go.

His ring lit up with chakra causing him and Deidera to lean back and rub the ring. Mental voices greeted them in a cachophony before they were silenced by Kisame's voice.

'Nagato-sama, they're here. Kakuzu and I are getting the kids to the panic room.' Deidera gave him an uneasy glance.

'They're f*cking there?" Hidan cussed.

'Can you tell how many are there?' Yahiko asked cutting in.

'No. Connie is taking care of them.' He should have noticed the evil witch wasn't with them.

'If that's the case then you and Kakuzu will need to take care of the children. Make sure no harm comes to them and we will return once we are finished here.'

'Has anyone f*cking located the second sh*tty entrance yet?' Hidan asked rudely.

'Melody-chan identified it as under the school.' Sasori replied dryly. He ignored Deidera's brief glare and moving closer to Melody as she was scouting.

'Analia has spotted another entrance on the west side of town beneath the auto shop. It looks like the emergency getaway.' Itachi reported.

'Good. I want everyone to listen carefully.' Nagato ordered. 'Naruto and Sasuke will make a distraction in the North end of town while Kakashi and Sakura take the Southern side of town. Itachi and Sasori you will lead your groups down into the tunnels through the Auto Body tunnels. Hidan I want you to cause as much trouble as you can.'

'About f*cking time!' Hidan's gleeful voice cheered.

'Good luck everyone.'

'Hai Leader-sama.' The link was cut just as a loud explosion came from the North end of town. Sasori made out a golden figure on fire alongside another figure cloaked in purple chakra.

"I'm guessing that's the signal?" Melody asked amused as the 'people' all stopped what they were doing to stare first at the explosion and then at their hiding places.

"Yes."

"Let's go." Deidera called as he and Itachi darted forward into the town. Sasori followed alongside Ariel and Melody. already preparing for the fight against the demons who rushed at them.

"Dammit." Azazel the demon growled as he heard the loud explosion through the tunnels. He was just getting to the fun part too as he had an hour until midnight. He growled as another explosion sounded from the opposite side of the base.

The sound of footsteps alerted him to the Commander.

"What's going on?" Azazel growled as Cree came to a stop in front of him.

"We've got company. The ninja your little plaything kept hidden have found us." Cree reported as she sneered at the body on the floor behind Azazel.

"Sh*t. How long until they get here?"

"Hard to say. They have a group at almost every exit and the only other way out is to go deeper before we emerge at the Lake. Lilith wants us to eliminate them though." Azazel nodded and exited the cell.

"What about the experiments?" Cree's smile was absolutely blood thirsty as she pulled out a list of names from her pocket.

"Lilith said these would be the first. She's coming back as soon as she gets the mirror, but we can begin without her." Azazel nodded seeing the instructions on the list. His smile was even worse than Cree's as he turned to look at the semi-broken Guardian in the cell.

"Looks like our time is up Guardian Black. I enjoyed playing with you." Her dull blue eyes didn't even flinch when he reentered the cell and dragged her out. He turned to Cree. "Get the other creatures and another Guardian. But only one."

"As you wish Azazel." Cree smirked.

Azazel continued on his way whistling the tune of a show he'd heard when he'd last been above ground. "Heigh ho, it's off to work I go…" Unbeknownst to him, the Guardian he dragged woke from her stupor to think one pain-filled thought.

'Itachi…'

On the other side of the base fighting against various demons a certain Uchiha's eyes glinted as he responded.

'Amaya, I'm coming.' He leaped back from a demon and glared as he uttered, "Amaterasu." The tunnel he was in burst into black flames as demons (well their bodies) burned in the eternal black fires.

Meanwhile, as the fights and battles in Nevada went underway a certain witch stood outside of a farmhouse watching as a mass of darkness fought against the Black family shields to get to a mirror that was hidden upstairs in a closet.

Connie's eyes narrowed as the shields started to crack in some places. She breathed in and breath centering herself for the fight that was coming at her. She would have much preferred to fight her own daughter as her baby girl had always been more feisty and was entertaining in her own way, but this was good too. For the past forty odd years she'd practiced magic in the hopes that she would be able to protect her family from any evils that came. She might not have succeeded but at least she could take her frustrations out on the one being her family was cursed by.

The shields cracked more as she felt the two ninja's inside get her niece and nephew to safety. She knew that this particular demon wouldn't go down without a fight and while she was evil herself, there was no way in hell she would allow her to bring about the death of her family or the world. If you didn't have family to mercilessly taunt then were did that leave you? If she didn't have random strangers to kill then what was the point? Lilith's mirror would cause the death of everyone but it would also be the birth of true evil. The world just didn't seem to be able to handle that.

With that thought the shields all around the ancestral Black family broke allowing in the most powerful demon since the fallen angel Lucifer.

But instead of rushing into the house in a mass of black smoke Lilith reformed ten feet in front of Connie with a smile on her face and ice in her eyes.

"Hello Connie. It's been so long since I last saw you. You've grown a bit since then."

"Quit talking. I know why you're here and I just wanted you to know that you're going to have to kill me to get it Lilith." Lilith actually pouted.

"Oh, but I was so hoping we could catch up. You know your daughter looks like you, both of them. And your son is so handsome." Connie didn't blink. "I surprised to see your husband in Nevada. Didn't anyone want you to go save your daughter?"

"My daughter has too many going to save her. Although I'm surprised that you didn't bring any of your little fairies with you. You were always good at hiding behind some." Lilith's eyes narrowed dangerously.

"Watch what you say. I can still have your daughter killed before the cavalry saves her." Connie raised an eyebrow.

"So? My daughter led a good life. I'm pretty sure she'll join her ancestors in Heaven."

"Something you'll never be able to do." Lilith smiled at Connie's glare. "It does bother you doesn't it? That you'll never be with your family in Heaven." She spat the name. "And here I thought you were made of stone."

"As you can probably hear I still have a body." Lilith nodded.

"Such a shame I'm going to have to rip your heart out of your chest. Hmm, maybe I can do that in front of your little family when I sacrifice you." Connie's hand reached forward into the air and pulled a staff out of a small black rip before twirling it expertly.

"I believe I received some good advice once, I think you'd benefit from hearing it." Lilith's eyes narrowed as she crouched defensively.

"And what is that?"

"If you're going to kill someone, kill them, don't stand around talking about it."

"Then I suppose I should kill you and keep you from deluding yourself from living." That's the thing isn't it? Connie thought as Lilith lunged. Connie was prepared to die before she let the b*tch do something like kill them all. After all, she had nothing to live for. Her husband had left her long ago, so had her lovers. Her children were grown and could take care of themselves. Her family were all forbidden to see her or interact with her. She was alone. With that knowledge, she could die at any moment and not feel regret or sorry.

She swung her staff while simultaneously shooting a spell at Lilith.

GM NASAI: Damn... I was trying to get as much as I could into this chapter but once again I have brought failure to myself and my expectations. But honestly there was nothing else I felt needed to be put into this chapter. It all seems to be going good I think. And I even put in some OC's and various POV's. I'm satisfied. Not happy but satisfied. Which leads to me thanking you all for reading this chapter as I have probably been procrastinating for a long time again. Doing nothing is just too easy. Well I wasn't doing nothing I had school and work along with responsibilities. Being an adult sucks. Oh well, no going back now.

So I have a favor to ask of all you readers. I have been meaning to do another Omake but unfortunately I don't know what to do one about. I have ideas, don't get me wrong, but they're for my other stories. So if you have an idea about an omake, then please share. I don't even mind if you make up an OC of your own and want me to have them meet the Akatsuki or the Guardians.

On that note I leave you guys. Thanks for reading.
