I have been getting so many messages asking when am I going to post a chapter. Ta-da! I will post the chapters that I have. I have done several chapters and I have to do the editing. I will try to post at least two of them this week. I can't make any promises but I will do what I can to get at least five of the chapters that I have done posted. Some of the characters belong to Charlaine Harris. Some of them belong to me but the story idea is mine. I hope that you all enjoy. So, enjoy.
Godric leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms over his chest. He stared at Sookie with complete amazement in his eyes. He was even more fascinated by her than he was in the beginning. He didn't know what the faery princess was up to but he couldn't wait to find out.
"Sookie, you have surprised me yet again," Godric answered. "Kill one of your own." He cocked his head to the side and stared at her. "You know that you don't need our permission for that. You are quite aware of your position and your power when it comes to your people. It is not a secret that you have a little more control in this realm now; especially with Adele gone. She made those decisions and that torch has been passed on to you. You don't have to put this request before us."
Eric saw the flash of sadness that ran across his beloved wife's face after Godric had spoken the unspoken truth. Everyone knew that her status in this realm and in Faery has changed but until now, she'd never had to face it. She never had to acknowledge it.
Giving her a sideways smile, Godric said, "I think that you, my dear Mrs. Northman, are you something astounding. You have me intrigued."
With the sadness gone, Sookie's face was as impassive as ever. Staring Godric in the eyes, she said, "You're smarter than you look. Alas, it is you that has surprised me. And don't get it wrong, council member. I belong to Eric."
Shiloh chuckled.
Sandy guffawed.
Eric sat taller as pride appeared proudly on his face.
Godric smiled broadly as he looked at her, admired her … as he longed for her. She was brave and loyal. She's funny and she's so intelligent. She's also beautiful and charming. He stared at her and imagined how great his life would be if she was his. He imagined rising to the sounds of her laughter and her voice. He imagined rising to that beautiful smile every night. He imagined loving her and holding her; never letting go of her; never wanting to let go of her. She was everything that a mate should be and she belonged to the Northman. Eric Fucking Northman has what he wants and from the look in his eyes and the way he touches her and watches her, he's never going to let her go. And why would he? He'd be a fool.
"Godric?" Shiloh said.
When he heard his voice being called, he played off his daydreaming as if he had a lot on his mind. "I was just thinking about Sookie and …"
"I'm sure you were," Shiloh replied snidely. "Sookie, tell us what you want from us. What do you expect from us? Tell us why you've come before the council to ask if you can kill your kin. As Godric said earlier, I as well, am intrigued with your answer."
Instead of addressing the council directly, Sookie walked over to where her husband was sitting. She looked at him as she began to speak. "There's nothing wrong with being in love. It's our greatest gift. It's what keeps us alive. There's no shame in it. What more could you want? What more could you seek? Love doesn't make you weak. If anything, love gives you strength and determination. I say this because I'm not ashamed to let any of you know that I am completely and totally in love with Eric Northman. He is my weakness. In my eyes, he's perfect. He was made especially for me."
Eric's eyes blazed beautifully as he listened to Sookie's profession of love for him.
She reached out and touched his cheek. "He is mine and I belong only to him."
Eric stood tall and held Sookie's hand to his chest. "I am yours," he said huskily. He kissed the tips of her fingers before returning to his seat. Slowly, he released her hand.
Forcing herself to look away from him, she looked out into the room that was filled with vampires, shifters, and Weres. "I say this because it's necessary for you all to know that there is nothing that I wouldn't do for him. Absolutely nothing," she repeated.
That's when Claudette and Bella popped onto the stage with Antony shackled with magic cuffs. He'd been beaten. He'd been tortured. Sookie could see that Claudette and crew had more than enjoyed questioning Antony. Claudette handed Sookie a sheet of paper before she and Bella popped away.
Sookie walked circles around Antony as she looked him up and down. She could smell that his scent had been weakened. His magic had diminished to almost nothing. She smiled as she looked him. Eric watched her.
He couldn't tear his eyes away. She looked so beautiful, so elegant. She's so loyal and so brave. He stared at her and realized how great his life has been with her in it. He enjoyed waking up to the sounds of her laughter and her voice. He enjoyed knowing that that special smile was meant only for him. He was going to love her and hold her for the rest of his nights. He was never going to let her go. And why would he? He'd be a fool.
Sookie looked over and her husband and smiled.
"Would you like to introduce our new guest?" Shiloh asked. "I can only assume that he is that fae that you were speaking of?"
"He is," Sookie answered with a nod. "His name is Antony. He was my fae guard. I'd only met him a couple of days ago. He claimed to have been working under Eric's and my employment for three years." She stopped and stared at him and said, "Three years and he never once crossed our paths. It's so surprising that he's worked for us for three years and no one in our retinue had ever met him. No vampire. No Weres. No shifters and no faeries. Not one," she added for emphasis.
As she read over the paper that Claudette gave her, she smiled. "The faery that he'd claimed recommended him for the job has never heard of him. I find that kind of odd, don't you?"
Antony looked straight ahead … not saying a word.
"When did you notice him?" Godric asked her as a frown appeared on his face.
"The day that Lady Brigant and I were shopping in New York," Sookie answered. "As you all know, we were attacked that day. We lost some of our kinsmen during that so called ambush. It was a sad day." She looked down at her hands as she thought of Roosevelt. He died in her arms. He died fighting for her and Claudette. "We lost ten of our people. Did you know that, Antony? They died fighting for me; trying to protect my life as they gave up their own. Their blood is on my hands and it's because of you."
Again, he didn't answer her. He didn't acknowledge a word she'd said.
"It was you that paid off the doorman."
He looked at her from the corner of his eye.
"Neave and Lochlan did a little detective work," she said as she moved in closer to his body … whispering in his ear. "You did an almost impeccable job of covering your tracks but we got you."
His body stiffened but he still said nothing.
Sookie traced her finger along his arm and he shivered. Eric growled. "You planted the dreams. You planted the smells of Faery in my mind. You almost succeeded in getting Eric to attack you. You were doing your best to get me back into Faery. It all makes so much sense now. You wanted me for yourself. You were to be my chosen fae lover."
This time he decided to speak. "You're right. You were supposed to be mine. You were promised to me. Once the marriage contract to vampire was over, the plan was that you were to be mine but Adele ruined that when she took a bite of the deadliest fruit. It was called off but I couldn't let that happen. There was no way that I was going to miss my chance." He shook his head. "There was no way."
Sookie's eyes widened at that revelation. She turned to look at Eric. His face and emotions didn't change at all. As far as he was concerned, whatever Fintan had done after Adele died, was of no consequence. He could never apologize enough for what he'd almost done to them.
Antony looked into Sookie's eyes and said, "You are supposed to be with me."
She shook her head no. "No, I'm not. I'm where I'm supposed to be."
Sandy decided to speak up. She was showing some real interest for the first time. "All of that is fine and dandy but what happened with him and Eric? Are you saying that he tried to get Eric to attack him?"
"No," Sookie replied. "I'm not trying to say anything. I said it."
After almost two hours of saying nothing, Sophie Ann chimed in. "Why would he do that? I mean, Eric could've ripped his fucking head off. He must be one brave faery or either he's dumb as hell."
Shiloh rolled her eyes. "Why do you even speak? Why?"
Sophie Ann was shocked. "I'm a part of this council too. I have the right to ask questions. I want to know why he would risk his life. I want to know why he would do it. Eric would have drained him."
Shiloh shook her head and sighed. "She told you why, dimwit. He wanted her for himself. He figured if he could get Eric to attack him or at least get Sookie to want to go home to Faery, she'd never come back. She'd stay there with him. The contract between the vampires and the faeries would be null and void. Eric would have ruined everything with a little faery help. Go somewhere and stake yourself, Sophie Ann. You'd be better off."
"Fuck you," Sophie Ann mumbled.
Godric was angry. "Is this true?" he asked as he blurred before Antony.
Antony only smiled.
"It's true," Sookie confirmed. "Here, let me show you."
Sookie grabbed Godric's wrist and showed him everything. She showed him the memories that Antony would use to make Sookie homesick. She showed him how Antony would suggest that she return to Faery with him; the scents from Adele's garden. She showed how she'd gotten the faery to let down his guard and she could see some of what his true intentions were. She showed him what Eric showed her when he and Antony had their confrontation. She'd conveniently left out the dreams of the children and of her pregnancy but she showed him everything else.
Godric saw how Eric composed himself upon seeing Sookie and the guard playing a board game. He saw how Sookie's eyes and demeanor changed when Eric walked into the room. He could see the very adoration and pure love that Sookie had spoken of having for Eric only moments ago. He could see that the faery princess really does believe that her husband is perfect in every way. And nothing or no one could ever change her mind.
"My lover," Godric whispered as he looked at Sookie.
Eric growled angrily. Sookie sent him calmness. He didn't realize that Godric was living in that moment. He meant no disrespect to Eric's term of endearment for Sookie. She turned to look at her husband; shaking her head. "He doesn't realize what he's saying, Eric. He's reliving that night as if he was you. He means you no disrespect."
Eric made no comment. Though he understood it, he still didn't like it.
Godric frowned and growled; just as Eric had done that very night. He was seething with anger. His fangs had descended. A deep growl had built in his chest. Sookie had to release his wrist in order to bring Godric back to the here and now. When she released him, the vampire was breathing as if he was a human. As if he'd really been there that night. As if Sookie truly belonged to him.
"He should've killed you," Godric said as he looked into the eyes of the faery.
"Come, Godric," Sandy said. "Calm yourself."
Godric stood behind Sandy but didn't take his eyes off of Antony.
Sandy eyed the faery guard closely. "Who sent you?"
Antony smirked. "I don't answer to you, vampire," he spat.
Sophie Ann looked at Sookie and asked, "Did he tell you?"
Sookie shook her head no; which wasn't a lie. "He hasn't uttered a word but what you don't seem to understand is that to me, it does not matter."
Needless to say, it mattered to them. Anyone who is trying to destroy all they've worked for needs to answer for it. They needed to pay for it. They were not going to let it slide. "Maybe it was Fintan. It is possible that he has set this up," Godric thought aloud.
"Or Brendan," Shiloh stated. "Of the royal family, in the beginning, when the idea of you and Eric being together was put before us, he was the only one to oppose the union of the vampire and the fae. It is said that he has since changed his tune but he's a faery. They can't be trusted." She looked at Sookie and said, "Though I wasn't speaking of you, Sookie, I mean no offense."
"Offense taken," Sookie said.
Shiloh gave her a slight shrug before speaking. "Anyway, there's no point in being shy now, Antony. Tell us what you know."
Antony remained quiet.
Sandy returned his smirk. "Maybe you didn't understand my question. Let me try to dumb it down. You were either sent here or you're stupid. You planned and plotted." She began to pace back and forth in front of him. "The homesickness, the suggestions that she return home," she said. "Who sent you?"
He spat in Sandy's face. It landed on her lips.
She smiled at him as she licked it away. "Almost as sweet as your blood," she whispered. Loudly, she stated, "You realize that you've sealed your fate. The vampire/faery marriage is sacred in our world. You know that no one is to interfere with their marriage."
Antony stared straight ahead. He would never betray Fintan. Fintan is their leader. It's not his fault that Adele ruined their plan. It's not their fault that Fintan's guilt made him call it off. Antony was determined that they were going to see it through. They were going to bring their princess home and she was going to be with him. They were going to lead their people and control their homeland together. Together, he and Sookie were going to prosper.
Looking at Eric, Antony said, "Why does it matter who sent me? It changes nothing. He can't give her what I can. I am her kin. I can do things for her that the vampire wishes that he could do; though things seem to have shifted in our worlds. I know of the changes that have been brought forth, my princess."
Sookie only stared at him and smiled.
Eric's fangs had descended and before he could remove himself from his seat, Godric stopped him.
"He's not worth it, Eric."
Sookie made her way to stand by Eric. "He's right, my dearest love. He isn't worth it. Bide your time," she whispered. "It will soon come."
"So," Godric said as he faced the princess. "What is your reasoning behind this? Why have you paraded your disloyal kinsmen before us? As I said before, you didn't need our permission. You could've killed him that night. You didn't have to ask the council for this."
Taking Eric's hand into hers, Sookie said, "I want to give Antony to Eric as a gift. He tried to goad my husband into attacking him and I want him to do him one better. I want Eric to kill him."
Eric stood to his full height as he pulled Sookie into his body and looked into the eyes of his amazingly, wonderful wife. "You don't have to do this, Sookie," he whispered. "You can send him back to Faery; banish him from the earthly realm altogether."
Smiling up at him, she said, "But I won't."
"No, you won't," he replied.
With Sookie's hand in his, they went and stood in front of Antony together. "Thank you, my lover. This is quite the gift. Faery blood hasn't been spilled by a vampire in quite some time but I'm a married man. I'm not interested in drinking Antony's blood; not after tasting the sweetest nectar I've ever known."
Sookie looked up at Eric and licked her lips. She swallowed hard and deep as she nodded her approval.
Nostrils flared and fangs dropped from all around as vampires inhaled the intoxicating scent of aroused faery. The members of the council kept their eyes on Sookie. They watched the way she eyed Eric … the way she touched him … the way she licked her lips. They each envied the Viking. They wished that for one night they could be him. To be able to know of the pleasures she provides. The sound of her voice brought them back to reality.
"So what do we do with him, my dearest love?" Sookie asked. "We can't release him because he will not stop in his quest to make me his."
Eric released Sookie's hand and stood toe to toe with the faery. "You are right. Since he plays the victim so well, let's make him the victim." He looked behind Antony and motioned for Sophie Ann to join them.
When she stood with her fellow council members, Eric turned to face the panel of illustrious vampires and made his decision. "My fellow vampires, my wife has given you the shifters. I give you the faery guard. Do with him as you wish."
They looked at Sookie for approval. "Before you do, I want to let you all know the reason I'm doing this. This faery tried to destroy what Eric and I have built and worked so hard to achieve it. Know that I will fight for what is mine. I will kill for what is mine. If I will kill my kinsman for the love of my husband, imagine what I will do to you."
A slow smile spread across Shiloh's face. "Ruthless," she said. "I like that."
Sophie Ann said, "Shouldn't we wait for André to have a taste? He is the head of the council. Plus, Antony is full fae. Shouldn't we at least let him get a taste? I'm sure he would …"
"Shut the fuck up," Sandy said. "Give him your portion. He should've made an appearance tonight."
"His loss," Godric replied.
The vampires looked at Sookie as they licked their lips; waiting for her to tell them to drain the faery dry, waiting for her to give them their first taste of fae blood in years. She finally gave them the go ahead.
"Do with him as you wish," Sookie answered. "Drink him dry."
Each council member looked at Sookie and thanked her as their fangs slowly descended from their gums. Eric and Sookie stood back and watched as the members of the council latched on the faery guard.
Antony didn't scream. He didn't whimper. He took his punishment like a true male fae should. He looked in the eyes of his princess and nodded.
"They all know what we're capable of now," Sookie whispered as she turned to look up at her husband. "They will see us for what we truly are, my dearest love. Justice will belong to us."
"And retribution will be swift," Eric replied.
