Elena's p.o.v.

Elena laughed a little bit at the reply she got from Rebekah. There was definitely something there between the two of them… She could tell from the kiss alone. It had woken some deep craving inside of her. One she hadn't needed to satiate for a long time.

Almost two years, she counted. Chuckling only slightly as her eyebrows furrowed. Two years? It seemed like it had been much shorter than that… But time really did seem to fly when you didn't give a fuck about anyone or anything. Admittedly there were a few things she cared about and a few people, but for the most part she never had, and she had no intention of doing so any time soon.

She began her walk to school, kicking pebbles across the cement sidewalk. She looked up at the sky, and saw the clouds were mildly overcast. She smiled a little bit at that. She really did despise when the sun was bright, something about it irked her and no matter how hard she tried to get passed it she never could.

She preferred the gloomier days, the days when the sun sat behind the clouds contemplating its next move, while the clouds simply existed in front of it. She also preferred sitting at home writing in her journal, or reading a novel than going to school. And at this moment, she would have preferred Rebekah's lips on her own over all of it.

She could still feel it; the tingle of Rebekah's lips pressed firmly against her own. She could still feel the way it left her breathless, gasping for air but craving the slow torture of asphyxiation. 'Death by kisses' She laughed silently at herself as she pulled her phone out of her pocket, put her headphones in and listened to some music as she walked.

Her feet fell in tune with the beat, as she marched through downtown. It was only 7am, so the streets were almost bare. She liked it at this hour, when not a soul was awake to disturb her wonderful peace. A familiar beep from her phone drew her hand to her pocket, to lift her phone out and read whatever was there.

Caroline: Hey where have you been these past few days girl? It's like you're here but, you're not here.

Elena read and re-read the message. She couldn't figure out a way to respond to it without revealing more than she would like.

Elena: Yeah hey, sorry. It's like I'm in another world sometimes.

Elena looked at her message before hitting send. She hoped her response would placate Caroline's annoying curiosity. She deserved some privacies right? She was allowed to keep this to herself… She reasoned it out in her head. Rebekah would remain her little joy for now, and maybe once she figured out what to say to her friends, she would tell them.

Caroline: No biggie. What are you up to today after school?

Elena thought. She didn't actually have plans at all. She was sure Jenna was expecting her home for dinner, and she wasn't quite sure if Rebekah would have plans for them or what was going on. She had the perfect idea though…

Elena: I don't really know to be honest. Would you and Bonnie like to come over maybe tonight for dinner?

She sent the message and quickly pulled up her contacts and called Jenna. The phone ringed three times, and Elena was about to hang up wen Jenna's groggy voice answered.

"Hello?" Jenna asked impatiently, Elena could hear her exhaustion seeping through her vocal chords.

"Jenna its Elena. Uhm would it be cool if I have a few people over for dinner tonight?" Elena asked, her breath hitching in her chest waiting for an answer. She heard silence on the other end for a moment, and she waited expecting a cold "no" from Jenna.

"I suppose that would be okay. I'll make pasta." Jenna replied hastily, a yawn forming in the back of her throat. "Now please Elena, I'm going back to sleep, its my day off."

Elena quickly said her thank you and good-bye and hung up her phone. God she was excited- she was excited to finally come clean to her friends about her secret romance. She stopped dead in her tracks for a moment, as a realization hit her.

What if they didn't accept it? What if they didn't like her once she "came out"? The thought crippled her almost. Oh god. Could she risk it? Could she? She ripped her headphones out of her ears and shoved them deep into her pockets…

She had something special with Rebekah… What it was, she hadn't figured out quite yet, but she was determined to. And her determination swayed her mind. Whatever their reaction, it didn't matter. She would try for Rebekah; she would risk this for her.

She picked up her pace, and rounded the corner, spotting the school in the distance. She wasn't really in the mood for class at that exact second… She just wanted to see Rebekah, kiss her again… and again. She wanted that almost unbearable pressure in her stomach to return. She wanted Rebekah.

She pushed in through the front doors, walking quickly down the hallway. She thought of how normal being with Rebekah was, despite the fact that this was a strange and uncharted relationship for herself. She opened her locker and put her book bag in it, taking out her journal. She still had an hour before class started…

She opened to a fresh page, and wrote a quick entry, describing for her own memory the events of her date last night with Rebekah in detail. Writing it out, the description of the way her lips met Rebekah's, brought forth a new wave of arousal. She stopped for a moment, and looked down at her words. She had never had a simple memory do this to her before…

Something about Rebekah made her different from anyone else Elena had ever liked, save for the obvious- her genitals… Elena couldn't quite put her finger on it. This budding relationship gave her something she hadn't had for a long time… Security.

She thought back even further, to Sefan. Even in that relationship she remained hopelessly unsecure, never quite trusting him with her heart or soul. God- she knew it too. She felt mild guilt for making the poor vampire fall in love with her but what could she do? She couldn't control his emotions for him, she didn't know how.

But Rebekah was different, there was something deep within her that spoke to what Elena knew was her tortured soul. She wished that she could have fixed it herself, mended her heart to begin with. But something told her that Rebekah only fit with her because they both had a few broken edges; broken edges that for some reason managed to fit seamlessly side by side, one interlocking perfectly with the other.

She let her hand touch her lips again, the muscle memory reminding her of how Rebekah's lips had graced hers demandingly twelve hours ago. She craved more, she wanted more. She wanted more of that burning fire that Rebekah ignited within her. She wanted the fire to consume her, to leave her a pile of ashes in its wake, and for some reason this desire set her hand to writing.

"Rebekah,

Last night was amazing. I know I should have something else to say besides that- But I'm kind of at a loss for words, a good loss for words but still. Uhm… Still a loss. Can I see you tonight? Meet me outside when period four starts?

-E"

She scrawled it out quickly on a page in her immaculate journal, which she quickly ripped out. She read and re-read the note as she watched the school fill up with students getting ready for class. She folded the note nicely in her hand as she walked back towards her locker. She quickly swirled the sticky lock until it opened, and she opened her locker, pulling her books out of her locker.

She walked briskly passed her first class, and to Rebekah's locker, where she slipped into the cracks at the top of her locker; hoping that Rebekah would see it this morning when she arrived.

If- she arrived.
