I'm sorry I've been neglecting this story. I've had an intense year.

I will try to be back at it as much as I possibly can in the next few months.

Bear with me.

Elena's p.o.v.

Elena felt her phone vibrate in her pocket while she was sitting in her data management class. She reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone. Seeing Rebekah's name elected a small smile from her as she pressed down on the message icon.

Rebekah: Hey, sorry I'm not in class with you right now to respond to your note in person. It's really okay. I'm still feeling the effects of last night myself. I'll meet you at your locker alright?

Elena read the text and smiled again. What was it about her that made Elena go mad with embarrassment and arousal simultaneously? It was driving her nuts, absolutely bat-shit crazy trying to reason it out.

Elena: See you then.

She sent the text message, hoping that the direct response hid the excitement budding deep in her chest. Something deep down in the center of her being knew that she should be with Rebekah at this exact moment. It was like her body was calling out to Rebekah, wanting her to fulfill something for her.

She ran her hand through her brown tresses, trying to even out her breathing. Even Rebekah's name excited her. She had to calm down. She opened her notebook and began to doodle. She let her hand swirl over the page, creating some indistinguishable form.

The form became an abyss that she allowed herself to sink into. The monotonous sound of the teachers' voice filled her ears and lulled her clear mind into a trance; in which she took refuge from her wandering mind. The only thing that brought her out of her lovely dream was the sound of the bell ringing- signaling that her next class was due to begin.

She got up wordlessly, gathering her things, and she left the room.

She sat in her next class in the same spot that she always did. The new teacher blathered on about the same old thing, not really keeping her interest. Chemistry was really not her thing… But she made due. It was just a class to bide her time, to graduate in a year. She could feel her anticipation of summer growing. There were three months left until June finally reached her and she could be free.

Something about covalent bonds reached her ears but she couldn't be bothered to pay attention… She just wanted the school year to be over with, and this school day to be over with. She pulled out her phone, and pressed the message icon again. She pressed on her and Rebekah's conversation.

Something about the way things had developed between them made her giddy. She let her mind speak what it was feeling as her fingers ghosted over the keys faster than she was sure they had ever gone.

Elena: Any chance you want to ditch class and meet up earlier? There's something I want to talk to you about…

Elena sent the message whit a hopeful burst in her chest. She knew that Rebekah was probably busy, and that she shouldn't be expecting too much. Rebekah seemed a little bit rigid when it came to having any sort of schedule. So Elena wondered how keen she would be to abandon that schedule for any reason save an emergency. A small smile of delight spread across her cheeks as she felt the familiar buzz of her cellphone in her hand.

She looked down at Rebekah's message, and let her smile grow. She was so happy at this moment. She could feel her face flushing with embarrassment at the people who were probably staring at her usually stoic face. ..

Rebekah: I'll meet you in the lobby. Bring your stuff when class ends. I'll take you home.

Elena's heart exploded with happiness. She would get to see her so soon. It felt like chemistry class took a small infinity to finish. She stared directly ahead praying to God that Mr. Saltzman would shut his mouth and tell them they could go.

When the bell sounded Elena was out of the classroom faster than she had ever left anywhere ever. She booked it to her locker, grabbing her stuff and shoving her books deep into her book bag as she slammed her locker closed and locked her lock over it.

She shoved her way through the hall full of students commuting to their next classes or to lunch. She hated them all in this moment, as they impeded her imminent arrival to the lobby where she hoped Rebekah hadn't been waiting too long.

When she finally broke through the throng of teenage bodies and stood in the lobby she couldn't see Rebekah. She stood there for a moment wondering where she could be. Perhaps she had gone back to her locker, and Elena had missed her on the way…

But surely that couldn't be the case, because that would mean Elena had mistaken Rebekah for somebody else, or hadn't recognized her, which seemed impossible. There was no way that she hadn't recognized Rebekah… She was the most beautiful thing that she had ever seen.

She stood still for a moment, catching her breath. Only to have it taken a minute later as a beautiful Rebekah pushed open the doors. Elena could have sworn that her heart was literally stopped in her chest. Rebekah looked… hot. Sexy- no… Beyond it. She couldn't quite put it into words. Rebekah's hair was blowing slightly from the force of her ripping the door open. She was wearing some kind of leather jacket that clung to her body in the most delicious way, with sunglasses perched atop her head.

If it weren't for the fact that they were in school, Elena was sure that she would have taken Rebekah right there on the floor. She exuded such confidence it made Elena's brain fizz into nothingness, dumbfounding her.

"Hey you, ready to get out of here?" Rebekah asked, offering Elena a smile, and an arm to latch on to. Elena looked at Rebekah for a moment, took her arm, and allowed herself to be led out into the cool air.

She let her hand grip Rebekah's arm tightly as they walked down the front steps. Rebekah turned to her and let a small smile grace her face. Elena loved Rebekah's smile… It was so undeniably perfect. She was perfect.

Elena watched as Rebekah walked to the passenger side door and opened it for her, and then rounded the front of the car to get in herself. Elena sat in her seat, did up her seatbelt and closed her door while Rebekah did the same.

"Hey, thanks for coming. You didn't have to…" Elena began, and Rebekah silenced her by leaning over the center console and planting a tender but firm kiss on Elena's lips. The kiss ignited something inside of Elena, as her hands found the back of Rebekah's head as she pulled Rebekah's lips closer to her own.

Rebekah broke their kiss and let her chest heave as all of the oxygen left her body craving it. Elena thought of how intense that kiss had been… Even though it had only been for a few seconds, it had felt like so much longer.

"I've been waiting to do that for 24 hours… It felt like an eternity." Rebekah consolidated. Elena watched Rebekah's hand reach out, and envelope her own. The gesture brought her comfort as she interlocked their fingers together. A perfect fit.

"I haven't been able to think clearly for more than a minute since last night…" Elena offered, allowing part of her emotions to be mirrored. She was losing her resolve. Rebekah made her so nervous… so nervous but in the wonderful way.

"So..." Rebekah said, as her thumb traced a delightful pattern against the back of Elena's hand. "What do you need to talk about?" Elena felt her breath catch in her chest. This was happening. The second she said it out loud it became real. She knew… But she also wanted to be able to tell the truth… And she guessed she needed to know what the truth was before she could tell it.

"I want to know how much you want other people to know about this." Elena spoke gently, choosing her words as to not scare Rebekah away. "You see, because I really like you and all… And I think I want to be able to tell people that." She finished… Holding her breath. Waiting for the panic that she was sure she had just begun in Rebekah's mind. She closed her eyes, and waited for the 'No' that she was sure she would receive. She felt Rebekah remove her hand from her grasp.

"Elena," Rebekah's voice hit her ears. Her eyes were still closed, trying to hold back the tears. She had known better than to suggest it, she really had. She braced herself for it, and when Rebekah's hand softly caressed the side of her face.

The touch was so unexpected Elena actually felt her body involuntarily flinch as her eyes sprang open and she stared at Rebekah for a moment. Those blue eyes staring back at her seemed to translate some sort of message as she allowed her face to lean in to the hand that touched her so gently.

"If you want to tell people, it is hardly my aim to stop you." Rebekah finished. Elena couldn't help the wetness starting to form in the corners of her eyes… This was real. This was happening.

Elena's head lifted itself away from the nice warmth that Rebekah's hand offered her. She let her heart pound in her ears a moment while she processed this information, this, permission that she had received. It made her heart so happy…

"I suppose I have another question then…" Elena began shifting a bit in her seat unable to find the words that she was looking for… she looked out the front of the window silently. She watched the wind blow through the trees on the other side of the courtyard. She heard Rebekah clear her throat, and she turned her eyes back to face her.

'I have my own question if that's okay?" Rebekah asked. Elena sat dumbfounded for a moment, unsure of what was so important of a question that Rebekah could not simply have waited until she was finished. "I understand it is early on to be asking such a silly question. But I understand that it is for the best that I ask now…"

Elena listened, her heart beating significantly faster than she anticipated it ever could. She physically felt her ears burning as the blood vessels attempted to accommodate all of the blood rushing into them.

"Do you want to be my girlfriend? I mean of course, only if that is something that you would like…" Rebekah finished. Elena watched Rebekah watch her face for any reaction, but Elena offered none. She was confused, had she just been asked out by Rebekah?

"What did you just say, I'm sorry?" Elena asked, she couldn't be sure if what she had heard was reality or a dream so she needed to hear it again. Elena watched as Rebekah's hands became twitchy and nervous.

"Would you be my girlfriend?" Rebekah said, letting her eyes fall from Elena's for a moment before finding them again. Elena just looked at her for a moment, her mouth falling agape. She sat rigidly still, her heart beating out of control.

Her brain screamed 'yes' a hundred times but she couldn't seem to form the connection between her words and her mouth. She urged her body to react; and it did. She sprang up in her seat faster than she ever had, turned her body to completely face Rebekah. She let her hands find the sides of her face and she connected their lips with such force that she feared that she may have chipped her tooth.

She felt Rebekah's shocked stillness for a moment, before she felt Rebekah's body respond. Elena felt Rebekah's hands in her hair, pulling her impossibly closer. Elena's legs moved of their own accord over the center console as she tried to get closer to Rebekah.

She sat astride her lap, never disconnecting their lips. She didn't want it to stop; she never wanted this moment to end. But then it did when Rebekah's mouth pulled away from her own. She heard herself whimper at the loss of pressure but understood.

"Do I take that as a yes?" Rebekah's breathless voice offered. Elena pushed her hair out of her eyes, and stared for a moment at the most beautiful woman whose lap she sat astride. She couldn't deny it, nor could anyone else… There was something here, between them- and she didn't intend to let it slip out of her fingers.

"Yes. Rebekah- yes." She said, pressing their lips together again. This kiss was far more chaste and lasted only a moment, before a laugh escaped Elena's mouth. She laughed and laughed; her body heaving against Rebekah's.

"What, pray tell is so funny?" Rebekah's delicious voice graced her ears once more. Elena started to dismount from her perch on Rebekah's lap… Her laugher continued.

"I was just thinking that I have never once in my life found myself making out with someone in their car, stereotypically in the school parking lot. I just found it so ironic that it was happening much less stereotypically, with a beautiful girl like you." Elena said. Sitting down and re-buckling her seatbelt.

"I suppose that is rather funny." Rebekah conceded. Allowing a faint smile to grace her lips. She watched Elena carefully out of the corner of her eye… "Just so you know, I'm very… Possessive- shall we say." Rebekah offered as an explanation. Elena took it.

"I understand." Elena responded. Completely accepting Rebekah for herself, whatever that may be. "Will you take me home?" Elena asked, her hair completely disheveled, she didn't care about it really, but she knew she would have some explaining to do to Jenna when she got home.

"Yes of course." Rebekah said, turning the key in the ignition and reversing out of the parking lot. Elena felt her hand being held, and she looked down to see Rebekah's fingers laced together with her own. She enjoyed it. The simple connection between them.

They rounded to the street where Elena's house was. And Elena's heart jumped for a moment, as her brain got to working.

"Rebekah…" Elena began getting the blondes attention. She wasn't sure if this was too soon or too late; but she decided that she could only miss out on the opportunity if she refused to take it. "Would you like to meet Jenna?"

Elena watched Rebekah's face flash with confusion for a moment, and then apprehension as what she was offering was understood.

"Yes. Of course I would." Rebekah's response made Elena's heart dance in her chest, squirming as if it were a little fish out of water. Her insides rejoiced as Rebekah allowed this major step to occur.

The car pulled to a halt out front of her house, and she got out immediately, grabbing her backpack and waited for Rebekah to round the car. Elena reached out her hand, and waited for Rebekah to grasp it. When she finally did, Elena practically drug her up the stairs where short hours ago they had shared a passionate- beautiful moment.

Elena set her bag on the porch and fumbled for her keys, and finally put the appropriate one into the lock and turned it. She heard it give way, as she pushed the door open.

"Jenna- I'm home," Elena screamed into her house as she reached down to grab her heavy backpack with both hands as she stepped awkwardly into the house. She felt her center of balance shift as she attempted to maintain her footing. "I have someone I would really like you to meet so; please have clothes on…" Elena huffed, having become extremely used to Jenna's appreciation for her own nudity.

She turned to see where Rebekah had gone, seeing her standing on the front porch. Elena watched uneasily as Rebekah stood there waiting to be invited in. Something about the way she teetered on edge of stepping in he door but didn't triggered a memory of Stephan.

It was the first time she had brought Stephan home. To her home. She had wanted to come have sex in her own bed while Jenna was out. She should have felt bad, but her hornier, less inebriated self didn't care. She walked into the house and turned to watch as Stephan stood on the stoop, but stood like a pillar; which seemed odd to her.

"Stephan what on earth are you doing?" She had asked, seriously growing tired of the game he was playing whatever that might have been. There was no time for his chivalry; she wanted to have sex with him.

"Elena, I can't go into a house of the living unless I am invited… So are you going to invite me in?" He had asked cocking his head. She looked at him dumbfounded again.

"Is this another one of your vampire things?" She asked incredulously. She watched as Stephan offered her a sweet smile and a small chuckle as he nodded his head. She had half a mind to leave him out there…

"You know unless you want to have sex on the porch you're going to have to let me in." He conceded. And she realized that he was right.

"Well in that case, by all means, Stephan won't you please come in?" Elena said turning and walking up the stairs.

Elena felt the unease grow inside of her stomach, no. This could not be… This could not happen again. The bag that was in her hands fell to the floor as she stepped back out of her house, shutting the door forcefully behind her.

"When were you going to tell me Rebekah?" Elena asked, her eyes narrowing at this woman whose lips has only minutes before claimed her own. God she should have known. It was just like her to let something so simple as attraction blind her… She felt her heart sink in her chest. God- this was probably Stephan's doing… Some kind of ruse to get back at her for breaking things off with him.

Rebekah started to speak, a question forming in the back of her throat, but Elena cut her off. She didn't want to hear it.

"When were you going to tell me you're a vampire?" Elena said pointing a finger at Rebekah. "When? After you'd fucked me and had a good laugh with Stephan about it?" Elena ventured closer letting her finger poke Rebekah right in the chest… She was so angry. She couldn't contain it, she felt that love and desire burn into a thick fire of rage that smoldered her insides before being released out of her mouth in form of a flame meant to burn everything alive.

"Elena please…" Rebekah tried to reason with her, but She couldn't hear reason- she could only feel betrayal. She could barely contain the rage she felt burning her from the inside out. Her hand turned into a fist as she beat it against Rebekah's chest, trying to make her feel the pain she felt.

"Elena calm down." Rebekah grabbed her hands and pulled Elena flush against her chest. Elena's brain snapped as she felt the comfort of Rebekah's arms wrapped around her. Her rage turned into sadness- and the tears were not so easily contained.

"How could you do this to me? How could you play with my feelings?" Elena sobbed. God she hated Rebekah, she hated Stephan, she hated vampires and people. She hated everyone and everything at this moment…

"Elena…" the voice consoled her. She wanted to be angry. She wanted to shout at her- but something told her to give her a chance at explaining herself. She pulled her hands out or Rebekah's grasp and backed out of her reach.

"I want an explanation- and I want it now. Why me? Did Stephan put you up to this?" Elena asked questioningly. She needed to know the truth; Rebekah would no doubt give her that right?

"Elena… I didn't choose you. I didn't intend to feel anything for you… But you think I was sent to hurt you… On purpose; By Stephan. Who even is Stephan, and why would I care about him?" Rebekah tried to explain. Elena could tell she was being sincere, something about the way Rebekah's voice was pleading for an explanation of her own…

"I usually don't have a habit of telling humans what I am. But I would have told you in due time. When I could trust you with the information- that I could show you that I'm not a monster, not anymore." Rebekah said, and Elena watched as the blonde ran a shaking hand through her hair. "I just thought this was special enough that it warranted a real attempt… not me sabotaging it by telling you too much too fast."

Elena let her breath hold for a moment… She needed to process this all. There was an undeniable understandability that came with Rebekah's explanation and she couldn't quite overlook it.

"I guess I see it from your point of view… If you want to stay in my good books, we will be discussing this more in depth… Clearly there are things that neither of us knows about the other, and that needs to be fixed if we want this to work." Elena said gesturing between the two of them. Something about the situation still didn't feel right to her- hell in this moment nothing but the feeling of being close to Rebekah felt right to her.

Elena opened the door again and stepped through it, she looked over her shoulder as a dejected Rebekah turned and almost made her way down the steps. Elena had half a mind to let her go… Part of her desperately wanted to be alone with her thoughts. But the other part couldn't blame Rebekah for what she had done…

"Rebekah…" Elena called after her, and she watched as Rebekah stopped halfway down the front steps and turned. "Won't you please come in?"
