Chapter 70

Forgive me for the delay with this chapter. My computer died on me and I had to get a new one. It took a few days for it to come in but ta-da! It's here and I'm going to continue posting on a regular basis. I hope that you all enjoy this chapter.

Most of the characters belong to Charlaine Harris but the story idea belongs to me.

For the last hour or so, Eric talked on the phone. His lips were barely moving but Sookie was sure that whomever he was speaking to, heard every single word that he had to say. Since the attempt on her life, he had been on the phone almost nonstop. He'd even called the council members. He called the AP and left her a message about what had transpired. Unlike Shiloh and Godric, she didn't answer the phone. She didn't have to. She more than likely knew it was going to happen anyway.

Godric on the other hand answered on the first ring. He was probably under the assumption that it was Sookie but hid his disappointment very well when he learned that it was the Viking. After he'd been made aware of what happened, he was up in arms about it. He was ready to kill whoever had put the hit out on Sookie's life.

"Once you find out who has done this, Eric, make sure they suffer the worst possible death. I will gladly help you in your pursuit. Please tell your wife that I am sorry for what she has had to go through. Once I take my rightful place on the council, I will make sure that new laws are put into place," he said.

Eric thanked him for his support but ignored the comment about Godric taking André's seat on the council. There was no point in angering an ally.

Shiloh had the same reaction … sort of. She found it amusing as well as shocking. She couldn't believe that anyone would be so bold as to make an attempt on the faery princess's life. She found it amusing that someone would do something that would definitely end life as they know it. Eric has never been one to take threats lightly. She could only imagine what was going to happen since Sookie was the one that was threatened.

"Eric, darling, do what you have to do," Shiloh purred. "You know what this means. You have the right to seek revenge against your enemy. They're fair game. Do with them as you wish but promise me that you'll give me all of the juicy details when it's over," she said as sinister giggles filled the other air.

Sookie hated that the attempt on her life was occupying Eric's every thought. It bothered her. She knew that things were going to be a lot more secure around her. She knew that she was never going to be allowed to go out on her own again; especially without him. He didn't care if she had guards with her at all times. He didn't care if they had the deadliest weapons. He was going to do whatever he had to do to keep her safe and that meant that she was going to have to always be with him. She couldn't let this control his very being. She isn't his only responsibility.

She needed to distract him and she knew just how to do it. She turned her back to him and removed her bikini top. She dropped it on the floor but still kept her back to him. She glanced at him over her shoulder as she began to shimmy out of her bikini bottoms. She smiled when he sat tall in his seat.

"I'm going to shower," she said as she began walking away.

Eric shifted in his seat as he watched her. "I'll be right here when you return, my lover."

Coyly, she asked, "You don't want to join me?" She shrugged her shoulders and smacked her ass at him. "Your loss, baby," she purred.

Before she could make it into the bathroom, Eric hung up on whomever he was speaking with and threw the phone onto the bed. He followed her to the bathroom. Within seconds, Eric had stripped down to nothing. He'd leaned into the oversized shower and had the multiple shower heads going full blast.

"Ready?" he asked as he stepped in.

She smiled as she offered him her hand to help her inside. "Are you going to be a bad boy?" she asked.

"Only if you want me to," he answered with the sneakiest of smiles.

"Oh, I want you to," she said.

As the water beat down on them, Eric turned Sookie's back to him and began washing it, massaging it as softly and as sensuously as possible. His strong hands massaged her shoulders as they moved down to her ass. She moaned as she arched her back into his body as his fingers went nestled perfectly in between her thighs.

Sookie turned to face him. It pleased her to hear him gasp at the feel of her breasts as they rested against his chest. She reached for the body sponge and the gel that were sitting in the shower caddy.

"My turn," she whispered.

She lathered up the sponge and began washing the most fabulous chest she'd ever seen. She let her hands drift down over his muscular stomach before moving down a little further to the most amazing hardness she'd known. She leaned in and kissed his lips ever so lightly as she dropped the sponge and began to stoke him with her hand.

"Sookie," Eric said quietly.

As she looked into his eyes, the lust that filled the bond had completely filled the shower. She then licked his lips as she stared into his eyes. Tears began to well in them.

Eric positioned them underneath the shower to rinse the soap from their bodies. As the water poured over them, he stared down at her. Once they were soap free, he lifted Sookie by her waist and rested her body against the wall of the shower. She instantly had her legs wrapped around his waist. He had her positioned over his hardness. Slowly, he lowered her onto it.

Once he was fully inside of her, the lovers didn't move. Sookie gazed into his eyes and everything she's ever wanted to see was there. Tears began to fall from her eyes in a steady stream.

Eric rested his forehead against hers and closed his eyes. "I almost lost you today," he whispered.

"I know," she whimpered. She wrapped her arms tightly around his neck as she kissed his cheek.

When she leaned back to look at him, Sookie gasped at what was before her. Bloody tears were falling from her dearest love's eyes. His normally emotionless face was filled with emotion. His heartbreak was there for all to see.

"Oh, baby," she said as she kissed the tears away.

"I'd die without you, Sookie," he whispered in her hair. He broke her hug and peered into her eyes. "I couldn't live without you."

"I'm here, Eric. I won't leave you." Placing her hand to his chest, she said, "I'm always here. We're one. We'll always be together. This time is ours. No one is going to end us."

As if on cue, Eric began to move inside of her. Sookie looked into his eyes and smiled. With that smile, the rotation of her hips began. The moans began to build in her chest.

As the water washed their tears away, Eric started making love to her at a slow and easy pace. The frustrated groan that she gave him made him change his mode. He snarled and gave her what she wanted. He began to fuck her hard and fast. The sounds of their wet skin smacking against each other filled the shower.

Sookie's hold tightened around his neck she held on to meet his every thrust. She threaded her fingers through his hair as she moaned into his neck. She cried out as she was about to reach her peak. She began to quiver in eager anticipation. She began to clinch around his thick hardness as he groaned.

Eric's eyes were closed and he was fighting to keep control just as he's always done when it comes to Sookie but he couldn't keep it any longer. When he felt her throbbing and tightening around him, he brushed her hair to the side and bit into her neck.

As her blood flooded his mouth, Sookie let go and let her orgasm take her away. Her body convulsed as desire filled her. Eric lifted her higher and spread her legs wider as he fed from her and claimed her. She could feel it as his warmth filled her.

In a raspy voice, he said her name over and over again. "Sookie," he whispered. "Sookie, my lover, my only lover."

Once their ecstasy had subsided, Eric had the lovers in their bed and securely wrapped in their blankets. They didn't speak. They didn't utter a single word. They continued to stare into each other's eyes. The thought of them not being together was a pain that neither of them expected to ever have to know … until tonight.

Finally breaking the silence, Sookie said, "We have get ready."

Eric shook his head no. "We can wait until tomorrow night. It's no hurry. I've already spoken to André and given him an update. I've given him enough information to keep him satisfied. We don't have to do this tonight."

She frowned. "Yes we do. We have to do this tonight. We can't let this stop us from doing what we are obligated to do. That's what they want. They want to knock us on our asses. They want us stunned. They don't want us to succeed. We can't give them the satisfaction. We have to have that meeting tonight." She sighed and said, "You know that just as well as I do. We can't falter."

He wrapped his arms protectively around her. "They can wait and if they can't wait, we can get Sal to conduct the meeting. He's more than capable. He has already said that he will stand with us. He has more than proven that."

"No," she protested. "It's not his job. It's ours."

"André will never find out. Those in our retinue would never betray us. André would never be the wiser." He spoke with finality but he could tell from the look on his wife's face that it was far from over.

"We can't do that," she said. "You can't keep me locked away in this room. You have to proceed as you always have; with will and determination. No matter what happens, we have to do this. You know that I'm right."

He said nothing.

"Okay?" she asked.

"Okay," he replied as he brushed the hair from her face.

Looking into his eyes, Sookie asked, "Do you think that we'll find the missing girls alive?"

His blue eyes went icy. "I don't. They've been gone for far too long and they're part human. They wouldn't be able to survive the captivity. It's been too long." He's opened his mouth to say more but stopped himself.

"Say it," she whispered.

He pulled her closer into his body. "Maybe it'll be better if we don't find them. Maybe it'll be better if they stay gone."

He didn't want to feel that way but if he had to lose Sookie because a vampire had taken the girls for selfish reasons, he'd rather the girls never be found. He didn't want to lose his family.

Family

The word echoed through his mind. They were soon followed by the sensibilities of his wife. He knew that he was wrong in feeling the way that he does. Those girls didn't deserve the horrors that they may have had to go through. Their families have every right to know what has happened to their daughters. They should be found; dead or alive and they should be returned to their families.

The knowledge that he is going to be a father echoed in his heart. He'd want his daughter found; dead or alive. He'd want closure just as those families deserve closure. They should be remembered as more than 'the missing girls'. They should be remembered as daughters and friends.

Sookie leaned in and kissed him. His thoughts pleased her. "I love you."

"I think that André is behind the attempt on your life," Eric blurted out. "If I discover that to be true, I will kill him."

"You believe that he was involved too," she said softly.

"I do."

Sitting up on her elbows, Sookie said, "That's why we have to keep going as if nothing has happened. We can't change what we do because if he is behind this, he will know that he's gotten to us. You can't keep me tucked away."

He shook his head as he chuckled. "You are always thinking logically, aren't you?"

"Always," she said as she winked at him.

Then out of the blue, he slapped her naked bottom.

She reached behind her and rubbed her butt cheek. "Thanks," she said sarcastically.

"Anytime," he said. He then winked at her. "What do you want for dinner? Whatever you want, we can have it delivered. You haven't had that spinach and tomato pizza that you love so much in quite some time. Would you like ...?"

Sookie placed her hands on his chest and frowned as she looked at him. "What do you mean delivered? I don't want anything to be delivered. We'd planned on going out to dinner and we're still going out to dinner."

"We have to be here when the others arrive. We can't go out to dinner …," he began.

She knew what he was doing and she wasn't going to let him get away with it. She was going to have to play hardball with him. She gave him the sad-eyed puppy dog look. "Please," she begged.

"I'm not risking your life, Sookie."

She leaned in and kissed his nose. "I love going out to dinner with you." She kissed his left cheek. "I love our dinner conversations." She kissed his right cheek. "I'd love to have some saffron rice with grilled salmon." She kissed his forehead. "And whipped cream with poached pears," she said. This time she kissed his lips.

"You don't play fair, lover."

She then reached down between them and began stroking him.

With his eyes fluttering ever so lightly, he said, "You really don't play fair."

"So we're going out dinner?" she asked as she kissed her way down his chest.

"If you want to," he answered. Though he didn't have to, his breathing was more than erratic.

"We'll leave in a few minutes," she said as she crawled under the covers. "I want to have my appetizer at home."

"You really don't play fair," Eric moaned just as she took him into her mouth.
