Selene's Back story
I hadn't planned on posting this yet but I'm sitting here in the airport waiting. I decided that no harm would be caused if I edited this chapter and posted it. Right? It will be something nice for me to do while I have wait for an extra two hours for my freaking flight to prepare for takeoff. Never mind the fact that I'm starving and I hate airport food. I'll edit this chapter. Hopefully, it'll take my mind off of my severe hunger pangs. My stomach will alleviate some of the pressure on my freaking spine.
I shall return next week. Have a great one!
Anyway, I hope that y'all enjoy it and let me know what you think.
As she watched him from the trees, she thought of the night her life changed for the better.
She's always been partial to her master. He's always been fair and he's always taken care of his own. She'd never been under the rule of another vampire that considers his underlings. Other leaders see them as peons … something to use when the time comes but not Eric. She'd watched him with his child, Pam, and Selene envied her. Not that her master was evil and sadistic. He was the complete opposite. He never mistreated her. He loved her dearly. He never did anything to cause her harm. Giovanni Aldao was an amazing maker.
He taught her the proper ways to hunt and to feed. He taught her that being a vampire is the greatest gift that can bestowed upon a human. He taught her that her life was going to improve dramatically and that she would never know pain and grief again. He said that she would see and do things that would change her forever.
And he was right.
The night that he'd found her, she was walking along the banks of the Tanaro river. Her father used to take her and her brothers there to fish. She'd gone there to mourn. Her father had died that evening. He was all that Selene had left. Her mother had died the previous winter from fever. Her brothers, Andres and Leon had died during battle. By noon that day, she was the last of her family.
She'd cried all of the day away. She'd begged Father to stay with her; to not leave her alone. She'd begged for him to let her go into town and get Dr. Grayson but he wouldn't allow it. He said that there was no need. She believed that there was no need for her to stay in this world without him so she'd begged Father to take her with him.
He placed his warm and clammy hand to her face. "My sweet Selene," he said. "It is time for me to go. It was not meant for me to live past this day but you, my dear child, you will live on forever."
Selene held his hand to her face and cried. "Please, Father, you can't leave me. You are all that I have left in this world, in this life. For I fear that if you leave me this day, I will soon follow," she predicted.
Father struggled to sit up and he took his hand away from her. Once he was sitting tall and his back was resting against the pillows, he looked deep into her eyes; anger filled them. "I forbid such nonsense to ever pass from your mouth again. You are of my blood. You are strong and you will not leave this world behind. You have too much to offer. You have so much awaiting you. I have always believed you to be strong, Selene," he said. "Don't make me out to be a liar."
His breathing became harsh and shallow as he slid back down onto bed; with his head now resting on his pillow. He was trying to keep up in a race that he had no chance of winning. Selene dropped her head and cried.
"Now, go child," he said as he turned towards her. "I need a glass of water."
She was hesitant to leave him but the look in his eyes told her to go. She could see that there was no room for arguing. "I love you, Father," she said as she stood up.
"And I love you, my sweet Selene."
She cried as she turned away from him. She could feel him die just as she reached the door of the bedroom. Selene walked to the kitchen and fixed Father's water as he told her to. She walked slowly to the room. When she entered, she placed the glass on the side table. She took Father's hand in her own and she held it. She remembered the many times he carried her through town on his shoulders. He would brag to their neighbors that he had the most beautiful daughter in all of Italy … in the entire world. Then she would say that Father was the strongest and most handsome to ever have lived in Italy … in the entire world.
Those days were over.
Selene walked along the river and a pain hit heart. She'd stopped under the tree that was carved with the names of her family. The tree lives and her family was dead. Selene walked to the edge of the cliff and stared down the water. She was going to turn Father into a liar.
Selene inched to the edge of the cliff and before she could jump, the seductive voice stopped her. "Your sorrow saddens, me beautiful one," he said. He closed his eyes and inhaled the night air. "Your heart is broken. Tell me, what's caused you such pain?"
She turned to look at her visitor as tears rolled down her cheek. "I am about the disappoint Father."
He inched closer to her. "I find that hard to believe," he said.
"I must die tonight," she said. "I am all that is left of my name. Death has called my family home and I have been left behind. There is no cause for me to stay here." She turned to look out at the inviting water. She closed her eyes and imagined diving into the water. She imagined the feel of the water as it covered her completely … filling her lungs until they were about to burst. She opened her eyes and said, "There's nothing left me in this world."
Giovanni began to laugh. "Silly girl," he said. "There is much for you in this world. There's more than this small pond or the tiny village. The world is waiting for you. You, my dear child, can live forever," he said.
"That's what Father said," she whispered.
"He was right," Giovanni answered. "You have to accept it. You have to want it." His body moved in closer to hers. She could feel the coolness of the night as blew between them. "Do you want it?"
She turned around to face him. She didn't notice until that very second that he had the most startling green eyes she'd ever seen. His wavy black hair blew silently in the cool December breeze. And he was handsome. He was so very handsome. She reached up and touched his face. Her hands didn't flinch from the coolness of his skin. "You can give me what I seek," she said.
"Death," he whispered. "Will you come with me? Will you walk with me in this world? Will you stand by me? You'll never have to be lonely again … neither will I."
Without hesitation, she took his hand. "Forever?" she asked.
"Forever," he promised. He stroked her cheek and said, "I will give you the world."
And he was right.
He gave her everything. Soon after he turned her, he took her as his lover; his only lover but not without her permission. She willingly gave it. They fed from humans together. They shared the same coffin, the same chamber. They shared their lives, their secrets. They weren't like the others of their kind. It was unheard for a vampire and his child to spend all of eternity together. Many vampires told them that it was a mistake for them to live as such. Many said that he was crippling her. He wasn't preparing her for the world by keeping her with him all of the time.
And he agreed. He tried to release her but she wouldn't go. She'd found the true love her of life. She'd told him that she wasn't going to let him release her. She said that if he abandoned her, she would meet the true death. She reminded him of his promise many, many years ago. And without argument, he kept her … willingly. From that night on, they continued to walk the world together.
He took her to different countries … countries that are no longer known in to the world today. He gave her jewels and he lavished her with expensive clothes but she wanted none of that. She wanted him. She wanted his companionship and for almost 600 years, she never left his side. He never left hers … until that fateful night.
She was splayed out on the bed; naked and sated. Her black hair was spread out around her. He looked at her beautiful body appreciatively and smiled an amorous smile. "I shall have you at least five more times tonight after we've had our dinner, beautiful one."
She bit seductively into her bottom lip and smiled. "I am yours to do with as you please," she said. "Kiss me before you go."
He did as she ordered. He's never denied her. He kissed her deeply, passionately. "I won't be long."
"I'll be waiting."
And she waited. She'd closed her eyes and basked in the glory that was Giovanni. He was gone for no more than 15 minutes and she felt it. A searing pain had ripped through her. She sat up quickly in the bed as her eyes widened and the most terrifying scream she'd ever made, filled the silence of their home.
The naked vampire went to her lover's side. She'd found him in a dark alley. The pile of blood and gore that lay on the cement was now the last of the man that she'd loved so dearly, so completely.
"My Giovanni," she cried. "This is not the end. We are to have forever."
Nothing
She bit into her wrist and let the blood drip onto his remains though she knew that it was futile. Her bloody tears streamed over her cheeks. She lay down by the pile that used to Giovanni and cried. "I shall meet the sun tomorrow."
"Or either you can have vengeance," the blond vampire said from behind her.
She jumped up from her fetal position and crouched down in the fighting position. With her fangs down and her hands clawed, she said, "Stay back or I will fucking end you." She hissed at him as she was prepared to fight.
Erik sauntered over to her and leaned against the brick wall. "You'll do no such thing," he said. "I am your elder and I can kill you without getting a drop of your blood on me. Stand down, girl. I'm not here to hurt you. I want to help you."
Selene stood slowly and looked at her elder. She could see the age in his eyes. She could smell it on his skin. "Forgive my insolence, master," she said as she bowed. "I am Selene Aldao. Giovanni was my maker and my lover." She looked down at what used to be him. "We were together for over 600 years." She looked up at Eric and said, "I know no other but you can have me if you wish."
Erik's eyes travelled over her body. She was quite appealing but he shook his head as he removed his coat. He draped it over Selene's shoulders and buttoned it closed. He looked down at her as he gripped her arms. "I knew your maker. He was an honorable vampire. I'm sorry that I did not get here in time to save him." He looked down the pile of blood and said, "I would have fought at his side."
With his hands still on her arms, he said, "I don't want you, Selene Aldao. I don't take what is not mine. You belong to another; be it dead or alive. You are his and his you will remain until you are of the right mind to decide otherwise."
Right then, Selene knew that she would've followed him anywhere.
"I am Eric," he said. "And I am here to give you vengeance."
As soon as he said that, another male vampire appeared from behind him and he had two vampires dangling from his hands. They were kicking and screaming. They were begging to be released.
"Quiet yourselves," the dark vampire spat into their ears. "You will be free of your pain in time." He looked at Selene and said, "I am Sal. I, too, knew your maker and he didn't deserve to die in such a manner. He was a fighter. His death was to be honorable. He was never to die at the hands of cowards."
The vampires continued to scream. Erik took it upon himself to quiet them down. He punched them so hard that he'd broken their jaws. "Make another sound and I shall rip your tongues from your mouths," he replied calmly.
They stopped fighting and didn't make another sound.
Selene smiled.
"Come with us, Selene," Erik said as he offered her his hand. "You won't have to be alone and you won't have to meet the sun. Not this morning," he assured her. "Whatever you decide, do it after you have had your revenge," he said with a wink.
She looked at his hand and then at Sal. She looked at the two vampires and at her former lover. She took Erik's hand and said, "I've never had to fight before tonight. I've never had cause to seek revenge. I am but a child at this."
Erik and Sal laughed. "Well tonight, we will teach you."
Before they left the alley, Selene said, "I can't leave him here. Not like this."
"No worries," Erik said. "Freyda," he called out over his shoulder.
"Yes, master," she said.
The red haired vampire was but a baby herself. She had the eyes of a vampire that was no more than 100 years old. She had the same look on her face that Selene remembered being on hers the night she'd risen from the grave. It was beautiful.
"Clean up our friend from this ground and prepare him for burial."
She bowed to him and did as he ordered.
"Thank you," Selene whispered.
That was over 160 years ago. She's been with Eric every since that night. He kept his promise and gave her vengeance. He gave her the will to fight. He taught her to fight. He taught her to live again and no matter what it was that she had to do, she was going to do the same for him. She was going to give him his vengeance.
Pam has always been a very smart vampire. She was extremely willful and disobedient at times but she was an amazing vampire. She made her maker proud. Before she went to glamor Detective Beck, she gave Selene orders to follow Sookie and Eric to Felicia's apartment.
"I don't trust this at all," Pam said to Selene. "Why would André offer a human his protection? He despises them. He's never had use for a human. He's known to feed from them and send them on their way and now he wants to protect one?" She shook her head. "I don't like it."
"Maybe she's done something for him," Selene suggested. "She could be his lover."
Pam shook her head no. "I don't buy it. My master and his wife could be walking into a trap. I want for you to go the apartment and watch them," Pam ordered. "As soon as they go inside, you take a hiding place and watch that building. Don't take your eyes off of that building."
"I won't," she said. "What else do you want me to do?"
"What is necessary," Pam said.
The corner of Selene's mouth twitched. "If that is true, I am in your debt."
"It is true," Pam replied. "We are assigned to keep Eric and Sookie safe. That is what we will do. I heard that you are feeling a little rusty. You haven't had a chance to kill in quite some time from my understanding."
She blurred in front of Pam. A full on smile was covering her face now. "Don't play with me, Pam. Don't let the blood lust claim me and you are toying with my affections. We've had this problem in the past. Eric's not here to break up this fight."
Pam let her finger trace over Selene's check. "If you see any of our enemies, do with him as you wish."
Selene grabbed the back of Pam's head and pulled her in for kiss. She claimed the young vampire's mouth and kissed her passionately. When she'd broken the kiss, she looked at Pam's closed eyes and said, "You will be rewarded later for you have just given me."
Opening her eyes and licking her lips, Pam said, "I can't wait."
That was over two hours ago. She sat in the top of the trees and waited. No vampires had appeared at Felicia's home. No one was standing outside watching them. There was nothing. Selene was almost beyond angry until she saw him.
Bill Compton
Bill Fucking Compton
He'd appeared from behind the building. She noticed the scorn on his face when he saw Eric's car. It wasn't hard to see that he wasn't pleased. Then she saw him sniff the air. His fangs dropped. He could smell Sookie. Before coming from behind the building, he checked out his surroundings. Once he deemed it safe, he blurred to Viking's car. He tried to open the passenger's side door but it was locked. He didn't bother to try the driver's side. He figured that would be locked to. What he did next was astounding.
He licked the handle of the passenger side door.
Selene leaned forward and watched him; a frown on her face.
"Sookeh," he whispered as the taste of her hand lingered on his tongue.
"Sick fuck," Selene whispered.
It angered her that Sookie's scent could be smelled for miles. Since she has been with child, it is almost impossible to hide. It made it easy for assholes like Bill Fucking Compton to track her. If only she'd left her guards where with her.
She suddenly smiled. She thought better against it. Selene was happy that Sookie had made the fae guards continue their patrol of the compound grounds. They would've killed Bill and she would be rusty.
Bill suddenly looked over his shoulder and blurred away into the night. Selene looked to see Eric and Sookie walking out of Felicia's apartment. Sookie looked pissed. As matter of fact, she looked beyond pissed. But her master, Selene's master, looked as calm as ever. She watched them as they walked silently to the car.
Eric gave Selene a quick glance. He smiled as he saw her sitting in the tree.
She gave him a quick nod as she faded back into the leaves.
Seconds later, her master's wife was staking claim to him. It was a beautiful sight. It was breathtaking to see the faery take her place in the vampire world. It was gratifying and beyond joyous. It was beautiful to see her bite into her husband's flesh and take what is rightfully hers. The faery had more than earned her place amongst the vampires.
And there he was once again.
Selene was disgusted at what she was witnessing.
Bill Fucking Compton was sullying her master and mistress' union. He was making a mockery of a very sacred ritual. How dare he pleasure himself while witnessing their love?
The vampiress flew from her hiding spot just as he closed his eyes when he'd met his release. Selene blurred to her car and put on her black leather gloves. She grabbed the silver netting from the trunk of the SUV and made her way to where Bill Compton was standing. She'd made it back in just in time. She hated the look in his eyes as he looked up at Felicia's apartment. She could see that he isn't like Eric. He'll take anything that wasn't his. If he wants it, then he has the right to take it … Sookie, Felicia. Anything that he wanted, he felt that he has the right to it.
Selene smiled. She ran up on Bill and threw the silver netting over him. With a speed quicker than what the young vampire could see, she had the ends of the silver netting tied together and had Bill in her silver clutches.
"Let me go," he hissed.
Calmly, she said, "No. If you'll stop fighting, it won't burn as much."
"My master will have your head for this," Bill growled.
"No, he won't," she said assuredly. "You are blemish to our very existence, Bill Fucking Compton. I believe that it is time to rid the world of you and all that you represent."
Bill finally stopped fighting. He looked at Selene and smiled. "I will get out of this and I will kill you."
"No, you won't." Selene picked up the tied ends of the Bill's silvered prison and dragged him through the woods to her car. He screamed as the pieces of silver burned into his flesh. She took her cell phone of out of her pocket and called Pam.
"Don't tell me that you're done," Pam purred into the phone.
"I am not," she said. "I may have to postpone our little date … unless you want to join me. I have Bill."
The end of the phone went silent.
"Pam?" Selene called. "Are you there?"
"Don't play with me," Pam warned. "I will have to punish you sexually if you do."
Selene shivered with anticipation. "Meet me at the safe house," she said. "I'll be waiting for you." She ended her call and put her phone in her pocket. She retrieved her keys and popped open the trunk. There were three more sheets of silver netting splayed over the bed of the trunk. She placed Bill on top of it as she wrapped more silver netting around him.
He screamed out in pain as she pulled it as tight as it would go.
"Oh," she said. "Is that too tight? Here, let me loosen it," she said. She took two pairs of silver handcuffs from her bag of toys and put them around his wrists and his ankles.
He screamed out again.
"Better?" she asked as she slammed the trunk closed.
She got into the front seat of the car and threw her leather gloves in the dashboard. She whistled as she drove to the safe house.
Her song of choice?
Whistle While You Work
This was going to be a great night.
It didn't work. I'm still hungry!
