Chapter 26
Later that night Kol was in the kitchen when Rebekah came in for a snack.
"Hey Sis," Kol grinned at her. "Can I get you something?"
"I want some ice cream"
"Coming right up," Kol said.
"How is Stefan doing?"
"Better thanks to Ayana"
"Why on earth would someone do something like this and why would Klaus think it was you. I mean hypothetically if it was you what would you possibly gain by hurting Elena? You adore Elijah and would never do anything to hurt him."
"You're right," she said sweetly. "I do adore my big brother." She pretended to think for a moment. "If I were to have done this-hypothetically speaking-it would be because she can't be a member of this family as she is impure and too bleh. If he were to be with someone else-hell, I'll even say Katerina-then I wouldn't be so worried about how bad his love life is." She shook her head. "I've always hated Elena and I really am sorry someone hurt her like that." She faked sadness and sympathy, hoping that Kol couldn't see right through her.
He handed her the ice cream and shooed her off to her room.
"Out of everyone I'd prefer him with Elena. Katerina is too disgusting and a whore to be a member of this family." Kol said, making sure that Rebekah could hear him.
Once Rebekah was soundly asleep Kol returned to Elijah's room and allowed Elijah to see the memory from the kitchen and to hear Rebekah's hateful words.
"If that's how she feels about Elena then they're all in danger. I can't imagine her feeling any better about Bonnie or Caroline. Elijah I won't let her hurt Bonnie. I can't; I need her Elijah."
Elijah ran a hand through his hair, this whole situation annoying him.
"We have her and Niklaus live here and the rest of us live in the Compound-spruce it up and then, when the baby comes, make her come clean with what she's done."
"Then we dagger her?" Kol asked. Elijah nodded.
"Then we can dagger her." He gave him a pointed look. "I know that you were working on a gold dagger to use on Niklaus-get Bonnie and Davina to help you with it and use it on him."
Kol nodded. They were in dangerous territory now. That night he held Bonnie extra close. He hoped they were doing the right thing. His thoughts turned to Caroline and he remembered Bonnie's words about how she would feel if he were daggered.
The next day Kol, Jeremy, Bonnie and Davina went back to the compound under the guise of removing the pile of bone and ash. While that was going on Kol quickly explained the plan to Bonnie and Davina. Then he pulled out a small box and opened it to reveal a gold dagger which contained none of the metals that Klaus' system could overcome. Bonnie and Davina got started with the spelling and potion process.
"I hope we're doing the right thing," Bonnie worried.
"I hope so too." Kol said as he busied himself with finding a place to hide the dagger and get Rebekah to admit to attacking Elena.
It wasn't going to be easy.
Elijah had renovations start on the compound that afternoon. Every couple would have a suite of rooms including a bedroom, spacious modern bath, walk-in closet and sitting room. Once the blueprints had been drawn up Elijah and Kol agreed on them and the work began.
Elena had the sledgehammer in her hands and smashed most of the walls of the compound.
"Elena," Bonnie and Jeremy said at the same time. "Are you sure you're okay?"
She nodded. "I'm fine you two!" She said as she hit another wall in her and Elijah's room.
Bonnie was sitting on the exterior staircase levitating debris down to the dumpster and materials up to the work crews who had been compelled not to remember anything from the job.
"I can't wait," Bonnie grinned, "carerra marble floors in the bath and tile in the steam shower and that giant tub...plus walk-in closets..."
"Like we've died and gone to heaven," Elena smiled.
"Crap!" Caroline cried out. Elijah was closest and had to reset her foot where she had broken most of the bones with a sledgehammer.
"This is why you don't need a sledgehammer Care." Elena let out a groan.
"Yeah yeah," the blonde groused. "I'll leave the hammering to the rest of you."
"Why don't you see if BonBon needs anything? With all the heavy lifting she's doing she might be thirsty," Kol suggested.
"Anything I can help with?" Klaus asked as he appeared. Stefan had stayed at the mansion to keep an eye on Rebekah.
"I want you to take over Caroline's position." Elijah told him. "She was working on her room and she would have started on yours."
Klaus nodded and begun working on the rooms.

"Here's some blood for you BonBon." Caroline said as she tossed her a blood bag. Bonnie caught it and drank it happily.
"Thanks Care," Bonnie smiled appreciatively. As a team the project went along smoothly. Bonnie eventually exhausted herself and Davina took over while Jeremy was working on their quarters. He wasn't used to his vampire strength and put his hammer through the ceiling making a hole in Kol and Bonnie's closet floor. Bonnie leaned through to tease him about it and got stuck.
"Need a hand?" Jeremy teased her back but helped her get out of the hole she was stuck in.
"This isn't supposed to be here," Bonnie sighed and that was how she got beautiful new hardwood floors in their walk-in closets. By the time they called it a day the demolition was completely done and tomorrow they would start putting up walls, insulation and the rest of the flooring.
As they all went into their rooms, the girls were in the living room and watching a movie.
"How about He's just not that into you?" Elena said as she held the DVD for all of them.
"I'm in!" Each girl said happily.
"I am so glad I don't have to worry about this anymore," Bonnie sighed as she watched the movie. "Dating is hard until it isn't."
"OMG I've been through that one," Caroline groaned as she watched the girl leave desperate messages.
Elena snorted. "You left more than that many messages-you left like twenty." Davina and Bonnie giggled at Caroline.
"How many have you left?" Caroline asked Elena.
"One and that message turned out to be a lie fabricated by a blonde bitch; that's now pregnant by my ex." Elena told her as she popped a popcorn kernel into her mouth.
"Okay...moving on," Davina said.
"How are things with you and Jeremy?" Bonnie asked.
"Great," Davina blushed sweetly, "he's everything I ever wanted and more. Umm...we're all...well like family right?" As the other girls nodded Davina dropped her voice to barely audible. "I keep feeling incredibly drawn to his blood. I don't understand it but I think I want to bite him. What's wrong with me?"
"I don't know," Elena feigned.
"Maybe we can look it up?" Bonnie offered.
"Honestly ladies? Bonnie, Elena I'm going to call at least the two of you out on that one," Elijah said with a smirk where he was leaned against the door frame. "Blood sharing is a perfectly normal part of a vampiric life Davina. Elena and Bonnie have both done so. In fact it is the most intimate connection you can have with another vampire."
Elena stood up and walked over to him. "Oh really?" She smirked at his nod. "How about another demonstration?"
"Now what kind of gentleman would I be to refuse a lady like yourself?" he asked and whisked her away.
"So I should do it?" Davina asked.
"Oh yes," Bonnie replied.
"And it won't hurt him?"
"It won't hurt either of you, plus something wonderful happens when you do."
Davina smiled and left, leaving only Bonnie and Caroline in the room.
"How do you feel about watching a romantic comedy?" Bonnie asked and Caroline nodded.
"Sure."
"Oh I know how about 'Laws of Attraction'?" Bonnie suggested.
"I love that one!" Caroline squealed.
"We know," Bonnie smiled.
As soon as the movie began, Stefan decided to join them as did Klaus and Kol.
The popcorn was still spread to the five people but Caroline threw a handful at Stefan who threw his hand full at Bonnie.
"Hey I didn't ask for any!" Bonnie giggled as she threw some back at Stefan. Kol was collecting the pieces that had landed on her and popping them into his mouth.
"Oh my gosh! They got drunk and got married! That's hilarious of course if I was married to someone as hot as him accidentally or otherwise I wouldn't be looking for a way out," Bonnie giggled.
Kol smirked. "Really love?" He asked as he popped another popcorn kernel into his mouth.
"We all pretty much," Caroline added as she threw a handful of popcorn at Klaus. "We know that Stefan and Lexi almost got married after getting way too drunk."
"He said that it was Damon and Lexi." Bonnie said as she furrowed her brows.
"Damon and Lexi? I can't imagine such!" Elena said.
"So you'd rather be married to Pierce Brosnan than me?" Kol gawked.
"Since neither of you are asking me I guess we'll never know," Bonnie said. "Now watch the movie. You just missed the part where it's in the newspaper."
"One day Pierce will ask you," Caroline said as she pat Bonnie's hand. "Just like one day Elena will be asked by this really hot guy to marry him and the reporters get wind of it."
Elena smirked. "And you'll be asked by a very sexy guy."
"I object to all of that!" Kol growled. "Bonnie is mine. If there's any proposing I'm going to do it."
"Jealous much?" Elena teased when Elijah growled.
"Extremely." Elijah barely managed to get out.
Klaus grabbed ahold of Caroline and kissed her soundly.
"We don't share," Klaus told all of the girls.
"That's interesting." Elena said as she moved to sit in Elijah's lap and started wiggling a bit. He buried his face in her collarbone and bit her, not hard enough to break the skin.
"He's right you know," Elijah whispered in a husky tone against her ear. "Don't make me rip a man to shreds over you. It would not be pleasant."
"Little witch you wouldn't dare. Would you?"
Bonnie decided to indulge his ego and she smiled at him, "I'm madly in love with an original; everyone else would just be a poor imitation." Kol kissed her senseless.
Elena decided to moan his name in his ear and added a lick to his throat, causing him to growl.
"Mine." He growled in her mouth as he kissed her deeply.
The next week was a flurry of activity as renovations continued on the compound. It was turning out beautiful from a state of the art kitchen to five star suites everything was modern but with old world charm. Finally everything was finished and all of the workers were handsomely paid and then compelled to forget anything they had seen or done and even the location of the compound. Then came the other hard part; packing everything up and moving.
"Why are you going?" Klaus asked Elijah and Kol as they were packing Elijah's library.
"Caroline desires to live in the compound and both of the girls plus Davina and Jeremy want to live there as well," Kol explained. "So Elijah and I thought it would be best to move that way-in case they befall any trouble."
The truth was, Elijah and Kol didn't trust Rebekah enough anymore not to do anything to the women they loved. So far, she had snapped both Bonnie and Elena's necks but she also placed Elena in the vervain room. Elijah would have daggered her but with her being pregnant and all, he didn't but that didn't mean that he wasn't thinking about doing it to her once the baby's out.
Klaus nodded as it seemed reasonable.
"Just protect Caroline." He said as he left them to the packing.
"Watch over Rebekah," Elijah said. He couldn't have them any the wiser. Everyone eventually got packed up and moved to the compound.
"This place is incredible now," Elena smiled as she flounced onto their new king size four-poster rice bed.
Meanwhile Bonnie put the finishing touches on their suite. It had navy and white stripe walls and a comforter of navy with small gold Fleur de Lis patterned over it. There was a chair with the same fabric and another chair with blue and gold striped satin damask. The whole suite was in navy, gold and white. They had kept the vintage fireplace in each sitting room but outfitted them with new marble surrounds and modern safety measures.
"I must say darling," Kol told Bonnie as he entered with a box of their things. "This is fantastic!"
She laughed and kissed him on the cheek. "Thank you."

Elijah had his things in his and Elena's room when he saw her two birds just chirping along to the music and he let out a laugh as she placed a treat in there. Turning to face him, she smiled.
"They like their egg and honey treats almost as much as they like their millets." She told him.
"They're very beautiful. Their plumage is quite vibrant," Elijah said. As soon as he approached the birds however they began squawking like crazy and flying around their cage in a panic. Elijah backed off and the birds eventually quieted down. "Perhaps they are uncomfortable with what I am...you are not long a vampire and they may not see you as a predator."
She shook her head. "I got them when I was a vampire and they loved me...it's that they're not used to you." She explained as she opened the cage and placed her hand inside. They flew to her hand and as she took them out, she began to hum to them. "You can stroke them but be very gentle. They're extremely fragile." She added.
He did stroke their plumage quite lightly and the blue one fluttered over to him.
"Aqua seems to like you." She said as Petrov was sitting on Elena's head. Aqua nipped his earlobe and settled herself on his shoulder.
"I like her as well." He added with a smile at the bird.
"Kol always loved birds, actually he loves most animals. These would probably drive Klaus crazy," Elijah smiled. "He tends to be bothered by most of nature's creatures." Elena couldn't help but laugh at the thought of Klaus being intimidated or even frightened by her birds. Elijah settled in a chair in the sitting room with Aqua still on his shoulder.
"They are beautiful. What kind are they exactly?" he asked.
"They are parakeets-or budgerigars." She started. "Normally, you can find them in warmer climates or even in Australia and to tell the difference between a male and a female is the cere above the beak." She pointed to Aqua's. "Though hers is brown at the moment-indicating she's ready to mate-a female's cere is usually pink while the male's is blue." She smiled. "Aqua is a Cobalt and Petrov is a Bright Green." She smiled and placed them into the cage. "Tomorrow starts with their new nesting box and a new cage." She added with a sigh.
"You don't approve of this?" Elijah asked. After a quick knock Kol and Bonnie entered the sitting room.
"Ah budgerigars," Kol smiled and both birds flew to him before Petrov returned to Elena. Kol gently stroked Aqua with a smile and then showed Bonnie how to. "What are their names? They're wonderful."
"That one's Aqua," Bonnie said gesturing to Kol's bird, "but I can't ever remember the other one."
"It's not that I mind but there's going to be a new cage and I'm not sure that everyone will be okay with it." She told him.
"I don't mind cute little baby birds," Bonnie smiled.
"Yeah the only one with a problem will be Klaus," Kol laughed. "Why don't you let me buy them their new home?"
Elena nibbled on her bottom lip and then nodded.
"Alright." She said after a moment. "Just remember that the cage needs to be big enough to fit both-a nesting box and a couple of bird baths in it."
Kol nodded and said, "one needs to be named after me!"
"Why don't I just let you have one?" She said to him smiling.
"If you can bear to part with one," Kol smiled. They visited the rest of the evening and enjoyed the birds. Two days later a very large rod iron bird cage appeared. It had Fleur de Lis detailing as well as two baths and a spacious nesting box whose exterior looked like a Parisian townhouse. It took up about four feet along one wall of the sitting room.
Elena stared at it in wonder. "Oh my god! This is more amazing than I'd ever imagine! Petrov and Aqua would love it!" She squealed as she hugged him tightly around the waist and managed to coax the birds inside. Each one ended up looking inside and Elena ushered them all out-not wanting to watch them mate and to give them privacy.
"You want me to show you what the birds are doing?" Kol teased Bonnie. She frowned a moment and then smacked him on the arm. Unfortunately this only spurred him on and he threw her over his shoulder and flashed to his bedroom.
"Apparently," Elena said as she passed a horny Original and Bonnie who was over said Original's shoulder. "It's also mating time for Kol."
Elijah choked on the drink of blood he had swallowed. She went over to him and grabbed the mug that was in his hands and took a sip of it, nearly moaning in its taste.
He had enough of those little moans and moves that she did to get him riled up. He placed the mug on the counter and swept her into his arms and brought her into their room, making sure that she only remembers to scream his name as loud as she can.
"At some point we should probably eat," Bonnie told Kol languidly some five hours later. She was wrapped up in his arms and basking in his love for her. She traced idle circles over his chest. "I love you Kol and I want to be yours forever."
"I thought you knew you already are darling," Kol said before he kissed her once more. As the couples began to emerge there was a delicious smell in the courtyard. Klaus had appeared and brought crown of lamb with roasted red potatoes and broccoli medallions.
"I was afraid you all might starve to death over here," he called out as they all began to make an appearance.
"I love lamb," Bonnie moaned in delight.
"Me too," Kol smiled.
A thought occurred to Kol.
"Why are you making Elijah's favorite meal?" Klaus looked completely innocent.
"I can't be a good brother?" He asked. Kol's eyes narrowed. "I'm trying to be a good brother."
"You just want to get laid by Caroline." Elena called from the balcony of the room she came out of, wearing a strapless dress of champagne color.
"I was worried about all of you!" He called back.
"Caroline love, please do us all a favor and give my brother a chance," Kol teased. "I'm afraid he's getting desperate if he's resorting to bribing Elijah." He vaulted over the balcony and then caught Bonnie when she did the same.
"Are there no boundaries anymore?" Jeremy groaned.
"We're all family here, why bother?" Bonnie said.
"I just don't want to know what's going on with my sister and Elijah." He shivered. "Just spare me that." Elena laughed from where she was standing.
"We will!" She told him and he looked at her with a smile.
"Are you going to come down here?" He asked and she nodded, flashing away and to stand right next to him.
Everyone was savoring the lamb when Stefan and Rebekah appeared.
"We were feeling kind of out of the loop over there with all of our family over here," Stefan said.
"Come! We have lamb!" Bonnie enthused and Kol immediately became more protective of her.
Rebekah looked at him with slight hurt in her eyes.
"How are you feeling Rebekah?" Elena asked. "I can't believe you're almost 22 weeks along already."
"It looks so cute on her," Bonnie smiled, "I'll admit I'm envious."
"Aren't we all?" Elena asked as she gave the blonde a smile.
Rebekah glanced down at her abdomen and began rubbing it lovingly. She hated the girls who her brothers say that they're 'in love' with but that didn't mean that she hated Stefan. Her plan to be rid of all three required time and patience; she didn't have the patience but she had the time...all she needed was the perfect moment and her plan will work.
"I can fix that for you anytime," Bonnie grinned at Elena and Elijah.
"How about it Kol?" Elena looked to him, "Bonnie can cure her baby envy anytime..."
Kol looked her up and down, wondering if she wanted it now.
Elijah ducked his head low to her ear and growled, "do you want a child with me?"
She turned into his arms and whispered to his lips, "I actually do."
Kissing her, he smiled once they parted.
"Bonnie," he said. Bonnie looked at him as he said, "do that spell on Elena, now please."
"So you both..." Kol trailed off with wide eyes.
Both nodded.
As soon as dinner was finished Bonnie drank some of Kol's blood and then sat on the ground. As she began to chant she began to glow white and sparkling diamond dust began to appear all around them. She was deep in concentration as she performed the spell. Since she liked Elena so much she decided to start her off at seven weeks pregnant and at least put half of the first trimester behind her. She smiled as she gently tucked the baby inside her best friend and made sure that the child was protected.
"It's done, you're seven weeks pregnant," Bonnie smiled, "congratulations."
Elena smiled widely and Elijah nodded his head in thanks.
"Seven weeks." She said happily as she rubbed her abdomen lovingly. "Don't worry baby, mommy and daddy will protect you."
"Just remember this is going to be a huge adjustment physically and emotionally for you so cut yourself some slack. Everyone else please try to be understanding as well." Bonnie said. Bonnie was unsteady as she got up.
"Excuse me I need to rest."
Kol picked Bonnie up and took her to their room so she can rest.
Rebekah, who watched Elena become seven weeks pregnant, was furious at the thought. Her plan to be rid of the doppelgänger now had to be put on the back burner.
She can wait, that way, she can revise her plan.
