A/N: Holy mother of I can't believe I'm back. So… been a while, hasn't it? Six years to be exact and damn, I have missed this story. I am sorry for taking such a long hiatus but I'm back and ready with more stories; new and sequels! C:
So, fun fact, it took me yesterday and part of today to make this. I made it longer then I normally do chapters since it's special and forever since I last updated. Chapter 8 was updated on the 12/19/10 and almost six years later (OwO) this comes out… Holy.
I couldn't find a place to stop so I just kept writing. Be ready for incoming fluff in the next coming chapters; it's much needed.
Disclaimer: As if I owned Inuyasha—that would be awesome though but alas, I do not.
I hope you like it!
Made for You
Chapter Nine
An Unwanted Test
One could hear a pin drop; it was that quiet. It nerved Kagome to know that her mother had actually been brewing a spell more than it nerved her when she told Inuyasha her story. The contents on the floor made her nose twitch. Whatever she had been working on smelled delicious; like freshly baked cookies with lavender. Kagome inched away from the mess and closer to InuTaisho, who raised an eyebrow in question. He clearly wanted to know what was going on and why.
Tirachel, for the most part was all but calm. The fact that InuTaisho had caught her in the middle of her spell making was annoying. He would for sure say no to this. It wasn't like she couldn't say anything to him now… She hated her luck at this moment in time. "May I ask as to why you decided to come back now? I thought you were coming back tomorrow?" she requested, drying up her mess now. The cloth, unfortunately for her, went aflame. She stared at it then blinked. Maybe it was good that this went wrong. Tirachel was positive that, that was not how the spell was supposed to act.
"I left last night and would return in the morning. It is the morning," he replied as though that would explain it and judging by Tirachel's expression, she didn't understand. He sighed; this was not how he saw his morning going.
Kagome glanced between the two of them before sighing herself. This was getting her nowhere. "Tirachel, I would very much to know… why you were making a spell?" she questioned her mother, who turned her attention back to that of her daughter with a tilt of her head. Kagome resisted the urge to twitch in annoyance.
"Oh no reason! No reason whatsoever!" Kagome twitched.
InuTaisho shook his head while sniffing the air. He narrowed his eyes on the smell and looked back down to the floor; the leftovers still there as Tirachel tried desperately to clean them up. "I'm disappointed Tirachel. I would have thought you wanted Kagome and Sesshomaru to fall in love the right way; not by means of love potions."
Kagome stood there like a deer in headlights as her jaw dropped open a little. Her mother was making a love potion?! To use on herself or his royal highness?! Didn't she get a say in this? "It is not a love potion!" her mother answered in defense. Like hell it's not…
"Really, certainly smells like one to me," he thought with a smug air to him. Tirachel huffed.
"I don't have time for this," Kagome stated, book still in her arms and she went to move away and out of sight of this troublesome moment. And just as she was about to step foot out of the kitchen, InuTaisho stopped her. She gritted her teeth before smiling to him. "Yes?"
"I heard that my son will be helping you train. I would like to join in on that," he explained as she gaped at him. He placed his hand on her lower back, leading her to the dojo.
The walk was quiet and Kagome wished she never awoke for this morning. She foresaw aching joints. If she was honest with herself, she was excited to be learning new things but on the downside, she was nervous. Aside from the brief training she had gotten from Sango, she didn't know what to expect when her trainer was a demon. If only she didn't wake up; if only. She sighed as she walked into the dojo.
There four groups of men sparring with their partner in hand-to-hand combat. She was a priestess; she didn't rely on that though. She was okay with her bow; she would have loved someone teaching her how to actually use it for once but she knew she was asking too much. It was a pity too, she loved the bow.
InuTaisho brought her further into the room as some of the men on the sidelines lifted their lips in disgust before gaping at the sight. Their lord before Lord Sesshomaru was standing next to the woman. They couldn't believe that he was alive; how? The men then saluted to the him as he nodded, accepting their respect. InuTaisho waited for a moment before sending his aura to find his son. He smirked when he received a harsh push back.
Moments later found Sesshomaru in the dojo with a look of displeasure on his face. The men immediately bowed to him but they were dismissed seconds later. "All the men here are to leave," demanded Sesshomaru, glaring at them as if waiting to see if any of them would disrespect him. They cleared out within seconds leaving only three beings behind. Sesshomaru glanced at his somewhat alive father then to the small woman at his side then to the book in her arms. He looked at her. "You are not dressed for battle."
Kagome placed the book to floor gently before crossing her arms over her chest. "I do just fine without battle gear." Typical males, telling her what she could and could not wear.
"No, he's right. You need something different. You need to be able to stretch your legs to their fullest and have wide range for your arms," InuTaisho explained as Kagome felt the need to defend herself. He put a hand up to stop her protest. "Go through that door, you'll find what you need." He then pointed to a door in front of them and pushed Kagome towards it.
She stumbled and puffed before listening. She found what he was talking about but absolutely hated it. She looked around for something sharp. She grunted when she found a small dagger and sliced the sleeves of the haori. She took off her shirt and placed that on. Kagome was thankful for wearing a sport's bra.
She looked at the hakamas in disdain. She was not about to wear that. They were blue, long, and clearly for a man. She took her jeans off and switched into them or tried to. It was three sizes too big. Kagome noted something that appeared like hair ties and smiled. She placed one in her hair and then yelled in irritation. Kagome walked out and over to the males. "Perhaps you forget but I'm a woman and I'm small. This is way too big for me."
InuTaisho and Sesshomaru could only stare. She looked absolutely ridiculous. InuTaisho bit his lip from laughing as Sesshomaru felt his lip twitch in amusement. Kagome glared at both, not happy. She was trying to hold up the pants with one hand. "Maybe it would be better if we got your size tailored…"
"Ya think!"
"You two stay here; I'll be right back with someone." To which, InuTaisho left and left them alone. Kagome didn't know if she liked the idea of being alone with Sesshomaru just yet.
Kagome watched as Sesshomaru went over to the stands that held training weapons. He grabbed one wooden swords and a pair of white gloves before throwing the gloves in her face. He watched in satisfaction as the gloves stayed where they were before she slowly grabbed them off her face. She was not pleased but he smirked regardless. "Sword or hand?" he asked as she turned her head into the air and walked over to the other side of the room. She more than waddled her way over.
"I'd rather use my bow."
"And what would happen if an enemy was a close ranged warrior?"
Kagome paused; he had her there she guessed. "My… uh… fists?"
"Put those gloves on," he ordered as she gave him a look. He raised an eyebrow to that.
"How about no? If you really need me in a different set of clothes and clearly these are not the best fit, then I will be waiting until I get new ones." Kagome could tell that she was slowly pissing him off. She wondered if she should just keep her mouth shut for a while. Perhaps then it won't get her into trouble.
Sesshomaru to her surprise remained quiet until his father came back with a really pretty woman. InuTaisho smirked when he noticed that Kagome was to the furthest wall away from his son. "Kagome, this is Ytix, Goddess of Trend. She will help you with your outfit."
Kagome couldn't help but be at awe at the woman. She was beautiful. Ytix had long blonde hair that was in a braid with many different flowers sporadically in places. Her eyes were violet and reminded Kagome so much like Miroku's, only darker. She wore many diverse gold necklaces around her neck with a silver choker. She was dressed in a short strapless light blue dress. On her feet were Greek gold shoes that wrapped around her legs in crisscross patterns, stopping a little below her knees. "Come this way, Lady Kagome," she said, her voice gentle and airy. Kagome couldn't help but follow after her.
InuTaisho smiled. "I did good." Sesshomaru merely gazed at his father. "Really good." They waited a good couple of minutes before they turned to the door as Ytix came back out with a gentle smile gracing her face. "Tell me you did your job well?"
"Do you doubt me?"
"No…"
"Come on out Lady Kagome," she said as they all heard a squeak. "Lady Kagome, there is nothing to be afraid of."
"I feel exposed though!" came a muffled response.
"It is airy and allows movement," the woman pointed out as InuTaisho started to get curious. Ytix noticed this but said nothing about it.
"It's short and shows more skin then I'm used to showing!"
Ytix chuckled. "Lady Kagome, nonsense. Now come out here."
"No! I'll embarrass myself!"
"What did you dress her in, Ytix?" asked InuTaisho, curiosity getting the better of him.
"I honestly don't understand why she is complaining. She's beautiful; she should show off that figure. It's essentially what Lord Sesshomaru wears but designed for a woman."
"Only the head, neck and hands show skin and what you say is true then that can't be what my son wears."
Ytix stepped up to Lord Sesshomaru and waved her hand around his arm. "The cloth has shorter sleeves, here." She showed the length of the sleeves, using Sesshomaru as her reference. He was not pleased with this. "The battle armor comes up here, protecting the chest and rests here, protecting the waist and below but curved to her body. Her sash is exactly like his but blue and white. And lastly, instead of hakamas, she wears a skirt." Ytix walked over to the door that kept Kagome in. She yanked Kagome out with a squeak. "As you see now, it is as I described."
Kagome was blushing hard and tried to cover herself but failed. What would she use anyways? She decided that since both Sesshomaru's and InuTaisho's eyes were glued to her, she would hide behind Ytix. "I feel exposed," Kagome mumbled behind her as Ytix giggled. "This is cruel and unfair."
"Lady Kagome, there is nothing to be afraid of. You now have the right gear on and can fight to your heart's content," Ytix voiced. She was happy for this; she loved watching Kagome's reaction.
"Holy shit, that is one fine piece of ass," a voice interrupted them. Kagome groaned knowing exactly whose voice that belonged to and wished for the ground to swallow her whole. There was no god to answer this prayer though.
Sesshomaru growled in his direction as his eyes settled on Omorthan, who was smirking as if he just won the prize. InuTaisho was pleased of Sesshomaru's warning. "Omorthan, how nice of you to join us," Ytix deadpanned as Kagome giggled to that.
"Ytix! Babe!" Kagome did a double take. What? Did that mean he wouldn't be after me? "Isn't this a nice surprise! What the hell are you doing here?" he asked as Ytix merely turned to face Kagome. Kagome's hopes were crashed when she saw Ytix's face; she was annoyed.
"Go crawl in that hole of yours and leave me be."
"Oh you hurt me so. Well at least, I have Kagome still."
"You will leave Lady Kagome alone," she said, finally turning to face him. "I will castrate you if you don't."
Omorthan didn't look fazed that, that would actually have happened and tried to make his way over to that fine being named Kagome. She looked so ravishing. He was immediately blocked when Sesshomaru stepped into his path. "Oh no you don't, Kagome is mine and you are not going to stop me from having her, fuck face."
Kagome was silently cheering Sesshomaru on in her mind as she observed his hand; acid was dripping from it. Ytix was pleased that someone aside from herself would put Omorthan in his place. But despite everything it was InuTaisho's whip that was suddenly heard followed by a yowl.
"Omorthan just got served." Kagome giggled along with Ytix.
Omorthan cried out in pain. "Taisho! You asshole! I can't see anymore!" InuTaisho merely smirked, not that the male could see. "All I wanted was to see Kagome and you go and blind me! What the fuck?!" He was still as loud as ever.
"Why I didn't do that in the first place I will never know," he said as he examined his claws with a flick of his wrist. "I have had enough of your shit and I'll be damned if I don't do something about it. You are coming with me." To which, he went over to Omorthan and roughly grabbed his bicep.
"No you fucker, let go of me! Why can't you understand! Kagome should be with me!" That was the last thing everyone heard before both males disappeared from the room.
Note to self; never get him mad, Kagome thought before looking over to Sesshomaru, his eyes where still narrowed on the place where his father and Omorthan vanished from. "Right, so now what?" she asked as Sesshomaru finally turned his attention back to her. She briefly wondered why she couldn't keep her mouth shut.
He bent down to pick up a wooden sword that lay forgotten the ground for a while before handing it to Kagome. She was hesitant to take it but wrapped her fingers around it slowly. She kept a close watch on him as he took out Tenseiga. "Simply watch my movements and follow them." He took a stance as Kagome had a mini panic attack.
"Wait, wait, wait! Are you insane? You gave me a wooden sword… wood versus metal would lose."
Sesshomaru resisted the urge to sigh. "I said to watch not that I was going to be going up against you. Your pathetic human self wouldn't be able to go against me." Kagome wanted to slap him but held herself back for the moment. He did say to watch though but she had jumped the gun. "Put on those gloves and follow my movements."
He got into a stance that Kagome had seen Inuyasha do thousands of times and mimicked him with her wooden sword after putting on the gloves she was given a while back. She felt ridiculous in holding the weapon and her clothes. Sesshomaru lowered his sword before swinging it up causing her to squeak at the sudden movement. She tried this and felt like she was an old lady shaking bread at kids. She mentally laughed at her image.
He repeated the motion but this time on his other side. Kagome supposed that it had something to do with blocking. He turned his body so that he was facing her, she did the same. She now felt like she was a kid being taught a lesson; it wasn't the best of feelings. Sesshomaru moved quick as Kagome brought her sword up to meet his. "Whoa! Hold up! What are you doing?" she asked, startled.
And of course, he didn't answer her. Sesshomaru started throwing those three swings he showed her at her in rapid time. Kagome didn't know what to do aside from defending herself. She had a feeling that the wood would break if she wasn't careful. She felt herself being backed up and after mere seconds, she was pressed against the wall. His sword as well as hers was inches from her neck. "Weak," he said loud enough for her to hear as she glared at him.
"Listen here buddy, how was I supposed to know that you would suddenly start attacking me? You gave me no warning aside from saying that you wouldn't want me to go against you. So what's the big idea, huh?"
"An enemy would lie to your face and then do the exact opposite." Kagome knew that to be true but still. She would've like some warning!
"So what? You could have said something instead of making me go on defense!"
"You would not learn otherwise," he stated, putting more power into pressing against her. She huffed at him in annoyance.
"You don't know me then. I've learned enough from the sidelines with my bow!" Kagome was not happy. Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow with a silent question aimed at her. "I learned to examine my enemy before I attack, to look for any weakness then use it against them," she answered angrily.
Sesshomaru smirked wickedly and if she wasn't already pressed up against a wall, she would have stepped back. "Then find my weakness." He drew back his sword before slamming it on the wooden sword.
He wasn't kidding was he? Okay, come on girl. Think. What would be a weakness in Sesshomaru? She looked him dead in the eyes, molten gold staring back at her smugly, as though she wouldn't be able to find anything that he was weak against. There's got to be something. I can't use words… he'd throw them back in my face. Hm… if only I was using my bow then I could purify his sorry ass. Wait! That's it!
Kagome glowered at him as she sent her priestess powers into the sword. The wooden sword lit up, pink and purple light swirling around the sword as Sesshomaru's eyes widened slightly. Kagome took a step forward; she waved her sword back at him causing him to take a step back. She smirked at him in victory.
Ytix watched in awe as Kagome found what she was looking for and before she knew it, Kagome had the lord on the other side of the room, pressed against the training weapons display. She was proud of Kagome. "Found your weakness, Sesshomaru," she heard Kagome whisper. She smiled at this. It was at this that InuTaisho had reappeared at her side in equal awe and asked her to give him a rundown of what he missed.
Sesshomaru, although he was secretly impressed at her backbone, he simply couldn't allow her this victory. He pressed back with enough force that not only did it knock her to the ground, it made him feel something. He liked her on the ground looking stunned. "I believe that is a victory," he told her as her fiery temper flared; his beast was pleased at the action. He placed his sword at her neck and waited for her to admit defeat. However, he was not expecting what happened next to happen either.
Kagome tightened her hold on the sword, spiked a little of her power into it again and smacked her sword at his feet, causing him to fall flat on his back as well. "Should've knocked my sword out of my hand," came her response as she smiled.
He laid there in wonder. Both stayed laying on the ground before Kagome let out a chuckle, followed by a belly laugh. He would never admit it but her laugh was contagious. Sesshomaru sat up, taking note that his father was gaping at the sight and Ytix was trying not to smile at the scene. He pushed himself off the ground and peered down to the woman, who was trying to get a hold of herself. He offered his hand with a clear of his throat to get her attention.
She stopped laughing, fearing for a second that she was going to get hurt then noticed the hand stretched out to her. She stared at it then up to its owner. Sesshomaru gave her a look that questioned herself as a person. Kagome eyed it before giving up and grabbing a hold of his hand. She felt the spark that zapped her hand and looked it at with wide eyes. Sesshomaru took his hand back that moment; Kagome just knew that he felt it as well but chose to for once keep her mouth shut. "That'll be all for today. You are expected back here every morning until I say otherwise." He left after that, causing Kagome to stare at his retreating form in curiosity.
"I must say, I approve," Ytix said once Sesshomaru was no longer in the room. "When InuTaisho told me to dress his daughter-in-law, I thought he was crazy since he no longer has a hold on this ground but I'm glad that you are going to be a part of his family." Kagome flushed.
"Daughter-in-law?"
InuTaisho stepped up to her and a fat grin on his face. "Well, you will eventually get with my son. I'd prefer sooner rather than later since I want grandkids." Kagome's face if possible turned redder. "And don't think for a second that I didn't see what just happened."
Kagome grabbed the book and took off to save herself from being anymore embarrassed than she already was. She heard InuTaisho laughing as she left. She found her room a couple minutes later and shoved the book into her pack before leaving the room yet again. This time to find something worth doing. She wandered through the halls and eventually found a set of stairs that lead to the main hall. Kagome didn't want to be in the castle at this moment in time and allowed her legs to carry her to wherever she was going.
She paused for a second, as she stepped outside. It was hot and muggy; it would rain soon that much she knew. There were darker clouds coming from the east at a rather impressive speed. She shrugged, if she was going to get caught in the rain, she'd welcome it right now. She walked away from the castle and over to the main gates. She touched them and her eyes widened. They just zapped her! "Lady Kagome." That was Ytix and as Kagome turned to her, the guards that she was just noticing were looking at her with a look of displeasure.
Ytix dismissed the guards in a hand gesture, leading Kagome out and away from them. Kagome didn't seem to have a problem with this until they kept getting further and further away from the castle. "Where are we going?" Kagome finally asked after about ten minutes of walking. She was positive that she wouldn't be able to find the castle now. Ytix kept zigzagging around the forest, thoroughly confusing her.
The blonde didn't say anything and Kagome didn't like how this was going. Ytix sharply turned to her causing Kagome to eep. "This is a test from InuTaisho. That is all you need to know and good luck." She vanished into thin air as Kagome just stood there, gaping. This was not how she saw this going. She only wanted to go on a walk…
Kagome took in her surroundings and didn't like how the clouds were forming. It didn't take long for the thunder to roll in and then a flash of lightning followed by the heavy rain. Now she minded getting stuck in the middle of nowhere in the rain. She would see to InuTaisho's death in the near future. The rain pelted her; it reminded her of when she got her brother a paint ball gun and he decided that his first target would be his sister.
She needed to get out of the rain and find some form of shelter if she didn't want to get sick. She walked for a little bit under the trees but still did not find shelter. Of course, it was just her luck though. She thought that Ytix seemed like a nice woman but she didn't seem like the type that would just abandon her. And the fact that InuTaisho was behind this sent her into a fit of rage. How was this a test; a test of what? To see if she got sick and died? Kagome narrowed her eyes onto a log. She hoped that he wouldn't send Sesshomaru either. She's had enough of him for the rest of the day.
Another flash of lightning with an immediate clap of thunder let her know that the storm was right on top of her. Kagome glared at everything around her and blinked. She couldn't see anymore. If possible, it got even darker like it was night out but that wasn't possible seeing as it was still early in the morning. She hoped that nothing bad would come from this or sneak up on her. Eventually she gave up in her walk; it was pointless to just wander the lands when one couldn't see a foot in front of themselves.
Truth be told, she was never fond of storms. When she was little, she would always hide when a storm made its way to her home. It was times like this that she wished that she could go home and hide underneath the comfort of her comforter or hide in the bathroom or in her mom's bed. Kagome put her arms out in front of her and felt a tree then tripped over its roots. Catching herself, she decided to sit down on the root and wait for the storm to pass. She was shivering from the harsh rain and cold. She rubbed her hands over her arms in hopes to warm herself up. And then the wind picked up as she glared into the darkness. "What is it always me?" she muttered to herself with a puff of aggravation.
"Perhaps you wander away from your protection." That came from behind and she gulped; that was never a good sign if you heard an answer to your own question. "Perhaps you shouldn't have gotten yourself lost." That came from her left this time; this voice was familiar. She just couldn't place it where she had heard it. "Perhaps your security isn't looking for you." And then there was a man in front of her, a mere foot away since that was all she could see in front of herself. She gasped.
"Naraku!" she yelled out as she was roughly grabbed. She didn't have time to scream as a hand was placed on her mouth. Kagome shook her head trying to get out of his hold. "Let me go!"
"Nonsense, not when I have a hold of you," he whispered into her ear as she struggled. "This time around, you are by yourself and there is no one around to save you. My luck must be changing if that's the case." He tightened his grip on her waist and jumped into the air, hovering just above the trees. "Can you see the castle? You can say goodbye to it now. You won't see it again." He made her look, taking pleasure as her eyes teared up.
Kagome had to do something, anything would suffice. She was not about to go with Naraku no matter what he said. They were high up and she knew that a fall like that from this height would no doubt kill her. Was it worth it though? Let's see, be Naraku's toy or purify him and hope I don't die from fall damage? She called upon her powers and they sprang forth immediately to come to her aid. Her body glowed pink as it lit up the sky like a beacon, giving away their position to whoever was around; if there was someone around. Naraku let her go with a grunt of disapproval and a bit of pleasure of having the privilege of watching her fall to her doom. I'm going to die... pity; I saw my life going differently.
There were twin howls in the distance or maybe they were close? Kagome couldn't tell at this point but as she neared the ground, she landed earlier than expected and landed on something soft too. "Such a disappointment that someone came to your rescue. Until next time," Naraku said, disappearing within his miasma.
She held onto whatever she was on for dear life, sobbing into it. She didn't feel movement or notice the sudden clear up of darkness. It was only until she heard, "Are you alright?" that she looked up to her savior and couldn't help but hug him. She felt him tense under her hug and didn't care right now. She was alive and away from Naraku.
"Thank you, Sesshomaru," she mumbled into his neck causing him to stiffen and to her surprise, he wrapped an arm around her waist. His chest rumbled with a warning as she peered out to see and finally noticed that she could see around herself. InuTaisho, from what she could tell, was somewhere in front of Sesshomaru. Kagome unwrapped her arms from Sesshomaru and whirled around to face InuTaisho. She absentmindedly noted that Sesshomaru didn't let her go and honestly, she didn't mind right now. She narrowed her eyes on the older inu and growled out, "This is a test! Let's see what happens first on the list of possibilities; get sick and die from the weather, get kidnapped by Naraku, get kidnapped by Naraku and be used as a toy for him, or die from fall damage! You have some nerve. If Sesshomaru wasn't holding me back, your head would be rolling!"
InuTaisho grimaced. He had not thought of Naraku coming and finding her. That was one very big drawback but in reality, it produced a wonderful outcome. Sesshomaru didn't want him near her, he was also holding her back like she said, and if that wasn't a protective stance, he would have walked closer. "Relax-"
"Relax! Are you out of your mind?! I am not going to be relaxing anytime soon for your information!" Sesshomaru's growl got more intense as his father took few steps back in reflex.
"Kagome, I'll admit that what I did was a poor decision on my part but perhaps you should notice who you're in the arms of?" he said as Kagome glared harder at him.
"Yes, I'm well aware of what Sesshomaru is doing and good for him! You are one sick, messed up in the head guy! Don't think I don't know what you're doing because I do!"
"Oh, and what am I doing?"
"That is enough," Sesshomaru snarled as his father's eyes extended. Sesshomaru formed a cloud below his feet, holding Kagome closer to himself before taking off and away from InuTaisho. Kagome was radiating with suppressed anger and Sesshomaru sought to fix that, through a different way.
"Ytix, you have done wonderfully," he said as the woman appeared by his side.
"I have no idea what you could possibly be talking about."
