Chapter 33

A paleness crept into her face. Did they know that it was really her? Looking at them, eyes hard and cold, she had a feeling they knew.

"Elena not only told me but allowed me to see her memory of the attack." Elijah growled.

"I...Elijah what are you saying?" she worried.

"He's saying Bekah that we've caught you red-handed," Klaus said. "We see you for what you truly are." She turned to make for the door and Kol cut her off with an evil smile.

"Kol..."

"Oh no...I'm the cold, cruel one remember? I'm the one whose fiancée and child you wanted to kill," Kol was so angry he was vamping out. He couldn't contain his temper and he hadn't gone this far in a very, very long time.

"Well," Elijah said to him after a moment. "To be fair, she wanted to kill mine too. Remember?" His eyes, so warm and trusting, were now cold as they stared at her.

"I'm still dating Caroline." Klaus said. "No engagement and no baby. It's these two," he motioned to Kol and Elijah, "you need to worry about. Me personally, I'd have daggered you and compelled Stefan to forget you but everyone said that it was a bad idea. So whatever punishment these two have for you...well, good luck with that." He was about to leave when he turned to stare at her. "Before I forget, as much as I like Stefan-he is an old friend of mine-I'd prefer him with someone unlike you." That said, he left.

She didn't dare look at Kol and Elijah, at the moment.

"What's my punishment going to be?" She asked. Elijah and Kol looked at one another and nodded.

"As much as I want you to be happy," Kol said. "That ship has long since ran its course." His smile turned more menacing than she'd ever seen. "Elijah and I agreed on this-with Klaus' consent-that you-just you-are to leave New Orleans for a while." He shook his head. "Though like I said-it will just be you. Lilly will be here with Stefan and raised away from your cold and cruelness."

"She will know you-or of you, whichever Stefan prefers-while you will be updated on her." Elijah said as he watched her crumble down to the ground and cry.

"No! Elijah no!" Rebekah gasped, "Elijah you can't take Lilly from me! She's my daughter Elijah! How could you?"

"How could you Rebekah?" Kol rebutted, "how could you try to take from Elijah the woman he loves? He has watched over and protected us for a thousand years. He has patiently saved us from one debacle after another! He loves us Bekah but it's still lonely. Then Elena came into his life and I don't know about you but I could see the change in him. He finally came to life again. Then you try to take her from him not once, not twice but three times! I am ashamed of you Rebekah!"

"You would take my little girl from me?"

"You would steal Kol's son and daughter from him," Elijah said evenly, "and my son from me."

"Why not just dagger me then," She said growing angry again.

"Because we want you to actually live with the consequences of your actions this time." Elijah said.

"Then how do you know I won't finally succeed in getting rid of them?" Rebekah asked. If she could get herself daggered then the pain would be over.

"Then Klaus will have Stefan compelled to forget all about the Originals and you, only remembering that his daughter Lilly was born by a woman who was cruel enough to abandon her and him." Elijah saw the utter horror in her eyes. "Not only that, but if you do succeed in getting rid of them, then I will throw you into a coffin-daggered-in the middle of the Pacific Ocean or onto some deserted island and make sure that no one goes near you through a spell."

"So basically," Kol sounded amused. "You'll be screwed. It's a lose-lose situation for you." She stood up, shakily from the ground.

"Do I need to tell Stefan?" Elijah's laugh was hollow.

"If he's at Cafe Du Monde-he'll know what we're doing and why we're doing it. If he doesn't believe Davina or even Jeremy, they will call Elena and she will tell him everything."

Rebekah took the time she had to compose a long letter to Stefan hoping in time that he would realize her words, her feelings for him for the truth that they are. She packed and then she hovered over her daughter until Kol lifted her from Rebekah's arms.

"Please Elijah," Rebekah pleaded one last time. "don't make it all of her life...please." She looked at each of them in turn. "I truly love you brothers. I only wanted to protect you."

Then she was gone.

"Don't worry little girl," Kol said as he bounced the baby in his arms. "You'll see her again...if I had it my way, it would be when you turn sixteen years of age but the others agreed that it would be when it comes to your sixth birthday."

"She'll be depressed." Stefan commented as he walked into the room. "Klaus and Jeremy are getting the girls." He added with a sad smile on his face.

"I am sorry Stefan," Kol said sincerely, "we made absolutely certain those were her intentions but then we had to protect the girls"

"I understand," Stefan replied.

"I know you really love her and this isn't the end."
