Chapter 34

Bonnie and Elena were horribly disappointed that Kol and Elijah didn't come for them but they were happy for Caroline who-in Klaus' absence- had realized she truly loved him.

"Oh my goodness we're stopping again!" Jeremy groaned. Bonnie and Elena glared at him.

"I've got to stretch my legs a little," Elena said and Bonnie agreed.

"It's going to take two days at this rate!" Jeremy groaned.

"How do you think we feel?" Bonnie said to him sharply.

He winced.

"Sorry." He said weakly.

"I'm sorry Jeremy," Bonnie sighed. "I don't know when I got so irritated..."

"It's called 'pregnancy hormones'." Caroline said to them.

They all stared at her.

"I read quite a few books on the subject." She defended herself.

"Well they definitely found me," Bonnie sighed. "I hope Kol and I don't start fighting for real."

"I got some of those hormones as well BonBon." Elena sighed. "Elijah told me that he had a great punishment for Rebekah but he wouldn't tell me what it is."

Klaus looked out the window.

"For six years, she can't be around her daughter and Stefan." Klaus sighed. "That's her punishment."

"Wow..." Bonnie gasped. She got quiet then and looked out the window. By the time they decided to stop for the night they were on the Alabama coast. Elena, Caroline and Bonnie reveled in walking along the beach in the moonlight.

"You haven't taken your eyes off them since we picked them up," Jeremy observed as he stood next to Klaus in the sand.

"They are Mikaelsons now Jeremy," Klaus explained gently, "they don't go anywhere unprotected. That's what you do when you love someone. If something happened to either of them before I got them back Elijah and Kol would try to kill me."

"Do you believe that Rebekah will come after them at the moment?" Jeremy asked, concerned for the girls.

"Then she'd be daggered and on a deserted island or in the Pacific Ocean. Stefan would be compelled into forgetting Rebekah."

"Wow," Jeremy gasped. "The girls had better not ever get on your bad side."

"Don't step-" Elena tried to get out in time.

"Ouch!" Bonnie yelled and with a muttered curse Klaus ran to Bonnie who was leaning on Caroline.

"It was a jellyfish," Elena worried. A moment later the redness was gone.

"It's good to be a vampire," Bonnie smiled.

Jeremy grinned at her.

"It really is." He said happily. It was at that moment when Elena's phone rang. Looking at the caller ID, a smile broke over her face.

"Hey 'Lijah." She said brightly. "We miss you." She added as she rubbed her bump.

Elena wanted to go back into the hotel room for a little privacy but Bonnie wanted to watch the ocean. Jeremy told Klaus that he would watch Elena and Klaus stayed to watch Bonnie. The next day was another long travel with plenty of pit stops. When they finally arrived in New Orleans both girls were asleep again. Klaus had spent two days in close quarters with pregnant women and though he had imagined he would be sick of the whole experience he now found that he wished he was going through it with Caroline.

Elijah and Kol were waiting for them when they parked in the compound. Flashing over, each one grabbed their significant other and held them like they were a precious gift.

"Welcome back my love." Elijah whispered to Elena and kissing her forehead. Elena stirred in his arms and murmured, "can we take a nap?"

"Of course." He smiled at her and at everyone before taking her upstairs so that they could sleep.

Bonnie curled her head into Kol's shoulder and she murmured, "I'm really hungry."

"What would you like?" Bonnie smiled sleepily.

"Hot and sour soup," she murmured. "Egg rolls and spaghetti with a large bottle of Pepsi mixed with blood."

Kol's smile grew large that was so obviously a pregnant request and it thrilled him.

"You bet in fact hot and sour soup and some green pepper steak sounds great to me," Kol grinned. Chinese met with overwhelming appeal and soon a giant order arrived at the compound.

"What did you all order?" Elijah asked as he came out of his and Elena's room.

"Hot and sour soup, pepper steak, egg rolls and some chow mein." Caroline said and Elijah made two plates-one for him and one for Elena.

When he walked into the room, Elena sat up and saw the food. She smiled widely.

"Egg rolls and pepper steak." She said as she saw what was on her plate. Looking up at him, she smiled. "Love you."

He grinned. "Love you both." He said as he rubbed her bump.

Bonnie's plate was filled with egg rolls and spaghetti next to a bowl filled with hot and sour soup.

"How in the world can stomach watching her eat that?" Klaus made a face at Kol.

"Because at some point my system decided it looks appetizing," Kol made an odd face.

"Ha! Kol has gotten sympathy symptoms," Caroline laughed.

Kol growled at her. She smirked at him.

"So what if I have those symptoms?" He snapped at her.

"Oh my goodness!" Caroline giggled, "he really does have them. Aww...that's really so sweet Kol and I mean that in the best possible way. It means that you really deeply love Bonnie like Elijah loves Elena and it makes me happy to know that both my sisters are so well loved."

He smiled and grinned. His little witch was the light of his life and the fact that she's carrying his twins made him happier than he's ever been.

"Elijah's mood swings are mostly based on Elena's." Klaus chuckled.

"Heaven help us all," Jeremy groaned.

Bonnie caught Caroline and Klaus watching Davina as she fed Lilly while Stefan was sort of eating.

"Caroline how would you like to be pregnant right now?" Bonnie offered in jest.
