Chapter 41

Klaus wanted to strangle her, but at the same time, he wanted to grieve for her.

"Are you okay in here Klaus?" he turned to see Caroline was there, a bit weaker than normal, but there. "Who's diary is that? Kol's? Elijah's?"

"I want you to get everyone into the living room as I have something to share with them about Rebekah that I just discovered." He said with a kiss to her head.

She nodded and wobbled off, curious as to what it was and Klaus knew he had to find a way to be calm as he spoke the words in the diary.

He may be a monster, but if the other males in the room were to hear that, he had a funny feeling that they would find a way to make sure that Rebekah was no longer a member of their family.

For good.

Bonnie appeared first with a bowl of ice cream she had apparently just started on. Elena and Elijah appeared a moment later. Both girls were twenty-one weeks along now. Jeremy, Davina and Stefan appeared a couple of minutes curious as to why they had been summoned.

"They're all back in," Kol said to Elena as he appeared. He had been visiting the birds. He was waiting on them to be old enough before he separated the one that Elena had promised him. He settled with Bonnie and Caroline settled close to Klaus; she didn't look well today. Everyone looked to Klaus curious as to why they had been summoned.

"I was in the library-" he began but Bonnie choked.

"You know where it is?" She asked in a teasing voice. He nodded. "Did you learn to read an actual novel?"

"I know how to read!" He told her. Taking a deep breath, he closed his eyes and opened them. "I found a diary in it. Thinking it was Elijah's...I read it to see if I could get some blackmail on him when I discovered that it was Rebekah's..."

Elijah had a bad feeling. "She said that she hated you and wished you were dead?" He asked.

"Back when we left in 1919 it was because of Mikael finding us here." The brothers shivered as did Elena. "It was because of Rebekah that he found us. She had told him everything and who to get rid of first."

Kol, who had been daggered, looked on in confusion.

"He killed a werewolf named Lana who was with Klaus for a while. The three of us helped bring in the alcohol to the city." Elijah explained. "I was neutralized by a wooden stake to the chest and when I went to help, I had placed the blame on me. Thought it was my fault that Mikael found us."

"She made you believe that?" Elena asked with a growl.

Klaus cleared his throat and quoted something from the diary.

"I know that Elijah still believes in him-that he has humanity left, that same faith he has in Kol who we all know lost his-but he is weak willed. He will always believe in the best and in the good of those who aren't so good.

Just look at Katerina Petrova." Klaus ended the quote.

The room flew into chaos then. Kol was distraught that they thought he was without humanity. Elijah was enraged at being declared weak-willed and made out as a buffoon. Elena and Bonnie were furious on their fiancée's behalf. Klaus was still furious about the real truth of Lana's death. Stefan was in shock at all that Rebekah had wrought and how her legacy seemed to just keep living on.

"My sister does not know how to distinguish between weak-willed and merciful. Perhaps I should find her and give her a refresher course," Elijah growled.

"Not if I find her first," Klaus growled angrily. "How dare she send Mikael to eliminate us? Her own family!"

"They think I'm hopeless," Kol's voice was soft and defeated. Perhaps all his hard work was for naught. Would they ever truly trust him and his intentions? Would they see him as something other than a monster?

"If you want," they all turned to see Davina there with a malicious glint in her eyes. "I can curse her to forever be locked in a sleeping spell. That way, when she does wake, Lilly will definitely think of her as a stranger." She smiled. "I can also help Stefan find a better mate."

Elena decided to take Elijah out of the room and into theirs. Pushing him onto the bed, she straddled his lap as best as she could and placed his hands on her bump.

"I don't care what she says about you." Elena told him determined to get his mind off that blonde. "I've always thought you were more human. More so than her." Kissing him, she smiled. "You aren't that weak willed and besides, is it wrong to try and see the good in people? I did that with Damon-became his friend and had him show off that good side. Look at him now with Katherine who's way better than Rebekah."

Kissing her, he smiled.

"You're not a monster Kol Mikaelson!" Bonnie hissed as the room became colder. "Rebekah is. She's a monster."

"I admit I did some horrible things in my past and I think I almost did lose my humanity but you've changed me Bonnie. This is real. I am not playing some game with you and yet I wonder if I vamped out right here how many of you, my own family, would be terrified of my intentions. Do you all truly trust me?" Kol worried.

"We all trust you." Bonnie and Klaus told him. "We all are broken in a way."

"Mikael's abusive nature made me paranoid." Klaus told him.

"My father tortured me for being a vampire." Caroline added. "FYI it was horrible!"

"My dad abandoned me." Davina said as she raised a hand. "Mom died and then I had been locked away."

"After my parents, I turned to drugs." Caroline and Bonnie snorted at Jeremy.

"Where's Elena?" Stefan asked as he looked around and couldn't see them. "Oh and Kol? I killed my father and it was his blood that I used to help me transition - into a vampire."

"I'm sure that everyone here-in the compound-can tell you how and why they're all broken in a way." Caroline told him as she stood up. "We all have issues, but we all still trust you and everyone else here."

Kol nodded. That went a long way with him.

"Where's Elijah for that matter?" Kol asked.

"Well if they're both missing then odds are they're together," Caroline giggled and everyone else agreed.

"I can't believe Rebekah can be so cold..." Bonnie said.

"Didn't you think that of all of us when you first met us?" Klaus asked.

"I'm not sure I want to know what your family thought of us," Bonnie countered. "Then we got to know one another..."

"In more ways than one it turns out." Jeremy chuckled. He was standing behind Davina and leaning against the doorway. "Besides, my big sister is with Elijah in their room and calming him down as well as making it known that she doesn't care what that bitch sister said about him." He looked thoughtful. "Do you know a way to disinherit her and cut her off from the family money? I'm sure that she has her own she could work with."

"Oh yes," Kol grinned. "We already had some urgent banking business anyhow. Elijah can simply discontinue her access. She only has her allowance account anyhow. She's not on any of the main family accounts."
