Madison sat beside Mercedes as she looked around. Tonight they were having dinner at one of their favorite Mexican restaurants, Poquito Mas. Madison sighed as snuggled against Mercedes, wrapping her arms around her waist.
Mercedes took her eyes off her phone and looked down when she heard Madison sigh, "What's wrong baby?"
"Nothing.." She said quietly as she absently rubbed Mercedes stomach with her small hand.
Mercedes frowned as she looked back up at Sam with a questionable look.
"She's nervous about her game Saturday." Sam answered Mercedes's silent question.
Mercedes lifted Madison's chin up with her finger, "It's alright to be a nervous about it, sweetheart."
"Yeah Madi." Maverick pipped in as he munched on some tortilla chips, "I know I was legit scared when I started at your age but we're all going to be there cheering you on."
"But what if I mess up?" She looked at them with fearful eyes.
"If you mess up then it's okay Muffin, but I have a feeling in my heart that it will not happen." Sam said sweetly as he tried to reassure his daughter.
Madison sighed again before putting her head back down.
Mercedes placed a soft kiss on her cheek, "You're going to be fine baby girl." She saw their waitress come back with their food and she instantly got excited, "Lets make a deal. We eat our food and then we can talk about this when we get home. Deal?"
Madison smiled as she nodded, "Deal." She watched as the waitress sat her tacos down in front of her. She unwrapped herself from Mercedes and began to eat.
"So.." Maverick started as he sipped from his drink, "Are y'all going to miss me when I leave?"
"No." Mercedes answered as she bit down into her burrito, moaning at the delicious taste.
"Negative." Sam said as he looked at him.
"Not one bit." Madison said with a straight face.
Maverick looked at them with wide eyes, frowning a little when they all started to laugh, "That's not funny.."
"We are joking baby." Mercedes chuckled loudly, placing a hand on her stomach.
Sam patted his back with a chuckle, "Just kidding man, just kidding."
"Ha." Maverick said sarcastically as narrowed his eyes at them, a small pout on his lips. Maverick was leaving Monday to attend a football camp for four weeks in Arizona.
"Are you still going to make it to my game?" Madison asked as she stuffed the rest of her food in her mouth.
Maverick nodded with a smile, "Of course. I wouldn't miss it for the world."
Mercedes swallowed her last piece of cheesy beef burrito when she felt her bladder fill up, groaning, she stood up from her seat, "I'll be right back." She turned and wobbled to the back.
Sam looked at her as she left and made she wasn't in sight before he turned back to the kids, "I need to run something by y'all. Aunt Quinn and Santana are having your mom a surprise baby shower on Sunday and I need you two to help me out. Maverick, I need you to keep her occupied that morning while they get things set up and Muffin, I need your help with picking out a special gift for mommy and the twins."
"I think we can manage that. What do you say Madi?"
Madison nodded happily, "Yes.."
"Good, thank you guys." Sam smiled before he pulled his phone out to send a quick text to Quinn.
Mercedes dried her hands as she came out the restroom, throwing her paper towel in the trash. She headed back to the table and sat down in her seat, placing both of her hands on her stomach when she felt her babies starting to kick up a storm, "Geez you two.."
"When are you finding out what you're having?" Maverick asked as he looked at his mother's stomach.
"Tomorrow actually." Mercedes pulled her hair back into a ponytail, "Even though we can't fit all of us in a room, I want you and Madison to come with tomorrow."
"Yay." Madison said with a toothy grin, scanning over her mother's stomach happily.
"It should be an amazing experience for all of us." Sam said as he looked at them, his eyes moving over to his fiancée with a smile.
Mercedes rubbed circles around her stomach, looking up to catch Sam's gaze, she sent him a small smile back. She couldn't wait for tomorrow.
Maverick held his mom's hand as they walked into the doctor's office. He was so excited to find out the sex of his siblings today. Watching as she signed in, he led her to where Sam and Madison were already sitting.
Sam held Madison's hands as she sat in his lap. He could feel the excitement buzzing off everyone and he couldn't help but smile. Looking over at Mercedes, he reached out and grabbed her hand.
Mercedes squeezed Sam's hand back with a smile gracing her lips. Hearing her name called, Maverick help her out of her seat before he sat back down.
Madison sat on Maverick's lap as she watched their parents walk to the back, turning to him, "What do you think we're having?"
Maverick smiled down at her, "I'm going to say either two girls or two boys. What do you think?"
Madison tapped her chin, thinking profoundly, a small smile appearing on her face, "A girl and a boy."
"We'll see." Maverick smirked as he kissed her forehead, leaning back in the seat as they sat and watched Hey Arnold that was playing on the TV.
Mercedes sighed as Sam helped her in the gown. The nurse has just finished checking her vitals when she led them to a room to wait on the doctor. Sitting on the bed, she scooted back and laid down.
Sam pulled the chair closer to the bed, his hand never leaving hers. He kissed the back of it and placed their intertwine hands underneath his chin.
Mercedes held on to Sam's hand, looking over when she heard a knock at the door, "Come in." She said softly.
Dr. Kline opened the door with a smile on his face, closing it behind him, "Good to see you two again." He sat down on his stool, sitting the her file on the table as he reach for some gloves to put on, "Your vitals look really good Mercedes." He turned on the machine, grabbing the gel tube from the slot, he pushed her gown up and squeezed the warm gel onto her stomach.
Mercedes was relieved that the gel was not so cold today. A smile immediately appeared when she saw her babies on the screen.
"Let me just turn up the volume so you can hear their heartbeats." He took the mouse and adjusted the volume on the screen.
Sam felt his eyes water up when he heard the loud heartbeats coming from the machine.
"Very strong heartbeats." He moved the probe around before he looked at the couple, "Do you want to the sex today or..?"
"Yes." Sam and Mercedes said at the same time excitedly.
Dr. Kline chuckled at their eagerness but he nodded away as he moved the probe to the right side of her stomach, looking up at the screen, he got a clear picture of what he needed to see, "This is baby A and it's a boy."
"A boy." Sam whispered quietly, his green eyes trained on the screen as he hand still was connected to Mercedes's.
Mercedes felt tears clouding her vision as Dr. Kline announced that their first baby was a boy.
"And baby B is.." He moved the probe over to the left side, zooming in a little, "..a girl."
That was it. Sam's tears officially rushed down his face when he heard that he was having a boy and a girl. He was so, so happy, he couldn't help but cry. Sniffling hard as he looked down at Mercedes, he stood up and pressed his lips against hers.
Mercedes placed her hand on Sam's neck as she kissed him back, her own tears leaking from her eyes.
Dr. Kline smiled at the happy couple. Deciding not the break up the moment, he snapped a couple of pictures and removed his gloves, making sure all the equipment was put up. He told them that he'll be right back and closed the door to give them some privacy.
Sam rose up and left small pecks on her lips. He smiled down at her as he wiped under her eyes, "Happy?"
"So happy." She whispered hoarsely as she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him down for a hug.
He kissed her one last time before he moved over and grabbed some tissue, sniffling a little as he wiped the leftover gel off. He bent down and pressed kisses on her stomach.
Mercedes smiled as Sam kissed her stomach. This was literally one of the best days of her life. She looked over when the doctor came back in handing them the pictures and the next appointment card. She thanked him when he congratulated them and said he would see them in three weeks. Mercedes got off the bed and with Sam's help, she got her clothes on quicker. Grabbing his hand, she wiped her face with her free hand as they walked back out to the lobby. Seeing Maverick and Madison made her smile brighten ten times wider.
Madison slid off Maverick's lap when she saw them, going to Mercedes, she wrapped her arms around her.
Mercedes smiled as she hugged the little girl back the best she could.
"So.." Maverick said as he stood up from his seat with a excited look on his face, "What are we having?"
"Well..." Sam started as he looked down at Mercedes smirking, "We are having a boy.."
"And a girl." Mercedes finished his statement with a smile, jumping a little when Madison let out a piercing squeal, she giggled at her baby girl.
"I told you Maverick." Madison said happily as she bounced on her toes.
"God this is so exciting." Maverick said as he hugged his mom tightly.
Mercedes nodded as she cried softly into his shoulder, wrapping her arms around him the best she could.
Sam picked up Madison with a smile, kissing her cheek as he looked at the mother and son embrace before him.
Madison laid her head down on her daddy's shoulder, letting a content smile take over her features, whispering to Sam, "This is really our family daddy."
Sam looked over at her with a smile, before turning back to mother and son, "Yes baby girl..this is our family." He gathered them up after a moment and led them to the car to go home. That night, the family Skype both of their families with the news and as expected, they were really happy.
Saturday came rather quickly for the family. Of course the household was still very buzzing about the sex of the babies. But today, their focus was on little Madi and her first softball game.
Madison sat on the hood of the car while Mercedes was braiding her hair to the back. She let out a smile when she saw her grandparents, "Papa..Granny."
"My sweet love." Mary said as she approached the car, hugging her granddaughter.
Dwight got into the hug as well, kissing her forehead lightly, "You ready pumpkin?"
Madison nodded slowly, "Yeah, I'm a little nervous but I'm ready."
"You'll be fine." Mary reassured her with a smile, looking over at Mercedes, she hugged her, "How are you?"
"I'm doing good Ms. Mary." Mercedes smiled brightly at them.
"You look absolutely beautiful." Dwight smiled at his future daughter-in-law.
Mercedes blushed at his words, before she could say thank you, Sam's booming voice came from behind her.
"You trying to make a move on my girl old man?" Sam smirked at his dad, pulling Mercedes close.
Dwight chuckled at his son, "No I'm not Sam, I have my own girl to do that with."
Mary shook her head at her men, "I can't with you two.." She turned to Mercedes with a laugh, "We're going to go grab some seats."
"See y'all there." Sam told his parents before he turned back to Mercedes and Madison, looking at his daughter as Mercedes placed her hat on her head, "You ready baby girl?"
"Yes." She smiled at him, looking over his shoulder, she saw Maverick and Levi coming up to them, "Hey Maverick and Levi."
Maverick smiled when he saw Madison, walking up, he picked the little girl up and hugged her, "Hey short stuff..you ready for this?"
She nodded with a smile as he sat her back down on the car.
Mercedes wrapped her arm around Sam's waist, leaning into his embrace as she looked on. Smiling when Levi greeted her and Sam. She looked up at her fiancé and gave him a knowing look.
Sam didn't dare look down at Mercedes because he knew she was giving him that look. Instead, he pulled her closer to him, letting one hand lazily rest on her hip.
"Good." Maverick looked at her in the eyes, "Remember Madi, you go out there and have fun. If you make a mistake, oh well. Everyone makes mistakes. Mistakes makes you better." He leaned in and kissed her forehead, "Good luck."
Madison hugged him, "Thank you."
Sam smiled as he watched them, looking over to see Madison's coach calling for her, "It's time sweetie."
Madison nodded as she slid of the hood of the car, going over to hug Sam and Mercedes, pressing a kiss against Mercedes's stomach before she trotted off to the field.
Sam grabbed Mercedes's hand and led them to the stands, deciding to sit on the second row so she wouldn't have to climb that far. He handed her a bottle of water from his bag and sat back as he watched the little kids take the field.
Mercedes sipped from the water bottle as she watched the game. She couldn't help but aww at the little girls, "They are so cute."
Sam laugh with a nod, "Very cute." He looked over when he heard someone call his name, waving when he saw his brother and sister heading to sit at the top.
Mercedes clapped when she saw Madi going up to bat, "Lets go Madison." She yelled out happily with a smile.
Madison bit down on her lip as she walked up to the plate. All she had to do was remember to have fun and not worry about messing up. Holding the bat in her hand, she got herself ready. She never got a chance to hit because the soft ball was thrown low and hit her hip three times.
"Oh come on. She got hit three times, that's automatically means she can walk to first base." Maverick yelled out angrily to the umpire when he saw Madison going back to the dug out.
"Baby.." Mercedes put a calming hand on his shoulder, she tucked her lips in to hold in her laughter.
"Obviously this person knows nothing about the rules of the game." Sam yelled as well.
"Oh my god." Mercedes whispered, shaking her head. She felt her face heat up when people started looking at them.
Madison chuckled when she heard her dad and Maverick. Most kids would be embarrassed but she wasn't. She sat back on the bench and waited for her turn again. Next time, she would be less nervous and ready to hit that ball out of the park.
This was the last play of the game. Madison's team was up by one point and all the bases were filled. It was now up to Madison to hit the ball. She went up to the base and waited for the ball to be thrown and when it did, she said a little prayer before she hit it hard. Seeing it go all the way over the fence as she ran made her so happy.
Sam jumped from his seat yelling and clapping, "THAT'S MY BABY!"
Mercedes laughed happily as she clapped loudly for Madison when she made it to the home plate. She was so proud of her. She watched as her teammates hugged her tightly and that made her heart swell up.
Sam helped Mercedes's out of her seat and led the out the stands. He was buzzing with excitement that his little girl won her first game.
Madison smiled as she hugged her teammates, seeing her parents, she sprinted over to them, "I did it."
Sam picked her up and kissed her cheek, "I told you.."
"I'm so proud of you baby girl." Mercedes said as she hugged her.
"Thank you mama." Madison leaned in and left a small kiss on her lips.
"Alright..I say we celebrate." Sam said as he looked at the other parents, "Pizza is on me tonight."
"Yay." The little girl cheered before the went to their parents.
Mercedes giggled as she grabbed her purse, "I'm going to head to the car while you help Madi with her bag." She turned and walked to the car.
After getting all of Madi things, Sam placed them in the truck and got into the driver's seat. About twenty minutes later, they had arrived at the pizza place, where he ordered a total of twelve pizzas.
"This is our future." Mercedes said as she sat beside him, looking at all the kids and adults chattering and eating, "We have Madi and we're going to have two more kids, who most likely will play sports, and we will have to be at things like this."
"I'm ready for it." Sam said as he looked down at her with a smirk, "It's going to be wild."
Mercedes laughed and nodded, "Oh yeah." She looked up and found Sam staring at her, "What?"
Sam moved her hair from out of her face, leaning down to capture her lips with his.
Mercedes caressed his cheek with her hand, kissing him back lovingly.
"Get a room you two." Stevie called out from the other end of the table with a smirk.
Sam groaned as he pulled back, sending his little brother a glare.
Mercedes bit down on her lip as she stared at Sam. This was not the time for her to be thinking about sex but she couldn't help it. Her hormones were out of whack. Coming out of her lustful gaze, she felt someone come beside her and smiled when she saw Madi, "Hey baby girl."
Madison smiled as she pulled a chair beside Mercedes, placing her small hands on her stomach, "I can't wait to meet you guys." She whispered quietly as she rubbed around in a circular motion, eyes going wide when she felt a kick, "Awesome."
Sam smiled down at his daughter before he looked back at Mercedes. He couldn't wait for them to be born either.
A/N. Ahh so many feels! The Jones-Evans family is getting a boy and a girl. How exciting?! Madison's first game was amazing and smh at Sam and Maverick lol. Anyways, the next chapter will be the baby shower and bonding time between Maverick and Mercedes before he leaves for a month. :)
