Sam looked through the window with tears in his eyes. There, through the clear glass were their beautiful babies, Spencer and Savannah. After Mercedes water broke last night, the couple was legit scared because their babies weren't due for another month. When they came in the hospital, Dr. Kline was already there ready to check on Mercedes. She was already five centimeters dilated and that explained the pain that she was enduring all yesterday. Sam and Mercedes were a little confused on how she was in labor the whole time and her water didn't break until that night. Dr. Kline explained that in some pregnancies, women do go through labor and do not know it at all and Mercedes was one of the ones who did. Sam smiled as he turned and walked back towards her room. The night was long and tiring but worth it. Him and Mercedes were both thankful that she didn't have to have a C-Section but did deliver their babies naturally. Spencer came first, weighing in at eight pounds, 6 ounces and twenty one inches. Savannah came in a little lighter than her brother, weighing seven pounds, seven ounces and twenty inches. Sam pushed the door open to her room quietly and found Mercedes sitting up with a sleeping Madison cuddled into her side, "Hey.."
Mercedes was rubbing Madison's head with her IV hooked hand when she heard Sam's voice. Looking over at him, she let a smile take over her tired face, "Hey baby.."
"How are you feeling?" He asked as he came closer to her, placing a small kiss on her lips.
Mercedes grinned as she kissed him, pulling back with an audible pop, "Tired and sore." She said quietly as she watched he pull a chair beside the bed and grabbed her hand.
Sam brought her hand to his lips and kissed it, his eyes never leaving hers, "I'm so proud of you."
Mercedes smiled as she felt a tear slide down her face, "Thank you."
"No thank you. You seriously made me the happiest man on earth last night. All the pain you went through just to deliver our beautiful babies meant everything to me. So again, thank you.." Sam said as he felt himself get emotional.
Mercedes squeezed his hand as she looked at him, her eyes glazed over with tears, "I love you."
"I love you more baby." He breathed out before he looked behind him when he heard a knock on the door. When it opened, he chuckled when he saw Mike, Tina, Artie, Puck, Beth and Tessa come in with a bunch of flowers and balloons.
"We came as soon as we got the text." Artie said with a smile as he rolled his way in.
"Congrats you guys." Tina smiled brightly at the couple, holding Mike's hand.
"Thank you." Mercedes said sweetly as she placed her hand on Madison's back, watching as they sat the flower vases on the counter.
"I want to see them, where are they?" Beth whined as she bounced on her toes impatiently.
Sam laughed quietly as he let go of Mercedes's hand and stood up, "They're still getting checked up but I can take y'all to see them."
Everyone filed out the room quickly except for Puck, who walked over to left side of Mercedes's bed and smiled at her, "Quinn told me to tell you she is so sorry she couldn't be here for you. She also said she was going to be on the plane first thing tomorrow morning."
Mercedes chuckled lowly, looking over at her friend, "She texted me ten times apologizing, I told her it was okay."
"You know how she is when it comes to you." Puck smiled as he leaned down and kissed her cheek, "I'm going to go see the twins. Do you need anything?"
"I'm fine, thank you." She said quietly as she watch him nod his head and walk out. She looked down and smiled when she saw Madison still sleeping, laying her head on top of hers, she drifted off into a peaceful slumber.
Hours later, the rest of Sam and Mercedes's family came to the hospital to see the babies and to relieve Sam and Madison to go home to shower and eat. After their families left, the only ones left in the big hospital room were Madison, Maverick, Sam and of course Mercedes.
Mercedes giggled as she put her hair into a ponytail, looking over at the white board, where her nurse's name was, "How ironic is it that Santana ended up being my nurse for tonight?"
Sam shook his head with a laugh as he sat on the arm of the couch, "You know she probably threaten whoever it was that had you first to hand you over."
"That's just like something Aunt Santana would do." Maverick said shaking his head in amusement.
"What's like something that I would do?" Santana asked as she came in the room with a chart in her hand, pulling a pen from the pocket of her red scrubs.
"Not letting another nurse take care of mommy." Madison giggled at her aunt when she nodded.
"You damn right. You deserve the best when you come in here and I am the best." Santana smirked as she walked over to the bed to take Mercedes's breathing and blood pressure. Smiling at her friend when she was finish, she removed the cup from her arm and sat in back in the rack, wrapping her stethoscope around her neck, "Everything looks good. Dr. Kline and I will be back in twenty minutes to check on you and the crumbs."
"Thank you Santana." She smiled as she walked out. Her smile brighten when she saw the neonatal nurses bringing in the babies.
"Alright mommy, we're giving you the boy and daddy is getting the girl." Nurse Kate smiled brightly as she handed Spencer to Mercedes.
Mercedes sat up when she held her son in her arms, chuckling softly when she saw his little face scrunched up, "Someone doesn't like being woken up."
Maverick got off the couch and went to stand by his mother, looking down at his little brother, he grinned widely, "He's so cute."
The twins were similar and different in a lot of ways. Spencer and Savannah were two shades darker than Sam. They both had Mercedes's big brown doe eyes, Sam's nose and a perfect mixture of their parents lips. Spencer had straight black hair while his sister had the same just with a little curl to it.
Sam looked down at his daughter when the nurse handed her to him. He watched as she stared back him, letting out a small yawn. His eyes started to water not only because he held their tiny human in his arms but also at the fact that seven years ago, he was robbed of this. He didn't even get to hold Madison when she was born and that hurt him. He didn't realize how much it hurt until now.
"Baby it's okay.." Mercedes said quietly as she looked at him, knowing exactly what he was thinking about. No, it wasn't okay that it happened..it was far from okay. She hated that he didn't get to hold Madison..she hated it.
Madison smiled when she saw her brother and sister come in. She was so excited that they were finally here. She couldn't wait to help out her mama and daddy. Sitting back on the couch, she looked at her father with bright, innocent eyes, oblivious to his sadness, "Can I hold her?"
Sam looked at his eldest daughter with a smile, blinking back his tears as he nodded, "Yeah.." He bent down and handed Savannah off to his daughter, making sure she was holding her head before he stood back, wiping his eyes as move towards the door to walk out.
"Sam don't you go out that door." Mercedes said in a stern voice, looking over at Maverick, "Hold your brother for me."
Maverick nodded as gently grabbed Spencer out of her arms, he smiled when he saw the little boy staring at him, "Hey there.." He rubbed his cheek as he moved back over to the couch, carefully sitting down next to Madison.
Sam stopped when he heard Mercedes's voice, sniffling softly, he turned around to her with anger and hurt evident in his eyes.
Mercedes gestured for him to come to her and when he did, she took his hand and pulled him to her, wrapping her arms around him, giving him a hug. She pressed a small kiss on the side of his head and rubbed his back.
Sam sighed as he hugged her, burying his face into her shoulder, "I'm sorry I just..I just remembered."
"I'm sorry it happened to you baby." She whispered to him so that the kids wouldn't hear, "It's fuck up, it really is but look on the bright side, she's here with us now and she's not going anywhere. Nicole will NEVER get a chance to strip her away you again, I can guarantee that."
Sam nodded as he leaned up and pressed a kiss against her lips, "Thank you."
"Don't thank me baby.." She as she rubbed his cheek, looking over to the couch, she smiled at the scene before, "Them over there..they're all ours."
Sam looked over to them with a smile, wrapping an arm around Mercedes, "Our children.." He said lowly as he sat in the bed with a content smile on his face. Their family was complete now and nothing nor no one was going to break that.
Mercedes and the twins were released from the hospital two days after she had them. The first couple of nights were surprisingly easy but that didn't mean they didn't get any sleep. Savannah was a little fussier than her brother and constantly wanted more attention from her parents, to where Spencer was the opposite. He was on the quiet side but he still fussed on and off. Mercedes ran her hands through her hair as she leaned against the counter, waiting for the bottles to warm up in the warmer. Looking over at her babies, who were placed on the kitchen counter in their loungers, she couldn't help but let a smile take over her features. She was so blessed in her life right now. She had four beautiful kids and a wonderful fiancé who she couldn't wait to be married to. What more could a woman ask for?
A/N. First off, thank you for the continuous support, I appreciate it so much. There will be a time jump next update, 8 months to be exact. I know you wanted to see the twins while they were still tiny but this is apart of how this story goes. All unanswered questions from the last two chapters will be answered in the next update. After the next two chapters, there will be another major time jump. Only a couple more chapters left before TLOL comes to a beautiful ending. It has been so much fun writing this story & it's by far my favorite one I have written! Back to the beginning, Samcedes little family is adorable, I think that comment alone summarizes the update perfectly. Alright, see ya soon. :)
