Sam grunted as he rolled over in the bed, reaching for his wife, only to find it her spot empty. He frowned as he lifted his head up, opening his sleepy eyes to see that she wasn't there. Yawning loudly, he moved the covers from off of him and got out the bed, "Mercedes?" He called out but didn't receive an answer. He walked out the room, down the hallway and stairs. He smiled when he smelt the aroma of the food coming from the kitchen. Coming fully down the stairs, he made his way to the hallway and stood in the doorframe and watched her.
Mercedes moved her hair back, pulling a bottle of water and the juice out. She had decided to make Sam breakfast so she got up early. She was happy that they were back to being themselves minus the fighting. Hearing someone come in, she turned her head and gave him a smile, "Good morning."
"Morning." Sam pushed off the door and went to her with a smile, kissing her on her lips softy, "What you making?"
"I made you an I'm sorry breakfast."
"Really?" He chuckled as he looked at everything, his stomach starting to make a little noise.
"Yeah and I have all your favorites." She twisted the cap off of her water and looked at him, "I just want to apologize for the last couple of days."
"I'm the one who should be apologizing." He looked at her, giving her a faint smile, "I guess I let my overprotectiveness get in the way of seeing the reason why you wanted to do it."
"And I understood that, I just let my stubbornness get the best of me." She sent him a small smile before giving him a kiss, "I love you."
Sam smiled against her lips as he pulled her in for a big hug, "I love you so much more."
Mercedes wrapped her arms around him and laid her head down on his chest, "I'm sorry again."
"It's okay." He kissed the top of her head, rubbing his hand up and down her back, rocking them side to side. For a minute he just held her, loving the feeling of having her in his arms after the last couple of days of not being able to.
"Your breakfast is getting cold." She whispered as she looked up at him, patting his cheek.
Sam sighed as he leaned down to kiss her before letting go. As much as he didn't want to, he didn't want to let go, his food to get cold, the food that she woke up so early to prepare for him. He fixed them both a plate and walked over to the living room, Mercedes following behind him with their juice, "So this disc.."
Mercedes took a sip of her juice before sitting it on the table, looking over at him when he spoke and handed her a plate, "Let's just say..things were put in perspective. In no way am I excusing what she did but in my heart I do forgive her. What she did could've been prevented but it just didn't happen. I think you should watch it when you're ready, you and Madi both."
Sam stuffed his cheesy eggs in his mouth, listening to what she was saying. In all honesty, he didn't want to watch what the woman had to say, he didn't care at all but he would do it because his wife was asking him to. Madison on the other hand..he would let her make that decision for herself, "Fine."
Mercedes gave him a small smile, leaning over to kiss his cheek. She knew he really didn't want to do it and he was only doing it for her but she would take it. Hearing the front door open, she knew that it was Maverick with the kids because he had text her this morning and ask was it safe for them to come back.
Sam looked up when he heard the quite chatter and feet moving along the hardwood floor, he smiled when he saw all of them standing at the threshold, "Hey guys." They all gave strained smiles, not knowing if everything was okay or not and not wanting to move from their spots just yet.
"Everything's okay." Mercedes said softly as she looked at them, watching as they all took a breath of relief and came into the living room. Mckenzie and Savannah went straight to hug their dad while Spencer came to her. She wrapped her arms around him and gave him a kiss on his forehead.
"So you're not getting a divorce?" Savannah asked quietly as she looked between her parents.
Sam kissed her cheek before rubbing her back, "No sweetheart, mommy and I are fine and we without a doubt still love each other very much."
"Yes we do." Mercedes agreed as she looked at all of them, including Madison, who was still at the door holding Brayden with Maverick by her side, "I just want to apologize to all of you. I never wanted anyone of you to hurt because of my actions."
"Our actions." Sam corrected as he looked at them, "I'm sorry as well. We love you guys so much and we never want to see you upset because of something we are going through."
"I love every single one of you." Mercedes said with tearful eyes, sniffling a bit as she looked at Sam, "And I love you."
Sam smiled as titled his head a bit to look at her, "I love you too."
"Damn." Maverick muttered as he wiped his own eyes, looking at Madison, who was doing the same thing.
"I love you mommy, daddy, Savy, Spence, Maddy, Mavvy and Bray." Mckenzie said with a wide grin as she leaned over and hugged her sister.
"I love you too Kenz." Savannah said with a smile as she hugged her back, looking at everyone, "I love you everyone in this room too."
"I love y'all as well." Spencer said with a smile as he gave his mother a big hug.
Madison smiled as she bounced Brayden, who was looking at everyone curiously, "I love you all."
Maverick finally got himself together, sniffling as he looked at them, "I love you, always and forever."
"Always and forever." Sam and Mercedes repeated at the same time, smiling at each other. They looked over at Brayden when he started babbling loudly and clapping.
"I guess he's trying to say it too." Mercedes chuckled along with everyone else. She was happy that she could have this moment with her kids and let them know that everything was going to be alright, "Alright, go in the kitchen and eat."
"Hey, who said I was sharing my breakfast with them?" Sam playfully asked, hearing a shocked gasp from McKenzie.
"Daddy, that's not nice. You said that sharing is caring."
"I was just playing Kenz." He chuckled at the serious look on her face, shaking his head. One thing he knew for sure about her is that she always listened. Kissing her cheek, he sat her to floor, "Go eat."
McKenzie smiled as she gave him a hug before skipping over into the kitchen.
Madison walked over and handed Brayden to her dad, giving him a hug before following behind her sister.
Mercedes turned to the side to look at her son, "Thank you for everything Maverick."
Maverick nodded as he walked over and took a seat beside her on the couch, "I just hated how you two were fighting. I know no marriage is perfect, but it was just weird seeing two people who were madly in love be at odds."
Sam sighed as he sat back with Brayden, watching him play with his necklace, "Trust me, I hated every moment of it but I also learned a lot from us being apart."
"You did?"
"I realized that I would be devastated if I ever lost you in any way. I love you so much Mercedes." He reached over and grabbed her hand, squeezing it, "I learned that as your husband, it's some things that I have to learn and accept and understand that you know what's best for you and that as much as I want to, I can't protect you from everything. And in this particular situation, I should've listened and understood why, instead of flying off the handle like I did. I'm just an overprotective papa bear when it comes to my family."
Mercedes smiled as she wiped her tears that had fallen throughout the time he was talking. She knew how Sam was and when they had this fight, she thought about how she could've taken his feelings in consideration more but at the time she was just angry that he was not listening, "And I learned that I need to accept your overprotectiveness because you're only trying to look out for me."
"This is great, I feel like a marriage counselor that gave you a relationship homework assignment."
"Bye Maverick." Mercedes said with a laugh, gesturing for him to go into the kitchen but not before giving him a kiss on the cheek and a hug, thanking him once again.
Maverick smiled as he stood up, walking away to the kitchen. He felt proud that his parents were back to their normal selves and he was glad that he could help with that.
Sam leaned over and gave her a small kiss to her lips, moving her hair behind her ear, "I love you so much, never forget that my love."
"I will never forget it." She said as she ran her hands across his cheek, pecking his lips lightly with a smile, "I love you."
Sam smiled as he kissed her again before pulling back, looking down at their son, who was just babbling on and on, playing with Sam's phone.
Mercedes giggled at him, shaking her head. Hearing the laughter back in the kitchen made her heart swell. She was happy that everything was back to the way it was before their fight. She loved her family and she would do anything to protect them and so would Sam.
