AUTHOR'S NOTE: Can you believe that I'm already updating and it's not been months?

I'm glad to see that people enjoyed the last part as much as they did. I figured honeymoon smut made up for not showing the wedding night. Thanks to my tumblr wifey Alyssa (idiot-wind89) for her help with ideas for it. She always a great one to talk smut with.

Since I posted the last part, I received two guest reviews that I wanted to address here since I can't reply to them.

Guest #1 made a comment that she loved the story but it was a lot like The Nanny. I will have to take your word for it, I've never seen an episode of the show. But I think it was on for a few years at least so I take that as a compliment.

Guest #2 left at least one, I think two reviews, one that she had read all of my stories and they were all completely different than this one and she couldn't figure out why. And review number two said basically the same thing then implied that this story was not my own work by asking if I had even written this. Yes, I wrote this story, as I did all the other ones posted on my author's page. If I was doing what you implied and stealing this story from another person, don't you think I would update it more and not been writing on it for almost 2 years of my life?

Thanks to klarolineepiclove, hybridlovelies, jomosfamilyjewels and a-little-blonde-distraction for their help betaing this.

Note: This part is formulated a little differently then those of the past. There are several scenes spanning many months in this one part, it was the only way I could show everything I wanted without having a bunch of tiny little epilogues.

I really hope you guys like this part, I'm very nervous to see what people's reactions will be.

Epilogue 2

Two Years Later

"Caroline?" Klaus called as he walked into the master bedroom looking for the elusive blonde.

"I'm in here." He heard his wife call out to him from their closet. When she didn't come out, he walked over to the doorway and went inside, surprised to see her still only dressed in her robe.

"What are you doing love? I thought you said you only had to slip into your pants suit and you would be ready." He asked. The four of them were due to meet with the rest of the family for the christening of Rebekah and Stefan's son Zachary. If they didn't leave soon they would be late; something that she hated with a passion. Caroline had showered before him, banning him from joining her, so that she could get her hair and makeup done before she got to work on getting the twins ready. They might be almost twelve now, but they were still difficult to get moving at times, especially Henry if dressing up was part of it.

"That was when I thought I could just slip it on." Caroline replied, frustration thick in her voice as she waved the pants and jacket around. "I don't know about the jacket but the pants are too snug."

Klaus frowned. "I don't understand, did you not try them on before you bought them?"

Caroline glared at him, giving him a look that asked, 'Do I look that stupid?' "Yes, I tried them on, how do you think I knew they were too long and took them to be tailored?"

"Perhaps the tailor took them in?" He suggested but Caroline shook her head.

"No, I tried them on when I picked them up, they fit perfectly." Caroline explained. "And they've been hanging in my closet for almost two months so they couldn't have shrunk. The problem is me."

"What do you mean?" Klaus asked.

"They aren't the only pants that don't fit. Several pairs of my jeans don't fit and I need to admit what's wrong. I have put on weight," She stated, tears coming to her eyes as she did. "I haven't been able to get my mileage in on my runs for weeks."

Thinking of how best to navigate the uncertain waters of his wife's emotions at the moment, not wanting to make the wrong move, Klaus decided to try to say something neutral and safe. "You will, you never let anything stop you from your runs."

"I'm just so tired, ever since I got the flu three months ago, I just can't seem to bounce back." Caroline complained. It was the oddest thing especially considering that the actual flu hadn't been that bad; just a week of throwing up almost everything she ate and being exhausted. She never even developed a fever, Henry had had it far worse than she did but he was fine now while she still felt exhausted all of the time not to mention hungry, which was how she had figured she'd picked up the weight.

"Sweetheart, I know you are upset, but we need to be leaving soon." Klaus reminded her.

Caroline sighed heavily, knowing he was right. "Fine, let me see if I have a dress I can still squeeze into."

Klaus waited until she disappeared back into their closet to shake his head in bafflement. He knew she was upset but she was being a bit too sensitive about the issue. He had noticed a few changes in her curves but it hadn't made a difference to him. He still thought she was incredibly sexy and beautiful, just like he always would, she was just being down on herself. It surprised him, usually Caroline was a bright cheerful person, however lately her moods seemed to turn on a dime. One minute she was happy, and the next she was sad, or worse angry. Last week he had been ten minutes later than normal arriving home, and she met him at the door with a look on her face that was truly terrifying.

As if lightning struck, a thought suddenly occurred to him what might be wrong with Caroline, or more accurately what could be causing it and he paused suddenly. His mind raced at the possibility, and though he knew they were short on time, he couldn't stop himself. "Caroline?"

"I know I know, I'm hurrying." Caroline replied as she rushed out of the closet, this time fully clothed in beautiful light blue dress. The skirt flared just below her bust, hiding the rest of her body from him but he was sure that if it was fitted more, there would be a sign of a bump.

"It's not that," Klaus stated, hesitating for a moment as he thought of the best way to bring up the subject. "What if there is another reason besides the flu that could be making you tired?"

"Like what?" Caroline asked as she put her hand on his shoulder to keep her balance while putting on her shoes.

"What if well..." Klaus started to suggest, his voice so low it was almost a whisper. "What if you're pregnant?"

Caroline halted in mid motion at his words, glancing up at him. She could see the questioning in his eyes as he studied her for a reaction. "Klaus..."

"I know what you are going to say but just consider it for a moment." Klaus interrupted her. "You've been tired, gaining weight, maybe when you were sick it wasn't the flu but morning sickness."

"If it were true, and I'm not saying it is, then why aren't I still getting it?" Caroline asked. "Morning sickness usually last longer than a week."

"I've been around enough pregnant women to know that pregnancy affects women in different ways, even the same woman in different ways." He stated. "And you've been a bit moody, which could be explained by pregnancy hormones."

"Hey, I have not been moody!" Caroline snapped before she brought her hand to cover her mouth. Her exclamation had just proved his point, but that didn't mean he was right about what was going on with her. Not because she didn't want what he was suggesting to be true but because she didn't want to get their hopes up, but stopped as her mind mentally ticked off the stuff he had listed. She had been unusually tired the last few months, as well as hungry and her emotions had been all over the place but she couldn't dare to hope, could she?

Klaus could see in her eyes as she debated his theory, trying to find something about it to shoot down so he tossed out the one question that might settle it. "When was the last time you had your period?"

"Um, a few months? I'd have to check my calendar to be sure." Caroline replied after she tried to remember. That in itself wasn't really odd, ever since the accident her periods had been anything but regular but now that she thought about it, this was the longest stretch she could remember going without having one. That paired with the other things couldn't be a coincidence and though she was trying to be pessimistic, her heart started beating rapidly as she brought her hands to her stomach. No, she couldn't go down that route. That route just ended in disappointment and heartache. "But that doesn't mean I'm preg….it doesn't mean anything. Especially not in my case, it's just the lingering effects of the flu and the upset to my exercise routine. You'll see."

He couldn't help but sigh at her dismissal of the prospect. He couldn't blame her, he knew that the possibility of her getting pregnant was low but he wasn't going to just relent on the idea either. Things were just a bit too coincidental. "Then you need to go to the doctor."

"The doctor?" Caroline asked. "Seriously?"

"Yes, you can tell the doctor what has been going on and if he agrees with me, then he can give you a test." Klaus explained. "If not, then he can find out what is wrong with you."

"I'm not going to the doctor; it's a waste of time." Caroline objected. "He is just going to tell me it's negative."

"You can't say that for certain, there is a chance." Klaus declared.

"A very slim one." She reminded him.

"Mom! Dad! I thought we were leaving." They heard Henry yell up to them. "If not, can I take off this tie?"

"No!" They both called back, before Klaus continued. "We'll be down in a minute."

Caroline knew that Klaus wasn't going to just forget this discussion so she thought of a solution. "I'll make a compromise; we live in a time where we don't have to go to the doctor to check for pregnancy. I'll get a test soon and that will be the end of it."

"Today, after we leave Bekah and Stefan's." Klaus countered, knowing that unless he persisted, she would put it off for as long as she could.

"Deal." Caroline answered before she started towards the door. "Are you coming? We're going to be late."

Klaus couldn't help but roll his eyes as he followed her, but didn't bring up the little detail of exactly why they were delayed in leaving.

A few hours later, Caroline finished with the test and moved to wash her hands. She had barely turned on the faucet when there was a knock on the bathroom door. "Can I come in?"

"Yes, I'm finished." Caroline answered before sighing. She wasn't surprised that he had already knocked, he had wanted to come in the bathroom with her but she had drawn the line stating she didn't need him to watch her pee on a stick. She had never had the level of intimacy she had with Klaus before, they shared everything but that was pushing it.

As he entered the bathroom, she watched as his eyes searched the room briefly for a moment before landing on the counter where the test lay. "It will still be a few minutes, the instructions say five."

Klaus nodded before his eyes rose to the clock, checking the time. She could tell he was anxious to find out what it said and she had to admit she was too. As much as she'd tried to force herself to not think of the possibility that she was pregnant, the idea that she could be carrying her and Klaus' child had not left her thoughts since he suggested it. She could feel the giddiness at the prospect welling up in her and she tried to push it down as best she could but it wasn't working. And when she glanced at the stick, even though she still had at least two minutes left, and saw the two pink lines, a little more of her wall against it tumbled down. Caroline picked it up, to inspect it closer as if it would change what she saw but it didn't. "I'm pregnant."

As he looked at the bewildered face of his wife as she made the announcement, Klaus couldn't keep the goofy smile off of his face before he pulled her into his arms and hugged her close, placing a kiss on her forehead. Caroline was pregnant, they were going to have another child. Though the chance that they were had been the elephant in the room ever since he had suggested it, it was still overwhelming. And he could feel in the way Caroline's body felt in his arms, she was feeling the same way.

In an effort to relax her, Klaus asked. "I guess this would be a good time to say I told you so?"

Pulling away from him just enough to look him in the eye, Caroline huffed at him. "Enjoy your moment of glory; it's not often that you are right about something. But this time….I'm very glad that you were. I just can't believe this is happening."

Klaus could see in her eyes the whirlwind of emotions she was feeling, including sadly a bit of doubt and fear. "What is it, love? You look as if you don't want to believe it."

"A part of me doesn't." Caroline admitted honestly. How could she when for years she had told herself that this was impossible. Okay maybe not impossible, but very improbable.

"Then that means we need to get you an appointment with the doctor, he can tell us for sure," Klaus stated.

Caroline nodded as her mind went into overdrive. She needed to call the doctor first thing in the morning and see if they could get her in. True it wasn't an emergency but she couldn't live in this state of limbo for too long without going insane. She prayed that her pessimistic attitude was unnecessary.

/

Two days later, Caroline sat in a plain hospital gown on the table in one of the doctor's exam rooms waiting for the doctor to return with the results of her pregnancy test. Klaus sat in a chair next to her, close enough to still hold her hand, squeezing it ever so often in reassurance. She had told him that he didn't have to come, but when he had insisted, Caroline was grateful that he had. She was almost positive that if he hadn't, she probably would have worn a hole on the hem of her gown from nervously playing with it. "What is taking so long? The other test took less than five minutes."

Klaus shrugged. "I'm sure the doctor just wants to be completely confident of their results before they share them."

"I know but…" Caroline's words were cut off by the sound of the door opening, announcing the return of the doctor. Both of them gave him their full attention, waiting to see what news he had.

"We have your test results back," Dr. Maxfield announced before his lips turned into a smile. "Congratulations, you are indeed pregnant."

"I am?" Caroline asked in disbelief, tearing her eyes away from the doctor to look at her husband. As soon as their eyes met, the tears that had welled up her eyes started to fall, unable to hold in the waves of emotion flowing through her. Klaus quickly stood, reaching for her as he cupped her face, his thumbs coming up to wipe away the tears. As he did, she smiled softly at him, which he returned before she whispered. "We are going to have a baby."

"Yes we are, love." Klaus replied, his own voice catching a little as he said it.

"The twins are going to have a baby brother or sister. They are going to go nuts." Caroline said as she leaned forward, resting her forehead against Klaus' as she took a deep breath to try and calm herself. Something that was hard to do considering the walls she had built up were crashing down, leaving joy behind it. She was going to be a mother again, it seemed like a dream to her. She looked away from Klaus and back to Dr. Maxfield who was still standing nearby, giving them a moment. "Thank you, you have no idea what this news means to us."

"Given your medical history, Caroline, I have a fairly good idea, which makes me being able to give you the news that much sweeter." Dr. Maxfield stated. "Now with it confirmed, we need to move ahead with your prenatal care. Given what you told me, I think you could already be past your first trimester. I'm going to do a full exam on you, and once that's completed, we will then do an ultrasound so that we can determine how far along you are."

"Dr. Maxfield, being that far along and this is our the first visit to see you, I haven't…endangered the baby's health have I?" Caroline asked, guilt hitting her like a freight train at the thought that she had inadvertently endangered her baby but the doctor shook his head.

"The baby should be fine. While we recommended that expecting mothers, especially high risk ones like you, get care as early as possible, it is during the later months that it is the most important. Aside from your past injuries, you are a healthy woman and that helps as well," he replied, "Now let's get started with the exam so that we can perform an ultrasound. It will help us get a better idea of any issues that your past injuries might create as well as determine how far along you are. Not to mention, I'm sure you'll feel better once you get to see him or her."

Once they got started, the exam went by quickly. Klaus stayed in the room with Caroline up by her head as the doctor checked her over. He gave her a clean bill of health, before calling in the tech who came in with the ultrasound machine. When they squirted the gel onto Caroline's stomach, she gasped a bit at the chill and the tech smiled. "Sorry about that."

"It's okay, I just wasn't expecting it." Caroline replied.

"I take it this is your first?" The tech asked as she looked between Caroline and Klaus.

Caroline only shook her head. "Our third, we have a set of twins too."

The tech seemed surprised at her answer, but Caroline just smiled over at her husband, who winked in response. Klaus' mind drifted back to when he had done this more than a decade before, and couldn't help but think of how different things were. This child, unlike Henry and Lexi, had a mother who loved them absolutely and would do anything for them from the beginning.

It took a few minutes for the tech to move the wand into the right spot, both Klaus and Caroline staring anxiously at the screen as she did, and then suddenly a whoosh whoosh sound erupted from the speakers.

"Is that the heartbeat?" Caroline asked her eyes wide as she looked at the doctor. "It's so fast."

"That's how the twins' were," Klaus told her. "Except with them it was in stereo."

"Yes, it's perfectly normal." Dr. Maxfield assured as he looked at the readings on the bottom of the screen before the tech maneuvered the wand again and a fuzzy image appeared in the middle of all the black on the screen; the outline that was distinctly that of a small face appeared on the monitor. "There we are."

Tears sprung again into Caroline's eyes, blurring the screen until she wiped them away quickly not wanting to miss anything. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see that Klaus' attention was also solely focused on the screen, taking in everything they could see of their child.

As the couple watched the baby moving around within Caroline, the tech pointed out all of its features; the two hands, the spine, the feet, its cute little nose before asking if they wanted pictures to take home, which they both answered yes to at the same time.

"By the development and measurements of the fetus, you look to be about sixteen weeks along, confirming my thoughts that you were past your first trimester and firmly into your second." The doctor stated.

"What does that mean in relation to Caroline's past injuries?" Klaus asked. "I know that the first three months of the pregnancy are considered the most likely time for something to happen but is there still a danger?"

The doctor nodded his face had a serious expression on it. "Due to damage done by her past injuries, the safest way to deliver the baby will be by Caesarean."

"So I won't have a normal labor?" Caroline asked.

"No you won't be having a vaginal delivery but I assure you, caesareans are very safe. Instead of waking up in the middle of the night and rushing to the hospital, we'll schedule the delivery ahead of time." Dr. Maxfield explained before adding. "Also this is a high risk pregnancy and because of that, I want her on mild bed rest until she gives birth, just as a precaution."

"Bed rest?" Caroline inquired, not at all liking the sound of that. She was an active person, she didn't do well sitting still. Of course if it meant it was better for the baby, she would sit motionless every day until the end of the pregnancy if that's what it took.

"Not complete, at least not at this time." Doctor Maxfield explained. "You can still go about your daily routine, but no activities like heavy lifting, even just heavy grocery bags, no house cleaning or exercising, or anything that puts too much strain on you. I won't restrict cooking or driving, as long as it's not for long periods of time."

As she listened to the doctor list out the things that she could and could not do, she noticed what thing that was absent from the list. Something that was very much a part of her daily life. "What about sex?"

The doctor smiled a little at her bold question before answering. "Sex is fine for now; I actually highly recommend it as a natural remedy for stress relief. Just nothing too strenuous or vigorous on your body."

"Well sweetheart, looks like we will have to put the swing away, I know you will be very disappointed." Klaus chimed in, causing Caroline to blush a bright red before she reached out and smacked him in the chest. She looked back at her doctor but couldn't quite meet his eyes. "He's joking about that, we don't have a swing."

The doctor let out a low chuckle before continuing. "There is only one more thing and then you can get dressed. Would you like to know the sex of your baby?"

Caroline turned to look at Klaus, the question in her eyes and he shrugged. "Whatever you want, I am fine with waiting but I know that you don't like the unknown."

"Are you sure?" She asked and when he nodded, she turned back to the doctor. "Yes, we want to know."

Dr. Maxfield smiled slightly at her before nodding to the tech. She studied the screen for a minute before locking the screen. "It's a …."

As they sat around the table eating dinner, Henry watched his parents closely. Things had been a little weird since his mom had picked them up from school; not bad weird, just…weird. Maybe it was because she hadn't already been at the school, having had to leave early for some appointment. Over the last couple years, ever since his mom had become a teaching assistant at their school, when they were done for the day, they would go down to her classroom and wait for her until they headed home.

But instead of doing that, today they simply went out to the front of the school where she picked them up. She was waiting for them by the car, a huge smile on her face when she had spotted them, which she followed up with big hugs, which was a little out of the ordinary. His mom was always a loving person, his dad made mention of it lots of times, but it seemed like today it was way more than usual. Her good mood continued once they got home, she was all smiles and it reminded him of the girls in Lexi's fairy tales; he was just waiting for his mom to break out into song while moving around the kitchen.

When his father got home, Henry planned on telling him about it, but stopped when he walked into the kitchen and he saw his dad hovering behind his mom as she cooked. That wasn't unordinary, they were always kissing or something. However, this time they were really close and whispering to each other. Whispering that stopped as soon as they noticed that he was in the room with them, instead they quickly turned their attention to him, his dad asking how school was and all the normal stuff they talked about. Even though he knew that something was up, he mentioned it to Lexi but she just said he was imagining it.

"Henry, what's wrong?" His mom asked.

"Nothing," He answered, not looking up from his plate.

"You've barely touched your food, just moved it around your plate." Caroline stated.

"Are you feeling alright son?" His dad inquired. "It's the only time I've seen you turn down food."

"Why are you guys acting so weird?" Henry asked ignoring what his dad asked and instead saying what was on his mind. "Mom's been acting really happy, and you two were all whispery earlier. What's going on?"

At his son's question, Klaus looked over at his wife and gave her a look that told her it was time. They had decided immediately after leaving the doctor's office that they would tell Henry and Lexi that night about the pregnancy. In most circumstances, a couple waited a little while before sharing their news but since Caroline was farther along than most women were when they found out, they saw no point in waiting. They were just waiting for the right time and it seemed to be now. "We should have figured you'd know that something was out of the ordinary."

"Wait you mean he was right?" Lexi asked surprised.

"Hey." Henry exclaimed feeling a bit offended that his sister couldn't believe that he might have been right about something.

"Guys, focus." Klaus called, trying to pull them back to the conversation. Once he had their attention, he started to explain. "You two know that your mom has been very tired lately, and not feeling her best. So today I took her to the doctor."

"Is she okay?" Lexi asked the fear evident in her voice as she looked over at her mom, her eyes scanning her face as if she could see whatever was wrong.

"I'm fine, nothing is wrong. It's the opposite actually." Caroline assured her, throwing a smile at Klaus. She couldn't wait to see what their reaction would be. They had never told the twins about her fertility issues, whenever they had asked if their parents planned to have more kids, they had just said they hadn't been planning on it. They had planned to tell them more when they were older. Now it looks like they didn't have to have that discussion. "We found out that you're going to have a little sister."

At the announcement of the news, Caroline swore both of the twins' mouths dropped open simultaneously as their eyes became as round as half dollars. It made her want to laugh but she held it in, when she saw the shock was wearing off.

As he took in what his mom had told them, Henry said the first thing that popped in his mind. "It's about time!"

"What?" Klaus retorted but Henry seemed to not hear him as he went on, his blue eyes almost glowing with excitement.

"I know you guys said that you probably wouldn't be having any more kids but I was really hoping that you would." Henry said, talking a mile a minute. "We've been waiting forever. Everyone in the family has young kids but us."

Caroline couldn't help but laugh at her son's words. "It's not a competition."

"Aunt Bekah says everything is a competition." Henry retorted.

Klaus could only roll his eyes, imagining those words coming out of his sister's mouth easily. He wondered what she would say when they told her the news, however there was another blonde who was currently grabbing his attention. "Lexi, honey you haven't said anything. I would think you'd be talking just as much as Henry, you always said you wanted a little brother or sister."

"I know." Lexi sighed.

Caroline leaned forward and brushed a stray piece of hair out of her face before asking, "Then what's wrong?"

"If…when you have the baby, I'm just..." Lexi tried to explain.

Understanding what was worrying her, Caroline cupped her cheek so that she could look at her face to face. "Sweetie, you're worried that with the baby, we won't love you the same way don't you?"

Lexi didn't say anything only nodded before Caroline spoke again. "Lexi, listen. I know how you feel, I felt the same way when my dad met Stephen and I found out that he had a daughter. I thought that I would lose my dad that he had another daughter and they would be a happy family but I was wrong. My dad didn't stop loving me, not one bit; he just made room in his heart for another person. That's exactly what we are going to do."

"So even though she was born from you." Lexi started but Caroline cut her off. "Doesn't make her any more my daughter than you."

Caroline's words finally seem to assure the young girl, her worried expression turning to a much happier one as she stood up to hug her mother. Caroline looked over her shoulder towards her husband, who winked at her. When Lexi pulled back, her hands moved around Caroline's back to her stomach. "When will she be big enough for us to feel her kick?"

"It won't be long; your mom will feel her before we will be able to." Klaus answered. "Would you guys like to see some pictures of her?"

Both the twins nodded excitedly so Klaus rose from the table to retrieve the ultrasound shots they had brought home earlier. He listened with half an ear as Lexi started asking Caroline when they could go shopping to start buying baby stuff while Henry was asking about how they could have pictures of the baby if she was inside his wife's stomach. He would have to make sure to talk to them about how Caroline was going to have to rest a lot more now until it was time to deliver. Just like the twins, Klaus would do anything to keep his new daughter safe as well as her mother. Nothing would happen to his family

/

"So the cleaners are finally gone?" Bonnie asked.

"Yep, left yesterday. Now every carpet in the house and the furniture has been hygienically cleaned." Caroline replied as she surveyed the bottles in front of her carefully, debating each one before finally picking the bright pink one. She shook the bottle for a moment before unscrewing it and getting on with the task of painting her toenails. She was able to pull her right foot up in front of her by bending her leg at the knee but she wasn't able to with her left. Not with her large nine month pregnant stomach sticking out in front of her but she was determined to find a way to do that foot as well.

Bonnie snorted. "Oh I don't doubt that, I'm sure you inspected every inch."

"Actually, I didn't know they were done until Klaus told me, he said he didn't want me out of bed…and you're making fun of me aren't you?" She retorted, catching the teasing tone a minute later than she normally would, which of course she blamed on her pregnancy brain.

"I would never make fun of you Care," Bonnie replied obviously lying, Caroline could hear the smile in her voice.

"Yeah, yeah, make fun of the pregnant lady, you and everyone else." Caroline grumbled. She knew that none of them did it out of meanness, but hormones and a bit of cabin fever was making her very testy lately. She focused on moving her left foot around up and to the side of her as she tried not to be too snappy. This probably hadn't been the best idea to try and do on her own. The position she was in was causing her already hurting back to ache a bit more. Thankfully, it just came and went instead of a steady pain.

"Oh I doubt your husband makes fun of you, if he does he's not as smart as I thought he was."

The mention of Klaus made Caroline smile, making her think of how attentive he had been the last few months, not that she had ever felt neglected. But he had done everything he could to make everything easier on her. "No, he hasn't. He's been great, even though he's been a bit bossy lately, making me take extra breaks and stuff. This nesting thing is hard when you can't actually do most of the things you need to do to nest like shopping for baby stuff, painting the nursery, putting the crib together. Okay maybe I wouldn't have been doing those last two things regardless but there's other stuff."

"Like having the whole house cleaned so it's more sanitary than a hospital?" Bonnie asked.

"Hey, I wanted to make sure that she has clean carpets when she starts crawl." Caroline argued thinking her logic was perfectly sound. She had thought about it two weeks ago and mentioned it to Klaus. He was a bit hesitant, but it wasn't long before she had been on her laptop finding a company that could do it as soon as possible. They were running out of time after all and she still felt like there was more she should be doing even if all of the things had been checked off of the multiple lists she had made.

"That is the control freak in you, handing over the reins to someone else can't be easy on you."

Thinking of how difficult it had been over the past several months to do what Bonnie said, essentially handing over running the

house like she'd been doing for over three years, Caroline sighed. "No, it's not. I've never been one to sit still for long. I'm just glad that I'm still able to get up and cook or I'd be going completely bonkers. And I think the twins would probably mutiny."

"Yeah, they weren't very happy the few times that Kol and I came over and cooked." Bonnie commented, "Henry kind of poked it with his fork before asking if it was dead or not."

Caroline couldn't help but laugh as she remembered the occasion that Bonnie was talking about. It had been a month or so after they'd found out she was pregnant and Klaus had wanted to take her out for dinner, Kol and Bonnie babysitting for them. "If it wasn't for the fact that I know you have some culinary skills I would think all you guys did was order out."

Bonnie snorted on the other end of the line. "Yeah, well I didn't marry him for his cooking skills."

"Marry?!" Caroline shrieked, her head snapping up and away from what she had been doing. She felt the polish smear against her toes, making a huge mess. "Shit!"

"What? What's wrong?" Bonnie asked on the other end.

As she untwisted her leg from behind her, she answered. "I just messed up my toenails."

"Why are you painting your toenails? Actually how are you painting your toenails?" Bonnie questioned as she tried to figure out the linguistics of how her very pregnant friend would be able to get to her feet.

"No missy, we are not focusing on me and my toes. We are focusing on the bomb you just dropped. What do you mean you didn't marry him for his cooking skills? Last time I checked you weren't married at all." Caroline declared. When all she was met with was silence on the other line, she went on. "Bonnie Bennett, what did you do? If you don't spill I will march myself right over to your apartment and we both know what kind of mood I'll be in if I have to do that."

"Um…Kol and I got married." Bonnie finally said. "Surprise."

"Surprise? Surprise? Surprise is when you plan a birthday party for someone who doesn't know, or send them flowers, it's not announcing that you got married!" Caroline exclaimed just as the partially opened door swung open and Klaus came charging through, obviously reacting to hearing her screaming.

As he entered the room, he quickly scanned his wife to make sure she was okay. She seemed to be, though her face was pink and her eyes looked a little wild. Klaus asked. "What is all the screaming about?"

"Your brother and my best friend are married." Caroline yelled her voice cracking as she did.

"What?" Klaus' face quickly turned to one of confusion. What the bloody hell was going on? He was about to ask when Caroline turned her phone to speaker and Bonnie's voice could be heard through the speaker.

"Caroline, calm down. It just kind of happened. We were just talking about how all of his siblings are married and having babies, whereas we've just been living together for a while. No commitment or anything to stop one of us leaving any time we wanted and suddenly he said 'Let's get married.' I thought he was joking at first but he was dead serious, and the next thing I know, I said yes." Bonnie explained.

"So why didn't you tell us?" Caroline asked, feeling hurt. "Why did you keep it a secret?"

"We weren't keeping it a secret, we just didn't tell anyone." Her friend explained. "We didn't want the big wedding, it's just not us. So we got married at City Hall, in front of a judge and we were going to announce it next week after you had the baby. We didn't want to over excite you."

"Well that worked out well." Caroline said sarcastically but her words lacked bite due to being overcome by a sudden spasm in her back.

The moment he saw her wince and clutch her back, Klaus was by her side. "Love, what's wrong?"

"It's nothing. Just some back pain, it'll go away. I've been having it for a couple of hours." She explained dismissively. "My back has been hurting for months."

Klaus could see that Caroline was brushing off what she was feeling but all he cared about was the part where she said it'd been happening for a few hours. "Sweetheart, listen to me. You said you've been having them for a few hours. Have they been increasing in frequency?"

"Um, yeah I guess." Caroline replied before it sunk in what he was asking and she felt fear grip her heart. "Oh no."

"What's going on?" They could hear Bonnie ask from the forgotten phone but Klaus' focus was on his wife. "I think we should call the doctor."

Caroline nodded quickly, trying to keep herself calm though not successfully. Instead her mind thought over when she had had the sharpest pains, had her stomach tightened like she had read about? Had she been in labor and not known about it? She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't even know that Klaus had finished his call until he touched her arm. "What did he say?"

"Dr. Maxfield said we need to get you to the hospital quickly." Klaus stated. "He said it could be false labor but he doesn't want to risk being wrong."

"Klaus, she can't be coming now." Caroline whispered. "The doctor said it wasn't safe for her to be delivered like normal."

"Which is why we are going to get the two of you to the hospital as soon as we can, they can stop labor Caroline, if not they will get her out quickly." Klaus declared before he pulled her close one hand on her stomach, the other cupping the back of her head as he kissed her forehead. "Nothing is going to happen to her."

Caroline nodded her head, taking a deep breath and tried to focus on what she needed to do to get to the hospital as quick as they could. "My bag is in the closet. Lexi helped me pack it last night."

"Good timing." Klaus replied as he went to retrieve it, grabbing his own bag that he had kept ready to go. "Bonnie is telling Kol what is going on of course, and she said she'd call everyone else to let them know. I'm going to call Elijah and Katherine after we get you down the stairs, the twins will be okay alone for the short time that it will take for one of them to drive over. "

"We're going with you." A voice called out from the doorway. They turned to see both Lexi and Henry standing in the doorway, twin looks of determination on their faces. It had been Lexi who had spoken, with Henry adding. "We want to go to the hospital with you, we'll stay in the waiting room but we want to be there."

Klaus was about to argue with them but decided against it, understanding their need to be there when their sister was born. "Then hurry up and get anything you want to take with you, we are leaving now."

They moved in controlled chaos, voices yelling back and forth as Caroline carefully made it down the stairs, cursing the number of them as she did. However it wasn't even fifteen minutes later that the four of them were inside Caroline's mini SUV, heading to the hospital at the highest speed he could safely get them there.

The controlled chaos resumed when they reached the hospital, with the nurses and other hospital workers added to the mix. Thankfully they were used to women showing up in labor and knew what to do, so it wasn't long until Caroline was in a room hooked up to monitors and the doctor examining her.

"It appears you have been in labor for a few hours. You are already dilated three centimeters and the contractions are coming at about five minutes apart." Dr. Maxfield explained. "Which means we need to get you prepped for an emergency caesarian right away, I've already called the anesthesiologist to have your epidural done."

"You're not going to try and stop it?" Caroline asked.

The doctor only shook his head. "If this had happened a few weeks ago, that would be the best course of action but you are thirty eight weeks, that's full term Caroline. After all, you were scheduled to have it done next week. She just decided to come out sooner, babies have their own timetable."

Once he could see that both of them had accepted his decision, Dr. Maxfield ordered the nurses to move Caroline to the operating room and begin prepping her for the C-section. Klaus had planned to stay with her through it all but she quickly told him that she would be fine for a couple of minutes while he went and updated the twins.

After changing into a pair of scrubs, one of the nurses took him to see his wife. When he entered, Caroline was lying back on the bed, dressed in a gown, an IV stuck in her arm and some kind of screen across her waist, blocking her line of sight to what was going on at the end of the bed. This was very different from when the twins were born.

As soon as she spotted him, she smiled and held out her hand for him. "How are they?"

"They're fine, full of questions about how you are. Bonnie and Kol are with them now." Klaus explained.

"You just missed the anesthesiologist." Caroline told him. "I can't feel anything from the waist down."

"It's for the best love." He replied, kissing her hand.

"I know." She agreed before her eyes lowered, looking him over. "You look pretty good in those scrubs. We might need to see if you can take those home with us."

Klaus couldn't help but laugh at her comment. He had a feeling that they had given her a little bit more than an epidural to relax her. However before he could respond, Dr. Maxfield spoke up. "We are about to get started, are you ready to see your daughter?"

"Yes." They both answered.

For how big of an event the birth was for them, the actual procedure went by unbelievably fast. It seemed as if the doctor had barely started before the wail of a baby filled the room, bringing tears to Caroline's eyes. It was one of the most wonderful sounds she had ever heard. She listened to it for a few moments, unable to see anything past the screen, Klaus next to her. Then suddenly, one of the nurses appeared around the screen next to Klaus, a bundle in her arms. "I believe someone wants to meet you."

Klaus moved forward, his arms outstretched to take the precious object from the nurse, getting his first look at the newest member of their family. While he remembered the twins' birth vividly, he had forgotten how the flood of emotions hit you suddenly the first time you held them. She was beautiful, just like her mother and sister. A bit of blonde hair poked out of the blanket, framing her round pink face, including a nose that was identical to Caroline's.

Though she really couldn't move especially considering that the doctor was still working on her, sewing up the incisions and what not, Caroline did what she could to try and get a glimpse of the little human that she and Klaus made. She watched Klaus' look of awe as he took her in but it wasn't enough. "Klaus…"

At the sound of his wife's voice, Klaus came out of the daze that he was in, guilt hitting him as he realized that he had kept Caroline from seeing her right away. He moved to her side, bending down so that she was able to see her.

"Oh," Caroline gasped when she saw the little angelic face poking out of the blanket. Since finding out she was pregnant, she had tried numerous times to imagine what their baby would look like, would she favor one of them more than the other like the twins favored the Mikaelson side of the family, or would she be a mixture of the two of them. Now she had her answer, she was a perfect blend of the two of them; little curls, her nose a miniature version of her own, while her lips were full like her father's. She reached out to brush her fingertips over her little cheek as she said. "Hello beautiful, I'm your mama."

As soon as the little girl felt her mother's touch, her lips began to move in a sucking motion causing Klaus to chuckle. "I think someone is hungry."

"I bet she is, she worked up quite the appetite trying to make her appearance early." Caroline replied, staring at her new daughter for a moment before glancing up at Klaus. "I should try to feed her."

It took some doing, given that the doctor was still sewing her up but between one of the nurses and Klaus, they were able to maneuver the baby around in Klaus' arms so that the baby could nuzzle against her mother's breast and after a few false starts, quickly latched on and had her first meal.

Her parents watched as she nursed quietly before Klaus broke the silence. "Do you still want to keep the name we chose?"

Careful so not to jostle the baby, Caroline nodded. "Yes, I think it suits her, don't you think?"

"I do." Klaus agreed before leaning forward and kissing his wife's forehead. She looked both tired and awake, and he knew that she would need a lot of rest to recover. However he knew she wouldn't get the sleep she needed until she saw the twins, and vice versa, and he planned to remedy that as soon as possible.

As they walked down the hospital corridor, Klaus could see the barely contained excitement vibrating through the twins. He knew that if they had their choice, they would be sprinting down the hall to Caroline's room, but they restrained themselves. After all they didn't want to risk getting kicked out of the hospital and not being able to see their mother and baby sister. Not to mention Henry didn't want to drop the sunflowers they had bought in the gift shop.

Klaus had actually been surprised when Henry suggested it, not that his son had thought of the gesture but because the two of them were willing to sacrifice a few more minutes to do it. They had been chomping at the bit to visit since he had come out and told his family that the baby had been born and that both of them were doing fine. They could see their mother and new sister, but they would have to wait until after Caroline was moved to recovery and then her own room. Lexi had said it seemed like they had been waiting days but she did have a flare for the dramatics at times.

"311!" Lexi called out, "Here it is."

Before they could shove the door open, Klaus stopped them. "Remember what I told you two."

"That Mom is tired and sore so we have to be careful when we hug her and we can't be too loud or crazy either." Henry recited. "We know Dad, you've told us twelve times already."

"At least." Lexi joined in. "Can we go?"

"Yes, but knock first. Just in case." Klaus permitted.

Both twins knocked at the same time, and were answered by a muted voice telling them to come in. They quickly entered and was met by a huge, yet tired looking smile from Caroline. "There are my sweeties, come here."

Henry and Lexi did as she asked and hurried to her bedside but slowed as they got near, not wanting to hurt her. Caroline reached for them as best she could; though she didn't mind a little bit of soreness if it meant being able to hold her children close. After hugging them tightly, she pulled back and saw that their attention was on the small bassinet on the other side of the bed. "Would you guys like to meet your baby sister?"

"Yes." They said simultaneously before scrambling over to the bassinet and peered inside. In the middle of the little bed, wrapped in a blue and pink striped blanket, wearing a matching little hat was their little sister.

"Henry, Lexi, meet your sister Charlotte Anne." Klaus introduced. "Charlotte, this is your big brother and sister."

At the sound of her name, Charlotte opened her eyes and looked towards them. They had been told that babies couldn't see that well but they both liked to think that she was looking at them.

"Hi Charlotte." Henry spoke softly. They had talked to her and felt her move while their mother had been pregnant, and he wondered if she recognized his voice. When she was older, he would read her Charlotte's Web, where her name came from. It was his sister's and his favorite book from when they were younger so they had suggested it to their parents who liked it just as much as they had.

"Her hair is the same color as Mom and mine." Lexi said the excitement in her voice obvious as she reached over and ran her finger over one of the small curls that poked out of her cap before brushing her cheek.

"Yeah but she has blue eyes like Dad and I." Henry challenged.

Lexi rolled her eyes. "We all have blue eyes."

"Guys, you don't have to argue, she looks like a little bit of all of us." Caroline stated. "Now she's going to need to eat again in a little bit but do you guys want to hold her?"

A few minutes later, Henry was sitting in the nearby loveseat, Lexi next to him with Charlotte in his arms and their father close just in case. Not wanting to miss the opportunity, Caroline reached over for Klaus' phone and quickly snapped a couple of pictures as well as a few of Lexi holding her. Once she was satisfied with the shots, she leaned back on the bed and closed her eyes to rest a bit, the sound of her children and their husband lulling her to sleep.

Love it? Hate it?

I know some people are disappointed that Caroline did indeed end up pregnant in the end. I will say that I had planned it from the beginning, (including the way she found out, I had a family friend that went through the same thing) but I only wanted it to happen after they had been together for quite some time (By this time, they have been going at it like bunnies for over 3 years) to show that it was indeed difficult for her to get pregnant and it wasn't a simple fix for her to sleep with Klaus and his super sperm to get her pregnant. That and the story itself is about Caroline, Klaus and the twins coming together, I didn't want a baby to overshadow their story.

Also, as many of you know since you read this story, I'm a stickler for realism so I wanted to leave this note that I did put a little bit of fiction into the doctor's appt. The doctor is rarely in the room when an ultrasound is done, at least in my experience, but I needed him to remain so that I could have the whole conversation about Caroline's bedrest. And neither of my births were C-sections so all of that section was via research on the net and I hope it came out okay. And the whole bit with Caroline painting her toes can happen, I used a bit of my own history for that part of the story. The night before I was supposed to have my oldest, I was determined to paint my toenails despite my preggers belly and the way I had Caroline do it was how I did it. It wasn't fun but it got the job done.

I'm planning for one more epilogue, and it will focus mostly on the twins since so many of you asked for scenes of them when they are older.
