A/N – This one was an idea of my own, as I haven't been asked to write any in specific. I hope you guys like it. And keep the comments and reviews coming. I love them so much. This is a ridiculously long chapter, so enjoy. NOT PROOF READ.
Prompt – Jane's a photographer and Maura is her subject. They've never met before. Both are in to women, but the other doesn't know it. NON SMUT. SORRY.
Jane Rizzoli was a professional photographer. Whether it was photographing celebrities in their homes, or doing group photos of people at parties. Jane would be called to do anything. Her latest call was asking her to go to the home of one Maura Isles. Jane had heard of Maura before. Never had she actually seen her, or even a picture of her. But that name had come up on many occasions. Maura was a well-known published author the topic of pathology. Her books were sold world-wide. When Jane thought about her, she pictured a middle aged woman, that didn't look like much, but was obviously very good at her job. But what she saw when the door to the house opened was nothing like she imagined. There stood this gorgeous woman, with long blonde curls. Hazel eyes that could break down even the Great Wall of China.
"You must be the photographer. Jane Rizzoli I presume." Jane was standing there with her mouth hanging open slightly. She had photographed many people over her years. But never had she been graced with the chance to photograph someone as beautiful as the person that stood before her. When she finally came to her senses, she extended her hand towards the woman before her, and shook her hand.
"Yeah. Sorry. I take it you're Maura Isles." Jane could hear the wavering in her voice. She could be as tough and as closed off as she wanted to be most of the time. But three seconds with Maura and she was a puddle of jelly. She took her hand back and rested it by her side, but she noticed the small tingle she felt in her hand where it had been touched by that soft, pale skin. Her eyes never left the ones that were practically boring into her soul.
"If you would care to follow me, I can show you where you can set up." Maura turned her back, and made her way into the house. Jane followed leaving the door slightly open knowing she would need to go back to her van to get her equipment out. As she followed Maura she looked all around the house. Taking in all the different artefacts, and paintings hanging all over the wall. From what she could see, Maura was a very well educated individual. Or she came from a family of money. Either way, she could afford to live the way Jane only dreamed of. Her job paid well, but nothing that would ever get her close to something like this.
"So, Miss Isles. What exactly am I photographing you for today? Sometimes different scenarios create different photos." Jane clarified when she saw the confused expression on Maura's face. Maura didn't answer until she had pushed open the double doors to the room they stood in front of.
"I need a new author's photo and I have heard from many of my friends that your photos are simply the best. I wanted to see for myself." Maura turned around and the biggest shit eating grin plastered on her face. Jane wasn't sure what the smile was all about, but she couldn't bring herself to think about it when her focus was drawn to the massive library they now stood in. The room reached the full three stories of the house. It was huge. And it wasn't small in terms of width of the room. Each wall was covered in books and the cases that held them. No wall could be seen. The only areas not covered in books were the windows on the far wall, and the door in and out of the room. Jane was completely gobsmacked to say the least. She liked reading. She found it was a way to un-wind and escape reality. But never could she even imagine a place like this. It looked like the library from the movie Beauty and the Beast.
"You…uh…You have quite the collection." Jane's attention finally turned back to the blonde beauty stood in the middle of the room. Jane found it ironic. In this case, Jane would have been Belle from the movie, and Maura would have been the Beast, showing Belle the library. But Jane couldn't bring herself to call Maura anything but beautiful. Maura stood there with her arms crossed, as she looked up and around her books.
"I suppose so. I've read almost all of them. Some are just collector's items. But my favourite one, is right over here." Maura walked over to the wall to the right, and picked up a rather large and thick book. She ran her hands over it in almost caressing motion. Jane came up and looked at the book title. Once Upon A Time.
"A fairy tale book?" Jane seemed confused. She barely knew the woman, true. But she didn't seem like a fairy tale kinda gal.
"Yes. I am one for the more literal and truthful side of things, but whenever I read one of these stories, I feel like the world ceases to exist just for a little while. As though no one else exists and I can be free to think whatever I want." Jane looked to the woman as she went off on her rant about the book. She felt a warmth flicker in her heart as she listened to the blonde beauty. It was strange. Jane had never had such a strong pull towards anyone in such a short amount of time. "I'm sorry. I'm rambling aren't I?" Jane loved how Maura could go from ridiculously passionate to shy and self-conscious in a matter of seconds. Without even thinking about it she placed her hand down on Maura's forearm to try and reassure her.
"Not at all. I also love to read. But I can't say I've ever read these fairy tales you seem to love so much." Maura had a small twinkle in her eyes as she replied,
"I'll have to lend it to you sometime." Jane looked back up to see the look on Maura's face. In that one look, Jane felt her knees going weak. She had been with Maura for no more than 10 minutes and already Jane was wrapped around her little finger. But Maura wasn't done playing yet. When she saw something she liked she always got it. No two ways about it. But she got the feeling she was going to have to do some ground work before she was going to get this one. Placing the book back on the shelf she took it from, Maura moved so she was right up in front of Jane. Jane didn't move. She couldn't. The stare Maura was giving her was paralysing. "Do you need any help collecting your equipment from the van?" Maura's voice was low and husky, and it made Jane feel things she hadn't felt for a while now.
"Um…n…no. I should be alright to get it all myself. You just relax and I'll be set up before you know it." Jane scooted herself out of the room, and away from Maura. Jane took a deep breath when she was out of the room. In her line of work, she met many gorgeous people. She couldn't deny that. She may have only been attracted to the females of the species, but even a few of the men she had shot were drop dead handsome. But she had made herself one rule. One rule she swore to herself she would never break. She would never try and make a move to any of her subjects. She could look all she wanted to. But she would never touch. But this particular client wasn't making that easy for her. Jane was a strong willed person. She was resilient to a lot of things. But a person could only stand for so long before they fall. And Jane was almost at her dropping point with this one. When she reached her van one small thought crossed her mind. I can't make a move. But if she makes a move, that is a completely different story. A smile crossed Jane's face at the thought. It meant she wasn't breaking her rue because wasn't the one to make the move.
But she wasn't even sure if Maura would make a move to her. Jane was generally very open about her sexuality, but other people weren't always so open. Jane needed to determine whether or not Maura was into women. She couldn't go getting her hopes up and making plans to get Maura to fall for her, if there wasn't even any chance that it would work in the end. So she needed to play her cards right. Be cautious, but flirty. Jane knew she wanted Maura from the minute the door swung open. And there was nothing on this earth that was going to stop either woman from getting what they wanted. Except maybe each other.

Jane was ready and set up in about 20 minutes. The entire time, Maura was sitting on a sofa to the side of the room, pretending to be reading a book, but every chance she got she looked at Jane. The way she moved. The way her arms flexed when she was moving some of the equipment. But her favourite view was when Jane was bending down to sort the sheet out that would be Maura's background. Maura go the most amazing view of Jane's butt. And in the skinny jeans Jane had worn, there was little that was left to the imagination. Jane didn't even notice Maura checking her out. She was concerned with just getting everything set up. But that didn't stop her from stealing her own glances as she was walking in and out of the room. She would see Maura sitting there with her feet up under her. Her hair fell around her face slightly, but the shadow it cast just made her seem even more appealing to Jane.
"Okay. All set. If you want to come and take a seat, I can get you ready." Jane patter the stool that stood on the middle of the white sheet, but in front of it hanging from the bar. Maura put the book she had been 'reading' down, and made her way towards Jane. Jane stood behind her camera and waited for Maura to sit down. Trying to focus the camera just right before moving back round to prep Maura a little more. She picked up her make-up bag and got to work. The silence was making things slightly awkward. For both of them. But Maura was the one with enough confidence to make a move for them both.
"So what made you want to be a photographer?" Jane was slightly caught off guard by the question and nearly dropped the brush she was using. When she regained her composure she looked down at Maura and saw the smirk plastered on her face. But she wasn't going to show the nerves that were racing through her body. This was one woman Jane wasn't going to let get to her.
"Well, originally I love to draw. But being a sketch artist doesn't really pay much. So I decided to start photographing. It was kinda cool actually. It meant that I could take pictures of some of the most gorgeous things I have ever seen, and if I wanted to I could draw from them later." Jane's was calm and collected as she spoke.
"So if you had to choose one thing, what would be the most beautiful thing you have taken a picture of?" Maura looked dead straight. She refused to look up at Jane. She knew if she did she would be too tempted to smile. So she kept her gaze forward and her face neutral. Jane wasn't sure how to respond to that. She instantly wanted to say that Maura was the most amazing thing she has ever seen. But that means she is then showing all her cards, and she needs to hold for a little longer.
"Well, that depends. If I wanted to say the best scene I have ever pictured, it would have to be the landscape of Boston, in the middle of winter, just as the sun was setting. The tops of the building look like they're burning from the way the sun hits the snow. The lights from all the cars rushing by blur together and you gets streams of red and white. And you can just see the steam coming from the building that have the heating on. It really is a sight to see." Jane had finished with the make-up and was just working on moving Maura's hair slightly. There was very little about this woman that wasn't perfect. But Jane knew how to make a person look good in their photos.
"It sounds wonderful." Maura's breathing had become slightly shallow as she listened to Jane. Just that voice and that way she spoke about something she loved almost had Maura jumping from her seat and taking Jane then and there. But that wasn't how Maura did things. She let them come to her. "And if you were choosing from the people you have photographed?"
"No see that is a tough one." Jane was only teasing, but it seemed to work. She saw Maura flick her eyes towards her. The fire in those eyes could have killed. "I guess if you want me to be completely honest, the most beautiful person I have photographed is…Jennifer Morrison. What can I say? A gorgeous face and blonde curls just seem to do it for me." Jane didn't think she could have been more obvious. But she may have been so obvious Maura missed it completely. A small huff escaped Maura. She wasn't happy that Jane didn't say her. But she did pick up on one thing in the comment.
"Hang on. I don't like guessing at the best of times, but would I be right in saying that you just stated that you're into women?" Jane smirked. She wasn't expecting Maura to be quite as forward at that but it gave her the opening she needed.
"I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours." Jane leant down and was just inches from Maura's face. They still hadn't even taken a single photo. Maura's mouth however wouldn't open to respond to Jane. She Jane was baiting her, but she wasn't going to bite. Not yet at least. This was going to be a waiting game to see who would crack first. But neither women were looking to end the game any time soon. Jane stood back up straight and took one last look at Maura to make sure everything was perfect. When she was happy with her work, she moved behind her camera and got to work.
There would be the occasional instruction telling Maura to maybe tilt her head, or smile, or turn her body. The entire time Maura was posing, all she could think about was how close she had gotten to Jane just moments ago. She was practically kicking herself for not taking advantage of chance. She always liked the girls to come to her. It gave her a sense of control. But she got the feeling that Jane was equally as controlling. Or certainly stubborn. She may have to rethink her plan on this one. Before she knew it Jane was popping her head up from behind her camera and talking to her.
"All done. That was awesome. You are clearly very photogenic." If I am so damn photogenic why didn't you think I was the best person you have ever photographed? Maura thought to herself.
"Thank you. How long do you think it will be before the photos are ready?" Jane was already packing away her stuff, as Maura got off the chair.
"Well, I can get them developed and send you the copies to take your pick from in about a week." Jane was trying to just pack up and go. She knew that if anything were to happen between herself and Maura, she would be asking for trouble. She didn't need the drama in her life. But she still had one last thing she needed to say to Maura before she left. But it could wait till she was at the front door. She had finally packed all her stuff in the van, and Maura was walking Jane to the door. Jane stood in the doorway and turned back to face Maura one last time.
"Thank you for the help Jane. It has been a pleasure to meet you." Maura extended her hand to Jane as a small gesture. But really it was so she could feel that soft skin once more before she inevitably left.
"You're welcome. And Maura. Earlier you asked me who the best person I had photographed was. I told you it was Jennifer Morrison." Maura's jaw tensed. She really didn't like that answer. But there was nothing she could do about it now.
"Yes I recall." She was trying to be polite. But the bite in her tone could be heard a mile away.
"Well, I can now say you are the most beautiful person I have ever photographed." Maura's jaw slacked and almost hit the floor. Jane was tempted to laugh, but this was a moment that required a level of seriousness.
"But you said earlier…"
"Earlier, you asked me before I had been given the chance to photograph you. So technically, I couldn't include you in the decision." Maura was completely speechless. That was not something she was thought Jane would say. "Oh, and since I hate leaving things un-finished, to answer your other question, I am into women. Exclusively actually." Jane couldn't stop smiling. Maura couldn't say anything. Never had Maura been silenced by another woman. She was normally the one that held all the power. But she was rather enjoying the challenge that was Jane Rizzoli. Jane turned and started heading back to her car. Maura thought this would be her only chance to make her move.
"I guess that makes two of us then." Maura yelled from where she stood in the doorway. Jane turned and looked at Maura. The look they shared was one that said many words, without having to say anything at all. Jane knew she was starting to get into trouble. So she decided to continue to her car. When she reached her car door, she looked to Maura once more.
"It was really nice to meet you Maura Isles."
"Likewise Jane Rizzoli." And with that, Jane climbed into her car and drove off. Maura stood there for a moment more. She was about to scream at herself for letting Jane get away. She knew that she was going to have a hard time trying to forget this one.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
2 weeks had been and gone since the photoshoot. Jane had posted the photos to Maura. She had selected the one she wanted and sent that to her publisher. But neither woman was able to forget about the other. Jane found herself going to her usual coffee shop every day at 4 like usual. But she was forever drawing images of Maura. In all different forms. She had one of Maura lying on a bed with the sheets barely covering her. One was a close-up of Maura, side on. She kept drawing her. And she couldn't seem to stop herself.
Maura, however, was having slightly more physical reactions to the brunette. She would wake up each night panting for breath, and the sheets sticking to her body. When she felt the warmth between her legs, she knew she had had another one of the dreams. A dream where she was having her way with Jane. Where she was able to kiss Jane. And hold her hand.
Maura wanted to be able to do everything with Jane. But she hadn't seen her in two weeks. Which meant she was now desperate. And desperate times call for desperate measures. The next morning Maura walked into the BPD and straight upstairs to find the few people she knew she could trust. As she entered the pin. The two people she was looking for came into view.
"Detective Frost. Detective Korsak. Good morning to you both."
"Good morning Doctor Isles." The two replied in unison.
"I have a small favour to ask the two of you." The two looked to each other. Both curious, but also cautious. It was very rare that the doctor asked them for anything. So when she did, they assumed she must have a good reason. Vince turned back to her and replied.
"What can we do for you doctor?"
"I need you to find someone for me." Both men's interests were officially peaked. Frost pulled himself closer towards his computer and got his hands at the ready.
"And who exactly are we looking for?" Maura walked right over to where Frost was sitting at his desk. Looking down at the screen, she started rattling off all she knew.
"Her name is Jane Rizzoli. She is a photographer. I would say she was late 20's, early 30's. Other than that, I don't know much about her." Frost got to work typing away on his computer. Vince came up behind Maura and gently tapped her on the shoulder.
"Why exactly are we looking for this woman?" His eyebrows were slightly raised, as he asked her.
"She was the woman who took my authors photo a few weeks back. I haven't been able to stop thinking about her, and I am dying to have the chance to just see her once more." Vince and Frost were two of the few people Maura was happy to speak freely to. They knew almost everything about her. Along with the fact that she can't lie. Korsak just gave her a nod of approval. Normally he was against abusing the use they had at the BPD, but Maura never asked for much. And she had saved their butts on more than a few cases. He felt he owed her a little something.
"Okay. I got her." Maura turned around and saw a photo on the screen. There was no question. That was the Jane Rizzoli that had captivated her mind for the past 2 weeks.
"That's her." Maura's voice was barely even a whisper. Her breath was completely stolen when she saw her. "Is there any way I can find her?"
"Well I could just give you her address." Frost stated like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"No. I don't want to go to her house. That just makes me look like I've been stalking her." Frost looked over his shoulder with one eyebrow raised in a questioning look.
"What exactly are you doing now?" Maura pursed her lips and needed to check her temper. Now was not the time to piss her off. Luckily Korsak had learnt to read Maura a mile away.
"Why don't we see if there is any place she frequents. Frost, can you check her credit card records?" Without saying a word, Frost turned back to his screen mumbling something about abuse of power, but neither of the people behind him were particularly listening.
"Okay, here we go. Looks like she goes to the same coffee shop, every day at around 4. Is that good enough for you?" Maura just glared at him now.
"You know, if I wasn't against physical abuse, I would so slap you round the head right now." Korsak was there next to her, doing exactly what she couldn't. The small slam sound that came when his hand connected to Frost's head made Maura smile a little. She turned to face Korsak. "Thank you." He gave a small head tilt in acknowledgement. She turned back to Frost. "Can you send me that address? With any luck I might be able to meet with her this afternoon." Maura looked down at her watch and saw it was only coming up to 3. Frost sent her the address. She noticed it was reasonably close. Barely even a 20 minute walk.
Maura decided to head straight over. She hoped that if she got there a bit earlier, it would give her a chance to work out what she wanted to say to the woman. She was desperate to talk to her. But it had never crossed her mind what she was actually going to say. She really wanted to be able to ask the woman out. But she had never done something like that. People had always asked her out. And she was always the one to break their hearts or make their dreams come true. But she was putting herself on the line here. The more she thought about it though. The more she realised, that for Jane Rizzoli, a woman she hardly knew, she would put herself out there. She would take the risk, and pray beyond God it payed off.
As if on que, the stunning brunette that had been staring in Maura's dreams finally showed up. She walked through the door with so much grace, she looked like an angel. But with the fierce and power that said that if you tried to mess with her you would end up in a very painful situation. Maura watched as she walked up to the counter and placed her order. Maura noticed the sketch pad Jane held in her arm, and the bag at her hip. She remembered that Jane had said how she loved to sketch. Maura would have loved to have seen some of Jane's sketches. She was positive they were amazing. Everything Jane did would have been amazing in Maura's eyes.
Jane went and sat down at a table, and instantly opened her sketch book. Maura couldn't see anything from where she was sitting. She knew she needed to go and talk to Jane. But the nerves were starting to get to her. Never before had she been nervous about talking to someone. Maura prided herself on her ability to do what she thought was right. What she knew she had to do. But with Jane, it was as though all the rules and foundations Maura had built herself were being broken down. Maura took one deep breath. Counted back from 10. Anything to calm her nerves down. When she decided she was calm enough to form a sentence together, she got up from her seat and made her way over to Jane's table.
Maura walked round behind Jane so she got the chance to look at the sketch book first. Maybe if she could see what Jane was drawing, she would have the conversation starter she needed. And, she was right. Maura looked over Jane's shoulder and saw herself. Jane was drawing her. Maura had a small smirk on her face when she finally decided to speak.
"Now is it just me, or is she a bit familiar?" Jane jumped at hearing someone behind her. When she turned to see who it was she almost fell off her chair. Managing to keep herself up, Jane quickly closed her sketch book to stop Maura from looking into it.
"Jeez. I know you're a pathologist, but I would rather you didn't try to increase your work load." Jane was trying to get her breathing back under control as she looked at Maura who was now taking the seat opposite her. "Not that I'm complaining, but what exactly are you doing here? I come here every day, and I have never seen you here before." Maura looked down at her hands to try and find a way to answer without lying. She couldn't just tell Jane she got her friends at the BPD to find her. She thought that would just make her seem creepy.
"Well, the coffee at where I work might as well be sludge because they rarely clean the filters. So I am always trying to find a new coffee place within a reasonable distance to where I work." Jane's eyes narrowed at Maura. She couldn't decide whether what Maura was telling her was true. But she had no reason to not believe her.
"Did you know I would be here?" Damn. Maura knew she was stuck now. It was a direct question, and she knew there would be no way around telling the truth.
"I did." Maura bowed her head in shame and embarrassment. Thinking about it, she felt so silly for even asking Korsak and Frost to help her. When she looked up, she thought she would see Jane almost scared out of her mind. Or at the very least, freaked out. But she was smiling. Smirking almost. Jane leant back in her chair and folded her arms across her chest.
"Okay, I remember you saying that you hate to guess. But I love to guess. So here is what I think is going on. You work at the BPD as the Chief Medical Examiner." Maura's eyes widened in surprise. Originally Jane didn't know a thing about Maura. "I did my homework. Wasn't that hard actually. You're quite a well-documented person. Makes it easier to research. Anyway. You work at the BPD. I'm guessing you asked a few of your cop friends to try and find me. You maybe, checked my credit card records or something, and found I come here every day around 4. How close am I?" Maura was completely flabbergasted. She had no words. So she shut her mouth and just nodded. Jane couldn't help but laugh. She moved forward so she was slightly closer to Maura, and leant her arms against the table. "Now, I could take that 1 of 2 ways. I could think you are a total creep and a possible stalker." Maura instantly jumped forward slightly.
"No. I'm not a…"
"Or, I think you are totally cute for trying to find me, and decide to ask you out on a date." Maura's stunned silence had returned. She was trying to process what was happening. Did Jane just ask me out on a date? Maura wasn't entirely sure she wasn't dreaming.
"I…uh…Did you just…?"
"Would you, Maura Isles, like to go on a date with me?" Jane took Maura's hands in her own. She could see how much Maura was shaking from where she was sitting. She really liked the woman, but didn't want to make her nervous. She looked at Maura's eyes and tried to tell her that everything was alright. She was worried that if she said anything, she would scare Maura, and she would have officially lost her chance with the gorgeous blonde. Maura was thinking over the question when her gaze landed back on Jane's sketch book.
"I will go on a date with you, if you let me take a look at some of your sketches." Jane tilted her head to her sketch book and couldn't help but let out a small laugh.
"When did this become a bargain game?" Maura just quirked up her eyebrow, and looked Jane dead in the eye. She was being serious. She wanted to see what Jane could do. So she figured now would be as good a time as any to take a look. "Sure. Why not?" Jane let Maura's hands go. Both women instantly missing the feeling of the other's hands. Jane grabbed her book and placed it in front of Maura. She was as nervous as all hell. The first few pages were fine. They were just a bunch of random sketches. Some flowers. Her family. Some animals. It was the images after that.
"Jane, these sketches are amazing. Is this your family?"
"Yes. That is my brother Frankie. My brother Tommy. And my Ma." Maura noticed that Jane's father wasn't in the image, but she chose not to question it. "And seeing as how I can almost guarantee you are thinking it, my Pop walked out on us when I was younger. Left my Ma to raise all 3 of us on her own."
"Sorry to hear that."
"Don't be. I wouldn't have had it any other way." Maura saw the sparkle in Jane's eye. She could tell she loved her family very much. Maura turned back to the book, and continued to flip through the pages. After a few more pages, she came across an image of herself. She paused for a moment looking at the image. It was one of the images from the photoshoot. Maura looked up to Jane and could see the embarrassment painted all over her face. Without saying a word, she kept flicking. But with each page that passed, she saw another sketch of herself, in different forms. There was one where she was sitting on a park bench reading a book. One of her standing over a body, performing an autopsy. Maura stopped on the sketch that showed her lying on a bed with just the sheets, barely covering her. She looked up at Jane again, and she looked like she was about to combust.
"Okay, can we just…" Jane leant forward and turned the page to leave the sketch behind. Maura let it go. For now. The last sketch she saw was the one she saw Jane working on, when she came and sat down. She was sitting on a windowsill. Cup in hand, looking out the window. It was strange. Even though it was just a sketch, Maura could see the thoughtful expression on her face. She looked up to Jane again, with complete admiration in her eyes.
"These are really good Jane. And I'm not just saying that because most of them are of me." Jane glared at her for a moment before her expression softened at the look Maura was giving her. "I can see why you chose to go for a career in art. It was just a shame it couldn't be in sketching." Jane was silent at hearing Maura's words. The smile on Maura's face never wavered. She truly admired Jane.
"Well, like I've said. Sketches can't pay the bills." Jane reached to retrieve her book back, but Maura's hand swatted hers away before she got the chance. Jane looked at Maura like she was crazy. But Maura was still smiling, even as she turned the page back one to the image that had Jane going red in the cheeks. Jane had to look away. She couldn't even believe she drew that in the first place. But it was an image that wouldn't leave her alone.
"I am however particularly intrigued with this one." Jane refused to look at the sketch or Maura. She was completely mortified that the woman she had been thinking about for 2 weeks was looking at her sketch book that was filled with images of her. One of which, she wasn't ashamed she had drawn, because Maura truly was beautiful, but embarrassed that she was now looking at said image. "Why are you embarrassed? I am actually quite flattered that you would think of me in such a way, and have the talent to be able to draw it in such detail."
"I'm just…" Jane turned to look at Maura once more. She couldn't quite figure out what the look on her face was. But it had a Jane's body tingling all over. "I'm not one that talks about…that sort of…stuff." Maura quirked an eyebrow, and gestured to the sketch as she replied.
"And by 'stuff' you mean, fantasising about a woman you hardly know, only to then draw it in a book. Well, you may not be one to talk about it, but as you don't seem to be aware," Maura leaned in so close she was practically resting her chin on Jane's shoulder. "I am not one to hide from such things. I am quite comfortable with my body, and have no issue with people thinking about it. However, I only let special few actually look upon it. Would you like to be included in that little group Jane?" Maura's voice had Jane's getting caught at the back of her throat. Jane was trying to gather her thoughts before she responded. It certainly helped when Maura leant back and Jane couldn't feel her breath against her skin anymore. Although it was sorely missed. Reaching for her book again, and this time getting her hands on it, Jane plastered the biggest grin she could muster as she replied,
"I believe that before I can even consider such a question, we should have that date." Jane was packing her stuff away as she was talking. "So, I'll be seeing you tomorrow. I'll be round at 7. Until then. Goodbye Maura." Maura didn't even get the chance to reply before Jane was out the door. Maura let out an exasperated gasp as she slumped down into her chair. Jane Rizzoli was someone who was going to cause her a lot of trouble. But she knew she was going to have a crazy amount of fun with it.

6:55pm, and Maura was freaking out to say the least. She was so nervous about her date with Jane. Which was peculiar for Maura. She wasn't normally the one for nerves. But tonight, her body seemed alive with them. She heard the doorbell ring, and she almost ran to the front door. Or at least, as much as you can when wearing 5-inch heels, and a skin tight dress. When she reached the front door, she took a moment to compose herself before pulling it open. The first thing she saw was Jane, wearing a very simple, but very elegant black suit and tie, with a white shirt. It fit her so well. And it showed off her long legs in no way any dress and heels could. The more Maura looked, the more she noticed. And what she noticed were the two plastic bags Jane was holding in either hand.
"What's all this? I thought we were going out on a date?" Jane stepped inside the house and made her way straight for the kitchen.
"Oh we are having a date. But we are not going out." Maura followed Jane into the kitchen and stood with her arms crossed over her chest. "See, growing up with an Italian Ma, she would kill me, if for our first date, I didn't cook you a fully authentic, Italian home cooked meal." Jane was placing all the items from the bag down on the counter. Maura had relaxed slightly and made her way towards one of the bar stools situated on the other side of the counter. Jane shrugged off her jacket and placed it at the end of the counter. She rolled her sleeves up before getting to work.
Maura instantly noticed how Jane with the sleeves rolled up was about 10 times sexier than anything she had ever seen before. It was like the small change somehow made Jane look better than she already was. Maura had originally thought that task to be impossible. And she had been proven wrong. She had never been so happy to be wrong. She watched as Jane chopped and prepared the food. Maura was in awe of Jane's culinary skills. She hadn't pegged the woman as a domestic type.
"Where did you learn to cook?" Maura noticed how Jane physically slowed her movements for a split second before continuing. "You don't have to answer if you…"
"No. It's fine. When my Pop left the family, my ma had to work 2, sometimes 3 jobs to try and keep a roof over our heads. When she would work late nights, I had to look after my little brothers. You know feed them, bathe them, put them to bed. It just made things easier on her."
"You must have been a wonderful daughter."
"I guess. I just didn't want her to have to do everything." Jane continued to cook, occasionally tasting what she was making to be sure it was good. "After a while I asked my Ma if she could teach me some of our family recipes. That was my first mistake." Maura couldn't help but laugh. Jane sounded completely absurd at this point.
"What are you talking about?"
"I asked my Ma that question when I was about 14, maybe 15. She thought it was me beginning to want to become the perfect wife for a man." Maura quirked her eyebrow up in confusion. "At this point, I didn't know I was a lesbian, and my Ma wanted me to have a big traditional wedding. Anyway, I digress. My point is, my Ma is crazy. After that, she started grooming me almost to become a wife. It wasn't until I was 22 that I realised I was a lesbian." Jane was looking round the kitchen before turning to Maura. "Where do you keep the plates?"
"Top cupboard. Bottom shelf." Maura pointed to the cupboard she was talking about. Jane grabbed to plates and moved back to the counter.
"Anyway, breaking the news to my Ma wasn't easy. Italian. Catholic. I thought she was going to disown me. But she just looked at me and said I was going to make a very lucky woman, very happy one day." Jane looked up at Maura with a smile on her face. She felt happy with this one. And Jane hoped that Maura felt the same way towards her. Breaking the eye contact, Jane looked down at the plates and pushed one across to Maura. "Bon appetite." Jane took a seat next to Maura, but waited for Maura to take her first bite before eating it herself. Maura placed some pasta and the sauce in her mouth, and the moan that came from her had Jane shivering all over again.
"Oh. My. God. This is amazing. What is it called?" "
"Well, the common world would call it pasta with arrabbiata sauce. But my Ma taught me how to make a special sauce that could make anything taste like heaven." Jane got stuck into her own meal. The rest of the dinner went by in idle chit chat. Both women talking about this and that. When they had both finished, Jane moved to clean the plates away, but Maura tried to stop her.
"Please Jane. You don't have to do that. You're a guest in my house."
"That may be, but I asked you out on this date, so I will act accordingly until it is over. Now go sit on the couch and I'll bring us some drinks over in a moment." Maura huffed out a breath. Normally she would continue to argue, but she was more than happy to see Jane work. It gave her more to look at. And the view was amazing. So she wasn't complaining. Maura took a seat on the couch and got comfortable. Jane cam over a few minutes later holding a glass of wine for Maura and a beer for herself.
"Where did you get the beer from? I don't have any in my fridge."
"I kinda figured you wouldn't, so I bought some before I came over." Maura fell back into her seat. She noticed Jane had chosen to sit rather close to her. Maura was sat at one end of the couch, which left the rest for Jane to choose from, and she had chosen to seat so close to Maura their knees were touching. "So, Maura I've practically told you my life story, and yet I still know very little about you. Would you care to fix that little problem?" Maura smirked, and shuffled slightly so she could lean forward closer to Jane.
"I thought you said you did your homework on me." The smirk never left Maura's lips as she noticed how Jane was physically reacting to the close proximity. The dilated eyes. The shortened breaths. The reddened cheeks. Maura was certain that Jane wanted her. But she doubted Jane would make the first move. She was too much of a gentleman to do it. She knew now wasn't the right time though.
"I may have done my homework. But there is only so much you can read from the internet. I want to get the chance to know the real you." Jane leaned closer as if challenging Maura to do more. And Maura was taking the bait.
"Well let's see. The real me? I guess you could say I am daring. I am rarely wrong. But the main thing you should probably know about me, is that when I see something I like I usually get. So when someone comes along and makes me work for what I want," Maura leaned forward again, but Jane leant back to keep the same distance. She was teasing, and she knew it. "I don't like to be challenged. But it just makes it more satisfying when I win." Maura moved forward once again, and this time Jane didn't move. There was barely an inch between them now.
"So Maura Isles. This thing you want? It wouldn't happen to come in the form of a tall, dark and handsome woman now would it?"
"It might. Now will you let me claim my prize, or do I have more ground work to do first?" Jane pretended to contemplate it for a moment before answering.
"No. I think you've earned your reward. I know I certainly have." Maura smiled and laughed slightly.
"Then shut up and let me kiss you." Maura finally closed the distance between the two of them and joined their lips together. Maura could taste the sauce still on Jane's lip, from dinner. But she could also taste something that was just Jane. And it made her moan. It made her moan deep from within herself. It was almost animalistic. Jane's reaction to Maura wasn't much different. She threaded her fingers into Maura's perfectly waved, golden hair. Her senses were being overloaded with everything that was Maura. Her touch. Her smell. But her taste was something completely new to Jane. And she couldn't get enough of it. When oxygen became a need for both of them, they pulled apart. Both panting trying to catch their breath. Jane kept her hands in Maura's hair as she felt Maura's hands come to rest on her hips. Jane was the first to gain enough composure to speak.
"So, are you happy with the prize?" Maura liked her lips trying to get every last taste of Jane that she could.
"Mmm. More than you know." Maura bit her lip to keep herself from moaning again. "What do you say we move this to a slightly more comfortable setting?"
"I'm going to have to say no." Maura's face instantly dropped. That wasn't the answer she was looking for. "Someone as beautiful as you deserves to be wooed and cherished before being taken to bed. So I am afraid that sex in the first date is not something that is going to happen." Maura listened as Jane talked and smiled.
"You know? If I had given anyone else this offer, they would have snapped it up in a heartbeat. And yet you sit here and tell me you want to woo me. I get the feeling you are looking for a little more than to just have sex."
"And you would be correct." Jane pulled back slightly and lowered her hands from Maura's hair to rest them on Maura's legs. "I really like you Maura. I know it sounds stupid because we haven't really known each other for long, but I would rather not rush this."
"I don't think I have ever met anyone quite as sweet as you. I would be more than happy to be wooed by you. In fact I would feel honoured."
"Good. So for now, why don't we choose a movie, and we can snuggle on the couch. Sound good?" Maura leaned in took Jane's lips in a chaste kiss.
"That sounds perfect." And with that, the rest of the evening went on in stolen kisses, and warm cuddles. It was the perfect end to the perfect evening…for both women.

A/N – So, a really long chapter. Not really sure where the idea came from, but I liked it. I wanted it to be sweet, and I think if I did a smut scene it would have lost the sweetness and just have been sexiness. Anyway. Reviews. Tell me what you thought.
