Chapter 6: The pain of Abbey's loss
Abbey lay in the bed room looking up at the ceiling as she started to remember the way her father was laying at her once called home. The way her father's face was down on the floor, that the blue blood that was coming out of her father's body was spreading everywhere, and the way his hands were looking like he was trying to reach out to something. As then Abbey couldn't hide her feelings anymore; she started to whale out with tears streaming down her face, and screaming out things to no one there to answer her. She starts to feel her voice to become horse as she gasped for air, and then Anna came into the room with a cup of tea in her hand as she spoke sweetly "Here dear I figured that you needed this, and I've already sent a letter to the headmistress of Monster High that you won't be coming to school today." All Abbey could do is shake her head and took the tea. Anna looked at her sadly as she walked away from Abbey to just give her peace.
Niko looked back at his aunt as he said "How is she doing? I didn't want to walk in there and ask her if she knew what happened" as then Anna put her hand up and then back down. Anna looked at her nephew sadly as she said "Niko I'm afraid that Abbey might not be in the mood to talk about what happened to her father. I really think that she might need a little time to herself just for now" Niko looked at his aunt sadly as he replied back with "She can take all the time she needs, I don't want to push her. I'll just go for a walk if that is okay" Anna nodded as she watched her nephew walk away from her. Anna knew that Abbey need some time to herself, but she also knew that Niko would feel like all of this would have been his fault. But she knew that deep down that this wasn't his fault, and she need to talk to someone about what just happened.
So Anna went down the stairs of the palace as Olaf said "Anna what are you doing?" Anna replied with "I'm going to see my sister" as she continued down the stairs and into where the pillars lie. Anna called out "Elsa, Elsa I need to talk to you. So many things have happened today, and we don't know what to do" as then an image appeared in front of Anna as she watched the scene unfold in front of her. She watched Abbey's father talking to a woman in Abbey's home for a while as then Anna gasped as she then watched the woman kill Abbey's father. Anna looked at the woman carefully as then she started to realized who the woman was, and so she ran up the stairs to go tell Kristoff of what she had just found out.
Back at Monster High
Frankie was looking at her monster phone to see if any messages from Abbey came, but sadly nothing came. Lagoona came up to Frankie as she put her hand on Frankie's shoulder as she said "What's wrong mate? You look like someone who got a croc of a problem." Frankie looked up at Lagoona as she replied back with "I was waiting for Abbey to either give me a text or a phone call but I didn't get anything from her. I think something happened to Abbey; if she hasn't been able to answer her phone, and I can't help it that it has to do with that Niko person." As if on cue Niko showed up in front of the school looking like someone had shot him and both Frankie as well a Lagoona could feel that something was wrong. Both of the girls went up to Niko as Lagoona said "Did something happen to Abbey? You look like you saw a ghost" Niko looked up at them, and that is when Headmistress Bloodgood appeared out of nowhere looking at Niko sadly. It was then that both Frankie and Lagoona knew that something was wrong the minute Bloodgood came up to Niko looking at him sadly.
Bloodgood looked at the two ghouls as she said "Ladies please head to class, I need to talk to Niko alone." It was then that both Frankie and Lagoona walked up the steps of the school when they heard Niko say "I'm sorry Headmistress but Abbey won't be coming to school today, because she is morning her father right now." Frankie gasped as Lagoona looked sadly to the school as they both realized the pain that Abbey must be going through as they went into the school. Both of the girls knew that they had to tell their friends about what happened to Abbey, and that they had to do it soon so that they would figure out how to make Abbey feel better.
Meanwhile back at Niko's palace
Niko came home to see his dear aunt looking at him sadly as he spoke "How is Abbey doing?" Anna shook her head as she replied back with "I'm afraid she isn't doing really well right now. The poor thing hasn't stopped crying since we got her here." Niko knew that deep down that Abbey would never get better ever since Abbey's father died. Niko looked back at his aunt as he continued "Has anyone done anything for Abbey's father's funeral? I mean since Abbey can't" Niko just couldn't finish that sentence knowing how much pain Abbey must have been feeling. Anna went up to Niko and put her hand on his shoulder as she said "It's okay, I've already made some of the preparations for Abbey's father's funeral. All we have to do is be there and say our last words. I also learned that Abbey's father was I believe that he was murdered by someone, but I don't know who the woman is that was with him. Niko, I feel like we should not let Abbey go back school in less she is ready." Niko look away from his aunt as he realized that she was right; deep down he knew that Abbey wasn't ready to go back to school with the pain of the loss of her father had become, and he also knew that she was in too much pain to even move right now. Anna knew that her nephew was smart and she knew that he would do what was right as she watched her nephew walked away from her sight.
Niko went to Abbey's room as he stopped at her door and knocked on it as he said "Abbey may I come in" there was nothing at first, but then he heard crying from Abbey's room. Niko kicked down the door to see that Abbey was lying on the bed as he noticed that she had been crying the whole entire day. Niko ran to the bed as he said "Abbey are you alright" as then Abbey looked up with glossy eyes as she breathed out "Niko?" Niko then put his arms around her as he hugged her and whispered "It'll be okay Abbey, It'll be okay my aunt, Uncle Kristoff, and I will help take good care of you." Abbey sadly couldn't stop herself from crying into Niko's chest as she replied back whimpering out "I can't stop thinking about my father, and how he died in the house that I was born in. Why couldn't I have saved him? Why couldn't" Niko then rubbed her back as he said "There was nothing that you couldn't have done, how were either of us supposed to have known that your father have been died. There was a blizzard yesterday and my aunt wasn't going to let you out there. It was a mess out there and I didn't want you to go" Niko couldn't bring himself to say what he wanted to say, but as then Abbey looked up to him as she replied back with "You didn't want me to get caught up in the storm." Niko could only nod as he watched Abbey lay on his chest as he looked up in the room to see how the room looked. It had a beautiful white glow as with all the hint of blue going through it. Niko sighed as he felt Abbey breathing on his chest with the feeling of sadness as he looked down to see Abbey tearing up again; which he knew that she was thinking of her father again. As then both Niko and Abbey heard someone coming into the room which was Anna as she said "Abbey your friends are here to see you."
Both Abbey and Niko left the room and went into the dining room where all of Abbey's friends were waiting for her. Abbey looked at them with shock as Lagoona ran over to her and gave her a hug as Frankie spoke "We all heard everything that happened to you, so sorry Niko Lagoona and I heard you talking to Headmistress Blood good. We wanted to see if you were okay, and when Miss Anna told us that you weren't feeling well we just had to see you. Oh Abbey, we don't want you to feel like that you're alone" that is when Draculaura spoke out "Yes we wanted to come cheer you up. Oh Abbey you poor thing" as then Clawdeen, Frankie, and even Draculaura joined Lagoona in the hug of hugging Abbey. Abbey then brought her hands around her friends, and cried with her friends comforting her. Niko could not understand that her friends would do something like come over and give Abbey a hug as then his aunt came up from behind him as she said "Niko it's because they are really good friends, and that they treat each other like they should treat each other. This is something that you should learn from them Niko" he knew that his aunt was right and that he would learn from them. Niko walked up to them as he said "Maybe you guys could help Abbey with her work from school? If that is alright with you Abbey" all Abbey could do was nod as all of the girls went into the next room to help Abbey with her school work.
Abbey sat at the table as she focus on her work from school as all her other ghoul friends helped her. After a while Lagoona spoke sweetly "So mate how is Niko doing" Abbey looked up at the girls as she said "He's doing fine why do you ask" all of the girls giggled as Abbey looked at them weird. Frankie spoke up next "Oh it's just that we could see the way he was taking your stuff from Blood good. It's obvious that he really does care about you, and we were wondering if" Abbey knew what exactly what all of them were thinking so she decided to ease their minds. Abbey looked at all of them as she said "Well we did kiss, but it might not mean anything." All of the girls looked at her as Clawdeen spoke out "You mean to tell me that you kissed him? Abbey, that means that you guys are boyfriend and girlfriend now." Abbey just looked at them weird as she spoke out "No, no that's not it. And besides it just only happened once; it doesn't mean anything and we weren't thinking and" as then all of the girls smirked as Abbey put it together. Abbey then looked away from them as she said "I need to get this done, so why don't we continue to work" as then all of the girls continue to help Abbey with her school work until they had to go home.
That very night Abbey went to bed as did Niko in a separate room; but Abbey put on a nightgown and did what she usually did to go to bed. Abbey then lay on the bed thinking of what the girls had told her, but it was only for a second as she started to fall asleep. That is when the horror began in her dreams of what had happened to her father.
Abbey's Nightmare
Abbey's dream started off in her house in the Alps; she would walk in to her house like she usually did, but something was off as she walked in to see that her father was standing there. Abbey looked at her father for the first time as she noticed that he was really pail with his hand holding his chest. Abbey spoke comely "Papa is something wrong" as then she watched in horror as her father looked up at her with glossy eyes. Her father spoke in a ghostly tone "Abbey why didn't you save me? Why didn't you come home like you were supposed to Abbey? Abbey why didn't you save me" Abbey tried to tell you father, but nothing came out of her mouth. As then Abbey watched her father tried to get near her as he kept repeating everything he just said. Abbey tried to get away from her father, but she just couldn't move as her father got closer and closer. Abbey yelled out "I wanted to save you, but I just couldn't Papa. There was a blizzard earlier and I couldn't come home to you" as then Abbey felt her father put his arms around her as he yelled out "Then you have let me die my dearest daughter, and now I will let you die. You will die from you sins of what you have done!" Abbey gasped out "No Papa please, don't" as then Abbey could feel her father put his bloody hands around her neck as she tried to gasped for air. As then she felt something rock her, but that wouldn't make any since until she heard a voice call to her. The voice spoke "Abbey wake up, Abbey you're having a dream. Abbey you need to wake up right now" all Abbey could do was scream her heart out.
End of Abbey's Nightmare
Abbey jolted up from her dream as she realized that both Niko and Anna were in her room with her. She looked at them oddly as Niko looked back at her as he said "Abbey, you're safe now. You're still in my palace and you just had a nightmare." Abbey didn't know what to think but to lay her head on Niko's chest and cried. She heard Niko's aunt spoke in a kind tone "I'll get her a glass of water" and then heard her leave the room. Abbey continued to cry as Niko soothed her back by rubbing it, but then after Abbey finally got herself to come down she finally spoke "Niko, I dreamt of my father and that I was back at my house where he was murdered. It was like my father blamed me for his death, and that he was going to kill me. He had said that it was because of my 'sins' that he" Niko only whispered in her ear with "Don't worry about that right now, and if you ask me you don't have any sins Abbey. I don't think you would have, you have to stop blaming yourself of this." Abbey looked up at him as she replied "I think I need to go back to school tomorrow" Niko was taken back from this, but recovered by saying "Abbey I don't think that would be a good idea. You're still morning" but it was Abbey who looked at him with coldness as she said "I need to keep my mind on other things, and not thinking of my father and of his death."
Niko got up from the bed that Abbey was lying in as he said "Then I think that I should let you sleep then." As he was about to leave the room Abbey grabbed his hand as she said "Wait, please don't leave yet. Stay with me until I fall back to sleep again" as if not to be told twice Niko sat in a chair that the room had and watched as Abbey laid back on the bed.
Few minutes later Anna came back to the room to see that Abbey had fallen asleep and Niko sitting in the chair. Anna went up to Niko as she whispered "Sweetheart you should go and rest right now." Niko looked up at her as he nodded he got up from the chair and starched his arms and looked back at his aunt as he said "Abbey wants to go back to school tomorrow" Anna looked at her nephew sadly as she replied back with "So she has decided on it. What are you going to do about that my dear nephew?" Niko looked away from his aunt but to Abbey who was sleeping as he said "I think I'll do as she wishes and let her go. But I think we should let her friends know and to inform them that if they need me to have them call me." As then Anna watched Niko leave Abbey's room; making her feel so much prouder of him. Anna then walked over to the nightstand near Abbey's bed and placed the glass of warm milk on it; then she walked around the bed as she whispered into Abbey's ear "Please have good dreams dear." After Anna had what she needed to say to Abbey as she walked out of the room and closing the door behind her.
The Next Day
Abbey woke up to see that the day light was coming in so she went out of bed and got dressed. She immediately got out of the room and left Niko's palace to get to school without Niko and Anna knowing that she left. Abbey finally got to Monster High as then Frankie noticed that Abbey came to school which she felt in her heart that Abbey shouldn't have come today. As Frankie was about to get to Abbey; Abbey walked past her and went to class which only made Frankie worried about her friend even more.
Niko woke up and went into Abbey's room when he noticed that she was gone. He went out of the room that Abbey was staying in and went up to his aunt for some of advice. He looked up to see that his aunt was with Uncle Kristoff talking about something. Niko walked behind a pillar as he heard his aunt and uncle talking. Anna spoke "I really think we should tell him that his mother has been inside of the pillar, and that Abbey's father was murdered." Kristoff replied back with "Anna you know how he reacted when you told him what Elsa did to him, and he still hasn't believed or forgiven us of what happen. So if you think he'd be upset, but think if you end up telling Abbey that her own father was in fact murdered don't you think that she would react very insane right now. It's obvious that she's upset right now, and may take it the wrong way, or that she might end up trying to find the murder." This only made Niko upset but then heard his aunt again "Oh Kristoff, I really believe that Abbey has a right to know that her father was in fact murdered, even though I don't know who the woman that murdered him was but I do know that we should tell her. I also think that we really need for Niko to understand . . . no we need to show him the Elsa is still here in his palace. He needs this Kristoff, and I don't want to keep any secrets from him anymore even if he doesn't listen to me." Just as Niko was about go and confront them he felt something in the his heart that Abbey needed him, so he ran out of his palace and then went to school that Abbey went to.
Back at Monster High
Abbey finally got out of her first class as she noticed that one of the vampires was saying something about her father. The snobby vampire spoke out "Poor little Abbey, who's lost her father. If you ask me that bitch deserves it, her father was a bum anyway." Abbey stood there looked at the two vampires oddly when it happened; Toralei was just to go up to Abbey to tell her how sorry she was for her loss when a shot of blue light hit her, and in return Frankie as well as Lagoona heard Toralei yelled out a sound. Toralei looked at Frankie as she said in an honest tone "All I was going to do was tell her that I was sorry for her loss, but something is wrong with Abbey" as then both Lagoona and Frankie looked up to see what Toralei was talking about. Abbey was covered in the blue light her outfit had turned into a dress with slits everywhere, but not affective because of the leggings. Abbey's hair was the same but more like the northern lights, then the dress had bell sleeves and fur as the cuffs and the hem of the dress. The color of the dress is in fact an icy blue that glittered as the light was hitting everywhere. They watched in horror as Abbey walked down the hallways spraying ice everywhere in her wake. Frankie looked at Lagoona as she said "We have to stop her, and I think I might know exactly who to call" then Lagoona replied back with "I'll try to calm her down, go call Niko we may need his help" as then both of them went their separate ways to try to stop Abbey from racking the school.
Abbey continued to form an icy path in her wake as she walked down the halls as then Cleo came out of one of the classroom as she looked up to see that Abbey wasn't herself as she said "Oh Abbey I didn't know you were here today" as then Abbey turned her head to look at Cleo as she spoke in a tone that scared Cleo to death or live. Cleo screamed out as she watched Abbey walked away from Cleo's site. Lagoona ran up to Cleo as she yelled out "Mate did you see Abbey?" All Cleo could do was point in the direction of where Abbey went as Lagoona ran after Abbey's path. Abbey's icy path froze everything as Twilight (Howleen's friend) came out of the classroom that she was in when she noticed that Abbey was acting weird as she went up to her saying "Abbey are you okay" as then Abbey looked at the little ghoul as she spoke in a weird tongue "Hetalama" Twilight looked at her weird as she replied back "Abbey I don't understand what you're saying". As then Abbey's voice came ringing in "You little one, are you the one who has sin. Who has done wrong in this world" as then Twilight walked back as she whispered out "No" as then Abbey's ranged out "Then I have no need for you." As then a spray of ice came out of her hands and almost hit Twilight as she yelped. She watched Abbey walk away from her site and down the hallway with the icy path behind her. As then Lagoona appeared in front of Twilight as she said "Did Abbey come this way, please tell me that she didn't do anything to hurt anyone" Twilight looked at Lagoona sadly as she said "No, but she almost hit me. I have a really bad feeling about this." Lagoona looked in the direction of Abbey's icy path as she replied with "Abbey came to school today, Frankie and I noticed something strange happen to her when the two snobby vampires said something. The problem is that we don't know as to how it got started." They both hoped that Abbey didn't do anything to hurt or harm the school in anyway as the run in the direction of the icy path.
Abbey came outside and stood in the middle of the school grounds as then Gil saw her with her hand stretched out with ice spraying out of it. Gil looked up at Abbey as he said "Abbey are you okay" that is when Headmistress Bloodgood came running out with Frankie and the other ghouls yelling out "Abbey don't do this. You know that this isn't right, please stop this" but Abbey did not look at them as if she didn't even heard them; it was if she didn't even recognized them as she spoke in a almighty voice "They mocked me, they slain my father, they must pay for their sins." As then Niko appeared in front of everyone as he looked up to Abbey as he spoke only to Abbey "Abbey look at me, it's okay you're safe now. Come with me, it'll be okay and I'll take you home." Abbey looked at him as she said in a hushed voice "Niko, Niko those two girls mocked my father's death. They must pay for their sins" Niko put his staff behind him as he went up to Abbey and took her by the waist with his other hand and said "I know Abbey, I know what those two ladies have said to you and it was wrong of them. But you mustn't do this; you're not a kind of person that would hurt anyone. Come Abbey, we'll go home right now and relax please Abbey come home with me." Abbey looked into his eyes as she saw solace in him as she let the power release from her as the blue light flu out of her and into the sky as then she passed out from the power that came from her.
Abbey fell into Niko's arms as he held her in his arms as he looked at her with sadness. Niko looked up at the headmistress as he said "I'm sorry, but I think I should take her home now to my place. It would be for the best if she doesn't come back until she's ready to come back to the school. She only thought that it would have helped if", but sadly Headmistress Bloodgood already knew what Niko meant even just before he could finish it. Headmistress Bloodgood spoke in a sad tone "Abbey thought it would be best if she was busy with school work and kept her mind off of her father's death. I must agree with you Niko; Abbey must stay at whatever she's staying at, and only come back to school when she is ready to come back. We will make sure that Abbey will get her school work, and we will make sure that she doesn't have set foot on to this school as well." Niko only nodded as he vanished with Abbey in his arms as Headmistress Bloodgood can only look up sadly as she felt so bad for Abbey's loss.
Abbey woke up in a strange room with blue draping as then she realized that she was in fact in her room in Niko's palace. She looked up to see that Niko was sitting at the edge of her bed as he spoke sweetly "How are you feeling?" Abbey looked down at her blanket as she whispered out "I don't know have I harmed anyone" Niko toke her hand as he whispered out only to her "No one got hurt, only got scared of your ability." Abbey looked up at Niko as she said "Scared of my ability? But I don't really remember anything, except when I was at the beginning of school. What happen to me" Niko looked at her oddly as he said "Then why did you say that if you harmed anyone then" Abbey looked down at the blanket again as she said "I had a feeling that something I had done was bad." Niko looked at her sweetly as he rubbed his fingers on her hand as he said "Trust me you didn't hurt anyone Abbey, and well" Abbey looked up again as she said again "Tell me, please". Niko smiled at her lovingly as he continued "Well you were in this blue light, and the outfit you were wearing was beautiful too. You even spoke in a tone authority, and then I helped you release that powerful light that was coming from you." She smiled at him sweetly as she said "Niko I think I want" but Niko finished her sentence as he replied "to get some rest. I'll be right in the living room area if you need me Abbey." Abbey nodded as she lay down on the bed as Niko left the room.
Niko went to the living room as Anna waiting for him as she said "How is Abbey" Niko only looked at her sincerely as he said "She's okay, but she wanted some rest. So I told her if she needed anything I would be out here." Anna walked over to Niko and gave him a hug as Niko felt the warmth that he had missed so much. He hugged back as he knew that everything would be okay for now.
