Chapter 25 Girl Power
While Naruto and Temari were on the train heading towards the land of Bronze to get supplies to help build their new village, work had not stopped for Ino, Choji and Shikamaru. Shikamaru and Choji where currently in the valley mapping it out to her and deciding where the village/farms will go, Ino was given a guided tour of the major village in the land of Granite.
"My God." whispered Ino as she lifted a wet rag to her face to try to remove the smell will of the human waste which floated down small canals cut into the sides of the street. The conditions of the village was worse than any of the refugee camps she had seen during the war in the North, it wasn't fit for swine yet alone people. Yet children ran barefoot through the waste covered streets all the while broken pieces of wood some of which with nails sticking out of them falling from the poorly maintained housing.
"As you can see, my lady conditions here are not the greatest." Explained one of the village counselors and older man with a massive balding spot on top of his short body which he tried to cover up with a very bad the comb-over. "We have lost most of our city maintenance equipment to poor maintenance and old age. Only a few homes have both electricity and running water due to this. Most of our people are crammed into these buildings here and use chamber pots or other means to remove their waste."
"This is unacceptable, no one should have to live like this." Stated Ino as she looked at the mass of hungry, dirty and desperate people who were gathering around to look at her. "Did the old Daimyo try to fix any of these problems?"
"My lady, he had his own problems to deal with and you solve them when you bought this nation." Explained the counselor as he, Ino and the rest of the village council moving throughout the village showing the conditions to their new leader. Each district of the village seem to be worse than the last the people more desperate than the last and it broke Ino's heart to see the state of the children. One moment which stuck out in her mind was when she saw all a young girl covered with what she hoped was dirt playing with a headless doll all the while her older brother was picking through the garbage behind her. Finally they headed out of the village and into the area set aside for the mining operation that the previous Daimyo had his family's mining operation.
Ino stopped at the edge of the strip mine, before her was a massive hole full of different mining equipment and large finished cuts of different types of stone and granite. In the distance she could see where the miner were still working cutting manageable blocks of stone from the ground and finishing them to be sold as construction material.
"Question?" asked Ino as she turned to the counselor "We have all the stones here right?"
"Right" responded the counselor as he looked at the massive amount of stones of all different sizes and there was even a massive piles of bricks just sitting there unused. "The old Daimyo is saving them for whenever a customer comes down to buy them to be used up north in different buildings. However business has been slow for a long time and we have quite a large stockpile built up, in fact we had let most of our staff go because the lack of work."
"What about using them here?" asked Ino as has she looked over her shoulder at the village she had just left "See in the land of Fire we used wood to build our buildings but we don't have the forests here like we do up north, what we have is a rock. We can use every one of those stones down there to make a new village for everyone."
"My lady, we have thought about that but the Daimyo forbid it because it would destroy an already struggling business and none of the people here can afford the stones needed to build a home." Explained the counselor as Ino lowered her head and placed her hand under her chin. Her long blonde bangs partly covering one of her eyes.
"Is there a representative of the miners?" asked Ino has she turned to the counselor.
"Yes my lady I am the representative." confirmed the counselor as Ino smiled.
"Good then I have a deal to offer you." offered Ino
"What is the deal my lady?" asked the counselor
"I personally don't care if this business loses money at the moment, the lives and well-being of the people in this village matters more to me." Explained Ino as she placed her hands behind her back "I want you to explain this offer to the workers. In return for working extra eight unpaid hours a week for every five stones that are cut from the mine three of them will be used to build a new village for them, their families, friends and neighbors to live in. The other two will be used by my people to make a second village on the island. Will that be agreeable?"
"My lady they already work between 60 and 70 hours a week already another eight hours would push them beyond the edge if they haven't already reached it." explained the counselor as Ino nodded her head.
"I see, in that case how about in exchange for the stones everyone will work on a 48 hour week while being paid for 40 hours? All the while bringing back all the laid-off workers and paying everyone the same salary they have now apart from the eight unpaid hours?" Countered offered Ino as she looked at the counselor who had a stunned expression on his face surprised at the generosity of the deal that this new young Daimyo was offering them.
"That should be more than acceptable. We would be fools to refuse however who do we decide gets the stones first and how do we decide which building gets remodeled first?" Asked the counselor
"We aren't remodeling anything." Stated Ino as she looked at another of the counselors "if I remember correctly you said you were the city planner?"
"Yes my Lady Daimyo." Confirmed the female city planner
"Well then, I need you to start planning to build a new village for everyone near the gates of hell. That village behind us is unfit for anyone to live in and will be torn down the moment the new village is ready." ordered Ino knowing that more than likely Shikamaru was planning to build a bridge across the narrow gap between the mainland and the island allowing for easier crossing between the two. "Making sure to leave areas open for a bridge across the gap and some defenses around it along with the fences around the village itself. Also make sure you leave spaces open for parks and make this village the equal of any of the major villages in the world."
"I can do that, Lady Daimyo" confirmed the planner as she just grinned as ideas flowed like water into her mind. As the city began to form in her mind.
"Good I want your basic outline of the city done within a week." ordered Ino knowing that while they had stones to build the village they would still need tons of supplies in a form of pipes, wood and other building supplies required to build a village. However they were already going to get a lot of supplies to build their own village on the island on the island, luckily the land of bronze would sell them the supplies no questions asked.
Hours later nights was fast approaching as people all over the Leaf Village headed home or enjoyed one of the last warm nights before the fast approaching winter. Moving through the darkening streets was Sakura Haruno as she headed towards a meeting she never wanted to do but had to do. She turned down an alleyway before moving towards a half broken door. She moved into the darkened building pausing for a moment so that her eyes could adjust to the darkness. Soon shapes of broken furniture and the features of the room came into focus.
"So you can?" stated a voice from the darkness as Sakura's head snapped towards the voice. Within moments of figure dressed in a long trench coat and sun glasses stepped out of the corner.
"Dammit Shino, do you always have to freak people out like that?" complained Sakura as her friend shrugged his shoulders.
"You're the one who asked for a meeting, why are you surprised that I'm here?" Noted Shino as he moved into a brighter area of the room.
"And you pick the location." countered Sakura "now let's get to business, have you gone over my plan for the evacuation?"
"Yes." confirmed Shino "it is a good plan is however I am surprised that you would come up with it. Considering that a key part your plan involves the likelihood that…"
"I know my own plan." snapped Sakura as she took a deep breath "and I don't like it either but it has to be done and hopefully the first part of my plan will work."
"Very well, I will carry out my part of the plan." confirmed Shino at he placed his hands into his pockets "and the others should have no problem with it."
"Good, good you couldn't take out their radios the whole plan would be for nothing." observed Sakura
"Any word from Naruto yet?" asked Shino as Sakura shook her head.
"No, Naruto-kun is supposed to use his shadow clone shared memory to pass a message onto us." explained Sakura "however I would suspect a message within the next day or two."
"Hopefully we have a new home and away to get there." confirmed Shino "I have received information from my insects about what is happening in the other nations, apparently all of our people in the land of lightning have disappeared."
"Really?" asked Sakura "Any idea where they went?"
"No, however the situations in the other nations are not well. In the land of water our people are now confined to an island prison, in the land of Earth there are reports of multiple small camps and armed uprisings." reported Shino as the young female ninja nodded her head.
"If we don't get a new home soon we may have armed uprisings here." added Sakura knowing that at most of the strongest ninjas in the village had demons joined with them, however they were still outnumbered almost 5 to 1 and it would cost hundreds if not thousands of lives on both sides.
"He at least the tunnel is almost finished and undetected." reassured Shino
"How is it that no members of the Hyuga clan and their byakugan has found the tunnel yet?" inquired Sakura
"You can thank Hinata for that." stated Shino "now I better be going."
With that Shino disappeared back into the darkness as Sakura shook her head a bit.
"Damn he can be creepy sometimes." Thought Sakura as she headed out of the room and back into the alleyway. She quickly headed back into the main street only to find herself surrounded by five ANBU ninjas.
"Sakura Haruno you need to come with us." Ordered the lead ANBU as she gripped the katana on her back.
"And what if I say no?" asked Sakura defiantly as she looked through the small slits in the white mask of the ANBU.
"Then we will take you by force." Confirmed the lead ANBU "are you going to make us use force?"
"No." confirmed Sakura "lead the way."
A few hundred yards away near the corner of the outer wall Hinata Hyuga sat at a small table with an ink well and brush in a long strip of sealing paper. Her wrists were hurting from hours of constant brushstrokes, finally she put the brush down grabbing her wrist as she leaned back in his chair.
"That's it, I'm done for tonight." said Hinata as she applied some healing chakra to her sore wrist.
"We can't thank you enough for doing this." confirmed Tenten as she picked up the finished sealing paper "I still can't believe your clan developed a way to block their own bloodline ability. It doesn't make sense, was it because of the war?"
"Actually we developed this generation's ago." admitted Hinata as she looked at her cousin's future wife. "Mostly we use it around our houses so that no one can spy on us. It's actually against clan rules to use it outside of the compound and without the permission of the clan Council."
"Well I guess the clan Council rules don't matter anymore to us." pointed out Tenten "no need to worry about punishment for using it now."
"Well…"said Hinata as she stretched a bit "I have used it without their permission before."
Tenten raised an eyebrow at the idea that the heiress of the Hyuga clan would go and dance the wishes and orders of her own clan Council.
"When?" asked Tenten wondering when she had broken the rules and why she had done it.
"It's kind of embarrassing." admitted Hinata "but one time when I was 12 or 13 years old I snuck into Naruto-kun's apartment and place the seals are round his place."
"So you broke into the apartment of your crush and you place seals on the walls to prevent you from spying on him?" asked Tenten with a slight smile "didn't you want to see everything he had?"
"Yes and I still do." confirmed Hinata with a deep blush "I may of spied on him outside of his apartment but I knew that Naruto-kun needed his privacy. Besides I kind of want to be surprised when we do get together."
"I see." stated Tenten "However you do know that now he has two women sleeping with him and I highly doubt that Ino and Sakura are ones to share him another person."
"Well I already have Ino on my side but Sakura is still on the fence about me joining them, I hope she decides to let me in and I have faith she will." admitted Hinata
"What about Naruto, doesn't have a say?" inquired Tenten as she looked at her friend.
"Of course he has a say." confirmed Hinata "however I know in my heart that if given the chance he will come to love me if he doesn't already. Besides there are there now three women for every male is in our new race."
Suddenly an uncharacteristic smirk crossed the young woman's face.
"Did you forget that both of Naruto-kun sensei's are legendary perverts besides there aren't many men who would turn down a chance to have three beautiful gorgeous women who want to sleep with him at the same time if they all agree to it." answered Hinata with a smirk "the question is will the three of us get along and who will be the dominant one but if need be I will give up being the first just to be with my beloved."
"I see." confirmed Tenten
"What about you, if another woman tried to join you and Neji would you allow it?" Inquired Hinata as Tenten placed her hand under her chin thinking about what she would do in the hypothetical situation.
"Personally I think I would share them." admitted Tenten "however I don't think he would want to share me."
Both women broke out laughing at the comment.
"Well according to Miki says it's uncommon but sometimes one woman has multiple males. Would Neji go along with that?" asked Hinata as Tenten smirked "What?"
"Who says we haven't done that?" asked Tenten as Hinata's mind started racing.
"You can't possibly mean Lee, Neji and you had a three-way before the arrival of the demons?" asked Hinata shocked at the idea.
"No." laughed Tenten as she turned and walked away heading back down the hidden tunnel to place the steal that would hide it from the Byakugan with the smirk on her face.
At that same moment Sakura sat at the head of the small wooden table in a brightly lit holding area by the main gate of the demon ghetto. The ANBU guards had left the room leaving her by herself. Time seem to drag on before the door leading out into the rest of the village opened up. Instantly a smile crossed her face as her Master Lady Tsunade walked into the room.
"Lady Tsunade." greeted Sakura with a warm smile on her face as she stood up and move toward her sensei as the two of them hugged. "What are you doing here?"
"Do I have to have a reason to see you?" stated Tsunade as the two of them separated.
"Normally yes, but nowadays people will look upon you visiting me or anyone else locked up in here as a sign of weakness which could jeopardize your position as Hokage." explained Sakura
"I have no worries about my position, I helped lead our people through the war they would have to be to try to remove me after that." lied Tsunade knowing full well that there was talk about removing her from the Hokage's chair but none of that mattered at the moment.
"Still you have to have a reason." Noted Sakura as Tsunade grinned before she pulled out nine small squirrels placing them on the table. Each of the scrolls had their own names written on them. Instantly Sakura's eyes locked on a scroll with her own name on it along with one with Ino's.
"I had most of these made before all this happened I little surprise gift for you all when the 4th Hokage's festival came around." explained Tsunade as her eyes scanned over the scrolls with the names of their owners written on them along with herself and Ino's scroll there was one for Hinata, Temari, Tenten, Karin, Rin and Tamaki "Luckily I was able to get a scroll ready for both Rin and Tamaki. Didn't want them to be left out when Shizune and Karin get theirs."
"What is in here?" asked Sakura as she held her scroll in her hands as she prepared to open it.
"Stop." order Tsunade as she grabbed her pupils and stopping her from opening the scroll. "Not here, in fact I don't want you to open them until you are all together and ready to have some "fun" with the guys."
"I see." Said Sakura with the smirk as she took all the scrolls "let me sad time thank you… Thank you for everything it was an honor to be your student."
"Just use what I've taught you to help the world and have a good life, that is all I've ever wanted you all of you to have." cried Tsuande as she embraced her student one last time.
Far to the north in the mountain valleys of the land of Earth at the heavy snow was falling from the sky blanketing everything. Moving slowly through the mountain passes was another group of refugees fleeing from one of the multiple prison camps spread out across the country. Watching them move from the top of the small rise was a leader of the group, her silted black eyes squinting to find everyone's through the snow fall.
"How much further do we have to go?" complained a voice as a young boy with the white hair looked up at the leader of the group.
"Our only hope is to get out of this nation as soon as possible." explained the leader as she tried not to shiver from the cold in front of the people in it attempts to give them hope "Our best chance of that is head south into the land of wind and down the continent until we reach our old homeland and the land of Granite."
"But that would take weeks, why don't we go by sea?" asked the Kid
"Because this time of year the icebergs and ice sheets coming from the north stops all see travel to our former country by sea." explained the leader "Now get moving, we have at least a three-week journey in front of us."
He then moved on leaving the leader standing there alone with her thoughts.
"You know that your grandfather will not let us leave this country peacefully." Said a voice in her head as Kurotsuchi lowered her head at the words of her demon.
Early the next morning in the land of bronze the train carrying Naruto shuddered as the train came to a stop spewing steam all over the platform blocking the outside world from Naruto's and Temari's vision for a short moment. Slowly the steam fair the way revealing to the two of them at dark dingy train station covered with ash and soot.
"People live here?" asked Naruto as he and Temari looked out at the massive amount of cash which covered the ground like snow and through some of the windows in the building they could see that outside it was the same as it was on the inside. Quickly the two of them disembarked the train only to be met at the platform by three men dressed in all-black clothes. The three of them had mask over the lower part of their faces not unlike Kakashi's only these where see through and had filters over them to allow easier breathing.
"Welcome to the land of bronze." Greeted the center man as Naruto and Temari tried not to cough at the massive amount of air pollution which filled their longings. "Our leadership has heard some rumors coming from the former Daimyo that the group you represent paid a surprisingly large amount for his land and that you were looking for some supplies."
"What we are?" inquired Temari
"If that is the case then we the representatives of the companies that own the land of Bronze are more than willing to fulfill any of your requests at a certain cost…of course" explained the man in the center
"We have made a list of what we require." explained Naruto as he handed the list that he and Temari had made during the night of all the supplies they would need to build a new villages and supporting the population of the land of Granite. Quickly the three men representatives scanned the list tallying up the total cost of all the supplies on the list.
"And more than likely we will need more supplies as time goes on. If you supply us now we may come back for more supplies." stated Temari as the three men smiled at the idea of a repeat costumer who seemed to have a lot of needs and a large pocket book.
"This is quite a list and it is very doable." explained one of the representatives as he placed his hands behind his back "Of course it will be very expensive."
"Name your price." stated Naruto as he tried not to gasp for air from all the pollution.
"How does 700 million in gold bars sound." offered one of the representatives as the other two agreement.
"Half now half on delivery." offered up Temari as a representatives nodded their heads in agreement.
"Agreed." confirmed one of the representatives
"We will even added bonus of say 10 million if who deliver the first shipment to the Land of Granite in two days and the ships that will carry me to the land of Fire leave today." Offered up Naruto as the three man smiled before the lead man offered his hand, which Naruto took at once.
"We have a deal."
