FOR THE GLORY OF SONTAR

"Yes! Come at me, lovely one! Soon we will engage in glorious battle!" Camazotz shouted as I ran toward him with a stake in my hand.

Let me tell you that I really don't like the way that he keeps calling me lovely. I mean if this thing thinks that he's going to make me into his bride, then he's got another thing coming. I'm going to be introducing my stake to his heart very, very soon now.

Even if I wasn't married, I would never ever in a million years be interested in the guy. I wanted to hit him with a rolled up newspaper every time that I looked at him.

Either that or a baseball bat.

Did I mention that I really, really hate bats? I just thought that it deserved repeating.

My repulsion for Bat Boy had to be pushed to the side though as I raced at him with my stake. He tried to bat me aside with a swipe of one of his huge clawed hands, but to his surprise he found his hand only going through thin air instead of me.

I had already leapt out of the way, flipped over his head, and landed behind him before he could even blink. I had moved so quickly that he never even saw me. Even as he stared at the spot where I used to be and tried to process the fact that I was no longer there, I was already grabbing him from behind and putting him into a headlock.

"Incredible. You truly are worthy of me," Camazotz said in an impressed voice.

"Let's get one thing straight right now. You're definitely not my type!" I shouted at him as I plunged my stake into his heart.

Instead of dying in horrible agony like I'd been hoping for though like all of the hateful scourge of bats and their kind deserve, Camazotz only began to laugh instead. He pulled the stake out of his chest and said, "I am not an ordinary vampire. I am a creature of the Vortex. I cannot be killed with a simple stake. I'm made of much sterner stuff. I am a creature of time itself just like you."

"I sense a challenge. I like a challenge. It will bring even greater glory to Sontar if I can kill you where even the greatest warrior of them all cannot. Sontar-Ha!" Strax shouted as he charged at Camazotz with guns blazing away in both hands.

I had to quickly get out of the way or I would have been blown to bits by Strax's little kamikaze attack. Camazotz meanwhile only laughed even as he was hit by multiple blasts of automatic energy fire at once. Enough power to blow apart an entire neighborhood was directed at him, and he just shrugged the blasts off as if they were mosquito bites.

"If that's all that the much vaunted Sontaran Empire can do, then all that I can do in response is to laugh at them. I mock them for their ineptitude. All Sontarans are incompetent children who play at being real warriors. None of them would last a minute against me in a real fight. I dare say that I could beat the entire army of Sontar all by myself!" Camazotz said.

"Oh, no he didn't!" I said.

I'd never seen Strax so angry before. He charged headfirst at Camazotz as he said, "I will tear you limb from limb! I will rip you apart with my bare hands and keep your head as my trophy. Tales will be told and songs will be sung about the glory of Strax on this day as he defended the reputation of the Sontarans against this lying upstart!"

"Strax, he's just trying to make you angry so that you'll fight him without thinking! It's what he wants you to do is to fight without a plan so you'll make a mistake!" Vastra warned him.

Strax didn't listen though. His blood was boiling so much that he couldn't even hear her. All he could think of was ripping Bat Boy apart.

Vastra had been right of course. Strax had gone in flailing away at Camazotz with no plan whatsoever and no regard at all for his own safety. As a result, Bat Boy quickly overcame Strax with a solid blow to the head that knocked him out cold in an instant.

"Now I'll show you what I think of your species, Sontaran," Camazotz said as he lifted the unconscious Strax over his knee and prepared to break him in two.

"You leave Mr. Strax alone!" Jenny shouted as she punched Camazotz in the face and then followed that up with a lightning fast karate chop to the neck that momentarily stunned him and made him drop Strax to the ground.

"It seems that whatever Camazotz is that he has the same pressure points as any other humanoid. Good work!" Vastra said as she looked at Jenny with pride.

That was when Vastra and Jenny both started attacking the still stunned Camazotz together with a series of lightning fast attacks to his solar plexus, lungs, and head. Both of them hammering away at those vital areas like that at once in rapid succession would have been enough to have taken any ordinary opponent out of action immediately if not for several months afterwards.

Unfortunately for them, Camazotz was not an ordinary opponent.

In one horrifying moment, I watched him grab both of them by the neck and hoist them up in the air together at once one in each hand. "Now the two of you are definitely most noble and worthy warriors unlike the Sontaran rabble. I respect both of you immensely. I'm afraid that I'm still going to have to kill you though. So who should it be first? Hmm? Maybe I should kill the human first or maybe I should save her for food and kill her later. I'm not sure if I could drink your blood or not, Silurian. I've never had one of your species for dinner before, but I'm willing to try a taste to find out." Camazotz said as he started drawing his mouth closer to Vastra's neck.

"Let them go. Now!" I commanded him in a cold voice.

"You wish to fight for their lives, don't you? Yes, the stories say that you never turn your back on your friends. It seems that everything that I've heard about you is true. Tell me, Sekhmet of Ravenscliff, is it also true that you have the power of perpetual bodily regeneration and that you can never die?" Camazotz said in an intrigued voice.

"That's what I've been told, and so far it's been true. Let my friends and all of my students go, and I'll give you what you really want. You want a fight with me. I know that. I'll fight you right here and now as long as you want if I know that they're safe," I said.

"A fight is not what I want, Sekhmet. What I want is your blood. Or rather what's in it. I want your immortality and the power of regeneration that comes with it. I want to become a Time Lord, and drinking your blood will give that to me," Camazotz said.

"Only if you can get to it first," I challenged him.

"I will truly enjoy what is to come. Both the prize and the battle itself will be well worth the effort that I'm about to put into getting them. First though I need a little something to keep up my strength. I think I'll drink the human first," Camazotz said.

Then he bit Jenny on the neck and started draining her blood. Vastra began struggling to free herself as she growled in anger. She wasn't the only one who was angry either.

I began to power up my regenerative energy and hurled a massive burst of it straight at him as I shouted, "So you want the power of regeneration? Well, here it is!"

Camazotz howled in pain at last as I continued to pour a massive dose of energy straight into his body. He dropped Jenny and Vastra immediately as he started to rush forward and attack me.

"Are you alright? Speak to me," Vastra asked Jenny in concern as she tried to wake the unconscious girl.

Vastra smiled as she could feel a regular pulse, and then her smile quickly turned to anger as she turned to glare at Camazotz while he fought with me. She was going to make him pay for what he had done. She would make sure that he suffered long and hard for harming her Jenny.

I was already making my contribution towards making him suffer myself as I poured an entire life cycle's worth of regenerative energy into his body and then some while he struggled with me. The two of us wrestled with each other relentlessly as I tried to keep him away from my neck and poured as much energy as I could into him to get him to drop me.

That was when Vastra came from behind him and wrapped her hands around his neck. She was now receiving a massive dose of my regenerative energy just by touching him, but she didn't care. She was going to make him pay for hurting Jenny even if it killed her. I immediately stopped attacking Camazotz with my energy for fear of killing Vastra and watched in fascination as she effortlessly used her superior strength to break his neck.

Camazotz slumped to the ground dead, but I could already see him trying to recover. His hands were twitching as he started coming back to life already.

"What can kill this beast?" Vastra asked in exasperation.

"According to him, nothing. There has to be something though. A Vortex shield always cuts Rose off from the Vortex. What if that will work on him too?" I said as a sudden idea struck me.

"A Vortex shield?" Vastra asked.

"It's a specially created material used to protect the occupants of some time machines from the effects of the Vortex. Time Lords never used it because TARDISes already have a natural protection and immunity to Vortex energy since they need it to function. Some human time travelers have used it however throughout Earth's history. It has been proven to be able to keep Vortex users from accessing and using their abilities in the past when it's brought near them. Maybe it'll work against inhabitants of the Vortex too," I said hopefully.

"Where do we get this Vortex shielding?" Vastra asked.

"I just happen to have some of it handy in my TARDIS. I took some of it so that I could see if I could come up with a way to let Rose keep her powers even when it was around. So far I haven't been successful with that though. Let's hope that I'm more successful here with this idea," I said as I pulled out my TARDIS remote.

I quickly brought my TARDIS to my side and ran inside to get the Vortex shield from my lab. Luckily I had taken a lot of it to experiment with. It was more than enough to cover Old Bat Boy with from head to toe in fact.

"Help me wrap him up in this while he's still dead," I said to Vastra.

We quickly covered his entire body in the Vortex shielding. As soon as we finished, Camazotz woke up dazed and confused.

"What the?! I can't see. What have you done? I'll kill all of your friends for this, Sekhmet, starting with the humans first. I will truly enjoy killing them right in front of you!" Camazotz said as he struggled to rip the shielding off of him.

That was when Vastra and I were both surprised as a hail of gunfire hit Camazotz repeatedly over and over again, and he screamed in pain and anger. I smiled as I saw Strax standing there opening fire on him with his twin guns over and over again.

Camazotz no longer had the protection that the power of the Vortex had provided him from Strax's attack before, and this time Strax finally killed him. More than that, he disintegrated him. I could see his body completely fall apart inside of the shielding.

I loved the irony. For all of his talk about not being a common, ordinary vampire, he had disintegrated into dust just like one anyway.

"Sontar-Ha! Sontar-Ha! Sontar-Ha! I have finally gained victory over the hated minion of the Moonites! They sent him here to destroy me, but now they know that nothing can stop a true warrior of Sontar!" Strax screamed in victory.

I smiled at him as I said, "Way to go, Strax. You really showed him the true might of the Sontaran Empire, didn't you? That's what he gets for disrespecting your people."

"Now I will take his ashes with me as a spoil of battle. I will gladly show it to others if they ever dare to question my honor in the future," Strax said happily.

"Will we ever be able to find the girls now though that he's gone?" Jenny asked in a weak voice as she woke up.

"Jenny, are you alright?" Vastra asked with concern.

"I'm fine. Just a little woozy. I've survived far worse though," Jenny said.

She smiled as Vastra hugged her tightly and wouldn't let go.

"To answer your question, I know exactly where they are. They're at the place where I first detected Camazotz earlier. I'm sure of it," I said.

"I hope so. Otherwise we might never find them now," Jenny said.

That was just like her. She was more worried about the girls than she was herself even though her neck was still bleeding from where she had been bitten.

Luckily, it turned out that I was right. I found the students and freed them from an abandoned warehouse that was exactly where I had first detected Camazotz's energy signature. They were all too weak to even walk, and we had to move them into the TARDIS in order to take them back home.

Needless to say I had to hypnotize them to forget all about the TARDIS and Camazotz. I gave them a new memory instead of being kidnapped and held hostage by someone whose face that they never saw.

I claimed to have found them entirely by accident, and luckily I was believed. A little hypnosis didn't hurt in making sure of that either.

I hated to do so much tampering with people's minds, but it wouldn't do to have a mass panic on our hands if the people of that time had found out that an alien had attacked the girls, would it? Not to mention what they might do to me if they found out who and what I am even though I'm the one who saved them. It would be Torchwood all over again.

"Jenny, I'm sorry for all of this. I never meant for you to be attacked like that. I'm going to give you a few days off of work to recover from Camazotz's attack," I said.

"No, that's okay, Miss Lily. I'll be there bright and early tomorrow morning just like always," Jenny said cheerfully.

"No, you won't," Vastra said in a stern voice.

"I have to," Jenny protested.

"I said that you're not going. You're going to take the time off that Lily has given to you to rest. Do you understand?" Vastra said firmly.

"Yes," Jenny said in an unhappy voice as she looked at me with a guilty expression.

"I'm sorry but it's for your own good," Vastra said in a gentler tone.

"It's okay. I'll be fine for a few days by myself," I said.

"I can always assist her," Strax volunteered.

"N-n-no, I'll be fine. There's no need for that," I said as a wave of pure terror filled my heart.

I was not going through that again!

I said good bye to Jenny, Vastra, and Strax as they went home, and I went back to the TARDIS. I briefly wondered how Violet was doing with Holly. I hoped that she was having better luck with her than I had in protecting Jenny.

As it turned out, she wasn't. Hers was much worse.

Violet was in her room in my/our ancestral House of Lupinesglen on Gallifrey trying hard to come up with a way to help Holly who was also staying there when Skaren burst into the room with a look of terror on his face.

"Violet, you have to do something right now to help Holly. She's losing her fight with Omega more and more by the moment. Just now I tried to give her a small hug just like I always do whenever I greet her in the morning, and she forced me off of her and pointed a staser at me. I actually thought that she was going to shoot me for a moment, and then she handed me the gun and started apologizing to me. She's in her room sobbing uncontrollably now. She doesn't even know how she got the staser or when. This has to end now. Omega is driving her insane," Skaren said in an emotional voice.

Violet immediately went to Holly's room to find Aishwana sitting on her bed with her holding her hand as she cried relentlessly. Violet's hearts ached as she could see the guilt and pain on our daughter's face over the suffering that Holly was going through. She knew that Aishwana was blaming herself for it.

"Violet will help you, Holly. I know she will. My Mum always comes through in the end, and Violet is my Mum," Aishwana said.

Violet smiled at this remark even as Holly seemed to cheer up as well. It seemed as if she had given them renewed hope. Omega of course was having no part of that. He just had to squash it.

Holly stiffened as Omega regained control of her and laughed. "She will fail. I have already gained partial control, and soon my control of this body will be complete and permanent. The woman that you know will be gone forever, and there's nothing that you can do about it. When I have her under my control at last, I will overthrow Gallifrey's inept government. I will become the head of the Time Lords just as I was always meant to be. You'll all be dead by the time this happens of course."

Violet had had enough, and she finally decided to use the only idea that she had to help Holly that just might work. She knew what the cost would be to her if she did this, but it was a price that she was willing to pay.

After all, she wasn't really me anyway. Just a copy. At least that's what she told herself at the time anyway.

It certainly wasn't how I felt. I thought of her as so much like me that I almost felt threatened at times as if I wasn't unique anymore. I didn't hold that against her though. I loved her like a sister.

It actually sounds slightly narcissistic, doesn't it?

Violet gathered her courage together and said, "Omega, I'm going to offer you a deal. I want you to take it and leave Holly alone. I guarantee that if you take this deal that none of us will try to stop you from leaving here."

"I'm listening. What is your deal?" Omega asked.

"Wouldn't you rather have a Time Lord body instead of a human one? Take my body and leave hers, Omega. If you do, I won't fight you at all as long as you leave my friends alone and don't harm them. Do we have a deal?" Violet asked.

"No!" Aishwana and Skaren both shouted at once.

"I want to do this. I don't matter but Holly does. Don't try and stop me. Promise that you'll keep out of it," Violet said.

"No, I won't do any such thing. You're not going anywhere," Aishwana said firmly.

"I won't let you do it either. Holly would be devastated if she found out that she was only freed by losing you," Skaren said.

"It isn't Holly's decision to make. It's mine and I'm making it. The deal has been made," Omega said.

Violet stiffened as Omega placed Holly's hands on the sides of Violet's head and traveled into her body in an instant. Omega, now in Violet's body, smiled evilly as he said, "I am a man of my word. I'll now leave the three of you unharmed. Of course, I can't guarantee the same thing for anyone else who stands in my way in the future. Gallifrey will soon be mine."

Holly, Aishwana, and Skaren stood there together in horror not knowing what to do as Omega then walked right out the front door and disappeared into the milling crowd outside. "I can't let this happen. This is my fault. I should have been stronger, and then this wouldn't be happening," Holly said in despair.

She ran to contact me immediately as Omega made his way through the Capitol. Soon he was approached from out of nowhere by a man covered in a black cloak that hid his face and body.

"You are Omega, aren't you? I was told that you would be back, and that you would want to take over Gallifrey. I and the group that I represent have the same goal. We would like you to help us and maybe even lead us. What do you say to this?" the mysterious man asked.

"Who are you?" Omega asked suspiciously.

"My name is Braxiatel, and I represent the Celestial Intervention Agency. We, like you, want to overthrow the corrupt government of Gallifrey and take it on a new path. We want the Time Lords to take a more proactive role and bind time and space to our will as we reshape it to our image and make it as it should be with us in charge," Braxiatel said.

Omega smiled as he said, "Take me to these others that you work for. I wish to speak with them. I believe that we can come to a mutually beneficial relationship."

You'd better believe that I didn't know anything about this at the time or this little meeting would never have happened. I can guarantee you though that I'm not about to let these two keep my sister without a fight.

Omega and the C.I.A. are about to find out what happens when you get me mad. As for Braxiatel, I owe him one for what he did to Rose. It's way past time that I collected on that debt.

Next: It's Lily versus Omega and Braxiatel as she and her crew fight to take Violet back. What is the story on how Brax escaped from his imprisonment with Ishtar anyway? Also what is he up to now and what does it have to do with the Archangel Network?

By the way, I don't hate bats. I just report the story as Lily dictates it to me and her opinions are all her own.
