OMEGA, LORD PRESIDENT OF GALLIFREY?
As my TARDIS traveled through the Vortex, I quickly worked on assembling a genetic scanner to track Violet down. It was going to track down and find Violet no matter where she was hidden on Gallifrey.
"What do you think that Omega's up to?" Allison asked me.
It was Holly who answered instead as she said, "He wants to become the new Lord President and rule Gallifrey forever. He feels that if not for Rassilon that he could have taken his place as the founder of Time Lord society and become just as famous and powerful as he was. He wants a second chance at that now."
Everyone looked at her in surprise as she said, "I saw it in his mind. I was in his mind at the same time that he was in mine. It worked both ways. I could also see that he wanted you too, Lily. He was once in love with you and still has feelings for you that he's repressed. They're still there though. He wants you as his wife and his queen to rule by his side. He's convinced himself that it's meant to be."
"I don't think so! Any chance that he ever had at getting me disappeared a long, long time ago. He certainly isn't helping himself by stealing my sister's body either. I'm taking Violet back and sending Omega straight into the nearest black hole again. He'll get no more mercy from me. As for his becoming Lord President, nothing short of mind control is going to make that happen. After Omega's history, no one is going to trust him to lead them," I said.
Then I suddenly started to connect the dots as I said, "Oh, no! No!"
"What? What is it?" Robin asked.
"The Archangel Network. Rose said that she never did get the secrets of it or its location from Discord. In fact, she said that Discord claimed to have several networks on several planets throughout the universe all linked together. What if one of those planets is Gallifrey?"
"If the Time Lords were to make Omega their leader, he would do exactly the kinds of things that the C.I.A. wants, wouldn't he?" Ivy asked.
"And it gets worse. You're right. He would. He would see it as spreading his glory across the universe and making it a better place by 'fixing' it. It's all coming together now. Omega will probably run across the C.I.A. soon if they haven't already come across him, and then we're really in for it. Now I have even more reason to find Violet so that I can stop him," I said with worry.
"Well, are you close to finishing your scanner?" Robin asked.
"Almost. I just need to make a few more adjustments and then to test it out," I said.
"Well, hurry up then. Time is wasting, my lady," Robin said with a grin.
"Zip it, lover boy. I'm going as fast as I can. What's with the 'my lady' business again anyway? You haven't called me that in a while now. I thought that we'd moved past that already," I said with an amused grin on my face.
"I've gotten nostalgic of late. I miss the days of our courtship when anything could happen. Now we've become dull and predictable I'm afraid," Robin joked.
"I'll show you predictable," I said as I suddenly grabbed him and kissed him without announcing it.
"Mum, we have to find Aunt Violet! There will be plenty of time for that later," Ron said with a groan.
"There's always time for romance. Besides the scanner is finished now, and it works," I said as I tried it on myself.
"You're impossible. You're going on about the universe being in danger one minute and then kissing Robin without a care the next," Ron said with worry in his eyes.
"I'm worried about her too, Ron. She's family. He was just trying to make me feel better for a moment, and he succeeded," I admitted.
"I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to make it sound like you're uncaring. I'm just tired of bad things happening. I mean we almost lost Holly after all, and now it's happening to Violet. I'm sick of people attacking us and trying to take the people that we care about away from us," Ron said.
"I am too. When I get through with Omega, I'm going to make sure that he and everyone like him gets that message loud and clear. Trust me on that," I said in a cold voice.
I could see Holly looking shocked. She never even knew just how close that she had become to all of us and not just to me. She knew it now though, and I was glad. I considered her like another daughter to me, and now I knew for sure that the others did too.
I quickly used the scanner to find Violet and hooked her coordinates into the TARDIS. I landed a few feet away from it and decided to sneak into the supposed abandoned building in the middle of the Capitol on Gallifrey that they were coming from by myself.
Or at least I thought that I was by myself. Then I noticed that I was being followed by Isabella.
"What are you doing here?" I whispered.
"I decided to help. I'm tired of being the one who never says or does anything. I'm sick of being in the background, Lily. Besides I didn't like seeing Ron upset like that," Isabella admitted.
"Neither did I. He'll be even more upset if I get you killed though. Go back to the TARDIS now," I commanded.
"I'm going along with you, Lily. I'm tired of sitting on the sidelines," Isabella said.
"So am I," Another voice said.
"Oh, no. Not you too," I said with a groan as I saw Ivy come up behind Isabella.
"I used to lead armies and I was one of the greatest warriors of all after thousands of years of fighting, and yet ever since I became Ivy all I've done is hide my identity and what I can do. I'm sick of hiding. I'm going in with you," Ivy said.
"The same here. Let's do this," Holly said.
"Oh, I totally agree," Aishwana said as she came right behind her.
"What is this? A revolt?" I said with anger and worry.
"If it is a revolt, my lady, it's an organized one," Robin said with an evil grin as he came with Ron and Allison.
"Yes, and I'm sure that I know exactly who the ringleader is," I said with a sigh.
"I'm not letting you go in there alone. Not this time. This is personal. We're all going in together. Omega's threatened two of us now, and it's time that we make sure that he can't get in a position where he can ever do that again especially not to you," Robin said.
"This is more about worry over me than anything else, isn't it? You're worried that he'll make me into his bride or something, aren't you?" I realized.
"We're also worried about him doing that to Aunt Violet too by the way, but yeah you've got the gist of it," Allison admitted.
I was touched by this show of love and devotion so I finally said, "Fine. If you get into trouble though, then don't blame me."
We all snuck into the building together and after several minutes of going through empty corridors the scanner took us straight to a hidden room behind one of them. I was going to find a way into the hidden room myself, but Ivy and Robin just used the old fashioned approach.
They both ran into the wall at full speed together and busted a huge hole in it as the false part of it gave way to reveal the hidden entrance. As they both landed on the floor moaning in pain, I said, "With you two around who needs keys? You can just create your own entrances. You're much better than a sonic screwdriver. That'll show the Doctor."
Predictably the loud noise of the breaking wood brought several C.I.A. stooges racing towards us, but I was having none of them. I quickly dealt with them with a massive blast of regenerative energy that knocked them all out cold in an instant.
We raced on ahead quickly before any more guards could come and found ourselves in an enormous auditorium where I saw Omega in Violet's body making a speech. It sounded ominously like an acceptance speech.
Omega stopped in the middle of the speech as he said, "Oh, hello, Sekhmet. It's so nice to see you here at last. What kept you so long? We've all been expecting you of course."
We were all quickly surrounded by several C.I.A. agents as Robin said, "It was a trap."
"Of course it's a trap. That's why I didn't want you to come. You did insist though," I said as I rolled my eyes at him.
"How were you planning on getting out if you knew that it was a trap?" Robin asked as the agents drew closer to us.
"The same way I do everything, Robin. With my irrepressible charm and wit," I said as I began knocking out several agents that tried to get between me and Omega.
"And when that didn't work?" Robin asked with amusement as he began fighting with several agents of his own.
"I have no idea. I did have a plan involving something to do with my foot connecting with Omega's rear though in there somewhere. I was going to make up the rest on the fly," I said with a grin as I sent several agents flying into the walls with an enormous burst of energy from my hands.
"Oh, those are the best kinds of plans, aren't they?" Robin asked as he was shooting several agents attacking the others from long distance with electrified arrows that instantly knocked them out cold as soon as they touched them.
"Definitely. Now where were we, Omega? Oh, yeah. You were busy turning to dust the last time that I saw you. Why couldn't you have the common decency to stay dead, huh?" I asked.
"I won't allow myself to die. Not with my destiny unfulfilled. I will rule the Time Lords, and I will take them and the universe into a new age. It will be a new age of freedom for us all to rewrite time as we wish including you. You could join me in the brave new world that is to come, Sekhmet, if you so choose," Omega said.
"Not if you were the last man in the universe, Omega. Not if the universe was about to explode at any moment unless we got married. I'd rather marry a Dalek first. Again," I said gleefully.
Robin gave me a questioning look as I whispered, "Oh, it was just a little misunderstanding. I'll tell you more about it later."
"I'm sorry to hear that, Sekhmet. I'm afraid that I'll have to kill you then," Omega said.
"I'm sure you'll try," I said as I started charging towards him while dodging staser fire and other attacks.
Just before I was able to reach him though, I ran into Braxiatel who shot me point blank in the chest with a stun blast from his staser. It didn't knock me unconscious, but it did temporarily paralyze me so that I was unable to move to defend myself from whatever that he might do to me next.
I looked at him helplessly with a mixture of rage and complete surprise as he said, "I know what you're just dying to ask me, Sekhmet. How did I survive when Discord apparently killed everyone as she escaped from Ishtar's care? She let me go of course. She had use for me to help her run her Archangel Network here on Gallifrey. I'm going to use it to hand this world completely over to the C.I.A. and by extension to Discord by making Omega our new Lord President. We'll keep the Time Lords from stopping her until it's far too late to prevent her from rewinding time back to her own universe. In return, we will be allowed to serve under her there as she makes us the absolutes masters of it that we always should have been here. All of time and space will finally be run according to our design with no interfering renegades like you there in order to stop us. There will also be no horrible freaks of nature like your daughter. I'll make sure of that. I'll kill all future Arkytiors at birth!"
That was when the entire world went red and Sekhmet emerged. Sekhmet was far stronger and more durable than I was so she was easily able to shake off the paralysis of the stun blast that had affected me.
"What?" Braxiatel asked in shock as he saw Sekhmet get up so quickly.
As Sekhmet, I raced towards him and quickly grabbed him in an unbreakable grip of iron as I tore the staser away from him with my free hand. His eyes went wide with complete terror as I held him up in the air with one hand and growled at him in anger.
He passed out immediately and Sekhmet threw him across the room as hard as she could and straight into an army of agents there were bothering Robin knocking them all over like bowling pins. Sekhmet started toward Braxiatel to finish the job when she heard Omega's laughter behind her and turned to face him.
"Go ahead and destroy him. I don't like him anyway. We could rule things together with him gone," Omega said as he drew closer to her.
Sekhmet looked at him and said, "You are the enemy. I do not make compromises with the enemy. The enemy must be destroyed utterly and completely especially when they become a threat to her/our children."
Omega looked at me in shock as he said, "I never knew the full extent of what Rassilon did until now. I'm so sorry for what he did to you, Sekhmet. I truly am. I can ask Discord to change that. In the coming new world, you'll be who you were always meant to be. It will be you and me together just like it was always supposed to have been, and we'll be happy. There won't be so much guilt and turmoil in your soul over the past like I know that there is now. We'll even bring your family back to life. Wouldn't you like that? To be with your family again? Join me and I can make that happen."
"I am with my family. I'm protecting them from you. You're the one who's endangering them and me. You are the enemy who is trying to destroy them and take my happiness away from me. This cannot be allowed to continue. You must now be expunged," Sekhmet said as she began to glow with regenerative energy.
I have to admit that she and I were of the same mind at that moment. She was doing exactly what I would have done except I would have done it with much more style and less robotically.
Omega looked almost sad as he said, "You realize that now I'm in Violet's body that I can do the same things that you can. She has the same ability to regenerate infinitely as you do. While I control her, I'm more than a match for you."
Yes, while you control me. I only made that deal with you as long as no one got hurt though. Now they're all in danger. The deal's off, Omega. Get out of my head. Violet said telepathically to Omega as she started to fight against him.
"No. Not now. Not when I was so close to winning," Omega protested.
Sekhmet hesitated as she realized that Omega was fighting with Violet for control of her body. She stood and silently watched as she waited for the victor of their mental contest to emerge.
The entire time a live broadcast from the room where Omega was going to command the entire population of Gallifrey to vote him into office as Lord President with a special election was about to go through. As the battle continued, everyone in the C.I.A. that was present at the moment had forgotten about this fact. None of them bothered to call to cancel the broadcast now that it had been so rudely interrupted. It seemed that they had more important things to do fighting my little group instead.
I guess it was a good thing that they had decided to come along after all.
"No!" Omega screamed as Violet finally won the battle for control of her body and drove him out of her mind completely.
Omega wasn't beaten yet though. He quickly hopped into the still unconscious Braxiatel and took control of his body.
"You won't win no matter what you do. I still have the upper hand," Omega said as he set the staser that he had to maximum stun and shot both Sekhmet and Violet with it.
They both crumpled to the ground, and Omega raced to the stage as he waited for the broadcast to begin. He hadn't forgotten about the broadcast and was eagerly waiting for it to begin soon so that he could use it to gain control. It didn't matter to him what body that he wore as long as he still gained the Presidency in the end.
Then just as the subliminal message that commanded the Time Lords to obey the commands of the very next person that they saw began to be played for everyone on Gallifrey to hear as a part of a 'special message' to the viewers, Omega received the shock of his life as he was knocked unconscious to the ground with one punch by a fighting mad Sekhmet. Therefore it was Sekhmet, well me really, that was the first person that everyone saw as soon as broadcasting from the area began. The following was the order that every person on Gallifrey heard and then instantly obeyed.
"No one will ever vote you into office now. You are the enemy of Gallifrey no matter what form you take, Omega. No one should ever listen to or do anything that you say for that very reason. You should be destroyed on sight," Sekhmet said.
The C.I.A. agents who were watching the live broadcast with protective earpieces on screamed in frustration as they now realized that their entire plan had been undone in one moment. Now every Time Lord on Gallifrey had been programmed to not listen to Omega and to destroy Braxiatel on sight.
They would have to start all over again with a new plan from scratch. They would also have to do something about Braxiatel. He couldn't be allowed to tell anyone what he knew especially about the Archangel Network.
I regained control of myself still not knowing any of this at the moment. I smiled as I saw the last of the C.I.A. in the room being beaten by my family and realized from my hazy memories as Sekhmet that Violet was now free and that both Brax and Omega were lying defeated at my feet. Violet and I hugged each other in silent gratitude. Finally at long last the threat of Omega to my family was over with.
"So what have you been up to since I was gone, Lily?" Violet asked.
"Oh, the same old same old," I said with a warm smile.
"So basically you and Robin flirted while you came up with a plan to save me all by yourself that no one else listened to, and they all showed up to help you anyway. Am I right?" Violet guessed with a grin.
"Absolutely. Like I said, the same old same old," I replied happily.
All in all, it hadn't been a bad day's work.
Next: It's the final fate of Omega and Braxiatel as both they and Goth are brought before Lady President Karen Pond and the High Council. Will Omega and Goth give up everything that they know about the C.I.A. and the Archangel Network in order to save their own skins or will a fiendish plan by Braxiatel ensure that they never tell anyone anything while he goes free? Not if Lily can help it. Next time it's Lily vs. Brax to the death!
