Chapter 47 Attack Part 1
It was the pitch black of night as a group of seven figures moved through the mass of drunk men, they quickly left the camp and headed out into the field, which separated the sieging army camp and the defensive wall. All seven where on horseback as they moved toward the defense wooden wall
"This better be something good, I held off on getting drunk for this meeting?" laughed one of the seven as the group moved into the grassy fields well outside the camp lines. Finally, the leader of their group stopped before turning toward the six knight's commanders who were in charge of the force of almost three thousand knights which had gone over to the Samurai when the samurai's took over their lands.
"It is." confirmed the stranger as he pushed up his dark sunglasses as his horse kept climbing up the hill toward the rig. The stranger rocked a bit in his saddle as he guided his horse up in pitch darkness toward the small glowing lights on the hill.
"Having trouble with your horse." Laughed another
"I have only been riding for two weeks." Explained Shino as he gripped the reigns harder as the slope began to level off and they came up toward one of the lights. The knights would have laughed at him again but that is when they saw the column of spearman moving toward them with mounted knights in full armor beside them along with archers and other foot soldiers alongside.
"My God look at that?" reported one of the Knights with Shino as he spotted the banner of the Black ravens flapping in the wind at the front of the first column of men. It was not the banner itself, which was surprising it was that just behind it was another column of soldiers this one with the banner of the white ravens. A few of the foot mounted knights even said hello to them as they passed.
"The White and Black Ravens working together?" asked a second Knight "I wouldn't believe it."
"Believe it." reported a young woman's voice as a new figure rode up to them on a pure white horse almost as white as her eyes. Her raven color hair draped down to her waist, she was dressed in strange looking armor which had strange thin plates over chainmail. However, the strangest thing was the kunai and other ninja weapons located on her belt and a hand band none of them had seen before.
"Hinata is Naruto still here?" inquired Shino
"No, he is out at sea," explained Hinata to her old teammate before looking toward the Knights. "When the sun rises thousands of men will begin marching down the hill like an unstoppable tide and they will crush everything in their way until they reach those cities walls."
"And what happens if we raise the alarm?" asked one of the knights
"Then the battle will start sooner." explained Hinata hoping that Shino was right in his belief that these Knights and the almost three thousand men under their command would change sides and join with them. It would mean less people ding in the battle and more people left alive whenever the ninja nations find out where they are and decide to march on them.
"The question is will you and your men die alongside the samurai or will you join with us?" asked Shino as the knights looked at each other knowing that they had to decide their fate then and there. Would they turn against the samurai they had allied and who surrounded them in the camp or would they turn back to the Black and White Ravens, which now had their camp in a death gripe.
"I will join you," said one the knights
"So will I," added another Knight as one by one all the knights agreed.
"Where do you want us to move our men?" asked one of the knights
"Wherever the Samurai put you once they wake up and see us marching toward them, but when you see a red flare followed by two green flares you turn on the Samurai and attack them," reported Shino as the knights nodded before heading back toward the camp. Leaving Hinata and her teammate on horseback as the forces of the White and Black ravens moved pass them.
"I do not understand how you can deal with these beasts?" inquired Shino as Hinata laughed a bit as her mind went back to when she was just a kid.
Flashback
Laughter filled the air as eight-year-old Hinata Hyuga sat on top of a horse for the first real time.
"Enjoying yourself?" asked her mother with a loving smile as she stood on top of a horse of her own, her father had a horse farm located a few miles outside the massive walls of the village hidden in the Leaves. "A little bigger than the pony you rode last time."
"Yes." said Hinata as the old trusty mare moved beside her mother's horse as they moved through some grasslands. "Mom, why couldn't dad and Hanabi come with us?"
"Sadly your Father doesn't like horses and Hanabi is only five years old, too young for even a pony." Explained her mother before coughing a bit "Besides I want to spend some time with you. Come on let's try to pick up some speed and maybe next time we come out here you can try some jumps?"
"Really?" asked Hinata with a huge smile on her face as her mother coughed again a little harder. "Are you ok Mom?"
"Just a cough which just will not go away, I'll get it looked at when we get back home." explained her mother with a smile "Nothing to worry about, one of the ranch hands says one of the mares is pregnant maybe we should make that your horse."
"My horse?" asked Hinata stunned
"Yes, I had my own horse when I was growing up here with your grandfather and someday this place will pass to you like it did to me when your grandfather died." explained her mother "You need your own horse."
"I can't wait," exclaimed Hinata in the happiest moment of her life so far.
End Flashback
"But it was something to worry about and then Father sold the horse farm to the Daimyo, I never even got back onto a horse until two months ago. Someday I will teach my children to ride just like my mother taught me." thought Hinata as she forced the memory of her mother dying in a hospital bed from her mind and turned back to situation at hand.
"I have a little more experience with horses than most," said Hinata as she touched her own white mare on the side. "How long until sunrise?"
"Four hours, once we get everyone in place we will let them rest a bit and reform them an hour before sunrise." reported Shino as Hinata nodded her head understanding.
A few hours away from the siege lines the general of the 3rd samurai division was leading five hundred mounted cavalry unites as they thundered through the darkness in a search for the two hundred enemy forces. They had found the bodies of the two scouts which had been killed delivering the warning about the enemy force. After burning the bodies, they moved off after the large force following the tracks in the dirt.
"General we should rest; our horses need to be fresh for battle." said the head scout as he pulled up alongside him. All around them the woods where pressing toward them dark and forbidding.
"If I remember correctly there is clearing with a stream about ten minutes ahead correct?" inquired the General as the head scout nodded his head. "Then we will rest there for two hours before going on."
"Yes, sir." Confirmed the head scout as the horses turned to follow the path only to see a small fire burning alongside the road. It was a small fire so it was either a look out for the main body or just a traveler on the road. The samurai's speed up their horses as they came upon a single man sitting in front a fire. He looked up at the general as he was flanked by multiple samurai their armor shinning in the fire light.
"Who are you?" asked the general as he looked down at the young man, he was lean strong looking and he seemed perfectly calm even as he sat in the middle of a pitch black woods in the middle of the knight surrounded by mounted Samurai. "Are you a look out for our enemy?"
"I am not a look out," explained the man as the rather large dog beside him lifted his head with some disinterest at the samurai. The man himself had wild brown hair and two red marks under his eyes.
"Have you seen our enemy," Asked the head scout as suddenly the man laughed a bit as he threw a small branch onto the fire.
"Are you talking about the hundred or so horses tied together being lead through the woods by 20 young boys then yes." laughed the man as the samurai looked at each other confused.
"The horses are rider less?" inquired another Samurai
"Yes." confirmed Kiba with a cocky grin as suddenly movement from the woods caused the samurai to turn only to see a tan woman dressed in a pair of pants with a black shirt and jacket over it all. Her red hair hung down to her shoulders as she pushed through the samurai dumping some more branches on the ground.
"Here is some more wood for that fire," said the woman as she dumped the pile of logs at the feet of the man "Next time you are going to get it lazy ass."
"But if I go then I can't look at your ass as you walk away," laughed the man as the woman punched his shoulder in a mix of playfulness and anger.
"Lovers," laughed a samurai in the back ranks as the man and woman simply shrugged at the idea.
"Now where were we?" asked the General
"You just realized you were chasing a fake army while the combined forces of the Black and White Ravens where destroying your army." stated the woman as the general blinked
"Not that it really maters they are here now and they are not going to leave this woods alive." added the man as he pulled a bottle of beer from a pack "Want a last drink?"
The samurai laughed
"They are trying to make us turn back so that the enemies can escape," offered up the head scout "These two can't kill five hundred samurai."
"No, not easily at least." confirmed the man "Now if Naruto or Sasuke was here yes, they could but just the two of us no."
"Naruto, Sasuke aren't they the famous ninjas?" inquired a samurai
"Don't worry about them, worry about the pack they want to make this fun for them." Said the woman as she took the beer from the man's hand and took a drink "Which is bad for you all."
"What pack?" asked the general as suddenly low growls filled the knight air as glowing yellow eyes appeared in the woods.
"Those." explained Kiba as he pulled another bottle of beer for himself "You have been running around in circles for over an hour while my wolves have been resting and waiting for you after leading the armies inside your defensive wall."
"What the?" asked the general.
"Well…have fun," explained the woman as she tossed a bucket of water on the fire snuffing it out and causing a line of steam and smoke to rise. When the steam disappeared the man, woman and the dog where gone but the golden eyes where there in the woods until one by one they disappeared leaving the samurai alone in the dark thick woods.
Above their heads and to their right Kiba Inuzuka, Akamaru and Karui stood on a large branch looking down at the samurai.
"I kind of feel sorry for them," stated Karui as she could almost see the giant wolves moving through the dark woods hunting the samurai. The wolves only numbered 18 adults when the samurai had five hundred but it would not make a difference. The wolves where the hunters and the samurai the prey.
"Yes." Confirmed Kiba as Akamaru raised his head. "Go."
With that, the ninja hound moved off to join his wolf cousins, in the hunt.
"Akamaru seems to be enjoying his new pack mates," noted Karui
"I think he wants to sleep with alpha she-wolf so he wants to impress her." explained Kiba "He is kind of upset that he isn't allowed to sleep on the bed at the moment."
Karui glared at him in the dark.
"Then get a bigger bed for your place once you get everything in place, my bed is too small for you and him." explained Karui "I don't mind him watching but he isn't going to be on the bed while it happens."
"Ok." groaned Kiba as the first scream of pain filled the air as the first samurai where brought down by a wolf. The job of they had was simply to kill any samurai who might try to escape and to help with that they had placed paper bombs with scented trip wires across the paths leading out of the woods. The wolves knew where the wirers where and the scents warned them in case they forgot. Kiba closed his eyes and leaned up against the trunk of a tree, Karui joined him as they kept drinking the beer.
"I would say we have some fun up here but knowing us we would fall off this tree and break our necks." noted Karui sadly.
"It would be an interesting action report wouldn't it?" laughed Kiba as he thought back to the day he came back to the village with a pack of wolves. He had settled the wolves in the woods outside the village still half finished walls that had been set aside for them and where his new clan compound was going up and had gone up to Karui's bar to see her and to drink. He had no real idea that he would spend the night there.
Flashback Somewhat Mature.
Kiba woke up sore but happy, as he got up his knees felt like giving away as he rolled out of Karui's bed where she slept face down in the nude same as him. He grinned to himself as he looked at the curves of her body, she did not have the biggest breast or even the best ass but she was still beautiful with that dark skin, red hair and deep golden eyes. He ran his hands down her body feeling how smooth it was and fingering the tramp stamp above her shapely ass. He knew that she had slept with our men and she knew he had slept with other women but last night was the best he had ever had.
"I hope I was the best for her," thought Kiba
"Well we have to wait and see." added Kano as the demon wolf inside Kiba offered his own tired point of view. "I knew her demon before the Ark but I didn't know her like this."
"Karui do you want something to eat?" asked Kiba
"Yes." Said Karui in a half a moan as Kiba put on a pair of boxers backwards and stepped over the black and red bra and bottom set. He moved out into Karui's kitchen, found some ingredients and started to mix up some pancakes for the two of them. Just as he turned on the stovetop, Karui stepped out in one of his shirts which went all the way down to her ass. His eyes ran up and down her body, he could just make out her black underwear through his white shirt.
"I never gave you permission did I?" purred Karui as she walked toward Kiba ever move screamed seduction and sex.
"I didn't think I had to ask anyone?" stated Kiba as she stopped in front of him in front of the oven "Breakfast should be ready in a few minutes."
"Good." Confirmed Karui before grabbing his manhood feeling it through his boxers "Then maybe I can have some more of this."
"Of course you can." said Kiba with a smirk as Karui smiled before going toward the fridge, opening it. As she did, Kiba lifted up her shirt and grabbed her ass "As long as I can have some more of this as well."
End Flashback
Kiba did not leave Karui's until almost three in the afternoon that day and the next night Karui had come to his place. It had been such a common sight over the month. It was one of the main reasons why Karui had been called up from the reserve force to help Kiba, the wolves had gotten used to her and she was already learning how to speak the language of the wolves.
"More beer?" asked Karui as the sound of screaming filled the air as another samurai went down.
"Sure." confirmed Kiba as he took the beer from her hand.
The horizon was just starting to glow in the first rays as the sunlight was poking its way through the darkness of the night as the stars as suddenly the sound of beating drums and blowing horns caused the entire sleeping samurai camp to wake up. As half-drunk and even less dressed men stepped out of their tents they were greeted by the sight of thousands of enemies holding the high ground. Row after row of spearman formed the front lines with men armed with swords, axes and other bladed weapons beside them. Forming up behind the spear man where the archers with mounted knights moving back and forth between four groups, two located in the center and two on either flanks.
"Shit." cursed the samurai camp commander as he instantly released how dangerous of a position they were in. The enemy controlled the high ground, likely all the forces up there had somehow had been killed including many of the command staff. The enemy was all but formed up already for battle and it was clear they would begin their march within 15 minutes and it would take them at least 30 minutes for everyone to get into their armor yet alone formed up for battle. His only hope was if the knights foot soldiers who had simple and fast to put on armor could form a line to defend them until the rest of the army was formed up for battle.
"Send a radio message back to the capital and send an order to the Knights. I need their spearman and foot soldier to form a defensive line outside our camp lines. Hold that army back until the rest of the army is in place." ordered the camp commander as he looked up at the line of spears, swords and armor glittering in the rising sun.
The sun was not even up yet and already as an old man with long gray hair down to his waist sat cross-legged on the balcony of the half-finished castle overlooking the still sleeping city of Alesia. His eyes where closed even as his sword sat across his lap, then with one quick movement the sword left the fine leather sheath and slashed the tip stopping only inches away from his hosts neck as he stepped onto the balcony.
"And a good morning to you to cousin." said the host as he moved around the sword point and toward a small glass table where two servers where setting out their breakfast.
"If you were smart cousin you would train before you ate not the other way around." Explained Mifune as the head general of the Land of Iron samurai put his sword away before moving to join his cousin for breakfast.
"I found that a cup of tea is the best way to clear my mind after a long night of planning military actions." reported the self appointed Shogun of the Land of Animals Snorri to his cousin from the North. The two men were of an age and shared a grandfather but they shared no physical. Mifune was thin and lean while Snorri was larger but built strong as an ox. Mifune preferred a traditional sword while Snorri preferred a spear like weapon tipped with a curved blade called a Naginata.
"Speaking of military actions any word about that smoke?" inquired the general who had been in charge of the combined ninja and samurai force in the war against Madara.
"I told you yesterday that smoke is just the destruction of the Golden Phoenixes, we should hear from them soon by radio," reported Snorri as he poured himself some steaming out tea "Now once we destroy the Phoenixes and the city of Arae falls we will have all but won the war against these knights."
"And there will be two Samurai nations in this world." confirmed Mifune knowing that most of the samurai down here are related in some way to the samurai of the land of Iron. Either they were second and third sons looking for land of their own or they were looking for a fresh start for some crime they all came to the land of animals. "When you are victorious it will be a great honor to bring you into the…."
Mifune never had a chance to finish as an aid rushed out onto the balcony carrying a message in his hand, he was breathing heavily as a look of pure horror covered his face.
"I left orders not to be interrupted during breakfast." snapped Snorri to the young massager.
"Sir, message from the 1st." reported the aid as Snorri smiled somehow missing the look of fear on the man's face. "Sir…the 1st."
"How bad son?" asked Mifune he had seen that look before whenever an unforeseen defeat happened "How badly where they defeated?"
"Defeat?" laughed Shogun Snorri at his cousin "The first is the best of the best, they can't be beaten."
"Sir, the 1st is gone," reported the massager as Snorri turned on the aid his eyes as wide as dinner plates.
"What?" exclaimed the stunned Shogun as he slammed his fist down onto the table.
"Yes, the 1st has been lost with all its strength," reported the aid shaking a bit in fear.
"How is that possible?" snapped Snorri still not believing it even as Mifune's mind began racing trying to figure out how ten thousand warriors could have been defeated.
"Reports are confusing we only have the word from three survivors of the rear guard which escaped but it seems they marched into some sort of fire trap." explained the messenger "We also have reports that the Golden Phoenixes are marching toward us with all their strength. They will be hear in within a week, the cavalry units even sooner than that."
"Fire trap." stated Mifune as he looked toward the towering black smoke cloud to the east. "That is a ninja trick, I saw it deployed two or three times during the war taking a squad but ten thousand men all gone in a single trap would have taken weeks to set up."
"I want orders sent to the 3rd division have them break off a major part of their sieging force and have them march here." ordered Snorri "They are a ten day march away and we will trap the Phoenixes against our walls."
"Sir, the bad news doesn't stop with the first." gulped the man as the two high ranking samurai looked at him "The 3rd sent a call for aid, they woke up this morning to find that the combined forces of the Black and White Ravens had taken the hills around their siege and are formed for battle."
"How old is this message?" asked Mifune
"20 minutes old sir, it had to be relayed to us by multiple radio transmitters," reported the aid
"Then the battle has likely already begun and likely you have already lost." reported Mifune to the stunned Snorri "It would also seam that at least these Black and White Ravens have for the moment reunited into a single force."
"I want the 2nd and 4th division placed on high alert and to prepare to move out to face the threat." Snapped Snorri as he looked out at the massive camp below the castle where the 2nd and 4th Samurai divisions nearly 20,000 men where encamped. The 4th division had always been left in reserve to guard their new capital and the 2nd had been destroyed last year and was in the middle of being reformed with new recruittes. "I want messages sent out to the knights who joined us and call them to our aid. The city defense force will be brought up to combat readiness and I want scouts sent out to warn us…"
Suddenly the sound of ringing bells filled the air followed by alarms, Mifune and Snorri turned toward the harbor and the source of the sound. They could look out toward the sea past the city walls and the harbor walls; there was a large amount of mist sitting out in at sea. Suddenly two shapes appeared out of the mist. It took them a moment to realize that the ships where not fishing boats or cargo ships but warships.
"Enemy warships." spat Snorri "It's only two we can deal with them."
As if they had heard Shogun Snorri's words, more warships appeared out of the mist and began to form up in a blockage of the entrees to the harbor. Some of the warships even moved closer and began to fling stones against the walls which surrounded the harbor and the four towers which controlled the S shaped opening to the harbor. As the Green Sea Dragon, warships fired upon the walls hundreds of small boats began to move out from behind the warships and began moving toward the walls.
"Invasion." stated Mifune surprised at the boldness, he had been told that the knights where at each other throats along with the Sea Dragons but now it seemed that they where working together.
Out at sea in the lead landing craft Kakashi Hatake stood in front of the ramp located at the front of the flat bottom boat. His ship was going to be the first one to hit the beach and he knew he had a job to do.
Flashback
The ship rocked and rolled in a storm as a fleet moved toward the capital to take it back from the samurai. They were two days out from the capital and they were having one last joint meeting onboard the flagship to go over the plan. They would soon be on different ships and radio contact was too risky in case of discovery.
"Alright the capital of Alesia is separated into four main parts." started Temari as she ran her fingers over the map at the center of the table. "The first is the harbor which is contained inside a wall forty feet high and rise up almost straight out of the water. Four towers guard the only opening and they can fire down on any ship passing through the walls to the harbor."
"Kakashi you lead the assault on the towers." ordered Naruto as the sensei turned and nodded at his former student now Kage's orders. "The entire rest of the operation depends on you claiming control of those towers.
"I'll take care of it." confirmed Kakashi as the ship rocked and rolled under his feet.
End flashback
"90 seconds!" yelled a boat driver as Kakashi double checked his armor for the fifth time, already he could hear the sound of arrows raining down on the metal roof and the front ramp door. All around him members of the ninja core that had been training together for only a few months stood waiting. Some were praying and others where strapping on the helmets and samurai style face masks. It was hoped that it would protect them from arrows raining down on them from above and help prevent them from being discovered. Before Kakashi put on the mask he reached down into his pack and pulled out a small photo of Shizune, Rin and himself standing in front of their new home on their move in day.
Flashback
Kakashi yawned as he walked into the kitchen stretching a bit as the smell of freshly brewed coffee filled the air. Standing by the coffee machine with mugs in their hands was his two lovers, Shizune and Rin. The two of them where talking softy to each other as he opened the fridge and got himself a cup of orange juice.
"I have head over to the main land to work with the police force, I will not be back until Friday." explained Kakashi "Naruto wants me to watch the new archers that the Shadow swords are training from the civilians to see how they are doing."
"Kakashi-kun." said Shizune as Kakashi turned his gaze to the black haired woman "We have something to tell you."
"Did I forget a birthday?" asked Kakashi before looking at Rin "I thought your birthday is Saturday."
"It is but you will soon have to remember two more birthdays." Laughed Rin as Kakashi blinked not really understanding what he was hearing.
"We are both pregnant." Laughed Shizune with a huge smile on her face as Kakashi's eyes moved back and forth between Shizune and Rin.
"Both?" asked Kakashi stunned at the new. He knew to expect a kid sooner rather than later since they were trying to get pregnant but he had not expected two at the same time.
End Flashback
"10 seconds!" yelled the operator
"I will come back." said Kakashi as he placed on his helmet pressing down his silver hair and put on his face mask before turning to face the ramp just as the boat slammed into the small beach at the base of the sea wall, then the ramp dropped.
