Chapter 48 Attack Part 2

The sound of arrows and other ballistic projects pounded against the metal front ramp as the first landing craft crashed against the rough stone and earth seawall, which formed the base of the defense wall, which guarded the harbor. The ramp hit the stones with the thud actually scrapping against the wall, instantly Kakashi ran out of the boat forming hand signs as he went. Arrows and stones where falling on him however it wasn't as bad as they had expected, maybe they had been luckily and caught them even more flat footed. As Kakashi finished his hand signs, the wet sea rock at the base of the wall jumped up forming a staircase. The defenders on the walleyes widened as they saw the staircase formed.

"Betting you wished you placed the Justus seal on your ground now." thought Kakashi as he ran up the staircase followed by the other ninjas and some of the green sea Dragons which were following him.

Flashback

"Kakashi-sensie!" yelled 12 year old Naruto Uzumaki as Kakashi lifted his head up from his book and looked at his genie team. Naruto the ninja who couldn't stop bouncing off the wall, Sasuke the brooding storm and Sakura the fan girl who knew nothing of the real world.

"What is it Naruto?" asked Kakashi as he closed his book.

"I have a question?" yelled Naruto at the top of his lungs only to get smashed across the head by Sakura.

"Then ask it baka!" yelled Sakura as Sasuke rolled his eyes at the top of them.

"Ok…mmm how come the village wall is so high?" asked Naruto as he rubbed the back of his head as he pointed toward the towering village wall.

"It's to defend us baka!" yelled Sakura as she went to hit him again.

"Hold on a second Sakura." ordered Kakashi as he grabbed Sakura's wrist "Go on Naruto?"

"Well, I mean it's too high to be jumped but can't someone use a jutsu to make a stairs or dig a tunnel?" inquired Naruto as Kakashi smiled under his facemask.

"A good question." Confirmed Kakashi as Sakura put her fist down and Sasuke started paying attention. "See under the wall and in the area around it are special seals which actually limit the total height of any jutsu so that can happen. There is also seals placed on the walls themselves to absorbed attacks and require more chakra to climb it. Any ninja could try to climb it using chakra but they would use so much chakra they would reach the top out of it."

"See, I had a good question Sakura-chan." laughed Naruto

"Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while." Grumbled Sakura before gazing at Sasuke like he was a cute little kitten that she wanted to hug to death "Can we get back to our mission."

"Yes, finding another cat." Growled Sasuke

End Flashback

The Samurai and the knights who had controlled the city before the samurai took it from them had not placed any seals on the ground outside the walls to prevent using chakra. They had likely though it was not needed considering no one south of the land of Wind use chakra in combat and it was now costing the defenders. As Kakashi bolted forward drawing, a sword as he went the stunned city defender eyes widened as Kakashi's sword cut him down as he tried to put another arrow in his bow.

"They are on the wall!" yelled a voice as Kakashi turned toward his main goal, about 100 feet away from him was the opening to the first tower. A dozen men were standing in his way and more where coming out of the tower most still struggling to get their cloths on, one man even came out dressed in nothing but a pair of white briefs. Kakashi could already hear rushing footsteps as the first ninjas from the landing craft rushed past him and the Green Sea Dragon warriors came up behind them axes in hand.

"Fire style, giant fire ball justu!" yelled a female ninja beside him as a giant fireball moved forward as the city guards either jumped off the wall into the water or where burned alive.

"Take control of the tower!" ordered Kakashi as he pointed his sword toward the tower before looking the other landing crafts which where landing below him. Most the ninjas where heading toward the two towers on their side of the opening to the harbor. On the other side he could see the other landing crafts landing on the beach and the ninja, there forming the staircase using Earth style Justus. So far, the operation was going perfectly as the top of the tower in front of him erupted in flames.

"Tower one is down, estimate ten minutes for total control." reported Kakashi over his radio as he saw ninjas rushing out of the first tower on the other side of the harbor opening meaning that had fallen as well. "Make that five."

While the battle was raging on the harbor walls another battle was moments from beginning however in this battle only three ninjas where there to witness. Neji currently standing on top of a watchtower to gain an even better view with his byakugan and Shino was off doing something leaving Hinata sitting on top of her horse near the center of the lines beside Lady Avo and all her white Raven guards. Below them, they could see the army of the White and Black Ravens marching down toward the scrambling Samurai army. The spearman lead the charge thousands of steal spear points shinning in the morning sunlight, behind them marched sword men ready to move to support the spearman and behind the swords where the bowman. Finally, behind them all was two group of mounted armored horses with two more groups on each flanks. The right centered armor horse group had a black raven flag flying from a tall pole.

"Looks like that fool Lord Carac is really going to lead the horse charge." noted Lady Avo with a groan "Hopefully that old man will die in his charge."

"If he does one less contender for leadership right?" asked Hinata knowing that once the fighting was done the leadership of the three knight factions would each choice a champion to fight for leadership.

"That is one of the benefits but maybe we could avoid the whole fight if he dies." explained Lady Avo as Hinata raised an eyebrow "Drake and I had agreed to try to rule together and maybe have a kid together. However Lord Carac wouldn't agree to the second part of your plan and have one of his grandchildren marry our child."

Down below a line of spearman knights loyal to the samurai formed up an almost laughable defense line. The line was only three men deep and in multiple places, only a single man was in place, most of them had just enough time to throw on a helmet as they picked up their spear. They lacked any of the other armor that the Black and White ravens had as they marched toward them.

"Should happen any moment now," stated Lady Carac as the central groups of armored groups began charging forward swords shinning in the sun. As they neared, the front spear line two gaps opened up as the armored horse charged past the spears toward then samurai spears.

"Now the moment of truth." said Hinata as the knights charged forward, she held her breath as the decisive moment came closer. Suddenly a load horn filled the air as the spearman threw down their weapons allowing the cavalry units to charge past them into the camp and the half-armored samurai.

"How glories isn't it?" asked Lady Carac with false praise in her voice as the knights which had been part of the samurai army turned against them and began attacking their former allies. The armored knights where now ridding down half dressed man cutting them down and throwing flaming torches onto the tents. Soon the entire camp was in flames as the spearman and foot soldiers marched into the camp as well killing and stealing as they went.

"This should be over in few hours," stated Lady Carac "The men will have fun killing and raiding the tents for plunder."

"We have to march by sundown if we want to make our time table for reaching the capital," explained Hinata as she looked down the hill at the flames of the burning camp. The sooner this ended and siege had been broken the sooner she could be with her family.

"Funny I didn't think about my sister just then." noted Hinata she was not surprised at leaving her father out, that was actually common. "I wonder what she is up to."

Far away from the battlefield the second female Hokage the Leaf ever had, Hanabi Hyuga was sick and tired of all the paperwork. She knew that paperwork was a key part of being any Hokage but she had not expected this amount of work. It took up almost ten hours a day and add that to all the work she had to do thanks to her father handing over the leadership of the clan to her meant she had even more paperwork when she got home. A knock at the door caused her to look toward her personal office door. Slowly she stood up checking her tired and worn out face in a wall mirror before shuffling her feet across the hardwood floor to the door. She opened the door to find her father standing there.

"You look even worst then I heard," noted her father as he looked into the sickly looking Hokage.

"Even Hokage's came down with the flue from time to time." Defended Hanabi as she moved back to her home office desk in the Hyuga complex "Now what do you want?"

"I want to talk to you about the future of our clan." Stated Hiashi Hyuga as Hanabi fought the need to roll her eyes at the start of a conversation they have had multiple times over the past few months.

"I am not dumping my boyfriend because the clan council doesn't like his clan name." defended Hanabi as she looked toward the photo of a her boyfriend of four months Bilal Kurama. He had short brown hair and was over a head taller than she was with a warm caring face.

"Bilal isn't even a ninja he is a trader and the Kurama clan was once great but they are not anymore." stated Hiashi as he sat across from his only child "They have maybe three or four ninja members of any worth and the business they do own are small compared to our holdings. He isn't worthy of being married to the head of our clan."

Hanabi groaned she wanted this whole line of conversation to be done with and whenever her father had brought it up in the past she had just told him to mind his own business and be thankful Bilal was from a major clan in the first place. She had vented her anger about her father to Bilal who had come up with a better counterpoint.

"Father our current clan returns on all investments are 3% a year while under Bilal short leadership the investments of the Kurama clan has been doubling each year. Their business are growing fast while ours are staying the same." Explained Hanabi as her father placed a hand under his chin, clearly he had not considered that. Her father had always considered the best of the clan first emotions second. "Also he understands that if it comes to it neither me or any children will take his last name, they will be Hyuga. Now will you leave me alone to work?"

"One last thing before I go, I heard you let Shikaku Nara lead a team of jonnin down South?" asked Hiashi as Hanabi nodded her head "Why?"

"He has a theory about the demons finding a way to cross thousands of miles and across multiple boarders unseen to settle in the south." explained Hanabi with a small laugh "I saw no harm in letting him go south. More than likely he is using it to escape the coming winter in the warm southern summer."

While Hanabi and Hiashi where laughing a bit about the warm southern weather, Naruto and the other ninjas of the main invasion force was thanking God it was spring not summer since they were trapped in metal boxes circling around each other waiting for the green light.

"When will this end?" complained a ninja behind Naruto as the boat tilted again as it kept moving around the circle.

"It shouldn't take much longer," explained Naruto as long beads of sweat as they all cooked in the heat. Behind him were the men and women he would lead into battle, most of them where older then he was but he was their leader and he had to show it. All the ninjas where dressed in the same battle armor as everyone else, the only differences where small patches on their arms which showed their ranks so that commands could be given in battle without showing people's faces. Naruto being the Kage was the highest rank but since he could not wear Kage robes in battle, he had a black cape added to his armor since his kage robes where black.

Flashback

"Tell me again why I need to pick a different primary weapon?" asked Naruto to the old Shadow Sword Leader Bryce as he spun a kunai in his pointer finger. "Kunias and chakra blades are my weapons of choice."

"And those would be great for a normal warrior but a great warrior and leader needs a more intimidating weapon to inspire their followers and strike fear into the hearts of their enemies." Explained Bryce as the two of them stood in the training field in the basement of the government building. The rows of weapons spread out around them. "Besides the way I understand it you are famous for your skills with those chakra blade of yours, having a different weapon will delay them discovering who you are in battle."

"Just go with it kid besides you ordered every ninja to learn at least two new weapon." noted the Kyuubi as Naruto picked up a few of the weapons from the rows of shelves which jumped out at him at stuff to try. Like all ninjas, he had been trained with different weapons including the basic ANBU sword and all the other tools so instead he picked some of the weapons from the knight's arsenal.

End Flashback

"The towers are taken!" yelled the boat operator from behind them as he kicked the assault craft into high gear as it turned toward the small opening toward the tower. Naruto closed his eyes for a moment imaging what it had to look like outside his sealed assault craft. The four towers guarding the way into the harbor where under their control and Kakashi's forces where moving around the top of the wall clearing the harbor.

Outside the craft, Sakura Haruno stood waiting to board the third wave of assault craft along with the medical reserve team and another combat squad. From her viewpoint on the lead ship, she could see three of the towers which guarded the harbor opening was burning and the four top part of the fourth had fallen into the harbor. She could just make out people moving on the wall as the city defenders ran in fear from the attacking force. She turned her gaze away from the battle on the walls to the beach located just outside the city walls near the base of the massive castle, which formed a corner of the city defensives. Landing without a fight was a large part of the Sea Dragon forces; they had one goal to make sure no one escaped the city. The sound of roaring engines caused her to turn her green eyes back toward the burning towers and the city behind it. The lead wave of assault crafts where already making the S curve passage into the harbor. She did not know which one had Naruto on it but it was one of the first crafts.

She looked down at her watch and the four small diamond shaped tattoo on her wrist, which together formed a larger diamond.Since joining with her demon had cut the link with the slug summons, she had lost her original strength of a hundred seal but with Aella's help she had devolved a new improved one. Instead of having a single point located on her forehead, which would be easy for any enemy to spot she had placed the seal on her wrist and legs. She now had four small strength of a hundred seals on each of her arms and legs for sixteen total and while each one was not as large as Tsunade's forehead, one but she could control the release better. On top of those sixteen chakra reserves, she had her own chakra strength and the demon fox now in her.

"I hope I never have to use all of them." said Sakura to herself as suddenly her radio ear piece came alive with a voice she was well form her days on team seven.

"Landing crafts hitting the beach in 60 seconds." said Sia's voice as Sakura lifted her head up to the sky to see a large white bird flying above the cities defensives. She knew who was up there and what was up there.

"Our eyes in the sky." thought Sakura "Please keep Naruto-kun safe."

Up on the walls which separated the harbor from the city proper a low level samurai commander was screaming out commands as the city simple draw bridge gate where being raised. It was believed that no one could get past the four towers, which guarded the harbor entrees so this gate was not as heavy defended.

"I want that gate closed five minutes ago!" yelled the young commander as the rattling of the chains raising the gate could be heard over the roar of the approaching assault craft. The docks where in the way of any landing force meaning any landing force would have to cross this before they even hit the beach and docks where not made for landing troops.

"Sir they have gained the harbor walls and are moving to cut us off from the castle." reported a city defense force member "We are sealing the sea tower to stop them there."

"Good." responded the Commander knowing that the sea tower marked the border between the harbor wall and the city walls. Behind him the few samurai he had and the city defenders where rushing around with bows and crossbows. They had to hold them here long enough for the twenty thousand strong army could gather themselves and crush the invading army at the beach. If they got into the city, it would become much harder to push them back. As the commander prepared to form battle lines an explosion rocked the wall followed by a thud as the gate fell to the ground the chain smoking from small explosions as it fell.

"Shit!" yelled the Commander as more explosions rocked the area, this time from the docks when the smoke cleared the docks where gone and the first landing craft was about to land. That is when something really strange happened the metal assault crafts hit the beach and then stopped, the ramps did not drop. The defenders looked at each other for a moment before dark shapes began shooting out of the top sides of each of the crafts.

"Arrows! Get under cover!" yelled the commander as the black shapes arched up toward the defenders. As the arrows began to fall on them killing those who did not get to cover fast enough the commander saw the ramps begin to drop.

"Move!" yelled Naruto as he ran into the smoke his feet sinking into the wet pebble beach his black cloak whipping in the wind behind him. He made toward the arched gate, which thanks to the Shadow Swords spies was down.

"We have to take that get before they can heat that oil and start dropping it on us." Reported the Kyuubi as Naruto pushed himself forward toward the line of city defender spearman which were forming up to defend the small gate. Naruto ran through hand signs as he ran his armor slowly him down and the eyes slit limiting his views. He was cursing the armor until an arrow hit him in the shoulders grazed off without doing anything more than scratching the black paint.

"Air style air bullet!" said Naruto as breathed out some vents in the armor sending balls of chakra lanced wind toward the spearman. To his right a ninja was sending a stream of hot boiling water toward the spearman, to his left another was sending a ball of fire toward the same spearman. Seeing the oncoming attack of Wind, Water and Fire the back line of spearman dropped their spears and ran. The front ranks never had a chance to run as the three elemental Justus hit them. Most of the defenders did not get back up but those who did to their credit stood their ground and reformed.

"We could do another jutsu?" offered up the Kyuubi as they ran forward.

"No we need to limit jutsu use, we are a fake mercenary group and too many high level Justus will raise questions." Confirmed Naruto knowing that it meant he had to take this fight up close as he reached over his shoulder and gripped the weapon which he had been training with.

Flashback

Naruto walked into the building and was instantly sent reeling backwards from the heat from all the blast furnaces, which were working overtime to make all the Aldhard beams and blocks for the village. It was so hot that it felt like his lungs were on fire as he moved down the line past the teams of people pouring the beams for the bridge. He also passed the teams who were pouring the giant blocks for the walls before he reached the weapon production center. That is where he found Tenten working and her personal forge. Even though a good five feet of snow was outside her door she was soaked in sweat as Naruto approached.

"Tenten," said Naruto as she put down her hammer and raised her eyes to him.

"Naruto what are you doing down here?" asked Tenten

"I need you to make something for me," explained Naruto as Tenten grinned a bit as she looked at the long package in Naruto's hand.

"Let me guess you want me to make you whatever weapon you have been learning?" asked Tenten as Naruto blinked confused about how she could have known. "Those three girlfriends stopped by two days ago to place their orders. You are the last one of any of our friends to come to me for their weapons."

"Ok that answers that," explained Naruto

"Which means the only question is what weapon did you choice?" asked Tenten as Naruto placed his training weapon on the table and unfolded the wrapping he had used to protect it from the snow.

"I need you to make me this," said Naruto as Tenten looked at it as she picked up the dented steal training weapon. Instantly her mind started to design the weapon to make the Kage weapon stand out from all the other personal work she had done for the rest of their friends.

"Any color you want and don't say orange? Because a kage with an orange weapon just sounds stupid," explained Tenten as she placed her hand under her chin "Maybe black to match your kage robes?"

"Black blades sounds like something would ask for," explained Naruto "I want something different."

"I have a couple of ideas." said Tenten with a grin

End Flashback

Naruto's metal covered hand gripped the soft black leather hilt brushing past the white diamond shaped pommel stopping at the long knight style crossbar each side graced with a matching white diamond ordinates. With one quick movement, Naruto pulled out the three and a half foot sword blade out from its holder on his back. Unlike all the others weapons, which Tenten had made which she had infused with, color Naruto's sword had been made pure snow white. Naruto spun the sword down in an arch against the rising spear of man who stood his ground. Naruto had expected his new sword to force the spear point down out of his way however, the sword cut the pole clean through as if it was paper. The spearman's eyes widened as the sword moved down and then up through the man's light armor ending his life in a spray of blood. The other spearman broke and ran dropping their spears as they ran down the streets deeper into the massive city where their families lived.

"My god," said Naruto as he watched the man fall backwards having been cut clear in two from hip to shoulder by the Aldhard steel. The sword came out covered with bright red blood and pieces of organs on it.

"You have seen and killed people before, what is the matter?" asked Kyuubi confused at Naruto's reaction. Ninjas where already rushing past him and heading up the staircases built into the side of the walls to gain the battle raging on the walls. Others where already moving into the city itself as the city defenders broke and ran from this surprise attack.

"I have never cut someone cut clear through before yet alone by my hand." Explained Naruto as blood dripped off the pure white sword. For a moment he gathered himself before put the sword back into its place on his back as he watched some of the advance attack teams move into the village. He could not help but smile as he saw ninjas from villages who had fought countless wars against each other where now teammates. With that thought in mind he took off into the city itself the sooner, they finished their goals the sooner the bloodshed would end.

Far away from the battle a light rain was hitting the top of the train car as Shikaku sat looking out the window at the nearly vehicle black cliffs as the train slowed down as it moved through the black snake pass. The old military planner of the Leaf village had seen this spot on a map countless times but seeing it on a map and with your own eyes was two different things. As the train made a turn it entered the largest valley in the pass, it was maybe five hundred yards wide at the widest point and narrowed at each end before making another turn. A small river ran through the center however, what was going on the other side of the river caused him to raise an eyebrow.

"Excuses me." asked Shikaku to a passing train crewmember "But what is going on over there?"

"We are building a new rail line between our main lines in the land of Bronzes and the land of Granite," explained the crewmember as she pulled a food cart forward "Now would you like some breakfast? We have drinks and even some bacon?"

"A cup of coffee would be enough for me," confirmed Shikaku as the crewmember handed him a cup of hot coffee. As the train neared the end of the valley, an explosion filled the air causing Shikaku to look up from into the smiling face of the Land of Bronze train company worker.

"Do not worry they are blasting some lose rocks from the pass to avoid any landslides," explained the woman as some of others traveling with him nodded their heads in understanding. Shikaku turned his gaze out the window once again only to see through the rain figures moving around with hard hats on and tools. The thing which stuck out to him the most was the number of them and the

"Too many to be a simple blast and clean job." thought Shikaku Nara as the train kept moving past the job site headed deeper into the Land of Granite where he would begin his search for the missing demons including his only son.

Back in the city of Alesia most of the none samurai members of the city defense force had abounded their posts and returned home. The local defense forces had no love for the samurai, add to that fact that the invasion force was not burning the first couple of civilian buildings only increased the numbers leaving their post. Only the samurai stood their ground and most of 20,000 of them where gathered around the half-finished second castle at the far end of the city. When the city first came under attack small squads where sent out to reinforced the defenders on the walls while the rest prepared to march.

Leading one of these squads through the tight narrow streets near one of the five main squares was the personal bodyguard of the head general of the land of Iron Mifune, Aitor. The seasoned battle commander had come down with his friend and Mifune's own young grandson squire to visit the growing samurai nation in the south and now they had to fight.

"Once we past the square we have another five blocks to reach the wall." reported a fellow samurai as Aitor lead the column of twenty-five samurai down the road at a steady march. They had no idea that the wall had already fallen and multiple landing crafts where landing and unloading unopposed.

"I now once we reach the wall we have to contact the commander and find out the situation." Expressed Aitor as the Squad made a turn in the road only to come face to face with two lines of figures blocking the road. For a moment he was confused until a figure stepped out from the line with a sword in hand, when he did the front row of men dropped down to one knee and raised longbows. Behind them, the others raised crossbows and all the samurai knew they had walked into a death trap.

"That is not fair." Complained Aitor

"Fire!" yelled the man with the sword as dozens of crossbow bolts and arrows shot forward each one tipped with Aldhard points.

Above their heads Sai's bird turned in the sky as he confirmed the death of the samurai squad.

"Alright move down the road two streets and wait for the next squad of samurai," ordered one of the operators who stood on the edge of Sai's ink bird with radios in hand and binoculars in on their eyes.

"The samurai's aren't moving as fast as I would thought?" asked one of the operators to Sai as he sat cross-legged at the head of the bird.

"To get 20,000 fighting men on the moves takes a lot of time but when they do start moving they will hit like a hammer that is why we need to reach our goals." Reported Sai as the bird moved away from the beach where teams of ninjas, sea dragon warriors and human warriors from the land of Granite poured through the now undefended gate. Sai could already see that they had the old knight castle surrounded. The old castle like the new one going up was surrounded by a quarter mile of open land surrounded by a high wall, the granite country archers had gained that wall and now had the castle cut off from the city. Sai turned the bird back toward the main samurai force, knowing that their only hopes to win the day was to also gain the wall which surrounded the new half-finished samurai castle.

Down near the main gate which separated the city itself from the new Samurai castle Mifune moved down the line of foot soldiers who were preparing to march toward the harbor walls.

"Move faster." snapped the seasoned battle commander as he placed his hands behind his back. He had been on the battlefield since he was a 13-year-old squire but something about this battle did not sit right with him. Too many blows where landing to fast in different parts of the nation, this had been planned out carefully by some unknown force.

"Grandfather." came a voice as Mifune turned to see his fourteen-year-old grandson and squire standing there in his own armor. Young Katsumi looked like his grandfather when he was younger with the same black eyes and deep reddish brown hair, which had turned gray in his grandfather. "What are your orders for me?"

"Katsumi, I want you to stay here." ordered Mifune to his grandson who could not hid his disappointment from him. "You will have time to prove yourself in battle I need you here to get the rest of the forces combat ready."

"Yes, grandfather." Said Katsumi before an aid ran forward.

"General Mifune, we have lost the city harbor wall the enemy have entered the city." Reported the aid as Mifune eyes narrowed at the news. "They have some kind of ninja force with them."

"Ninjas?" asked Katsumi

"A mercenary force most likely made out of the ninjas from the north who had fought for Madara?" offered up the aid.

"How far have they breached into the city?" asked Katsumi until he noticed that his grandfather was not looking at the aid but instead toward the city. Katsumi followed his grandfather's eyes only to see a single figure standing in the middle of the road dressed in a strange black armor with a black cape flapping behind him. His face was covered along with the rest of his body. Moments later five more figures joined him, the others had the same armor minus the black cloak.

"They are here," stated Mifune as he moved forward toward the one with the cape his hand on his sword waiting to draw it. "Unless my old eyes are failing me you are the leader right?"

"Yes." confirmed the man in a deep voice as he raised his own hand to a sword hilt on his back, pulling out a long sword, which had a strange pure white coloring to it.

"Then you came a long way to die." stated the best swordsman in the world before turning back to the samurai who were pulling their own weapons "Do not interfere with me unless they do."

"Yes, General." confirmed the aid as the man lowered his head a bit.

"Stay back." ordered the man with the white sword as he moved toward the best sword fighter in the world his own sword raised and ready for a fight.

Well I hope you liked this chapter and how long it was. Next chapter will be a sword fight between Naruto and Mifune, also you will finally find out the fate of Konohamaru. I have also posted a brief clip of a story idea I am working on so please go to my profile and read it to tell me what you think. Now until next time I hope you keep reading, thanks Wilkins75.
