Chapter 58 The Day is Here Near

As dawn broke over the land of Granite the people knew that the day everyone in the twin villages of Shimagakure and Nadeji had been fearing for just under four years was less than five days away from arriving and today it would begin. The train, which would take their daimyo to the city of Celin on the boarder of the land of Savanah and the Land of Wind. It was there that the traditional meeting of all the Daimyo's and Kages would be held. It was there that the Masquerade would end and the world would know where the demons had gone. They had prepared every day since they arrived in their new home for this day and a lot of the burden of designing those defenses had fallen on Shikamaru Nara.

He had not found sleep the night before as he sat in his study looking at the chess board which he had set up on the desk. That was how Temari found him in the predawn light; none of the pieces had not even been moved.

"I think the only one who got any sleep last night was the little boy." stated Temari as she stood in the doorway in a pair of sweat pants and a tank top with the Nara Clan symbol on the shoulder. Her husband knew what she meant by little boy now, it was no longer her nickname for him but was now the nickname for their son. For the longest time either one of them spoke before finally Shikamaru spoke up.

"We will have to face our families," stated Shikamaru

"I know." admitted Temari "Hell I will be more likely to face them then you, since with your leg you can't serve on the front line you will be in the back helping respond to the moves your father comes up with to counter your defenses. He will need to think of some good ones to get past the defenses you came up and combine them with Tenten's weapon they are in trouble. I may actually come face to face with one of my brothers in the field."

"True." admitted Shikamaru "And I don't pity Kiba, he is the most likely to come face to face with his family."

Before anything else could be said a baby's cry came from the next room causing both of them to look toward the room.

"Looks like the little boy is awake." noted Temari with a laugh "I'll go feed him you start making breakfast."

"Alright." said Shikamaru as he started heading downstairs while Temari went back into the bedroom and toward the crib.

Across the valley outside the walls of the city, Karui and Kiba had managed to finally get two hours uninterrupted sleep for the first time since the kids where born when a cry filled the air causing both of them to wake up but without opening their eyes.

"It's your turn," reported Kiba still mostly asleep "I had the last two."

"I hate you," cursed Karui as she rolled out of bed.

"I hate you to." Laughed Kiba as closed his eyes as Karui moved to the room, the room had become the nursery and was painted a sort of forest green with wallpaper with cut puppies running around and playing with toys. However the six animals in the room were far from the cut little puppies in the wallpaper, ever since they brought the girls home a pack of the dire wolves had surrounded them at all times. When their friends had come over to say hello to the three girls and the wolves groweled when Samui picked up one of the girls. It took her a few moments to figure which one of the three daughters was crying, turned out this time it was the middle child Kacela Inuzuka. Her older sister by a few minutes Kibira and her youngest of the tripplets Kainda were still asleep. Slowly she picked up Kacela who almost instantly calmed down once she was in her mother's arms. She moved around the wolves before finally reaching the rocking chair in the corner of the room by the window.

She sat down and started rocking back and forth, as her daughter rested in her arms, suddenly another cry began to fill the air as the youngest and smallest of the three children Kainda started crying. Karui was about to stand up to get her other daughter when one of the Dire wolves female stood up and picked up a sleeping pup in her teeth. The pup wined a little bit due for being woken up suddenly by her mother but the mother paid no mind. Karui watched as the she-wolf dropped the pup gently beside the crying child. Then right before Karui's eyes her daughter stopped crying as the wolf pup lied down beside her daughter and together the two of them fell asleep.

"You couldn't have done the same thing with this one?" inquired Karui as the large wolf moved to lie back down with her other pups. She did not know how long she sat there holding her daughter.

She never heard the door opening as Kiba looked in to see her sleeping in the chair with Kainda in her arms. Everything else was peaceful as he opened the door wider as the wolves one by one moved out of the room only to be replaced by another group of wolves. He had never seen or even heard of anything like this happening in the long history of his clan back in the leaf but the moment they brought the girls home the wolves had watched over them day and night. Even when they brought them out of the nursery, at least two wolves would follow each kid.

Elsewhere in the village Naruto was lying flat on his back looking up at the ceiling he knew that today he, Ino and a handful of others would be boarding a train which would take them to Celin on the boarder of the land of Savanah and the land of Wind. That would take a couple of days and then after a day of rest the opening ceremony for the meeting of the worlds Daimyo, Kages and other leaders would begin. Once that started there would be no more hiding and unless by some act of God happened a war would begin which would cost thousands of lives. He could hear the shower running and he could hear Ino and Hinata moving downstairs getting breakfast ready.

Slowly he stood up stretching a bit as he padded off toward the neighboring nursery. The room was painted a light tan with teddy bear wallpaper running around the room. A changing table and two rocking chairs where in the room and in the center of the room was a handmade wooden crib which Naruto had a local carpenter made for them. Naruto did not try to make a sound but still a pair of bright green eyes and a second pair of blue eyes were looking at him.

"Morning you three," said Naruto as he looked at the oldest of the three first, Leilani. She was almost two now but because of the fact that they age two times slower she was only one. He could not hid the fact that she had his shade of blonde hair but she looked so much like Ino it was scary.

"And did you sleep well little man?" inquired Naruto as he then turned to the other standing child, the year old but actually only six month old Minato Namikaze. He had his grandmother on his father side and his great grandfather on his mother side deep red hair but he did have Sakura's deep green eyes. As Sakura was fond of saying if you dyed his hair blonde and changed the color of his eyes, he was like a small clone of Naruto. The two children smiled up at their father as Naruto's eyes moved toward his second daughter as he remembered the restless day he had on her and her brother's birth.

Flashback

"It's a girl." said Rin as she wrapped the newly born daughter of Naruto and Hinata in a pink blanket before being put in the arms of her very tired mother.

"She is beautiful," said Hinata as she looked down at her daughter, as Naruto kissed her forehead.

"Yes she is," confirmed Naruto "What should we name her?"

"Yuina." confirmed Hinata with a smile.

"Well looks like little Lielani now has a sister." said Ino with a smile as she looked at the newborn life.

"Where is Sakura I thought she would want to be here?" inquired Hinata

"Well…" said Ino as she looked out the door "Her water broke about ten minutes ago and Shizune forced her out of the room, you two just didn't notice because of this little angel coming into the world."

"What?" asked Naruto as Hinata laughed.

"Go, we will be fine here," said Hinata "I think I'll just get some sleep."

"I'll stay with them you go hold foreheads hand." ordered Ino as Naruto moved to leave as he left the room he heard Ino speak up again.

"With her strength maybe Sakura will break his hand," added Ino as Hinata laughed at the idea.

End Flashback

In the end, Sakura did not break his hand but she had come close.

"Remember the first time those three slept through the night?" inquired Sakura as she moved up behind Naruto, her hair was still wet from the shower and her cloths where damp.

"Yes." laughed Naruto he had remember that first night when all three of them had gotten a sleep. They had settled on a sort of rotation where one of them would go each time someone cried. Naruto had been worried that the babies would not like being held by someone other than their mother but they loved whoever held them as long as it was something they knew. "And I also remember how they made us pay for that the next day."

"True." admitted Sakura as she moved to picked up little Yuina who even though she was in Sakura's arms instead of her mother Hinata's arms she was sound asleep, she would let Naruto deal with the two awake children. "Come on let's take these three rascals down stairs and then we can get you and Ino off on your train trip."

A few miles away Choji was walking through a large tunnel cut inside one of the mountains, which surrounded the valley. He had woken up early so that he could finish something, which should have been done yesterday as well as check in on his little project. As head of the achicle for the entire nation of Granite, he had been busy when they first started the village setting up all the farms and getting enough food to feed the new population. He had been lucky that the soil they had in the valley had been virgin river soil meaning that it was rich with nutrients and growing food was easy. They had had record harvests in the first three years however, this year it had been slightly less than the first three.

They knew that once they were discovered it was almost certainly be at war and cargo ships contain items such as coffee and tea from tea country or chocolate from the land of Hot Water to name a few would stop coming. So while they could live without those items it was a comfort of life which people wanted and so they had started stockpiling them.

"One…two…three…" counted Choji as he marked each of the 1,000 gallon drums each of them full with coffee beans. With the cool dry temperature in the mountain the beans could last almost 30 years but given that these beans would supply a whole nation they wouldn't last that long. The best estimate was ten years at current rate but during a war, it dropped to five. Which is where his little project went into effect. After counting all the gallon drums he moved into the largest of the rooms cut into the rock face, the moment he stepped inside he was hit with a wave of moister and heat. Inside where lines of small plants sitting under sunlight with a watering system on timers, he was attempting to grow some of the food they could not grow naturally here. His test case had proven it was possible but now he had to try to grow food on a village wide scale. He knew this was impossibly but it might stretch out their current reserves long enough for an end of the war, which was coming.

A few hundreds miles away from Choji near the Granite boarder with the land of Bronze the plan for said war was being finalized.

"I still don't like the idea that Naruto isn't here." Stated Sai as he stood on one side of the map table around the table where the commanders whose job was to defend their new homes. There was Sasuke second in command of all forces and head of the ANBU core, Kakashi the head of the defense for the two main villages, only Naruto was of higher rank. Next was Neji who had been given command of the main defense line at black snake pass he would have the hardest job since he would likely have the most forces thrown against him. The new comer to the command table was Anko who had been given command of defending the forces between black snake pass and the villages; she had the most land to protect and had to plan for a breach of the main defenses. Finally Suigetsu who would command the defenses of the sea road.

"Naruto doesn't want to be here in case he get captured and the Yamamaka clan uses their mind reading justu on him." explained Kakashi

"Doesn't the Kyuubi protect him from having his mind from being read?" inquired Anko "And I thought in this conference no one could be harmed? Orochimaru almost went to one as the leader of the sound and if he had they couldn't have touched him."

"True but why take the risk of them breaking their word and having information fall into their hands." stated Neji "Now let's assume that they decide to go to war once they find out we are down they would likely amass here in Celen on the boarder of land of Savanah and the Wind country."

"Agreed the land of wind lacks fresh water sources to supply a large army in the field for long and it will take a while for all the forces to gather." stated Sasuke "Shino estimates two weeks before they could possibly move on us however we will go on alert once the meeting starts."

"Well once we see an army marching down the road we will use some of those new weapons white eyes wife came up with," laughed Suigetsu as Neji's eyes narrowed at the insult.

"No hold off on those until they make a make a camp, they seem to work best against stationary targets," stated Neji

"How are we doing for weapons?" inquired Anko

"More than enough and we have the people to use them." stated Neji even he was surprised at how the natives of the land Granite had accepted them, maybe it was because Ino was a much better leader then their last Daimyo or the fact they have new homes and food. It could also be the fact that Naruto had integrated the normal humans and the demons into a single united military force under the same symbol. Now it was not without its levels of power, the demons who were mostly ninjas so they were the higher ranks while the normal humans who had less combat experience were the lower ranks. The lower ranks where mostly archers or on the supply side while the ninjas where on the front line.

"The thing is that while we have a lot of people we along with the Land of Meteors and Animals are pretty much going up against the rest of the world." stated Sai "Our defenses are strong but they can wore us down like wind eroding a stone."

"And Naruto doesn't want to go on the offensive." stated Anko

"I can't say I am totally against that." defended Kakashi as he came to the defense of his old student "We may say we have cut all ties with our hold homes but it may be different if we are crossing swords against our old friends in our old homes."

"Defense will only take us so far," stated Anko as she shared information that everyone already knew "Sooner or later we will have to go on the attack."

"Worry about offensive operations later," said Sasuke as he spoke for the first time, he had just stood there and listened to all the talk. "First we defend or home then I will get dead last to see the truth."

A few hours later, a train was rocking down the tracks as Ino Yamamaka looked out the window of the private car as it crossed over the land she technically owned as Daimyo. Before her was the rolling pine forest covered hills which were very common around the tall mountains which surrounded her nation. The sun was already going down and when it rose, again they would be in the land of Bronze. The train was going straight through all the stops without coming to a stop so for the next couple of days this was their home.

"We should be there in four days," reported Naruto as he sat down beside her, the two of them had the entire car to themselves. To call it a passenger car was kind of pointless, it was in fact the old Daimyo's luxury car which had been slightly modified by Ino. The car had cherry wood panels with dark oak highlights. The car had a large couch, chairs, a game board, a stock bar and a full bathroom and master bedroom in the back. She had removed the pool table and replaced it with another couch, which could be pulled out into a bed for guests.

"Counting today that makes five days to get there, the conference is ten days long and then it will take five days to get home," stated Ino "So twenty days without seeing the kids, I haven't been away from Leilani for more than a few hours."

"Well Sakura-chan and Hinata-chan are looking after them, they will be fine." admitted Naruto "And more than likely it will be a lot shorter once they see who we are."

"You're taking this better than me." laughed Ino

"You should have seen me when I headed for the wedding in the land of animals; I almost ordered the ship to turn around multiple times." explained Naruto "But I knew they were safe back home."

"And that another thing I have to do, I have to explain to their Queen why I didn't showed up for the wedding." stated Ino as Naruto placed his hand on top of her.

"I told them you wanted to spend time with your mother before she had to go back home and they understood." explained Naruto before lifting her hand up and kissing it "Besides they were more interested in the one hundred suits of Aldhard armor that we gave them as a gift."

"Shino knows to get my mom out of the Leaf once this meeting starts?" inquired Ino for the hundredth time.

"Yes, he knows." confirmed Naruto as the train moved down the track heading toward a date with the other Daimyos. Slowly Ino stood up and stretched a bit.

"Come on let's get some sleep." ordered Ino as she took Naruto's hand and led him back toward the private bedroom. Within a couple of minutes the two of them had changed into sleeping attire which was a tank top and shorts for Ino and a shirt and shorts for Naruto.

"Night Ino-chan." said Naruto as she rested her head on Naruto's chest as Naruto put his face in her hair just enjoying her scent.

"Night Naruto-kun." said Ino half asleep "I wonder what forehead and Hinata are doing right now?"

A day train ride away from them back in their home Hinata and Sakura where busy, the children had been put down and with any luck, they would sleep through the night. In fact the two women were counting on that a Hinata fell backwards onto the bed seconds later Sakura fell on top of her their faces only inches away from each other.

The two of them did not even say a word as their lips locked as Hinata's hands moved up Sakura's legs, which was straddling her. Both women where dressed in bras and panty sets which soon found their way to the bedroom floor.

"Likely going to bed." answered Naruto on the train as he pulled Ino closer to himself as they let sleep take them. Knowing that while they had a long train ride in front of them they still had to go over all the diplomatic rules with Temari who was in a car in front of them along with a few handpicked guards and aids.
