Chapter 9

Cave:

Tai groans as he comes to and then he registers where his face had ended up, right on Serena's growing chest. His face turns tomato red even as he sits up. He does a quick check on himself and finds he had no glaring injuries, then he does the same for Serena. With Cutemon's help her shoulder had finally been healed. She had no breaks either, though she did have a nice sized lump on her head. Tai looks around and spies Veemon with Yokomon, " Yokomon, Veemon, are you two all right? "

" Yeah, we're good, Tai. " Yokomon says.

" Any idea where Davis, Cutemon, Agumon, and Renamon are? " Tai asks.

" No, but I can find 'im. " Veemon says.

Tai fortunately sees Serena's backpack and grabs it, before picking up the blonde, " Lead the way, we need to find the others, fast. "

Veemon nods at this and heads out. He understood what Tai hadn't said, they needed to find the rest of their small group and then reunite with the other children as well. Devimon needed to go down. At least Leomon would be with one of them, that could only be considered a good thing, Leomon happened to be a strong champion.

Davis groans as he comes to and he sees Tai's partner, Serena's, and Cutemon, that meant Veemon was with Tai and Serena. Cutemon was already hard at work healing the other two rookies, " Good, you're awake, you took a nasty knock to your head so I healed you first. "

" Thanks, Cutemon. " Davis says and stands up, " Should we stay here and wait for Vee to lead the others to us or should we move on? "

Cutemon thinks this over, both options had their dangers. Staying put could also make them sitting ducks, she didn't like that idea yet, if they moved it might make it harder for Veemon and the others to find them as well. " Let's discuss that with Agumon and Renamon once they come to, okay, it should be a group decision. " Cutemon says.

" I can live with that. " Davis says.

Odaiba, Motomiya Apartment:

Tsukino Umika slams open the apartment door causing the three inhabitants of the apartment to jolt in alarm, " There you all are, we need to have a little chat about how you've been treating my grandson! "

Kyoko, matriarch of the family pales, that pathetic child was her grandson. The grandson of one the most dangerous demon hunters still alive. Daiki scoffs, " He was given up for adoption so what we do to him is our business, you old hag! "

Kyoko flinches as Umika's eyes flash and she fires off a spirit ball that slams into the wall beside her husband's head, leaving a gaping hole, " My son and daughter-in-law never told me about him, you spineless jackass. They gave him up because of his hair color! I already have custody of him since I have plenty of high leveled connections! "

Daiki gulps as he looks into the eyes of the irate demon huntress. Umika looks at Kyoko and her eyes narrow, " Don't think I won't tell your mother about what you've been up to. "

Kyoko blanches, her mother would kill her for how Daisuke was treated. Umika was good friends with her mother as well, " Just so you know, you'll be facing an inquiry from the police, those that work directly for the Emperor so I know they haven't been bought off too. Though you get to deal with your mother first, Kyoko-san. " Umika says and kicks Daiki in the gonads with a spirit enhanced kick for good measure.

Umika leaves the Motomiya home and heads straight for Sanada Sango's home, taking with her a copy of the video Meiou Aurista had sent her. Once Sango greets her dear friend she watches the video and her hands clench into fists before she gets her demon hunting outfit on and heads to her daughter's home. She raised her daughter better than that! Umika smirks as she watches her best friend go. Kyoko was soon going to regret her ways. Sango would take Jun in hand and teach her properly. If that meant training the girl into the ground her best friend would do it. Jun would be in for a very rude awakening.

If Davis were to even suspect what was happening on his behalf he wouldn't understand why. He had only ever been shown love and acceptance from Tai. He wouldn't be able to comprehend an adult helping him because it was the right thing to do. Then again he didn't know that he was adopted either and that he had already met his biological older sister.

Digi World:

Renamon and Agumon have finally come to and they discussed their options. Renamon would scout out the immediate area they were in before they did anything else. They needed to know the terrain and where to look for possible ambushes after all. The other three wait for Renamon to return only to hear the sounds of a fight break out. Renamon comes sailing back into view and a huge white snake slithers into view as well. " The one time we need Tentomon around is now. "

Cutemon's eyes have gotten wide, " Sandiramon! "

" You're telling me that we have to deal with a Deva? " Agumon asks even as he charges up his Cross Fire attack.

" Unfortunately, yes, and he's an Ultimate level digimon too. Renamon's the only one with a Champion form small enough to fight in here as well. " Cutemon admits.

" Great, so we're essentially screwed, right? " Davis asks.

" Not how I would have put it but, yes. " Cutemon ripostes.

" Fantastic, no way in hell am I dying here, not by a huge assed snake anyhow. " Davis snaps.

" Agreed. " Renamon says.

" No kidding. " Agumon states.

Just then Renamon starts to glow, " Renamon digivolve to…Youkomon! "

" Tai and the others must be close by if Renamon could digivolve. "

Indeed they were and Serena had just woken up. Youkomon was on the snake before Sandiramon could blink. As purple fox and snake battle it out Tai and the others come into view. Serena blinks, " That is one fucking big snake. "

" Tell me about it. Cutemon says that's Sandiramon, Agumon said he's a Deva. " Davis states.

Youkomon and Sandiramon struggle back and forth for dominance in the fight. " You can do it, Youkomon. Stomp on that pathetic snake. " Serena calls out.

Tai smirks, " You've got this, Youkomon, we believe in you. " Tai adds.

Serena hands some food out to the others while they watch fox and snake battle it out. Cutemon takes the time to heal Serena as well. The twelve year old sighs in relief at this, she hated head wounds. Having Cutemon around was quite the boon, truth be told. Youkomon was utilizing her Fire Ball and Jaenryu attacks along with tooth and claw liberally.

The others decide to get to know one another better while the fight is going on, Tai telling them about what happened with Kari, Davis about how his family treated him, and Serena about the way her family treated her as well. This bonded the three more closely together while the digimon watch the battle just so they could alert the humans if they needed to move. They moved on to talking about their hopes and dreams. Serena wanted to be a manga-ka, Davis wanted to own his own noodle cart, and Tai wanted to be a professional soccer player. They talked about how school and their classmates treated them as well. Tai was pretty popular while Serena and Davis just barely got any acknowledgement from anyone at school. Sure, Kari paid attention to Davis but, that was about it and Serena had Molly and the geek whom was crushing on her.

Their attention snaps to the battle, Tai's right hand interlocking with Serena's left without him noticing. Davis did but, he said nothing, even he could see the undercurrent between them. It would be fun watching their relationship develop, that was for sure. They watch as Sandiramon dissolves into particles of data at that moment, signaling victory for Youkomon. She returns to being Renamon and falls to one knee. Serena was quick to rush forward to her partner and give her some food. " We'll rest here for now and then move on. We need to get out of this cave and reunite with the others. " Serena says.

" Yeah, but Renamon is the only one with a Champion form small enough to fight in such confined quarters. " Tai points out.

" Tai-nii's right, we're gonna have to get creative if we want to survive getting out of this cave. "

" I'm a demon huntress, I can do creative, Dai. " Serena states.

" Once I am rested I can scout out the situation so we don't run head first into any more problems. " Renamon states as Serena grabs Yokomon and cuddles him.

The pink bulb like digimon starts to glow and Serena sits him down, " Yokomon digivolve to…Falcomon. "

Tai grins, " Way to go, Falcomon. You're growing up. "

" It's all thanks to you and Serena, Tai. " Falcomon says, " I believe if Renamon helps me with my stealth I can help out with the scouting as well. I am also quite adept at the ninja arts. "

" I would be honored to help you, Falcomon. " Renamon says.

Serena passes out some food and water while Agumon and Veemon act as look outs. They couldn't afford to let their guards down now. That would only set them up for more trouble.

Mt. Infinity:

Devimon snarls, that damned Youkomon had managed to win against Sandiramon, it shouldn't have been possible. At least all of his foes were separated for now. How the hell they kept getting out of the dangers he set up for them he had no clue, still he knew in the end they were merely meek human children and so easily broken.
