Chapter 67 Tonight We Rise

The burning wretches, which had once been the Kirigakure fleet, were still on the surface but it was only a matter of time until they found their final resting place at ocean floor. This was a sight for the people of Nadeji as they returned to their homes. At once plans for a massive celebrations began the nation which had once been nothing more than a punching bag for the great ninja nations had defeated them. Teams of small boats most of them fishing boat were sent out to pull survivors from the water but the destruction was so great the only thing they found was the remains of bodies.

While Nadeji was preparing for a celebrations the counter attack against the only other ninja force in the Land of Granite was in its final stages of preparation.

Naruto walked into the second floor of the wall. From the outside, it may appear that the wall was solid but it was closer to a building then a true wall. The entire thing was made out of pure Aldhard which had poured in place with a network of Aldhard beams for extra strength but there was whole rooms built into the wall.

This room was almost the length of the entire wall and had multiple outlets built into the walls down the center. It reminded Naruto of a locker room in one of the many baths houses that he went to when he was training with Jiriaya. Here instead of stripping down to take a dip in warm water the men and women here where dressing for war. In each locker had custom-made suits of armor which while costly offered the best protection.

"Lord Onikage, right this way." said a young gennin as he lead Naruto toward one of the larger lockers. Standing there was the suit of armor that Tenten and her team had made for him, in truth he would rather go into battle in his jonnin uniform but that would likely mean death in this battle.

"I hope you went to the bathroom because you will not have a real chance until after the battle," said the young Gennin.

"You have never been on a battle so I will let your foolishness go," said Sasuke who was halfway through getting his own armor on in the station next to Naruto. "When a person dies, often the body releases all the waste it has in it. After a massive battle the place reeks worst then any waste treatment center."

The gennin eyes widened as Sasuke gave a sick grin, which caused Naruto to look at his old teammate.

"Sasuke don't scare the kid," ordered Hinata as she walked up to her own station, unlike the knights of the land of Animals who would not let their own women fight over half of those from the land of Granite preparing to fight were women. Sasuke rolled his eyes as his own gennin placed a thick black breast plat over his body. His breastplate like all the others had the seal of their clan on it so that it would be easier to ID people on the battlefield.

"I hate these things, I can't use some of my best Justus and it gets really damn hot inside," admitted Sasuke as he put his hands into the gauntlets.

"True." said Hinata as she put chainmail over her own body. "But I would rather be hot then dead."

It took multiple hours but in the end the knights of the Land of Animals and the warriors of the Land of Bronze. Where fully dressed for battle, everyone had multiple layers of Aldhard armor. First, it was the Aldhard laced cloths, which had been padded to protect the body from blows. Second came a layer of chainmail, before finally the layer of plate armor, which covered most of the body.

The attacking force quickly moved out to where the horses which themselves had been armored.

"I hate horses," cursed Naruto as he got on his horse.

"I know but a leader has to lead from the front," explained Hinata as she got gracefully on her own white horse. "Also the sooner we get this over with the sooner we can go home and hold our children."

Naruto closed his eyes as he thought about his two girls and his little boy; he had not seen them in so long. He wanted in all his heart to go home and just watch all three of them sleep peacefully in their cribs.

"I hate that we have to do this," admitted Naruto quietly toward Hinata.

"You're not supposed to," confirmed Hinata as she looked over her shoulder to where the rest of the forces where gathered. "I think you should make a speech or something."

Naruto slowly turned to face the others either all of them had their helmets on or were about to.

"I know all of you are afraid." started Naruto "It is only natural, everyone from the most experienced Kage or Knight to the raw rookie experience fear when they are facing battle. I will not tell you that everyone will survive but more people survive a war then who die in it. We will have the element of surprise and the they will have no idea what hit them."

Naruto took a breath as he looked at the faces.

"For generations the ninja nations from the north have looked down on the southern nations, I was one of them. Then they began to look down on me for being a demon even after I became a hero to them. They tried to take away our rights, and then they came down here thinking that they would brush us aside with ease. Well we will not be brushed aside." Yelled Naruto "We will not let them treat us like this, we will show them what we can do, we will teach them that the days when they kicked us around are long gone, tonight we rise!"

There was a cheer, which came from the end of the speech as multiple people raised their weapons up to add to their cheers.

The bright lights, which had kept the ninja force up for days, normally came on just as the last rays of sunlight faded from the sky. The sleep deprived ninjas where counting down the moments until those lights turned back on for another night, those minutes passed and the lights didn't turn on.

"I guess they are letting us get some sleep," said a Leaf chunin with a laugh but the Jonnin around her where not laughing, they were on edge.

"Get up you fool they are likely going to attack us!" yelled the Jonnin

"Sir we have movement at the wall!" yelled a Sand chunin as he looked at the wall on the far side of the valley. While they were bathed in darkness, the wall had been light up. "The gates are opening."

"Everyone to your defensive positions!" yelled the head jonnin before turning toward the chunin with the binoculars "What is coming out?"

"I don't believe it," stated the Sand chunin

"What is it?" yelled the Leaf Chunin

"It's a Marching band," reported the confused Sand Chunin

"A marching band?" inquired the Jonnin as the sound of a marching band filled the valley with music.

"What are they doing?" inquired a chunin as a firework exploded over the wall filling the sky with red sparks. Moments later another explosion this one blue happened within minutes it became clear what was happening.

"They are throwing a party," cursed the Jonnin "They are actually throwing a party right in front of us."

"Those cocky SOBs." cursed the Sand chunin "Should we attack?"

"No they would have planned for that," countered the Jonnin as he looked up at the men and women dancing on top of the wall with drinks in their hands. "Inform the Kage maybe we should attack at dawn, maybe they will be drunk."

Little did they know that the drinks in the hands of the partiers was either water or juice of some kind, no beer of any kind was being served and in fact all of them where ready to run back inside at a the signal. Standing in the far back row of the wall stood Neji Hyuga, his white byakugan eyes scanning the valley, the ninjas had gone to combat stations when the show had started but they had calmed down when they saw the marching band and the fake party. The exploding fireworks filled the air with light as Neji remembered a different night.

Flashback

Fireworks filled the sky over the city of Nadeji as the celebration of the second anniversary of the rededication of the city. The streets where full of people enjoying the perfect weather and the massive street fair. Children which used to have to go through trash for food ran though the clean streets with full bellies.

The sound of exploding fireworks caused both former Leaf ninjas to look into the black sky. The show was about over and so the climax meant that greatest display of fireworks began. Neji watched multiple fireworks flew off the twin support towers of the great bridge.

Then something neither of them had ever seen happened. Four larger fireworks shot out of the towers then in midflight smaller fireworks shot out of the body of the larger one. It created a sort of pillar of pure color explosions.

"What was that?" inquired Neji as he looked at the effects.

"I don't know but I am going to find out," confirmed Tenten.

End Flashback

Neji looked over his shoulder to where the weapons sat, each of his wife's weapons sat on a moveable rail system. Each holder had three of the twelve-foot long rocket bodies; there was a total of twelve holders so there was now 36 of the most deadly weapons ever made pointed toward the expecting ninja force.

"Are we ready?" inquired Neji wishing he had not had to give this order.

"Sir we are ready, all we need to do is take cover and push the button." Reported the aid as Neji waited for the radio call which would tell him to launch the attack.

Down below Neji in the tunnels, which lead under the wall, sat the combine force of the Knights of the Land of Animals and warriors of the Land of Granite. The marching band was playing just outside the tunnel exits had two major goals, first it covered the clanking sound of metal on metal that the warriors and horses made as they moved. Second was to better sell the whole idea that it was a fake party.

"It's time." said Naruto as he turned his head toward Hinata who sat on her white horse beside him.

"Alright." confirmed Hinata as she tapped the side of her helmet activing the radio.

"Neji fire at will." Ordered Hinata

Seconds later, all the lights turned off and the marching band quickly moved to open clear paths for the knights. The Knights rode out at quickly formed up and began their charge across the valley toward battle. The fireworks kept firing but those partying on the wall ran inside, the rocket smoke was toxic when breathed. The moment everyone was inside Tenten's weapons were fired into the night.

The first wave of 12 flew through the air unseen by the ninja force, the night was black and the smoke that came the rocket engines blended in the smoke from the fireworks. Using a preset timer, which started when it took flight, went off. When that happened the thin metal sides of the back, half of the rocket flew off. Inside were three hundreds of small Aldhard balls each wrapped with multiple paper bombs. The rocket flew on as the small bombs began to descend their deadly decent. The rocket flew on a little bit more as the second timer went off and the final release happened dropping another three hundred small bombs.

With twelve rockets dropping 600 small bombs, each meant that there were now 7,200 descending bombs. While each bomb by itself was small, only strong, enough to snap the trunk of a young tree it was still highly deadly to the ninjas who had mostly tents for protection. Add to the fact that each bomb was encased in a thin Aldhard shell, which broke apart and sent Aldhard shards flying out at high speeds.

Most of the ninjas never even had a chance to even scream as the descending bombs went off within seconds of each other. The effects where devastating, the lucky ninjas took a bomb blast straight on killing them instantly most either had limbs blown off or lacerated by the flying shards of Aldhard metal. The survivors of the attack most of whom could hardly stand began to scream out in pain, the handful of unhurt ninjas began to yell commands only to hear something strange. They turned toward the source of the sound, which was in this case the wall only to see a wall of smoke. For a moment, nothing was there then they burst through the smoke, a massive line of people on horseback all in armored and with weapons lowered toward them.

"Die mother fu…." started one chunin as he tried to attack the first knight with a sword only to get speared through the head with the knight's lance.

Up on the wall, Neji watched the so called battle with a mixture of anger and shame. It was no real fight, the knights had formed a wedge shaped five men deep the entire length of the valley and had charged toward the ninjas. Each of the front row of knights had a nine-foot long lance, which was used to spear through the ninjas. Riding behind them the other knights had spears, long swords or other weapons.

"This is just slaughter," stated Neji more to himself than anything else, "How did it come to this?"

"Sir, they are almost in position," stated an aid as Neji nodded his head before ducking back inside the wall sealing the door behind him.

On the battlefield, Naruto was on horseback with his sword in hand cutting through those ninjas which where dumb enough to stand up after the first attack. The Knight's charge had reached the end of the valley and had now entered the narrow pass, which lead toward the boarder of the land of Bronze. The ninjas had placed most of their defenses in the front part of their camp while the middle and back part of the camp was for supplies.

The ninjas in the back and middle part of the camp was not the front line combat ready ninjas and the last thing they expected was armed and armored Knights riding into their camp killing as they went.

Her white horse was now splattered with blood as it trampled other ninjas which hadn't or couldn't get off the ground. With her byakugan eyes she was able to see the last of the Knights reach the narrow pass.

"Neji, this is Hinata…launch the second wave." ordered Hinata over her radio, knowing that within moments a second wave of rockets will be in flight.

The pass was narrow and the ninjas along with the knights where packed in close together that they were fighting shoulder to shoulder. This was a benefit to the knights who were up on horseback while the ninjas where on foot. They ninjas here stationed here either worked in supply department or was the wounded. Some tried to fight back and meet a quick death at the hands of attacking knights.

Down at the far end of black snake pass the third Tsuchikage Onoki was organizing the forces he had to from a defense. The old ninja still had no idea what was happening but the expolitions in the distance and fact that none of his commanders where reporting in over their radios meant he had to prepare his defenses.

"Get into position!" yelled Onoki as the ninjas kept pouring out of the mouth of the pass. "Get ready to defend yourself!"

Less than fifty yards away Lee was gathering his team beside a defendable position against the black stone of the mountains.

"This sticks!" cursed Chiasa Inuzuka as she held her nose and pointed toward the small cut in the rock face. It was just wide enough for a man to stand up and just deep enough to give the person some privacy. The ninjas decided to use this small cut in the rock as bathroom, so the smell of human waste was everywhere.

"What the hell is going on?" inquired Jun Nara as she scanned the entrees to the valley; the sound of fighting was coming from.

"I don't know," said Lee as he noticed a group of bugs landing on the small notebook pad that he kept on his belt.

"Shino?" thought Lee as he opened the notebook, instantly the bugs crawled on it and began to spell out words.

"Lee-sensie?" inquired Marai Sarutobi as she noticed that her sensei was looking up at the sky.

"Get into the cut now!" yelled Lee as his three gennin looked at him.

"But it smells in there!" countered Chiasa

"Just do it!" yelled Lee as he looked up, that is when he saw them. Descending down upon them was countless numbers of small balls of some kind. "NOW!"

Lee all but shoved the three girls into the cut in the rock, seconds after they entered the cut the world around them turned into hell.

The same effect that the weapon had on the first two strikes had the same effect here.

"My God!" yelled Marai as she, her teammates and her sensei looked out of the narrow black rock face at what had once been a field full of ninjas. It had been transformed into a field of fire and looked more as if the young genin's where looking down at a portal to hell.

They watched wide eyed as their fellow ninjas where torn apart by the explosions and then out of the fire and late explosions came multiple figures on horseback. They rode through the fire like demons cutting down anything that stood up or using spears to stab anyone moving on the ground.

"We have to get out there!" yelled Chiasa as Lee gripped her arm.

"We can't help them, they are already dead and if we go out there we are dead too." said Marai for her sensei

"Yes, we must be a witness to this so that we can tell everyone what happened here," confirmed Jun Nara as they looked at slaughter. Ninjas where being slaughtered as if they were fattened cattle and fires were burning out of control making the whole scene look like a horror movie.

The Aldhard armor did better than even Naruto had expected as they rode through what remained of the ninja camp. It protected them against the handful of late bomb blasts and from all the blows which the ninja force had thrown at them.

Naruto pulled his horse to a stop and looked through his visor at the field of fire and blood, which surrounded him. The tents where on fire, the smell of burning flesh covered the entire area like some deadly perfume and then there were the screams. The screams of the wounded, those screams would bring the knights down upon the wounded and while Naruto had ordered that they would take prisoners, he was not expecting much. The knights had come for a blood bath and people tended not to survive those.

"This is just horrible." said Naruto as he reached up and undid his helmet so that he could better see the burning remains of the field. "A whole ninja division, thousands of men and women all dead in less then five minutes."

"It just doesn't seem far." added Hinata as she rode up, her horse was splattered with blood and she held a long spear in her hands but other than that she seemed fine. "They didn't have time to do any Justus. We hit seconds after Tenten's weapon hit and we were on top of them before they had time to do hand signs."

"And your point is?" inquired Sasuke as he rode up, one of his sword was covered with blood while the other hung from the saddle. "This is war; it isn't supposed to be fair, we kill them before they kill us. It is as simple as that. What about the ones running across the bridge heading to Bronze country?"

"Let them go." ordered Naruto

"Sometimes your too weak dead last." snapped Sasuke

"It isn't weakness to show mercy." counted Hinata as she came to Naruto's defense.

"No, it isn't but the main reason why we are letting them go is so that they can tell what happened here to their leaders," reported Naruto as Sasuke gave a grin which Naruto did not like, one of approval.

"So we are planting the seeds of fear are we?" inquired Sasuke "I like it."

"In a way, seeds of fear which I hope will cause them to come to the peace table," said Naruto before looking at Hinata. "Order everyone back to the wall and inform the medical and recovery teams that they can head out to clear the field when they please."

"No problem Naruto-kun." confirmed Hinata

"We are done here," said Naruto as he along with Hinata and Sasuke turned to head back to the wall. Within moments, the radio message was sent to all the knights and ninjas as the attacking force headed back home leaving a field full of dead bodies behind them. "It is time to go home."
