James rubbed his head, whimpering. The kids laughed, except for the youngest daughter. She mcame running to him. "Daddy? Okay? Mommy hit?" she gently pat him on the back.
James instantly blushed and gave her a big hug, smiling. "My princess! You're the only one who cares about me!"
"Give it time." Jessie remarked coldly.
James pouted at her, then remembered what had been going on before his mild concussion. "Oh..." he said, touching his face, realizing his glasses were gone.
"James?" Brock said cautiously.
James panicked briefly. He sweatdropped and looked at Jessie, the kids, Ash, and then back at Brock, before nodding reluctantly and hanging his head.
Ash gasped. "James? From Team-mmph!"
Meowth had jumped onto Ash's shoulders and covered his mouth with his paws. "Shh!" he hissed. "Dose two are keepin da past a secret! Don't say da R woid!"
Brock and James nodded. The kids looked at the adults suspiciously.
Rowan pointed at Ash. "You know my dad?"
Ross pointed at James. "You know Ash Ketchum?!"
James put his hands up defensively. "It was before you were born!"
Jessie laughed nervously. "You see, we were...friends."
Ash glared at Jessie. "What?! Friends? We were enemies!"
James shifted uneasily. "Frenemies. We were frenemies! Um...er...We caused them a lot of..."
Another child, a girl with purple hair, cocked an eyebrow. "A lot of...?"
Brock answered flatly. "Trouble?"
Jessie and James couldn't resist. They sprung into a pose. "Prepare for trouble!"
"And make it double!"
Meowth went and gave them a quick Fury Swipe in their faces to stop them from making a huge mistake.
"Hey!"
"Ow! What was that for?!"
Meowth went on to explain to the kids. "You see, we three used to play pranks on dese twerps...I mean, fine young gentlemen."
Ash took a menacing step towards them. "Pranks?!" Brock stepped in like a referee. "Listen, they did some bad stuff to us but we did have a lot of adventures together, and we helped each other out a few times too."
James nodded. Jessie shrugged. Ash sighed, looking at Brock. "I...guess so." he mumbled grudgingly.
There was an awkward silence and Jessie and James looked at Brock. He appeared to be looking at Jessie. She glared at him. "What are you looking at?"
"You are Jessie, right?"
Jessie hit him in the same way she hit James. "Who else would I be?!" she growled. James sweatdropped.
"The hair...and outfit..." Brock replied weakly.
Jessie had her hair in a high ponytail with a yellow ribbon, and wore an orange body hugging high-waisted miniskirt with straps over a white t-shirt with loose black knee high boots. "I know, I look fabulous but really!" she huffed.
Ash looked at them suspiciously. "You really did quit, huh?"
Jessie and James looked at each other. "It's a permanent hiatus."
Ash blinked. "Um, okay, whatever, just as long as you don't do any bad stuff."
James put a hand up as if he was saying an oath. "Absolutely no more bad stuff. We work for them now." he motioned to the children.
Brock smiled. "You're parents now...Are these all your children? Are they twins? Triplets?"
Jessie smiled with pride. "Let me introduce them!"
Rowan and Ross sighed.
"Rowan and Ross, my oldest sons! They work hard and play hard and get their fiery red hair from yours truly!"
"The temper as well..." James mumbled. Jessie glared at him.
"And next, is my oldest daughter, Rochelle! She was born exactly one year after the twins-"
"Because 'dey didn't tink it would happen dat fast'..." quipped Meowth.
"The name is kind of a combination between "Rose" and "Michelle"...we argued about it and when we said the names at the same time they became Rochelle." said James.
"Just like her mother, she has a natural talent in anything she pursues!" Jessie continued, James sweatdropping.
"And last, but not least, is my little princess Roxanne, Roxy for short." James gushed, holding his youngest daughter. "She was born way too early due to some problems...She was so tiny, and had to be held in the hospital for almost a month. I stayed by her bedside day and night...and when she finally came home, I brushed my hair and found some of it had turned white!" said James dramatically.
Ash blinked vacantly, and Brock nodded awkwardly. "Well, uh...nice to meet all of you."
"Daddy!" Roxy pointed to the tank. Various water pokemon were starting to wim around. The lights dimmed once.
"Well, we should take our seats." said Ash. They all sat down. The kids sat together, then Jessie and James with Roxy in his lap and Meowth on his shoulders, and then one open seat, and Ash, and Brock. Brock looked at the open seat. "Is someone else coming?"
Ash sighed. "She had a last minute rehearsal...and my mom couldn't come either, she said she had a lot to do today..."
"Oh, that's too bad. said Brock. He turned to James. "You can use the seat if you like."
Meowth jumped off of James' shoulders and onto the seat. "Tanks!"
"I heard you had an extra seat, has it already been taken?" a familiar female voice asked.
"Misty!" Ash and Brock exclaimed. The guests around them instantly noticed and the whole audience began to whisper excitedly. Misty blushed.
She wore her hair in a side ponytail with a yellow scrunchie, and a long, loose aqua colored t-shirt with a Goldeen on the front over dark blue leggings and red sandals.
"I thought you were out sick today..." said Ash, looking concerned.
Ross, Rowan and Rochelle were starry-eyed. "That's one of the Gym Leaders! She's so pretty!" Other spectators were now taking pictures. Misty blushed and waved at everyone.
"Well, I won't be doing the shows for a while...I came today to make an announcement..."
She then noticed the adorable little girl in James' lap and the Meowth in the seat next to them.
"Oh, you are so cute! And this Meowth! Is it yours?" she gushed.
Roxy nodded. "Yeah!"
Meowth sweatdropped. "I'm not your pokemon! More like a babysitter..." he scoffed.
Misty gasped. "A talking Meowth?" She looked at the two adults suspiciously and her expression went from friendly to fierce.
"You two?! What are you doing here?" she snapped.
James gulped. "Nothing! I swear!"
Jessie glared back. "We're here to enjoy the water ballet with our family, if you don't mind, twerpette!"
Misty blinked, surprised. She looked at Ash and Brock, who were sweatdropping and nodding along with them. She looked back at Jessie and James. "Well, just don't try anything, because I'll be watching you!"
"Yes ma'am." James mumbled guiltily.
"Anyway, we have an announcement to make!" said Misty, grabbing her friend's hand.
Jessie and James looked at each other. Today was certainly full of surprises, and they had a feeling there would be plenty more to come...
