Ash was giving a speech to all the eager children, including Jessie and James's.
Jessie and James, however, didn't hear a word he was saying. They were in the midst of deep disappointment, that all too familiar feeling of having been defeated at the hands of this boy 15 years younger than them. This quickly escalated into an argument.
Jessie pointed accusingly at James. "I thought your Arcanine was better than that!"
James shook his head. "Perhaps not against a Charizard! Why didn't you choose the Gyarados?"
Jessie scoffed. "We both know it only listens when it feels like it..." They sighed in unison.
Meowth scowled "The battle started going sour when Cofagrigus came out...You know he only thinks about trying to get my coin!"
James shrugged. "He happens to like gold things!"
Jessie glared at Wobbuffet. "We would have had a better chance if I had gotten to choose my first pokemon...instead of you just jumping out of your pokeball as usual..."
Wobbuffet saluted obliviously. "WOBBUFFET!"
James shook his head. "Anyway, as soon as the lecture is over, we are out of here, I can't stand to show my face around here anymore." he said sadly.
Jessie clenched her fist. "I want a rematch!"
James looked at her blankly. "I'm going to go hide somewhere."
Jessie stood up and went after him. "You're such a drama queen, I'm the one that lost!"
Just then, Delia Ketchum walked up to them. "Ash's friends? Oh, I'm so glad you made it! I have so many things to run by with you!"
Jessie and James looked at each other, confused.
"You are Ash's friends, right? The ones he said would come today to help me with the wedding plans. The high ranking Pokemon Coordinators...What were your names again?"
James put up a hand to protest and Jessie quickly smacked it down and pulled him aside.
"What was that for?" he whispered.
"He can't keep the bride's name a secret from us just out of spite, that twerp. We will find out that name plus anything and everything we want to know! That will show him!"
James sighed and nodded. Jessie would stop at nothing to get revenge.
"My name's Jessie."
"And I'm James."
"Of course! I had those names at the tip of my tongue!"
At the Ketchum home, the three adults perused the designs.
"Pikachu's the ring bearer?...Precious." said James with a small smile.
Jessie looked at the picture of the dress with starry eyes. "This is gorgeous! It would suit me better, of course." she grinned.
James sweatdropped. "Moving on...are you sure about all the yellow?" he wrinkled his nose.
Delia nodded. "They were both insistent on all the yellow because both their main pokemon happen to be yellow..."
James tilted his head, looking at the suits, bridesmaid dresses, flower arrangements, altar, and other designs. "If they wanted to feature the yellow pokemon, wouldn't it make more sense to use neutral and contrasting colors with yellow accents?"
Delia blinked. "How so?"
James brought out a handheld computer, which scanned the designs. He changed the main colors from yellow to a palette of navy, sky blue, and pink.
Delia's eyes sparkled. "Wow! You're so talented! You're right, this really would make the Pokemon stand out more!"
Before they knew it, a few hours had passed. The rest of the children were starting to leave and so Jessie and James grudgingly started to get ready to get their kids and leave. Delia stood up.
"Thank you two so much for coming out here to do this...I mean, the bride's mother has very good sense and she did most of the designs, but I just wanted a second, and third opinion, you know, being that this is the wedding between the Pokemon Master of Kanto and the Pokemon Idol of Kalos."
Jessie and James glanced at each other. Delia blinked. "Oh, perhaps you traveled with Ash at a different point in time and haven't met Serena?"
They nodded. "I guess so." said Jessie.
Delia smiled. "Well, it might be a little sudden but at least you'll met her at the wedding! I was actually looking at the guest list and it seems like maybe you didn't RSVP...I took the liberty of adding you two and you're welcome to bring guests!"
"Really?" Jessie and James gasped in unison before regaining their composure.
"I mean, of course, it must have gotten lost in the mail!" Jessie giggled nervously.
"It would be our honor!" James added. They rushed out, giggling.
"This is even more perfect than we planned! Not only did we find out the bride's name, but we're going to crash the wedding as well!" James giggled.
They gathered their brood of children to drive back to their house. Ash glanced at them as they were going, with a smug grin. Jessie and James grinned back, prompting Ash to get momentarily confused, and then he shrugged and went back to talking with Professor Oak.
