Ash walked around the large indoor battle arena which had been decorated and filled with chairs for the reception party. This quiet room would soon be filled with all of his best friends. At one end of the room was a particularly extravagant table with two large decorated chairs. That was where he would sit, with his beautiful bride.
He had known Serena since they were very young, they met at a Pokemon camp in Pallet town before they were even old enough to start their journeys. They met up again when Ash started moving across the Kalos region, and Serena started competing in the Tripokalon. They eventually parted ways again after the Kalos league, and when Serena had advanced to the last round of the Tripokalon the year they turned 16, he went to see her and watched her finally win her crown as the Kalos Queen. He joined her for the celebration, and she confessed her longtime crush on him soon after as they were gazing at the stars together. Up until that point, he had no interest in anything except Pokemon battles, but as he looked in her eyes, something inside him stirred and gradually, he came to accept her love and became acquainted with the thing called romance. He finally proposed to her after being defeated in the last round of one of the biggest world Pokemon tournaments that were held every summer. She was ecstatic and accepted, but under the condition that he wouldn't give up on the tournament and go for it until the won.
Ash looked out the window to all of the chairs on the grass and an outdoor altar set up for the ceremony. He heard the sound of Pikachu's little feet bounding into the room. Pikachu sat before him, looking up.
"Pikapi, pika pikachu?"
"Am I nervous? Maybe a little bit. I've battled so many times before, but this is the first time I'm going to be doing something like...this."
"Pikachu, pikapi." Pikachu gave him an encouraging smile.
"Thanks, buddy."
They went to walk back out the door. Luckily neither Ash or Pikachu noticed the name cards on the table with "Jessie" and "James" and "Guests" written on them.
James wore his hair in a ponytail, a fedora, and a pinstriped shirt, vest, and trousers.
Jessie wore a maroon colored long sleeved dress that hugged her curves.
They were fashionably late, as usual, and there was a line of cars. The "triplets" were getting noisier by the second. The "little princess" was at home with Nanny and Pop-pop.
"Looks like there's valet parking."
"Was that in the budget?" mused James.
"Yes, it was. She said she got a great deal on a valet, cloaking, and pokemon-watching service." answered Jessie.
"Pokemon watching?" said Meowth suspiciously.
"Except for the bride and groom's pokemon, pokemon won't be allowed at the ceremony or reception." James read off of the invitation Delia had re-sent them.
"So dat means no free food for Meowth?"
"We'll try and smuggle you some." James said apologetically.
"Tanks a lot…" Meowth grumbled.
Finally, their turn came and they pulled up to the entrance of Oak's grounds. A nondescript young man in black with a hat that shaded over his eyes held out a brown lock box.
"Thank you for coming today. Please place all of your pokeballs in the lock box. It will stay in the vehicle and all will be returned to you when you are ready to leave."
Jessie raised an eyebrow. Why the extra step? She thought. She sighed and put Wobbuffet's pokeball in the box. James put Mime Jr. and Chimeco's pokeballs in the box.
"What about the Meowth?"
"Oh, he doesn't have a pokeball…" James started nervously.
"So he's one of those. That's fine, we have an area for loose Pokemon too."
They stepped out of the car and James handed the keys to the valet.
"See you later, Meowth." said Rochelle, giving him a hug.
Meowth sighed as the nondescript young man climbed into the driver's seat and started to drive to the parking area. After a few minutes, they arrived at the parking area. The man turned off the ignition, took the keys and put them on a pegboard under the corresponding number. The parking lot seemed like a sea of cars, and he could see a couple other men walking back toward's Professor Oak's place. More cars were pulling up nearby.
And then Meowth noticed something in the distance. Two figures in the distance, pushing a cart towards a large cargo truck. They then started to load boxes into the truck. It was far away, and the whole area was shaded under large trees, but the boxes looked like the same lock box that was in the back seat beside him. Something wasn't right about this. There was also a large bag of some sort that they loaded into the truck.
Meowth watched intently as they finished loading, and pushed the now empty cart back towards the parking lot. He gasped as they came into the sunlight. He grabbed the lock box, unlocked the door, and made a run for it.
