Chapter Six:
Dream Catcher Part Two

When Kagome realized that everyone had vanished from behind her, she was already halfway into the path. Something urged her forward, compelling her to continue walking along the path. She allowed herself to be pulled farther in, hoping that she'd come across the others soon.

When the trail stopped, she was standing at the front steps of what looked to be a hut of sorts. It was larger than a hut but smaller than that of a lord's house. Definitely a hut built for more than just a single person.

She walked up the front steps and knocked lightly on the front door. "Hello," she called, "anyone home?"

The bamboo curtain that marked the entrance to the hut was pulled to the side. Her eyes opened wide as the person came into view.

"You are surprised to see me?" He asked.

"Se-Sesshomaru," Kagome said, "how- why-"

"I came here because I was wondering if it was safe," he said.

Kagome smiled, "Thank you. Was there anyone inside?" She asked.

He shook his head ever so slightly, an odd gesture that she took note of. "So what do we do now?" She asked.

"We look elsewhere for the Dream Catcher," he replied.

"How'd you know I was searching for the Dream Catcher?" She asked him, honestly curious.

"I had heard of the Dream Catcher while on my travels," he replied.

"I see," Kagome said. Kagome went ahead and dismissed the fact that he was there. He did tend to show up at random when the others weren't around anyway.

They walked around the hut a bit longer before going even further into the forest. "It's sort of weird to see you while we are on one of our mini missions." He didn't say anything, but he did glance at her, of which she caught.

And then... something touched her hand as she walked on his left side. Kagome looked down... it was his hand. Immediately, she was on high alert. She knew it wasn't him. However... if it wasn't him... then who was he? And exactly where was he leading her?

"A cave?" Kagome said in wonderment. "I should probably wait for the others to get here. I'm sort of vulnerable here."

Kagome looked at him, a bit nervous but remaining as calm in appearance as possible. "You have me here," he said, holding out his suppose-to-be non-existing hand. "Trust me."

Kagome looked at him, shaking her head, "I really shouldn't," she replied, "we should really wait for the others."

"You do not trust me?" He replied, his brows furrowed.

Kagome took a step back, "No, I trust Sesshomaru. I don't trust you, whoever you are." Kagome took another step back as the illusion stepped closer.

"You think I am an imposter?" He asked as he backed her right up into a wall, placing a hand on the wall behind her. He placed a claw on her cheek trailing it along her jaw, trailing a thin line of blood, "does this not feel real to you?"

Kagome's eyes widened - Sesshomaru would never hurt her, even if it was to prove a point! She knew for a fact it wasn't him - or was it? Maybe he had another arm? Maybe he was just acting different because of how much time they had together? Maybe there was some other explanation? She didn't know! What she did know was that she needed this illusion to end.

Kagome swiped her arm at him but he caught it. He leaned down and forced his lips against her. Despite her struggles, she was unable to move with him pinning her as he was. And despite how much she disliked this illusion - she couldn't help feel a sense of want. A want for a demon who was not really there.

"Please don't do this," she mumbled against his cheek as he kissed her along the bloodline he had made. He lapped at the blood - and it was in that instant that she heard the most beautiful tune.

Where is it coming from? It's so peacefully beautiful... And she knew she probably shouldn't listen to it, but without a way to really obstruct the noise, and her breathe becoming more and more shallow, she was at a loss as to how to fix the situation.

She wanted this so much. Why? She saw Sesshomaru as merely a friend... didn't she? She couldn't possibly be setting herself up like this again. Not to mention it was absolutely disgusting of her to become attracted to her best friend's brother. What was this? Middle school? She didn't do those kinds of things!

But try as she might, her body betrayed her. The light from her eyes faded, and soon enough, her mind became blank. The figure before her disappeared in a waver of illusion, and she danced. She spun in a circle, dancing her way toward the tune of such a wonderful sound.

Her mind felt cloudy. She could see her hands and all the beautiful flora around her. The pure white dress she wore was gorgeous - she wondered where she got it. She could see the tips of her hair curl around arms and and shoulders as she twirled her way toward the source of the music.

"How do you catch a person who's trail has gone cold?" Sango had said earlier. The words had come back to her at that moment.

Simple, Kagome thought, You let them catch you instead.

She allowed her mind to go completely blank. She felt absolutely serene. She felt... peaceful. Her body moved of it's own accord, allowing her to relax in their movement. Nothing felt forced. Which was a bit unexpected. She had thought that she would feel some sort of obligation to dance, be compelled to do this. But.. she felt nothing.

And so she continued to dance, deeper and deeper into the cave.
