Agh. I haven't updated since last year. Sigh sigh sigh.

This still isn't the request. Double sigh.

This one takes place directly before KH1... It was inspired by all the stuff I've seen floating around and video game logic. The raft. They have boats. Really.

Disclaimer:

Me: Riku, before you start ranting, let me say this - I don't own KH. Alright, go.

Riku: Alright, Shade, I don't fear you! There's no way that'd happen to me! Right Electro?

Me: Uh, actually... I can only control what happens to you in my sector of the Writing Dimension... once Shade pulls you into hers, I can't help you anymore... I could possibly convince her to make it easier on you, but beyond that...

Riku: You're kidding, right?

Me: Sadly, no...

Riku: Oh... *cough* A-anyways, Kyla... I really doubt Electro would do - could do anything too terrible to me.

Me: You'd be surprised...

Riku: What?

Me: Nothing.

"Hey, Riku?"

The aqua-eyed teen looked up at his brunette friend from his position leaning against the paopu tree. "Yeah, Sora?"

Sora pressed his lips together, fidgeting slightly before blurting out, "Are you sure we should be building a raft?"

Riku raised a silver eyebrow. "Of course. What, are you chickening out of the work?"

Sora pouted, shaking his head. "No. I'm just saying – we have boats. Why would we need to build a raft if we have boats?" Sora sighed, shrugging. "I mean, it doesn't really make any sense."

Riku was silent for a long time before he finally replied, turning his gaze back to the sunset, "Those boats are old – they wouldn't last us as long in the water as a fresh raft would. They probably couldn't make it past the mainland, much less reach another world."

"No, Riku," Sora said, leaning forward to try and catch his friend's gaze, "We've been using those boats since... since the beginning of time! Why wouldn't they work now?"

Riku, utterly unable to come up with anything else, stubbornly insisted, "They just wouldn't."

Fed up with Riku's unsatisfactory answers, the younger of the two hopped off the paopu tree and got up in his friend's face, glaring daggers. "Riku, I'm serious. Why?"

Riku glared right back, replying stiffly, "Look, using the boats would be too easy. Adventures aren't fun if there's no challenge!" The muscular teen pushed off the tree, taking a few steps away from it and turning his back to his friend. "Besides, my mom said I wasn't getting a new boat if I lost the one I have now while exploring." The silverette shook his head. "It was a risk I couldn't take."

"Your mom...?" Sora asked slowly, a grin starting to dance onto his face. "Your mom said you couldn't use your boat?" The boy held back a laugh, "Are you scared of your mom, Riku?"

Riku shook his head, struggling to keep his voice even. "I'm not scared – I'm disciplined." His eyebrow twitched in irritation as his friend's laugher continued. "Unlike some people, I actually do what I'm told, Sora."

"Sure." Sora's laughter didn't cease. "I think you're just scared of your mom."

"Whatever."

Because mothers are scary.

Hope you enjoyed this installment! I'm explaining the unexplained!
