Ahh, sweet sweet updating. I love updating, I hate not being able to do it more often. Ahhh~

This installment has been in production for a really really long time, so I don't remember what inspired it... probably Sora's naïveté. This one takes place between BBS and KH1.

Disclaimer:

Me: Don't own KH.

Riku: I'm not scared of hugs!

Me: Okay, Riku, sure.

Riku: I'm not!

Me: If you say so~

"Riku!" The cry sounded through the air, startling said boy.

The five-year-old had been making a sand castle on the shore of the mainland just to waste time, since there was nothing better for him to do. With a sigh, he stood and turned to his quickly approaching friend, calling, "What's up, Sora?"

"Riku," Sora said as he breathlessly came to a halt in front of his friend, "W-we might be in danger of having a baby, Riku!" The boy waved his arms in a panic, still trying to catch his breath.

Riku's eyes widened in disbelief. "Wait, babies?" Was his brain having a malfunction? Maybe he just heard him wrong. "Babies...?" He repeated, shocked. "Sora..."

Before Riku could continue, Sora had grabbed his wrist and started dragging him towards the houses, explaining hurriedly along the way. "Well, I asked my mom where babies come from, and she said that a giant bird comes delivers a baby to two people who are really close." The brunette sent his friend a panicked look over his shoulder, "And you and me are really really really close!"

Riku could only stare incredulously at Sora while his mind tried to process what he was hearing. "Sora," he started again, shaking his head to try and make sense of his mind, "I hate to put it this way, but—"

The younger of the two stopped abruptly and turned around slowly, an insulted look in his eyes and a whimper in his tone. "Riku, are you saying... that you wouldn't want to have kids with me?"

Riku shook his head again, hurriedly explaining, "I-I never said that! I mean... it's just..." the boy trailed for a moment before starting up again, "I'm not sure that we'd be... uh, ready for a baby, even if we could have one..."

Sora only pouted, crossing his arms, "Now you're saying that you think I couldn't take care of a baby, Riku!"

Once more, Riku shook his head. This would be... a bit more complicated than he had thought. "Again, I never said anything like that." The five-year-old put a hand on his friend's shoulder, choosing his words carefully. "It's just... well... I think your mom might have... er, lied about where babies come from."

Sora shook his head in disbelief, "Well, if she's lying, then why don't you tell me?"

Riku's eyes widened again. No, he couldn't tell the truth... He wouldn't be responsible for the soiling of Sora's innocence! "Um..." He had to think of something, fast. "Well... I think your mom was just... too general."

Sora's head tilted to the side, a questioning look resting in his eyes. "Too general?"

Riku nodded slowly. "Um, yeah. She said two people... but she meant... two... girls."

Good save, Riku. Good save.

Sora grinned, letting out a laugh. "Ohhh, that makes sense! No wonder only girls have babies!"

"Right... right." Riku was having an internal celebration. He had preserved Sora's innocence for a little bit longer... Though he did have to twist the truth a bit, the crisis was averted, and that's all that mattered.

Sora didn't really need to know the truth yet anyways.

I don't Riku understands the gravity of lying to Sora. I bet this is gonna bite him in the butt later on. Despite all that, crisis averted.
