Yet another update. This one is awfully short. I tried to expand it a little teeny bit, and I just kinda... wrote myself into a hole. So it's short.

Um, guys? Again, thanks so much. We're at 96 reviews, and 13,166 views, 23 follows, and 30 favorites, and that's practically overnight. I cannot believe this is so popular. It's just amazing. So thanks again, guys. I'm gonna stop gushing now. (You guys are all just so amazing, I can barely help it. I love you all.)

I came up with this one when I was rewatching video game trailers, and the Tokyo Game Show trailer from last year came up, and I just. That chess game. I'm terrible at chess. That's where this came from. You all know where this takes place; they're smol. It's before BBS, far before, wonderful.

Disclaimer: I don't own KH.

Xehanort pondered for a minute before picking up his piece and moving it across the chess board. He needed to come up with some kind of plan; he was losing. He couldn't lose again. He looked to the other side of the board, where his opponent was sitting. "Have you heard of the ancient Keyblade War?" Maybe he could distract him.

Eraqus nodded, chiming, "Yeah, the Master's favorite story." He stared for a minute before moving his own piece. He picked up one of Xehanort's and placed it to the side.

"So," Xehanort continued, frowning and moving a piece, "You know the Lost Masters. On that land shall darkness prevail and light expire."He smirked at his opponent. "The future, it's already been written."

Eraqus grinned at him. "But, unlike darkness, there's more to light than meets the eye." He inclined his head, moving his piece. "You might be surprised."

Xehanort let out a small huff of a chuckle. "Oh, I hope so." He moved his piece, taking one of Eraqus' own.

Their game continued for minutes on end, each player getting some number of the other's pieces before Eraqus let out an accomplished hum. "Check and mate." He smiled at his opponent, holding the king piece in his hand. "Good game."

Xehanort frowned. "That's the fifth time you've beaten me." He rubbed a hand over his face, letting out a frustrated groan. "Today."

Eraqus only grinned, starting to reset the board. "Would you like another match?"

"No." Xehanort stood, accidentally knocking over some pieces as he did. "I'm done losing to you, repeatedly."

Eraqus pouted at the knocked over pieces before shrugging. "Alright, suit yourself." He shook his head, arranging the pieces. Of course Xehanort knew he wouldn't get any better without practice, right?

He didn't have to be a sore loser.

I know the feeling, Xehanort. I've also been beaten many times. I like to think Xehanort is good at chess, but Eraqus is just... better at it. Hm.

I hope I got the quotes right, I watched the video and directly quoted from that, so... anyways.

I hope you enjoyed, and review!
