Twilight and Luna returned to the castle. They were both shinning bright from the afterglow of their trip.
Vesper was the first to greet them. He glomped them both as they entered the door.
"I missed you mothers, did you enjoy your trip?" He asked
Luna smiled as she ruffled his mane, "Yes we did little one. Did you behave while we were away?"
Vesper nodded, "We had lots of fun. Auntie Celestia let me sit into another meeting."
Twilight smiled, "Did she now?"
Vesper nodded again, "Yes and one of the delegates brought me a lollipop, another brought me some crayons and paper."
Luna brightened up as she picked Vesper up and set him on her back. Twilight and Luna walked down the hall looking for Celestia.
Vesper pointed to the kitchen as if he knew who his mother was looking for.
Luna and Twilight walked in and saw Celestia eating a piece of red velvet cake. Discord was sitting next to her, he was gently rubbing her stomach.
Twilight gasped, "We have only been gone a day, and you have a pudge already."
Ves looked confused, "Is that bad mommy?"
Luna shook her head, "No it isn't, it is just a little out of the ordinary."
Discord responded, "I can't help it if my child doesn't want to follow the rules."
Celestia chuckled, "It's alright sister, I figured something like this might happen."
Luna walked over to Celestia and hugged her, "When are you due sister?"
"In three months."
"That is impossible." Twilight gasped.
"Remember Twilight, she is giving birth to a little tangle of chaos." Luna giggled.
Discord growled, "Hey that is my little mess of chaos in there. That is my little troublemaking DJ."
"DJ?" Vesper asked.
"Why yes, it stands for Discord Jr." Discord said as he picked up Vesper and tickled him.
Celestia pouted, "How are you so certain it will be a boy?"
Discord gently grabbed her chin, "My love, I just know. I can feel our little bundle being a boy."
Celestia raised her eyebrow as she shook her head and turned to look at Luna and Twilight, "How was the trip?"
Luna smirked as Twilight. Twilight looked down with a blush.
"Just what we needed."
Celestia nodded as she wiped her mouth, "That is good. I am glad you two enjoyed yourself. However, I am going to need to see Luna privately in my study. I have something I need to go over with you."
Luna nodded. Celestia stood up and trotted out of the room. Discord gently set Vesper down on the ground next to Luna as he turned and followed Celestia.
Twilight walked over to Luna, "What do you think she wants to talk about my love?"
Luna shook her head, "I don't know, but she had that tone in her voice. That regal tone, it must me something important."
"Can I come mother, can I?" Vesper asked smiling at Luna.
Luna nudged him, pushing him a little closer to Twilight, "I'm sorry son, but I feel this matter is too great for you. Why don't you go play with mommy for a little while."
Vesper's ears drooped, "Oh...okay." He whispered as he shuffled over to Twilight.
Luna turned and walked out of the room.
Twilight looked down at her son, he looked down at the ground. Her ears perked up with an idea. "Ves why don't we go take a walk in the garden?"
Ves didn't budge.
Twilight brightened with another idea, "We could go for a flight."
Vesper's wings snapped open in excitement as he smiled up at Twilight, "Let's Go! Let's Go!"
Vesper ran out of the room and Twilight wasn't far behind him.

They were flying around Canterlot. Vesper was ahead of Twilight.
"Ves stay with me." She ordered.
Vesper slowed down a little and waited for Twilight to catch up.
Vesper giggled as he threw a cloud at Twilight. Twilight dodged it and used her magic to hurl one at him. He kicked it back and hit her.
Vesper covered his mouth as he noticed the cloud got stuck on her horn. Twilight shook her head and growled playfully as she chased him around the sky.
Vesper dove into a cloud to hide. Twilight popped her head into the cloud and grabbed him, tickling him.
Vesper laughed. Once the two calmed down he looked at his mother seriously.
"Mom, I feel well average. I don't know if I will make a good prince." Ves said looking down a little.
Twilight nuzzled him, "I know that fear Vesper. I had that same fear when Celestia gave me my wings. I still think that way, but it isn't often. You have to believe in yourself."
"But mom, those are some pretty big shoes to fill. I just...what if I mess up. I don't magic." He said.
Twilight chuckled, "You don't have to have magic to make a change Ves. You have to have heart." She gently tapped his chest. "And I know you have a big heart."
"You really think so? I mean I am adopted after all." He pointed out.
Twilight shook her head, "It doesn't matter where you come from Ves, what matters is where you are going. I know for certain you are a great prince."
Vesper smiled and hugged his mother's muzzle.
"Mother can you show me your magic?" Ves asked
Twilight nodded as they landed they flew, Twilight shaped clouds in the forms of ponies. Vesper followed her as she flew low and grabbed water with her hooves. She threw the water particles into the air and shined the light from her horn on them to form a rainbow.
"Whoa." He smiled.
Twilight and Ves landed and she looked at him and smiled as her horn glowed. She slammed her hooves onto the ground and knocked down a good amount of leaves off of the trees.
Ves followed Twilight as they walked into town. She used basic levitation spells to help some ponies with heavy loads. She helped some ponies talk out their problems and rebuild their friendships.
Ves looked over and saw a small filly and her friend arguing. He walked over and helped them. He made them talk it out instead of yelling and soon they were hugging.
Ves flew over to his mom and hugged him.
"I told you." She said.
Ves looked down and saw ponies running. He tapped Twilight's shoulder and pointed. "What is that mom?"
"That is the running of the leaves. That is when ponies help knock down all of the leaves to prepare for winter." She responded.
"Can we help?" He asked.
"Of course"
Twilight and Ves turned around to see Luna. Ves flew over to her and hugged her. "Hey mother. Bet I am faster than you."
Luna looked down at her son and raised her eyebrow, "Oh you think so?"
Ves nodded looking determined.
"Well then…" Luna smiled at Twilight, "Let us go."
They landed on the ground. The new run was seconds from starting.
"So you think you are faster?" Luna asked.
Ves nodded, "Yes"
"And what makes you think that?" She asked.
"Because I am younger, and I have more energy." He said.
"Well maybe I am faster mister." Luna chuckled as she booped his nose.
"Only on way to find out." Twilight said as the whistle was blown.
The ponies all took off running, everyone kept a moderate pace except for Luna and Ves. They were ahead of the pack.
Luna has a bit of an edge as she sped up. Ves looked ahead and growled as he pushed his little legs to go faster. He was taking deep breaths as he started to gain on her.
Luna gasped as she saw Vesper slowly pass her. He didn't slow either, he continued to push himself harder and harder as he started to sweat. He keep both wings closed tightly at his sides. He smiled as the running became easier. He looked back and realized that he could barely see his parents or the pack. He shouted happily as he continued to run.
He gave it everything he had as he shook his head enjoying the feeling of the wind in his mane.
Rainbow and Tundra were flying overhead. The looked down and their eyes widened at what they say. Vesper looked up and smiled as he continued to run. He jumped over a log with ease and duck under a branch.
Tundra caught up to him overhead and cheered him on. "Go Vesper!"
Vesper laughed and cheered as he pushed himself harder. A light aura started to surround his body as he advanced further. With every step he felt lighter and lighter. He saw the finish line. He ran right through it and continued on. The ponies where confused on why he didn't stop.
Vesper kept running. Rainbow caught up and grabbed a fluffy cloud. She held it in front of him to stop him. Vesper ran right through it.
"Whoa, that colt has no brakes." Rainbow said.
Vesper eventually did wear himself out. He slowed down and eventually stopped. He panted as he turned and saw his mother's flying towards him.
"I guess I won." He panted as they landed.
"Vesper why didn't you stop?" Luna asked.
"I didn't want to. Running felt good." He panted.
"Sweetie, you could have gotten hurt, or you could have hurt somepony else." Twilight said.
"Sorry mother." Vesper said finally catching his breath.
They both smiled as they walked up to him and hugged him.
"Let's go home, somepony needs a bath." Luna said.
Ves nodded as he looked down at his dirty coat.

Later on that night Twilight read Vesper a story as he was drifting off to sleep. He pulled his covers close as he yawned and fell asleep.
Luna smiled as she watched from the threshold.
Once Twilight was sure he was asleep she put a bookmark into the book and placed it on the bookshelf. She slowly tiptoed out of his room. Luna gently pulled the door closed, leaving just a small crack open.
Twilight and Luna collapsed onto their bed.
"So I need to go on a trip with Celestia. We have to travel to Saddle Arabia for a while. We have to help them patch up a misunderstanding with their neighbors." Luna said.
Twilight looked at Luna with a sad look, "When will you be back my love?"
Luna gently kissed Twilight's forehead, "I am not sure. But I will make sure to write to you everyday."
Twilight nodded.
"We are going to have you and Discord in charge of things here." Luna said.
Twilight shook her head as she sat up, "What if I make a mess of everything?"
Luna sat up and gently rested her hoof on Twilight's cheek, "You aren't my love. I know you will do a fantastic job."
Twilight sighed, "Well I will try. I promise you that Luna."
Luna nuzzled into Twilight, "That's my girl."
They both laid down. Luna pulled Twilight close, and Twilight buried her head into Luna's chest. They both closed their eyes and started to drift off to sleep.
Their door slowly cracked open as Vesper walked in.
He climbed onto their bed and looked at his mothers.
Twilight and Luna both opened their eyes and scooted away from each other, giving him a spot between them. Vesper climbed into that spot he smiled at his mothers before yawning and laying his head on the pillow. They both smiled as they hugged their little colt. The family drifted off into a peaceful night.
