Girl falls into One Piece
Chapter 8
Meeting Coby and Roronoa Zoro
Edit: 7/2/2016 Time: 3:03 am
We were sitting on the boat and Luffy was whining and pouting at me. "Mace! Why'd you hit me!?"
And he had a big bump on his head from where I hit him. I replied to his question. "We have no space and you kept on stepping on me by moving around."
He nodded and lay on his back. I closed my eyes and said, leaning against the side of the boat. "Luffy, tell me when we get somewhere."
He said. "Okay."
I took a little nap and was woken up by Luffy yelling at me. "Holy crap, Mace! A Whirlpool!"
I shot up and turned so I was on my hands and knees. My eyes widened as I saw a whirlpool right in front of us. I said. "Luffy! How could you go into a whirlpool like that!"
He shrugged and yelled back. "I don't know, it just showed up!"
I sighed and Luffy grabbed a barrel and it had a couple of apples which he emptied on the boat and I emptied the one with water getting what he was saying. He tossed me my Log Book and I smiled in thanks. He put his in the water and said. "See ya, Mace!"
He jumped in and closed the lid. I threw mine in the water, grabbed a bunch of apples and threw them inside as I jumped in with my Log Book and plopped the lid over me. It was dark and dry in here. I winced as my sword poked me and I took it off my belt and laid it beside me the best I could. It was on top of me. I yawned, I might as well go back to sleep. It was hard, but I was out like a light.
I woke up to getting bumped around and I held my sword tightly where it was so I did not get stabbed while moving and my book under me. What a wonderful way to die, I could see it now in the Papers.
17 Year old girl dies in the start of piracy by stabbing herself with her own sword.
I snorted at my thoughts. I think I actually turned a little crazy at the years I lived here. I wonder how Luffy is doing. I then felt myself get thumped on something a couple of times and it went still. I then heard a gruff voice. "Oi Coby! What you got there?"
I heard a scared preteen voice stutter. "T-two barrels of s-something!"
Even Luffy didn't sound that bad at 7, though he did cry a lot. Another gruff voice said. "Well since its Sake, we can drink it!"
I was just compared to alcohol, great. The scared voice named Coby said. "B-but what if Captain A-alvida finds out?"
This kid was annoying me and it was getting cramped up in here. One of the men said. "Well she won't find out, I'm going to break this open and drink the Sake."
I snorted, so to get liquid from a barrel, he is going to smash it open. Real smart guy, right there. I heard him step near another thing and I guessed it was Luffy barrel. All of a sudden I heard a smash and Luffy's voice yell. "WHAT A GOOD NAP!"
I smirked before making a fist and punched the top twice and it splintered open. I stood up and put one leg over the barrel and then the other leg, hopping out. I grabbed the Log Book with one hand and Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi (my sword). I'll just call it Kusanagi or my sword.
I clipped into my belt on my left hip since I was right handed and 2 guys that looked like bandits and that scared kid with pink hair and sailors clothes. I raised an eyebrow, I feel bad for him, a boy with pink hair. Oh yeah and he was wearing glasses too.
Another guy was on the floor and Luffy was standing there with his usual grin. The two men and the kid were staring at us in disbelief. I smiled at Luffy and asked. "Is it so weird to jump out a barrel?"
We used to do it all of the time for fun or so to shock Ace. I stopped finding it strange years ago. Luffy shook his head no.
The 2 men yelled out. "Yes it is!"
Luffy looked at the ground and asked. "Why is your friend sleeping on the floor? He's gonna catch a cold like that."
One of them screamed at him. "You're the one that punched him!"
I laughed out loud, that must have been the smart guy that tried to punch solid objects to get liquid. I said with a smirk. "He deserved it in a way; his dumbass was trying to open something he thought to be liquid by punching it."
They glared and said. "Listen here, Bitch-"
I stopped them. "What was that?"
They looked ready to charge me and I had my right hand on the hilt of my sword. Luffy said with an annoyed look. "I got this, Mace."
I smirked, only someone close to him could see he was annoyed. We are brothers; we have to protect each other. While Luffy dealt with those guys, I looked at the pink haired kid, I asked. "Who are you?"
He stuttered. "I-I'm C-coby."
I said. "Hi, I'm Perry A. Mason, but people call me Mace."
He nodded timidly and I sighed. I defiantly had not dealt with timid people anywhere in a while. Luffy came over and said. "Where's the food?"
He was sniffing around like a dog and I chuckled as he said. "I found it."
He was walked toward a room and Coby was trying to pull him back, but all Luffy did was pull him along. I casually put my hands in my pockets and said. "Don't even try; nothing could stand between him and food."
I followed them in this room as Coby let go and Luffy dove into a barrel of apples. Coby said. "If we stay in here and no one gets hungry, we'll be safe."
He seems to think we can't defend ourselves. I hope he gets to see me or Luffy fight, so he can see that these guys are nothing. Luffy called out. "Here Mace!"
He tossed me a couple and I caught them, taking a bite from one. Luffy said. "Your name was Coby, right?"
The Pink haired kid nodded. "Yeah, y-your L-luffy?"
He nodded with a grin and said. "Shishishi! Yeah! So is this a pirate ship?"
Coby shook his head. "No! It a passenger ship invaded by pirates!"
Then what the hell is the kid still doing out here? Luffy asked. "Are there any rowboats on this ship?"
I spoke up. "Yeah, a whirlpool took ours." Why does stuff always happen to me when Luffy around? I've had worse, but still.
Coby started freaking out and exclaimed. "That huge whirlpool?! You both should be dead!"
I chuckled, the words that begin to describe my life. Luffy laughed. "It sure surprised us! Mace got mad at me!"
I asked. "Why are you here anyway, are you a pirate?"
I know Luffy don't look like one, but this kid is passing the borderline of piracy. Then again, anyone could be a pirate if they really wanted to. Coby said. "It was on a fateful day. I was going fishing and found a rowboat. It turns out that it was a pirate ship and for the last 2 years I was working as a slave so they wouldn't kill me."
I gaped, is this kid serious? He had been on this boat for 2 years and did not even try? Luffy seemed to be thinking like me too. "You're a coward! I hate people like you!"
Coby then began to look depressed and I said. "I have to agree with him, you're a coward."
That made him even more depressed. I shrugged. I have been very blunt just living mostly with Luffy for 3 years. He said. "How can you both say that?"
Luffy said. "You should have run away!"
Coby gasped in shock. "I could never do that! What would happen to me if Alvida-Sama found me and it would be-"
I interrupted. "Man, just shut up! Stop whining about it!"
He started at me in shock and I'm sorry, but I had to do it. I never had someone blubber like that and this guy was a teenager maybe a little younger. Ace would have strangled this kid. The pink-haired boy asked. "Why are you both sailing the sea?"
I said. "I'm a pirate and I'm gonna write my adventures in this here book."
He stared at me in shock and before he could say anything, Luffy said. "Yeah and I'm gonna be Pirate King!"
Coby asked. "Pirates?! You both are pirates?! Pirate King is the treasure that the world has to offer, fame, fortune and wealth! One Piece, the greatest treasure in the world!"
Did he really have to describe something that we already knew? He then started saying how impossible it was and I leaned against the wall, a bit more annoyed. He will get high blood pressure or something if he doesn't stop.
Luffy then punched him in the head and he winced holding his head. "Why'd you do that?"
Luffy shrugged. "I felt like it."
Coby rubbed his head. "It's okay, it used to it."
I wonder how long Luffy is planning on staying. Luffy's straw hat covered his face as he said with a grin. "It's not about being possible or impossible. I'm doing it because I want to. I decided to become Pirate King and if I die, that's that."
I smiled at him fondly, knowing the truth in his words. Before I used to be afraid of dying, but I'd die for my dreams and people I care about. I spoke up. "And what's a dream worth if you don't risk you life for it?"
He looked between me and Luffy, thoughtful. He mumbled. "Can it do it, if I'm ready to die?"
Do what, leave this place or is something else? Coby said out loud. "Can I maybe join the Marines?"
I blinked as he asked this. And why would an aspiring Marine ask pirates this? Luffy just shrugged and asked. "How would we know?"
The only thing I really know about Marines is Grandpa Garp and still to this day, he scares me. Coby then had a rare determined look on his face and said. "I'll do it then! I'll become a Marine and Alvida will be the first I turn in!"
I smirked at his words, good for him. Suddenly there was this big crash and the ceiling splintered and I had my right hand on the hilt of my sword right away and my eyes were narrowed at what caused it and saw who came down. It was a women and that was using the term lightly.
She was overweight and had on a striped button down pink shirt, captain's coat and some normal pants with greasy curly hair and black beady eyes. She said. "You're not the Pirate Hunter Zoro and I don't even know who you are."
I frowned as I relaxed a bit, another weakling wanna be pirate that is lame. She suddenly looked at Coby and shrieked. "Coby! Who is the most beautiful lady in the sea!?"
I twitched; it most defiantly is not her, that's for sure! Luffy asked. "Who's the old hag?"
I choked on a laugh and my shoulders were shaking. The hag tried to hit Luffy with a large club and Luffy grabbed Coby and then jumped through the opening, me not that far behind. I landed on the deck easily. A bunch of pirates were trying to fight us and I pulled out my sword. Swinging it; I sliced at a couple of people.
They were not fatal as I got then in the arm, non-deeply in the chest and the legs and then I would knock them out with my hilt. I haven't killed anyone, never really needed too, but I will if I have to, but I don't see a reason for having to.
I looked at Luffy when I was done to see him just flying into a bunch of pirates, knocking them down. Coby was off to the side gaping at him and then looking at my bloody sword in fear. They started screaming about Luffy and I think I was called a Demon or something like that. Luffy pulled at his cheeks until they stretched impossibly wide and said. "I'm a Rubber man!"
I chuckled, that never gets old. I said. "Yeah and I just know how to use a sword…well." I grinned at them at the end.
The ones I fought that woke up paled and Alvida said. "So you ate a Devil fruit?"
I rolled my eyes, obviously. Luffy said. "Yep, I ate the Gum-Gum Fruit."
Alvida said in her nasally voice. "I heard rumors, but I did not know they were true. Are you a bounty Hunter?"
I snorted, Luffy a bounty hunter? Luffy shook his head. "No, I'm a Pirate."
She asked. "By yourself?"
Luffy shook his head. "Mace over there is with me. I'm looking for at least 10 Nakama."
He was pointing at me and I gave a small wave. He said. "You're still two lone pirates. If we are not on the same crew, then we're enemies."
That sounds about right. Coby said quietly. "Luffy-san, be careful, she is…"
Coby started stuttering and freaking out and then he looked at Luffy and me. He took a deep breath and said. "You are… the dirtiest hag in the whole sea!"
It was silent and then I and Luffy burst out laughing at the same time. The old hag was getting furious and I figured she was not used to that. She yelled. "What did you say?!"
He froze, but continued on. "I'm going to go in the Marines and catch people like you!"
Her face was getting redder and redder and she went to swing her club at him. I stepped on my right foot to hurt her, but Luffy let it hit him on the head and I cringed even if I knew it would not hurt him at all. Being made of Rubber and all did that for you. They all stared at him in shock and it made me grin. Luffy said. "That won't work."
He let his fist back and hit her in the stomach saying. "Gum-Gum…Pistol!"
I chuckled again shaking my head, he named it that because he used to always go around saying his punch was as strong as a pistol. Luffy then asked for a boat as the Marines showed up and Luffy said. "Here's the Marines, you can go."
I sighed. "Luffy, he can't do that. Being here with them and us, they will think he is a pirate."
Luffy had an understanding look and Coby looked grateful at me and Luffy said. "Then let's go!"
We grabbed a boat and jumped inside while Coby steered it away. I felt a little ashamed, a kid knows how to steer a boat and I don't. I put my sword away and put the book down that I held onto the whole time. I will need to find a place to put this, our opponents will get stronger. Luffy laughed as he sat on the small mast of the boat and I called from where I was laying. "Luffy! I won't catch you when you fall in!"
He laughed and turned around with a grin. "Yeah you will."
I sighed and closed my eyes; we both know that I would. I just don't want to have to dive in. It was quiet and we were just floating around and then Coby asked Luffy. "Uh, Luffy-san? You're looking for the One Piece right? And that means you're heading in to the Grand Line too?"
I nodded as Luffy said. "Yeah."
Coby said "That place is called the Graveyard of Pirates."
Hm, really? Well the Pirate Era just started in this world like 20 years ago or something like that. Of course there would be these people that called themselves pirates and gotten killed. Luffy just said that he's need to get a new crew for us that was really strong. Coby asked. "Is Mace-san your friend?"
Luffy said. "Yeah and my brother!"
Coby said in a confused voice. "She's a girl."
I snorted, here we go again. Luffy stated in a matter of fact tone. "So, she's still my brother."
Coby seemed to give up at this point, not wanting to question us anymore. Smart boy. Luffy suddenly asked. "The Pirate Hunter guy, what's he like?"
I opened my eyes curious, that old hag did mention him. Coby said. "You mean Zoro? I heard he was tied up in a Marine Base."
Wow, really never mind then. Luffy seemed to be thinking the same. "He's weak then."
Coby freaked out at that answer. "No way! He's a demon and scary beast."
I chuckled and muttered. "And they just called me a demon an hour ago."
Coby asked. "Why did you want to know?"
Luffy said. "I was going to see if he wanted to join my crew."
Coby screamed at him. "You're going to do something reckless again!"
Luffy was confused and Coby was still yelling. I said stopping him. "Calm down, just steer us to where he is."
He looked at me shock, but did what I said. I opened my empty Log Book and my eyes widened at what I saw. Glued to the front cover was a picture of 4 kids. It was all of us before the fire. Sabo was on the left with Ace on his right and Luffy on his left and I was actually civil with Ace at the time so I was next to him. We were all grinning there. It was the day I caught my first kill for food.
I smiled sadly, we were about 7 in there and I closed it with a sigh, I set it down.
They stopped at a dock and I sighed again and got up and walked off the boat onto the dock. Luffy jumped up and almost fell in, but I grabbed his arm and pulled him next to me. He grinned and I helped steady Coby so he did not fall in either. We walked for a bit in the town which looked like a normal market place in my time and Luffy said to me. "I'm hungry!"
I nodded and kept walking with a smirk, not doing anything about what he asked me. He whined. "Mace, come on!"
I grinned at him. "What is it, Luffy?"
He pouted and gave me his look. I twitched and took 3 apples from a stand and tossed 3 coins in return. Usually I might have taken it, but I was too lazy to start trouble. I tossed one to Luffy and another one to Coby. I bit into my own as Luffy ate his. Coby looked at me shocked. "Thank you, Mace-san!"
He ate it and when Luffy was done he asked. "I wonder where Zoro is."
All of a sudden the people in the market place jumped back in fear and I snorted loudly, aren't they dramatic? Coby said. "Maybe you shouldn't say his name here. I can't believe we are here! I heard Captain Morgan is stationed here."
The people that were acting back to normal, jumped again and I raised an eyebrow, what is up with these people? Coby asked. "I wonder why they are acting like that. I understand Zoro, but why Captain Morgan?"
Luffy shrugged and said with a laugh. "Maybe they are doing it for the fun of it."
I laughed with him, I'm sure that's it. I frowned as I thought of it, not all Marines are good in this world. As I heard stories of somethings they done from people in bars, they aren't all great. I said after throwing my apple core on the ground. "Maybe he's bad, not all Marines are good."
He looked at me wide eyed and said. "No way, Mace-san! Marines uphold things and keep people safe."
I shook my head. "You're very naïve, kid. Not everyone is good and not everyone is bad."
I walked a little faster and it was quiet again until we got to the Marine Base at the other side of the island. I heard choked sounds and looked to see Coby crying again, he said. "Luffy-san, Mace-san! Thank you and this is when I'll-"
He stopped himself as he yelled. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?"
I looked over and could not see Luffy so I looked up the wall to see him try to climb it. He was halfway up and I walked over and squatted until I had power in my legs and then I jumped up. The tips of my fingers touched the top of the wall and I grabbed it. I hoisted myself up and saw Luffy pull Coby next to him. I looked around, my feet were planted on the brick wall and my arms were on the ledge.
I looked around and wiped my face, it was hot today. The sun was beating down. I saw a man with a dirty white shirt, dark pants, a dark bandana on his head and a green stripped thing around his waist and his head was down as slept or was really quiet.
That must be the Zoro guy. Coby was freaking out about how 'scary' he was. I just looked at him and then heard a clank. I looked over to my right to see a latter and a little girl at the top with something in her hands.
She jumped down and I was a little surprised, for a little kid, Zoro must look scary. Well, I learned people are not normal here in this time and I should just go with it. Coby said. "Luffy-san, you need to stop her!"
Luffy gave a casual reply. "Do it yourself."
Coby frowned and turned to me. "Please Mace-san! Help her!"
I said. "She's safe, Zoro can't even move."
We looked ahead to see the little girl walk up to him and said. "Zoro-Nii?"
I blinked; big brother? He looked up and she said. "I brought you some rice balls."
He said roughly. "Go away!"
She stopped and then said again. "B-but this is my first time making them!"
He said. "Go away, I'm not hungry!"
Well, isn't someone rude? Before anything else could be said, an annoying voice said. "Roronoa Zoro is picking on little kids, I should tell my daddy!"
I could tell that he was going to be annoying. I heard Zoro say. "Oh look, it's the bastard's son."
I grinned. I looked over from where the voice was speaking and my grin disappeared into a frown. He was weird and stupid looking with an over cocky look on his face. He had stupid ass hair that reminded me of an onion, a weird purple suit that scream stupid and a weird big chin that stuck out, he said. "A bastard's son you say?! My Daddy is a Marine Captain!"
Oh, I see. He's just a spoiled rich kid. I hated them in my world, but coming here I came to loathe them as I went into High Town a couple of times to look around. He then saw the little girl and decided to take one of the rice balls and then spit it out on the floor, insulting her because it had sugar instead of salt.
The little girl cried and then he decided he was all big and bad and decided to ruin both of them and show her a picture of his dad, saying that anyone to disobey the Captain would be executed. I clenched my fist so I would not knock his out on his ass.
He decided to be a bigger asshole and then told one of the two soldiers to throw her over the wall. I glared and grit my teeth. The soldier did what he said after hesitating and I shared a look with Luffy, he caught her and fell to the ground. I jumped down and Coby did too. But instead of walking over calmly like I did, he decided he needed to race over.
Luffy got up and put the girl down. While Coby talked to her nicely, Luffy headed toward the gate and I knew he wanted to see Zoro up close. I let him, he can defend himself and the guy was tied up and no doubt hungry. Coby finally noticed Luffy gone and he stared at me wide eyed. "Mace-san! Aren't you going to help Luffy-san!"
I shook my head with a smile. "No, he's strong. Remember what he did to Alvida."
He winced a little at the reminder and I looked at the little girl. I tilted my head to the side as I stared at her and asked. "You okay?"
She nodded and said. "Yes, thanks to that guy!"
I grinned. "That's my brother Luffy and I'm Mace."
She nodded with an innocent smile that made me soften without meaning to. Soon Luffy jumped over and said. "Hey, I'm back! I met the guy and he ate rice ball off the floor!"
I blinked, really? How hungry was this guy? The little girl looked at Luffy, all shinny eyed and asked. "Really?! He ate it all!?"
Luffy nodded with a grin. "Yes, he ate every single bite."
Coby had a confused look and he asked. "Is Zoro as bad as everyone says he is?"
The little girl got mad and yelled. "No, he's not! He only helped me because I went to attack that mean Helmeppo's dog and he saved me! He's making him stay for at least 30 days and they are hitting and punching him. They don't even feed him."
I grimaced at that, knowing how bad it is to starve for a bit. I have for about 4 days when I first got here and let me tell you it is horrible.
I can see why she calls him brother, he saved her life. We decided to walk her home. I asked, trying to make her a little happier. "What's your name?"
She smiled widely at me and said. "Rika."
I smiled back. "That's a pretty name."
She blushed cutely. She was walking a little slower and for some reason she reminded me of Luffy, not the quietness, but when he used to be down. I lifted her up and plopped her on my shoulders. She let out a gasp and I heard Luffy laugh. I asked jokingly. "No problem with this ride, right?"
I jumped up a little and made sure I had a grip on her legs. She giggled and that was my answer. I heard that guy's loud voice a little while later, that Marine brat. I let her down and pushed her a little behind me. Luffy had a frown and Coby looked scared. I heard. "I want Moonshine and for free!:
This is why someone should never have a lot of power. See what these people do! We walked into the bar and saw Helmeppo shooting his mouth off. He then said. "Roronoa Zoro is so stupid! I'll just execute him in 3 days."
In anger, my hand went to my hilt, but Luffy got so mad and just punched him in the face and he hit the wall. I kept my hand there and knew if Luffy didn't hit him, I would have punched him. My hand just goes there automatically. He is not worth it nor strong enough for my sword. He started stuttering and I rolled my eyes as he decided to execute Luffy. He ran off with the Marine body guards and Luffy looked determined and he called out loudly. "Zoro is gonna join my crew."
I smirked and said. "About time, little brother."
He nodded at me and I then looked at Coby, he looked frightened and upset. Frightened because of the fear of execution and upset because he is finally seeing not all Marines are good as he thought. Luffy started walking out. I followed him and Coby was walking a bit beside me, I said. "I hope you don't act like that when you become a Marine, I have to come back and personally kick your ass."
He nodded looking scared, but angry/disappointed at my words and the actions of the Marines. Luffy ran ahead and I grabbed Coby's wrist and we ran toward the base to help Zoro. At least we will have a new crew member. I know this because when Luffy usually wants something he usually gets it, trust me, I lived with him for 10 years.
Luffy disappeared from my sight because Coby fell to the ground, breathing heavy. I felt a little guilty looking at him; he's probably not used to doing this much running. I figured Luffy can handle a little bit before he does something stupid. I waited for him to catch his breath. He calmed down and I gave him a smile. "You ready, Coby?"
He winced and flashed me a guilty look. "S-sorry, Mace-san!"
I shrugged. "No problem."
We ran again and made it to the wall and I said. "Okay, I'm going to boast you over the wall."
He nodded, looking a little nervous. Smirking, I threw him over the wall, with my strength it was easy. I knew all that training for my upper body would come in handy. I hopped over the wall and saw Coby and Zoro talking while he tried to untie his ropes. Walking calmly with my hands in my pockets, my eyes widened when I heard a noise and Coby fall on his back. I look up to see a Marine firing squad.
I looked at his shoulder only to see it grazed. Sighing in relief as he said he was going to die over and over. If he can yell that he's fine. I looked at that Zoro guy as my right hand was on the hilt of my sword. I said. "You must be Zoro right? You know where my brother Luffy is?"
His eyes widened a bit and he asked a bit shocked. "He's you brother!? He went into the base to get my swords."
My eyes felt like they brightened. "You use swords, cool! We have to fight sometime."
He smirked as something flashed into his own eyes. He frowned. "Who are you anyway?"
I grinned. "Perry A. Mace."
I like saying my name to people, it makes me known. He nodded and grunted out. "Roronoa Zoro".
I snorted with an eye roll. "Duh, you're the talk of this place."
He scowled and before he could say anything, a voice yelled out. "Stop now and be executed for munity!"
I turned around and jumped in shock. "When did you get here!?"
There were Marines behind him with rifles and I scratched my head and mumbled. "Can't say I saw this coming and I don't work for you."
He glared at me and said. "Aim and fire men!"
They aimed at us and I swore. Where was Luffy where you needed him?! I can't stop all of these. I stood in front of them and pulled my sword out. I said. "Coby stay down. Zoro keep as flat as you can."
I held my sword diagonal in front of me with my narrowed eyes determined. They fired and I tensed getting ready to deflect what I could, something red jumped in front of me. I smirked once I realized who was in front of with his arms wide. Luffy. I heard the bullets stretch against his skin like I knew it would and go back to the Marines. It hit a couple and I moved my sword down a little.
Zoro and Coby yelled for Luffy and I chuckled and just said. "It took you long enough."
He grinned at me. "Sorry."
He didn't sound sorry at all.
Zoro yelled. "What are you!?"
Luffy grinned so wide till we could see all of his teeth and said. "The Man who will become the King of the Pirates, Monkey D. Luffy!"
I grinned wide too. The Marines started freaking out about Luffy's power and the guy I guessed was Captain Morgan suddenly yelled. "If guns don't work, then use swords!"
The ones that had sword, took them out and I smirked. "I got this."
Zoro yelled. "Cut me out!"
Luffy tried to let him out and I went toward the Marines. I was slashing at them and someone was behind me, before I could turn around and deal with hit, Zoro somehow got free and did it. We were back to back.
They were shaking in fear and said. "We can't beat them!"
Another one said. "Yeah, their demons!"
I snorted. "This is the second time today I've been called that!"
Zoro said, though for some reason it sounded as it was muffled. "Maybe you are."
I said. "Well, that was just mean."
Captain Morgan got mad and said. "If you don't want to fight, I won't have useless men! Shoot yourselves right now!"
I glared, that bastard has no right to order them that and I know if that pissed me off, it must have enraged Luffy and I was right. When the men pressed the barrels to their guns to their heads, Luffy ran over and yelled. "You opponent is me!"
Luffy hits him in the face and then kicked him. I and Zoro were done with these guys and we had no one to fight and we had to watch this sad thing called a fight. Really I could see he was just playing with this guy.
He swung his axe at Luffy and I might have forgotten to mention, this guy had an axe for a HAND. That's just nasty and gross. Luffy ducked and kicked him in the face. Luffy then started punching him in the face and I heard. "Don't move, I have a hostage!"
I looked over to see Helpmeppo holding Coby at gunpoint. I narrowed my eyes, the kid had grown on me. I took a step forward. He was shaking all over and I was worried he would pull the trigger on accident.
Luffy seemed to ignore him until he yelled the second time. I walked around him as he paid attention to Luffy. Coby was shivering and then he yelled as I moved behind them. "I DON'T CARE IF I HAVE TO DIE!"
I smirked; it seemed what Luffy said gotten into his head. Luffy grinned at him and said to Helmeppo. "Shishishi! See, Bastard's son, Coby don't care if he has to risk his life!"
I smirked and gave Luffy a look. He grinned even wider as he looked at me, a look in his own eye. I pulled my sword out and growled. "Behind you."
He whipped around and stopped pointing the gun at Coby to point it at me. I smirked and made a fist and he pressed the trigger, but I saw his finger go to do the action and I ducked just in time and I jumped back up and nailed him in the face with my fist. He crashed to the ground after he flew back. I looked up at Luffy again and my eyes widened. "Luffy, watch out!"
He blinked and turned around. Captain Morgan was behind him and was about to slice at him, but Zoro somehow sneaked up on him and sliced him down and he collapsed. I sighed in relief. I know I can trust him a bit, he saved my brother. Luffy grinned and said. "Thanks Zoro!"
Zoro smirked and I put my sword back in the sheath, he said. "No problem Captain."
I knew Luffy enjoyed that. Zoro said. "Listen, I don't care if I'm a criminal or not. I have an ambition and that is to be the Greatest Swordsman in the World and if anyone gets in my way, you will die by my sword."
I'll ignore that part, knowing Luffy would never stop anyone dreams no matter what and I wouldn't either. The Marines stared at us as they muttered about their beaten Captain. Zoro asked. "You want to fight?"
They then started cheering and I raised my eyebrows. Morgan must have been pretty bad if they are carrying on like that. Coby seemed to agree with me as he basically said what I thought out loud. Zoro was saying something and then he fell to the ground. I jumped, a little shocked and bent down to look at him as I heard Coby freak out and Luffy wonder what he was doing. He mumbled. "I'm hungry..."
I chuckled. "You sound like my brother."
Well, he must be. I think Rika said something about him not eating the whole time he was there. Zoro snorted and then I said. "Luffy, let's get some food."
He cheered and ran off. I face palmed, I should of told him to help me with Zoro first. I could do it, but I don't feel like it. I grabbed Zoro's arm and put it over my shoulder. He groaned. "What are you doing?"
I rolled my eyes. "Shut up, I'll take you to the food."
He made an annoyed grunt, but kept quiet. Soon enough, Coby followed us and we met with Luffy at the restaurant. I sat Zoro in a chair at an empty chair and smacked Luffy in the back of the head. Don't get me wrong, I don't hit him as hard as Ace did, but sometimes he needs it. We all sat down and ordered a bunch of food and ate a lot. I covered my plate as I ate to protect my food from Luffy, they would learn before a minute.
After several plates (6 of them), I just about finished at the same time as Zoro and Coby was just drinking something, but of course Luffy was still shoveling food in his mouth. Luffy stopped for a second and said. "Man, you guys are light weights."
I rolled my eyes. "Not every has a black hole for a stomach, Luf."
He stuck his tongue at me and I did the mature thing and did it back to him.
Zoro asked. "How does someone as thin as you eat more than someone that has not eaten in 3 weeks?"
Luffy shrugged and finished up his plate as I muttered. "Like I said, Black. Hole."
Zoro chuckled and Coby said. "So, you guys are going to the Grand Line."
Luffy nodded and Coby told us how dangerous it would be and I chuckled, no duh. Luffy told him we were going to go there. I said when Coby turned to me. "We have to look for the One Piece and what better place than where it is said to be?"
He sulked and I remembered I needed something. I stood up and said. "I'm going to go and get something in town."
Luffy nodded and said. "See ya later."
Zoro nodded at me and I thanked them for feeding us since I found out it was free. Waving bye to Coby, I walked down the street and look at the stores until I found the store I was looking for, a small Navigation store. I walked in and waved at the worker and looked for writing stuff.
I was thinking about using ink and fountain pens in this time. I picked out a couple of pens with a feather on it (about 5 of them), I then looked at the ink and picked black, red, blue, yellow and purple.
I was shocked they had all these colors in this time period, but I'm picked them for a reason. Back means normal ink, red stood for Ace, blue stood for Sabo, yellow stood for Luffy and purple stood for me. It was our childhood pirate flag colors. I smiled sadly and paid for everything and it was put into a bag. I walked back over, but there was Marines all over. I sighed and wondered what Luffy did.
Luffy and Zoro then walked out and they looked at me with their own smiles and we walked to the boat. I asked. "What did you do?" He told me what happened.
I chuckled. "Let's hope they fall for it."
We walked to the boat and I got in and sat down. Zoro did too and then Luffy was last. Before he could head out, I heard a familiar voice yell out. "No, wait!"
It was Coby and he was running really fast. He said. "Luffy! Mace! I would like to thank you both for everything and be friends in the future."
I grinned in sync with Luffy and he yelled out. "Sure!"
I called out. "Yeah, see ya around!"
He saluted us and Zoro said with a snort. "That's something that can go in history. A Marine saluting pirates."
I nodded in agreement and Luffy just laughed. Then a bunch of Marines shouted something and saluted us and I laughed loudly at the situation and Zoro chuckled disbelieving what he was seeing. They shouted something as we drifted off.
I leaned against the edge of the boat and grabbed the log book. I opened the first page and grabbed the black ink and a feathered pen. Luffy asked. "What are you doing?"
I said. "Starting on my Log Book".
Zoro asked. "So that's your job, Log Book Keeper?"
I shook my head with a smile and said. "It's more than just that."
He asked. "How?"
I grinned proudly at him and said. "It's my dream, to write about all the adventures we do until Luffy finds the One Piece and if there is more to see after that, then that too."
I looked a him warily, I had people mock my dreams. Ace and Luffy have gotten mad even if I said it was fine. He gave me a nod and I wrote about how we first set sail, met Coby (I put the conversations in there too, it would give me something to laugh at later), meeting Zoro and then Luffy's defeat on Morgan and leaving with Zoro as our new crewmate. I filled up 2 pages with all the stuff I put into it.
It was harder writing with a fountain pen then a pen or pencil, but I gotten used to it. It had to be a little slow and when the pen ran out of ink, I had to dip it in again. Luffy and Zoro talked to each other while I worked. I read it over and smiled with pride at it. It's perfect.
I left it next to me open so it could dry. I cleaned the pen with sea water and dried the pen on my shirt. Capping the ink, I put them back in the bag I got from the shop. I thought about how we saved Zoro and suddenly had a flashback from a couple of years ago when Ace still lived with us.
Flashback
Me, Ace and Luffy were in town. It's been a little over a year since Sabo's death and we were back. We were only Edge town though. Ace was between me and Luffy. I had my hands in my pockets, Luffy was happy as ever and Ace even seemed to be in a good mood. I smirked at my thoughts. Suddenly I heard a voice shout. "Hey, I see those kids!"
I twitched and in response all three of us turned around. One of the people we beat up was there and other were behind him and another guy said. "Yeah and the blond not 'ere either!"
I flinched a little and glared as I felt Luffy stiffen and Ace growl lowly. "You should run."
They did and we chased after them, he brought it up so we felt they had to be taught a lesson. I know that's not the way we should handle things, but I did not care. Were ended up in a deserted area and I grimaced once I realized where we were, The Red Light District. No matter what time you're in, every place has one. Ace seemed to realize this, but did not care. We went to attack them and started beating them up, me using a sharp sword. We were all separated and then I heard the cocking of a gun. I whipped around to see one pointed at Luffy. I and Ace raced over, but he pulled the trigger. I screamed with Ace. "NO!"
But image everyone's shock when the bullet starched from his stomach and hit the guy full force right in the shoulder. I was too worried for Luffy, so I grabbed Luffy and Ace's hands and raced out of there.
We got the forest and we cornered Luffy. Ace was pissed and after yelling, punching, more yelling, more punching and I eating dirt (don't ask), we looked over Luffy. We saw that there was a bruise and Ace said. "Well, he is rubber so that would work I guess?"
I grinned and hugged Luffy tightly, happy he was okay. Then we found out, Luffy was immune to blunt objects.
I was broken out of my flashback by Luffy calling my name.
I looked over at him lazily. "What, Luffy?"
He asked. "Are you done?"
I nodded and noticed it was dry. I knew he wanted to look at it and I let him (after watching carefully). When he was done, I closed it and put it on the boat floor. I yawned and noticed it was night time. I moved so I was lying on Luffy right upper thigh since I didn't have real ground or a pillow to lie on and I felt him playing with my short hair. They found out it helped me fall asleep.
Zoro asked as I shut my eyes. "What are you doing?"
Luffy answered. "Helping my brother sleep."
Zoro said. "She's a girl."
Luffy huffed. "Why does everyone say that!?"
Zoro chuckled and said. "Never mind."
I then fell asleep.

I finally finished, these will be faster, but on the week starting on the 15-20 before my winter break, I have all exams or study for those exams for the semester, so I don't know if I'll update next week where they are trying to cram in a lot of work for the exam starting Monday or what. Please tell what you think of this chapter and just to clear it up, there is no romance between Luffy and Mace or Mace and Ace. I was just showing how close they are because I skipped a gap. There will be more flashbacks later. Until next time!
