Chapter 15
Zoro's Fight and Arlong Park
Mihawk was floating in his boat like he had no other care in the world and being that strong I guess he really didn't. Since he was the one that destroyed the boats, one pirate tried to shot him, but he deflected it off his sword. I watched this action amazed. An swordsman has to admire that, he deflected it! The pirate that shot the bullets looked shocked and I heard Zoro tell him something and freaked the pirate out even more.
Yeah, Zoro can be pretty creepy to people at times. I could hear what Zoro said next though. "I never seen a sword handled with such grace."
Mihawk looked at Zoro and said back. "There's no strength in sword play by force."
Both Zoro and Mihawk are true. I don't train to be stronger by swinging my sword around like a barbarian, I like to think I handle my sword with a certain grace. Zoro asked next. "Did you use that sword to cut those ships up?"
Ah, so that's what the cross is, I was not 100% sure. Mihawk gave a nod. "I did."
Zoro said an excited tone in his voice. "It's true then, you're the best. I set sail for one reason, to meet you."
I shifted and put a hand on the hilt of my sword, not like I was going to do anything with it at this point; it was more a comfort thing for me, knowing I can touch my sword and that it is there. Mihawk said. "And what is your goal?"
Zoro said. "To beat you."
Mihawk said. "How foolish."
Zoro said as he took one of his swords out. "You got spare time, so let's do this."
I bit my lip with furrowed eyebrows and sighed, pulling my hand from the hilt of my sword and crossing them over my chest. I looked at Luffy to see him watching the fight, his face serious as it should be in this situation. I looked back to the starting fight and reminded myself to not even move closer to them until the fight is over. With that resolve in mind, I looked on with an equal serious face as Luffy. Ussop was calling us about the boat and I said. "Quiet."
He cut himself off and was silent. I'm glad he knows the seriousness of the situation. Mihawk said. "A fight? You're a weak pitiful creature."
Zoro jumped over to Mihawk until he was on the same ship as him. Mihawk said. "If you are a competent swordsman, you should see the difference in strength before we even cross swords. I must ask you why you challenged me. Could it be your courage or your ignorance?"
Zoro said. "My ambition drives me and I made a promise I intend to keep."
He had the white sword in his mouth. His words were muffled by the sword in his mouth. That leaves me to give him a little more respect and understanding to why he was fighting him now. That is what keeps mine; Luffy and Ace's dreams still alive. Mihawk took off his cross around his neck and there was a small knife when he uncapped it.
Mihawk said. "This would be more than adequate; you wouldn't kill a fly with cannon would you? You might have a reputation in the East blue, but that doesn't matter to me. This sea is by far the weakest of the four. Unfortunately I don't carry any blades smaller than this one."
Zoro said with the sword in his teeth. "I had just enough of your attitude."
I could tell he was getting mad as this guy was insulting him. He went to attack him and then to everyone's shock he stopped all three blades with his small one. What did they expect, the Greatest to lose to anyone? But to my shock and horror, Zoro seemed to snap as he started swinging wildly trying to bet a hit on Mihawk. I bit my tongue from saying or shouting anything.
I get he is freaked, but that is the skill of a newbie and not the man I fought a little while ago. I tightened the arms crossed over my chest as he easily countered all of his attacks with his small blade and knocked Zoro to the ground. Zoro quickly got up and slashed at him (me grimacing) and tried to back him into a rail. I didn't work as Mihawk merely jumped off the rail with lithe movements.
Zoro ran at him and there was more slashing and blocking from Zoro and Mihawk and then when he ran at him again, this time wobbly, he fell on his back. Mihawk called to him. "What is the weight you carry on your shoulders, speak up weakling!"
I barely even twitched at the words, but Johnny and Yosaku were a different story. "How dare you call him weakling?! You'll pay for that!"
Luffy stretched his arms and grabbed them both by their collars and snatched them back and onto the ground. I grabbed Johnny and slammed his to the ground (not too hard) and pulled a arm behind his back and sat there, still alert. Luffy had a scowl. "Don't interfere."
They still were fighting us and I snapped. "You are swordsman, are you not?"
It was quiet and I went on, still looking at Zoro and Mihawk.
"Then you know not to stop a swordsman's fight, not one like this! You would shame Zoro and plus none of us could do much."
It got quick nods. I heard a noise from Luffy and I knew him long enough to recognize it as displeased. I rolled my eyes. "It's the truth, not now anyway."
I looked at the fight to hear Zoro shout. "I won't give up, I refuse to be defeated!"
I gave a short kind of gasp when Mihawk stabbed him in the chest with the small blade. But Zoro just stood there which I knew was the doubt of being defeated. Mihawk said. "You are defeated, yet you don't step back, why not?"
Zoro said. "I don't know, I will not run. Even if I retreat a single step, I will be shattering the promises I made. I will lose my honor; you see I thought there would be nothing left for me here."
Mihawk said. "That's what defeat is."
Zoro said. "I won't accept it then."
Mihawk said. "Then you'll die."
I shifted slightly, as I do believe in the same thing to fight until my very last breath if I have to, I really don't want to see Zoro die here. Yeah, my views changed a lot here from back home, then I would have given up than to die. Swordsmanship and my brothers taught me a lot. I shook my head lightly and shifted again as Zoro said, a crazed grin on his face. "I'd rather die than give up."
Mihawk pulled the knife out and stepped back a couple of feet. He said. "You sir, state your name."
Zoro said after putting his swords in front of him. "I am Roronoa Zoro."
Mihawk said. "I'll remember it, no one as strong as you have come around for some time."
I could tell this was going to be the end, whatever the outcome was going to be. Mihawk said after he pulled off the gigantic sword from his back. "So as a swordsman, I'll use the World's Greatest Sword to finish you."
I stiffened and stepped off Johnny as I knew he wouldn't do anything. I stood next to Luffy and heard wood creaking. I looked to see his holding to the railing tightly. Decided that was a good idea on restraint, I placed my hands on it and looked at the fight again, my hands tightening as every 10 or so seconds went by and I can almost feel the veins in my arms straining against my skin. I prepared myself to watch the outcome.
It felt like time literally stood still as they raced at each other. It would have slashed him in the back but he moved with his arms out and a slash appeared on his chest and my hands tightened on the railing cracking the wood. I understood why he did it even if the injury would be less. Bushido rule: Never get stabbed in the back. I obviously failed than rule, even if it was a good reason.
I looked back to see Mihawk ask why and Zoro say with a smirk. "Scars on the back of a swordsman are a shame."
Mihawk replied. "Well said."
I watched in horror as Mihawk and Zoro got ready to attack each other and Mihawk slashed him across the chest again, but this time was worse as blood actually splashed out of the wound. I only hoped he would heal, it would be bad if he died of blood loss. My eyes were wide as I yelled. "ZORO!" I realized Luffy was the one that yelled with me.
I forgot he was there. I looked down to see him with a look he almost never had, a wild look in his eyes. I winced when Zoro splashed in the salt filled water, who knows what salt filled water could feel to his wound? Yosaku and Johnny raced forward and dived in the water. I was going to, but they had it covered.
Sanji screamed. "You stupid! Forget your ambition and live."
I curled my lip slightly in disgust. I would never do that, Luffy, Ace nor Zoro himself. I looked a bit surprised though I should not have been to see Luffy stretch his arms to the wooden thing on Mihawk side. I frowned and walked away from him, easily walking on the popped up pieces of wood until I got to the other side, the Krieg pirates looking at me in shock, not even daring to touch me (One did and I kicked him in the face without stopping).
I did what Zoro did and by the time I reached the railing I jumped over. Luffy just got him head out of a hole it got stuck in. I frowned and for comfort, put a hand on the hilt of my sword. He glared and Mihawk said. "There's nothing to fear, your friend will live."
I guess that would be true, or he wouldn't have asked him name and all. I pulled Luffy off the floor so he was standing. Luffy called. "ZORO! ZORO!"
My head snapped over to see Yosaku and Johnny pulling Zoro up on a small boat and Usopp there, helping pull him fully. I breathed a sigh of relief; at least he was out of the water. Mihawk called. "It's far too early for you to die. I'm Hawk Eye Mihawk! You're strong, but there is much for you to learn. No matter how long it takes, I will hold this title and wait for you. Until that day you must hone your skills. Then seek me out Roronoa Zoro!"
Mihawk turned to us and said to Luffy. "You, what's your goal?"
Luffy said. "To be the King."
Mihawk said. "Your goal is a lot loftier than your friend."
To my shock and amusement, Luffy stuck his tongue out and Mihawk then switched him hawk like gaze to me and then my sword and back to my eyes. His sharp like gaze locked back onto mine. "You're a Swordswomen, but you didn't interfere either". It was more of a fact than a question and he went on. "You have a sword and carry yourself in a way that you know how to use it, why don't you challenge me?"
I gave a soft smirk and said. "Beating you and becoming the Greatest is not my ambition like Zoro's. So I have no reason to cross blades with you."
I saw a flicker of interest in his eyes and then it was gone. "Oh, so what is your ambition?"
I stared at him. No matter how much his eyes wanted to make me run and said clearly. "To travel and record the world."
I gave a short version of it and Mihawk said. "Your dream is smaller than the other two, but still trying and difficult."
I looked at him with fierce determination and said with conviction. "I'll do it."
All of a sudden Usopp yelled that Zoro was alive. My eyes brightened as he called. "Luffy, can you hear me?"
Luffy said he could and Zoro said with a hoarse tone of voice. "I'm sorry for disappointing you. I know you need no less than the Greatest Swordsman in the world. I've let you down. Please forgive me. I solemnly swear I will never lose again! Until the day comes and I will defeat him and take his title. Is that okay?! King of the Pirates!?"
I gave a toothy smirk as Luffy easily agreed. I heard him crying and knew I would never bring it up. Mihawk then seemed to be finished as went to walk toward his boat and Don Krieg no matter seeing what happened decided he was the Shit and went up to him saying. "Hawk eyes, I was under the impression that you came here for my head, ruler of the East Blue, Don Krieg."
Mihawk glanced at him and said offhandedly. "The thought has crossed my mind, but I had enough today and I'm going to go rest."
I raised my eyebrows, so he did come here because he was bored. It makes sense, those strong types do what they want. Krieg was pissed about it though and Luffy grabbed onto the railing again and I went back toward the boat and dived in swimming toward the boat with Zoro and the others. I gasped when I reached it and placed the palms of my hands on the side of the boat and pulled myself up so I was on the boat on my stomach.
Usopp jumped in shock when I showed up and I shook my head, water dripping in my eyes. Unhooking my sword from me, I placed it next to me and sat next to Zoro. When we were close enough to Luffy near the Baratie, Usopp said he was leaving and Luffy said fine. Usopp then tossed Luffy his hat (which I didn't know he had) and I said. "Hey Luffy, you good with Krieg and all?" Which translated to: Do you need help fighting Krieg?
He shook his head with a grin and said. "Naw, you go with them, I'm good Mace." Which translated to: I can do it, they need your help more than me.
I nodded and said be careful. He nodded and we sailed off. I looked down at Zoro and he seemed to still be bleeding. I swore. "Dammit!"
In the end, I helped then stitch him up and it so many stitches and I had a stronger stomach than I thought because I didn't get sick. My hands though were covered in blood and I washed them off in the sea. Thought they still had the smell. I sighed and flopped on my back. I thought about the whole scars on the back thing.
I do have a scar on mine that was from when we brothers were kids. I protected Luffy from dying by that giant bear. It looks like four claw marks going down my back from a couple of inches down my right shoulder to my left hip. It is old scar tissue now, but I would get badly hurt like that again for my brothers. I guess I would follow the bushido code until my family was in danger badly or death. No code is worth losing the people I care about and love.
Sighing at the way my thoughts turned I looked at Zoro's wound and grimaced at the looks of it. Yosaku asked worriedly. "Mace-Aneki? Will Zoro-Aniki be alright?"
I frowned and looked at the sky shrugging. "Yeah, he'll be healed someday. This was good in some way."
Usopp, Johnny and Yosaku all deadpanned. "HOW IS THAT!?"
I shrugged again and said. "He knows his boundaries and knows he needs to be a lot stronger if he wants to face Mihawk again and…" …so do I if I want to protect the people I care about… was left unsaid even though I felt the words in the air. Zoro chuckled. "Thanks for that."
I jumped slightly. "Didn't know you were awake."
Usopp, Johnny and Yosaku freaked out. He finally told them to shut up and they did. Zoro told me. "Your right though and knew you couldn't fight how you are right now."
I nodded, feeling a little sleepy. "Yeah and man I'm always right."
I heard a snort and Usopp say something under his breath. Zoro said after a minute. "…Shut up."
I smirked and closed my eyes and was about to fall asleep when I heard. "SHE FELL ASLEEP!"
Though Usopp sighed and said. "She does it all the time…"
Then it got dark.
… ….. …. ….. ….. … ….. …
I woke up with a gasp feeling that something was wrong and blinked to see Zoro wrapped in bandages and tied to the mast of this boat. I saw Johnny and Usopp then jump ship and race away. I sat up and scratched my head and winced as I felt a bump. What the Hell? I looked to see someone swimming over here. I asked. "What the hell is going on?"
Zoro said, annoyed. "Nami is around Fishmen, they got scared when I was going to fight hit me and then hit you when you were sleeping and tied me up."
I felt pissed. "Why the hell would they do that?"
Zoro grunted angrily. "I don't know!"
I shook my head. "I mean, you go slashed in the chest, but I am perfectly fine."
Zoro snapped. "What the hell does that supposed to mean?"
I looked at him like it was obvious. "You're badly injured and I'm not."
He opened his mouth and his face was a little red, but then two people/things came on our boat. I blinked at these ugly looking people. I'm not one to judge, but these things looked like deformed and demented fish. I blinked and said. "Looking at you makes my eyes and brain hurt."
They looked at me in shock at the bluntness of my statement. It's the truth! They looked pissed and I guess they had reason. I looked to see Zoro still tied and swore, I frowned and he said quietly. "Run and go find Nami."
My eyes widened and he gave a nod. I looked back to see the ugly things come forward and I dived off the boat. I swan off to shore and swam fast. I put as much speed as I could and just reached the shore when he showed up. I rolled and got to my feet, sopping wet for the second time today. I blinked. "How did you get here so fast?"
He puffed up and said. "I'm a Fisherman and we can both breathe and live underwater! That's only the physical part to our strength. We are more superior than humans. Our race is better-"
I raised a hand and sighed. "Okay, I had enough of that stupidity for one day. Here is what is gonna happen, I have something to do here, so I'm going to kick your ass and then do what I want to do, ok? No objections, great."
He shifted and I pulled my sword out, gripping it with my right hand. I raised my eyebrows at him and he rushed at me. I ducked and slashed at his ribs.
But only seemed to anger him more and I blocked his forearm, but then his fist went full force in my ribs and I fell on my back a couple of feet away. I groaned as the right side of my ribs throbbed. I still had my sword in my grip, so I stood up ignoring the pain.
The Fishman started talking. "See what happens when you mess with-"
He had to stop and duck the stab aimed at his chest. The chest was huge so I lunged again and stabbed at him, it only sunk into his left breast. I yanked it out with a twist of my hand and he let out a bellow of pain. I smirked at the blood dripping down part of his chest.
I then sliced at his legs and chest, leaving gashes until he kicked me in the shoulder, dislocating it. My eyes widened at the pain and I was lucky it was the left. I quickly sucked up all the pain and gave a deep slash across the chest. He gave a groan and fell, face first.
I sheathed my sword and winced at the pain in my shoulder. I clutched my arm and walked to away from here. I need someone to set it, usually Ace, Luffy or a couple of bandits would do it. I sighed and saw a forest ahead. Figuring I still had my sword arm, I walked ahead in the forest. I can use my left hand with a sword too, but I prefer my right.
I was walking through the forest, running until it hurt too much and then walking again. I was getting really annoyed and hoped what I would run into Zoro, Usopp or even Johnny and Nami too. I looked ahead to see Zoro running.
"Hey Zoro!"
He stopped short at me and looked at my arm. "What happened to your arm?"
I scowled and said. "Dislocated arm, can you fix it?"
Shrugging, he nodded and got behind me, he said. "He might want to clench your teeth or something."
I had done this and said through gritted teeth.
"Got it". I felt a fist slam into my shoulder and my eyes widened as I hissed out a scream at the pain and ignored the rolling of my stomach. I swallowed and said after rolling my shoulder a little. "Thanks, why you running for?"
His eyes widened and said. "I'll tell you on the way, hurry up!"
I nodded and he told me between breaths than Nami was an Arlong Pirate and tricked us. Plus, that the fish men were looking for Usopp. I yelled. "WHAT?! She's been lying to us this whole time then?"
He nodded and I said. "Yeah, we'll we better hurry up, to help Usopp. Plus my shoulder got like that frin a Fishman, of course I won."
We then ran and I looked up in shock. "Z-zoro!"
I dodged out of the way as a big boat came toward us, but still managed to get hit by it. Zoro had it worse though and I pushed up from the boards to see Luffy, Sanji and Yosaku. Zoro screamed. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!?"
Luffy laughed and put a hand on the hat on his head. Luffy grinned. "We got Sanji."
I nodded with a smile of my own and said. "Yeah, I noticed."
Sanji made some weird eyes at me and I ducked away. I heard Zoro snort and I glared. I asked. "You guys okay?"
Luffy laughed again. "Yeah!"
Sanji, Zoro and Yosaku yelled. "Speak for yourself!"
I chuckled and Zoro said. "Luffy, we have to go now!"
Luffy looked confused. "What, why?"
I said hurriedly as I got distracted. "Usopp is about to be killed by Fishmen! Trust me they ain't pushovers."
Luffy looked surprised and was about to say something, but someone said. "It's too late! Usopp-Aniki is dead and Nami killed him!"
I spun around in shock and looked to see a depressed looking Johnny sink to his knees. I heard Johnny say. "It's true; Nami was a traitor all along. She's been winning Arlong's favor so she can get the treasure buried in Cocoyashi village to herself! That woman is a cold blooded killer. She won't stop until she gets what she wants. Nami had us fooled the entire-"
Luffy grabbed Johnny and stopped him from speaking and his hat flew off. I scowled and walked away from the boards and picked his hat up off the ground.
I find that unbelievable because she couldn't even kill me or Luffy that one time and Luffy the other time too. And that was not because of strength but will. Luffy kept on yelling at Johnny and with a frustrated sigh; I grabbed the back of Luffy's vest and pulled him away. I saw him look at me mad and I plopped his hat on his head a little harder than normal.
I get he was mad, but he needed to calm down. Johnny was a lot weaker and pounding his face in would not help. Plus I can tell it would piss Zoro off. He went to say something, but someone's voice said. "What did you say about friends now?"
I let him go as he walked forward and I put my hands in my pockets, feeling my treasure in my hand. It was Nami and she had a cold look on her face. Oh, great! Luffy called her name and she asked what he was doing here. Luffy replied back. "You're our friend, we came to get you."
A sneer was on her face as said. "Friends don't make me laugh. To me you all are pests I traveled with."
Johnny then yelled at her for 'killing' Usopp. Nami smirked at him and replied. "Yes I did, why don't you kill me and get revenge."
I tightened my hands into fists, dammit Nami! Nami went on. "Word to the wise, Arlong wants to kill Zoro along with his crew."
I smirked myself; I'd like to see him try. Nami finished with say that we would die if we stayed on the island. I shrugged, it all was to Luffy and I l knew he would never leave a friend behind, neither would I, but it's his decision that counts. I then heard. "Her heartless face is so hot! Hey Nami, it's me Sanji. Let's run away together."
I sighed and felt my eyebrow twitch. Zoro seemed to feel the same. He insulted him and he did the same back and I sighed again, this time a bit more harshly. I felt my eyebrow twitch and Zoro asked her. "Where is Usopp?"
Nami answer was. "With the fishes."
I grit my teeth and was about to stop Zoro when Sanji did. I know she deserves a couple of punches to the head or something, but Zoro could kill her in a fit of rage. Sanji said. "I know why you would act that way, after the loss you just had."
I stiffened as my eye twitch violently amd snapped. "Hey! Shut up about that!"
Everyone stared at me and I rolled my eyes. Zoro opened his mouth most likely to say not to defend him and I said. "Never insult a swordsman battle like that, it's insulting to me."
Sanji face went from mad to soft looking. "I'm so sorry dear Mace! I never meant to-"
I actually growled at him. "Shut up!"
He did and I was ever so thankful. Nami decided it was time for her to talk. "Leave, you guys have no right to be into this island's affairs. Don't you get it, the only reason I got close to you guys was to rob you of everything you have. But now you're broke and the dream's dead. So go and take your ship. So leave and find the One Piece or whatever."
I snapped. "Oh, shut up all ready!"
Nami looked at me shocked for a second and then schooled her expression. "What?"
I felt stares on the back of my head and said with another eye roll. "What you been saying about killing Usopp is bullshit! You could never kill anyone especially someone as innocent as him. Not because of strength, but will. You may be a Money Witch, but you would never go that far."
I heard Zoro give a snort and ignored Sanji love nonsense. Before anyone could say anything Luffy suddenly plopped to the ground saying "Sleepy". I let out a laugh with a fond smile in his direction.
I walked over to him as he said he was going to sleep and not going to leave. Nami snapped and said. "Fine go and die for all I care!"
With that she ran away and I noticed something strange on her hand. She had a black glove on one hand that was not there before. I sat next to him and was almost asleep. He dragged himself until his head was in my lap and his hat was on his chest. They looked in shock and I grinned. I ran my hands through his hair to help him sleep better and he sighed, snoring a bit, a small smile tugging at his lips.
They stared at me and I raised my eyebrows. They all sat down and Johnny and Yosaku said they didn't want to die over this and said they were going to leave. Zoro nodded and said. "Okay, I see. See ya around."
I gave them a wave as they left and we were sitting in silence. Sanji started smoking, but I was used to it because the bandits did it and Benn from Makino's bar did it. Sanji then asked Zoro as I put my hands behind my head. "Why do you think she was crying?"
I blinked, what the hell is he talking about? Zoro asked the same thing I was thinking. Sanji replied back. "In her heart she was."
I rolled my eyes once more; of course it's more of his lovey dopey stuff. Zoro said. "Maybe it's the guilt from killing Usopp."
I gave a loud snort and said. "I don't believe it."
Zoro looked at me with a frown. "Do you really think she didn't kill him?"
I gave a smirk and crossed my arms across my chest. "Of course not."
Sanji was looking at me and Zoro asked me. "Why would you think that?"
I said. "One, Nami said she was going to kill us before and stopped, not like she could and Luffy told me she could of saved her own skin and blew him up, but sold herself out and you told me that she helped you before and me and you don't look as innocent as Luffy or Usopp even though Luffy really ain't."
Sanji was nodding along with me and I know Luffy looks it and acts like an idiot, but from the things we dealt with Ace and Sabo, he's not. Zoro shrugged in the end. "Who knows? I always thought Nami was small time who couldn't let a guy die? She could have just snapped."
This seemed to piss off Sanji for some reason. "How dare you call Nami small time!?"
I shifted annoyed as Sanji went to attack him with a kick and Zoro quickly blocked with the shealth of his sword. I blinked in shock and Luffy moved and I stayed a bit more still and leaned on my palms to steady myself. My jaw dropped in shock when I saw Usopp fall to the ground with a bruised up face. I jumped up and Luffy fell to the ground.
I looked more closely and saw that it really was Usopp. I smirked toothy at Zoro and he rolled his eyes at me with an annoyed grunt. I walked over and knelt down to his side. He only looked knocked out. I was this pushed on my back by Luffy (who was up now) and was shaking him asking. "Usopp! Did Nami do this to you!?"
I shook my head and kicked the back of his leg in annoance. "One, don't push me and two; he got in the way of Zoro and Sanji."
At least I got to see the damage of his skill. Zoro I can ask to fight me seriously, but I have a big feeling Sanji wouldn't. Usopp yelled at Sanji and Zoro said. "We kind of heard Nami killed you by Johnny."
Luffy was getting mad, saying he was lying and I was confused. Usopp said. "In a way, it is the truth. The truth is she saved me."
So he told us how she stabbed her hand to make it look like she killed him so he could get away. I grinned. "I knew it!"
Usopp nodded. "It seems like she had a motive to be with those Fishmen."
The question is what was that motive. We were talking about what to do when we heard a voice behind us. "It doesn't matter what you do, Arlong Park's rule won't come to an end."
I turned around to see a girl with short blue hair and tattoos. Usopp said. "Nojiko."
I looked at him and asked. "You know her?"
He nodded and said. "Yeah, it's Nami's sister."
Luffy tilted his head to the side and Sanji said some crap about her being beautiful or something, I ignored it. Zoro then asked. "What do you mean it's no use?"
Nojiko said. "Just trust me, don't get yourselves involved what's going on here. Leave poor Nami alone, I'll explain the situation."
Sanji questioned. "What situation?"
Usopp said. "You mean to tell us why she joined Arlong's group."
I asked. "To tell us why she acts the way she does?"
Nojiko nodded at my question. "Exactly and if that doesn't get you to leave, I don't know what will."
Usopp said. "So then tell you all about it, I got to admit I'm curious".
Luffy said. "I'll pass."
Usopp said. "Hey wait!"
Luffy said. "I don't care about her past."
He went to walk off and I chuckled. Of course he does not care, he wants her as Nakama. The past does not matter. I still like to know what I'm dealing with, Luffy don't look at those details. He sees the big picture and goes for it. I said. "Be careful, Luf."
He nodded and waved his hand in an uncaring way. "Yeah, yeah I know."
I smirked as he walked off. Sanji asked. "Where are you going!?"
Luffy replied. "For a walk."
Usopp asked. "Do you mean you're not going to listen to any of this?"
Luffy said. "Nope."
With that, he finally disappeared. Zoro said. "Okay then, I'll listen."
Then he felt asleep and I laughed. I crossed my arms over my chest and leaned against a tree. "Well, you can tell us, we'll listen."
Nojikp sighed and she looked at us. "I can tell why it was hard for her."
She then told us there story.
Nami and Nojiko were found by their mother figure named Bellemere when she was still a marine and then she quit and raised them. One day Nami and their mom had a fight and she ran off. Nojiko was outside when they found each other and the Arlong Pirates invaded their island.
They were collecting tribute money and killed their mother in front of them to save them. Nami had been collecting 100,000,000 Berries to save her island since she was around 10 years.
That was it. Thoughts of Sabo rang in my head. I sat up a little straighter when she finished and asked Nojiko seriously. "So she did this to protect us?"
Nojiko gave another sigh and nodded. I felt my face darken and went on. "So she is suffering to protect us?"
Nojiko nodded again and Usopp snapped. "Mace, why do you have to rub it in!?"
I looked down and through my bangs. I clenched my fists at my sides and thought about who else did this for us.
Sabo. Our brother went back to the one place he hated to save us from getting killed by those pirates and then was killed by that World Noble. I felt a deep lump in my throat at the thought of letting someone being hurt or killed because they wanted to protect. I swallowed and stood up with a grunt. "I guess it's not a question now, huh?"
Usopp looked at me and Nojiko asked. "What do you mean?"
I looked ahead and said. "We have to help her now, we can't let Nakama suffer like that and not even try to help, right?"
I heard Usopp and Sanji agree with me and heard Zoro say. "I guess Mace is right."
Huh, I knew he was awake listening. Nojiko looked at me shocked. "What?! Have you listened to anything I said!?"
I nodded. "Yeah and now I am responding. If you're worried about our strength don't worry. They were doomed the moment my captain proclaimed her Nakama."
Zoro sighed and stood next to me. "Yeah and the captain of ours won't leave unless we get her."
With that all four of us walked past Nojiko and toward Arlong Park. I had no idea, but Usopp was leading the way. Soon enough I heard Luffy yell. "HE'S GONNA PAY!"
Zoro smirked and I said. "It looks like that's our answer."
When I got three other nods we walked until we ran into Luffy and he said two words seriously. "Let's go."
We walked past Nami and I saw many gashes on her shoulder. Zoro said she had a tattoo, so that must have been it. I grimaced as I noticed that must have been self-made. I patted her on the head as I walked past and she looked at me with watery eyes. I smiled and walked on Luffy left and Zoro on his right with Usopp and Sanji behind us respectively.
We showed up at the gates to see the villagers and a beat up Johnny and Yosaku. That's good; it looks like they did stay to help. Luffy said. "Move aside."
They did and Luffy held up a fist. With a hard punch he knocked the doors aside. I looked to see who had to be Arlong sitting in a chair like throne. Luffy asked, a dark look and slight growl in his voice. Looking at the bastard made me want to kill him with my bare hands sword be damned. Arlong looked amused as Luffy said."Which one of you is Arlong?"
Arlong said. "That would be me."
Luffy stomped forward and I was behind him as two fishman came forward and before I could do anything, Luffy smashed their heads together. This octopus looking man was saying he seen Luffy before. Luffy pulled his arm back and I moved to the side as Luffy punched Arlong, making his crash into a fence behind him. I watched all of this with shadowed eyes, the shark bastard was going to pay and so were the rest of them!
So there you have it, another chapter! I had no internet for about a week so I had a lot of time for updates. I'm not going to make this the usual thing, though I will update better than before since school is over in Two days!
