Girl Falls Into One Piece
Chapter 22
I did not understand the guy looking like Jester floating on water at all. Luffy and Usopp looked as lost as I did and Zoro sounded the same. Devil Fruits is the ocean enemy, so how is he doing that? I doubt he's a doctor. Usopp and Luffy were squinting ahead, looking at the guy and I wondered where he got his clothes, Joker's R' Us?
Shaking my head, to back on the issue at hand, I put a hand on the hilt of my sword, getting ready just in case I have to fight or not. I frowned and blinked. "Luffy? Usopp? You see that too, right"? They both nodded.
"Uh-huh". They rubbed their eyes and I wondered why I was so surprised, I've seen weird things on this ocean already. The guy finally called out after intense staring.
"Hello!? It sure is chilly today"! So, he can speak, at least that's something. Luffy looked at Usopp and Usopp looked back at him. Luffy said.
"It is chilly today". Usopp agreed with him.
"Yeah, it is. In face I would say its freezing". I shook my head at them, my bangs falling in my eyes. I ran a hand through my hair and frowned. It's longer now, all the way to my shoulders and almost in my eyes. I'll need to cut it soon. I walked over to the crow's nest and started climbing, moving around the weights and standing next to Zoro. He nodded at me and I looked ahead, trying to think of who would cut my hair. Suddenly the Joker guy said.
"Really"? That shocked them and I sighed. Wasn't he the one that said it was cold first?! Suddenly the boat was blown back by a wave and I yelped, clasping my hands tightly on the railing. So my stomach was half on and half off the railing. I gave a grunt and blinked, jumping as I was almost thrown overboard. Luffy called out.
"Is that a watermelon"?! I looked closer and noticed it was a submarine, something they had in my time that I didn't know they had it the Pirating age. I let go of the railing and the boat lurched. I yelled out as I flew in the air, I quickly unbuckled my sword and took off my hat, tossed them to Zoro (which he caught) and my limbs flailed as I fell into the ocean with a splash.
"COLD, COLD, COLD"! I popped out; I just froze my ass off! Dammit, its cold! I need to get back on the ship. I had advice, never go in the ocean in winter time! Ever! I spit out water and kicked my feet in circles, keeping my afloat. I heard my name.
"MACE? YOU OKAY"?! I yelled back.
"YEAH! I'M GOOD"! If you didn't know, that was Luffy. I turned around and my mouth dropped open in shock. That's a big ship. I was swimming toward our ship, I was still cold! I was almost at the wall and I heard someone laugh.
"Wahahaha! Don't tell me my under water ship of the Tin Pirates surprised you, Wahahaha"! Ok, that laugh was annoying. I called to Luffy.
"Hey, help me up, Luffy"! I heard him shout okay and a rubbery arm wrapped me under my arms and I was lifted out of the water and surprisingly I smashed into the crow's nest. I groaned as I slacked my elbow and knew into some weights. I stood up and was shocked that loud didn't notice anything. Zoro wordlessly gave me my hat and sword, which I put on my head and strapped to my waist.
We were quiet and relaxed until suddenly were attacked with guns pointed at us with snow jackets on and I sighed. I rubbed my wet head and smiled.
"At least they were kind enough to let us blow off some steam". I and Zoro were back to back because the crow's nest was not for many people. Suddenly Sanji came out and lit a cigarette.
"What's going on here"? Luffy said blankly.
"We're under attack and it's still snowing". Well, thanks for clearing that up, Luf. Sanji agreed.
"I can see that, the guns pointing at my face gave that one away". My eye brow twitched. That guy that laughed earlier was eating meat and being really loud about it. As I looked at him, he was huge, had some kind of metal thing on his jaw and had a cape and purple hair, overall he was stupid looking. Now he started talking.
"You all consider yourself to be a band of pirates? That's amusing, I only count 5 of you". It was time for my whole face to twitch when he ate the blade of his knife. I flinched and said.
"That's just horrible! What a waste of a blade and pain to my own teeth". I scrunched my nose at him and I was poked with two of the rifles. I gave each of them a dark look.
"Don't do that". They back off, moving back a bit. They better listen. The rest of my crew gave him freaked out expressions. Luffy asked.
"That's just weird, what kind of guy likes to eat knives". I muttered.
"Says the guys that eats everything else". Zoro gave a snort at my reply. One of them gave me a look and I smirked, try it buddy, and see what happens. Usopp flipped out and I can't blame him.
"Ah! My gums are bleeding just watching"! The fat guy said.
"Alright I'll keep this simple. My men and I wish to travel to Drum Kingdom. You wouldn't have an eternal Pose or Log Pose, would ya"? Let's not tell him about the one to Alabasta. I don't want to deal with that. Sanji said.
"Sorry, can't help. Never even heard of this Drum Kingdom". That's true, I don't think either of us heard of it. Luffy said.
"Well, now that we got that all settled, can you guys just leave already? We're in a hurry and we don't have time to deal with all of this". I could not have said that better by myself". The fat guy said.
'You'll never enjoy life if you're always in a rush. Bu if you have neither pose, what can be done? I suppose I'll have to settle for the treasure on this ship". I snorted in amusement, what treasure would that be? Also, I think Nami would break out of her fever if we did have some and kick his ass. It was a sobering thought and brought me out of my amusement, we needed to leave and get Nami a doctor.
"We'll I'm feeling a bit hungry". With that, he took a large bit out of the ship! I growled and scowled darkly.
"Hey"! I was prodded in the chest as Luffy also yelled at him and got pushed back by the guards. I glared at this guy angrily and said darkly.
"Don't. Touch. Me". I grabbed him by the jacket the same time Luffy punched the others and picked him up over my head, throwing him back to his ship with a roar.
"Damn bastard"! I felt a stare at me. Usopp and Zoro said.
"Too much alike". I decided to ignore that and one of the guards yelled.
"Damn pirates! You're under attack! Shot them"! I grinned and jumped down, actually falling on one and rolling against a pillar when they started shooting. The pieces of wood flew by me and I turned around, missing the gunfire and jumped between a squad of them, my sword and slashing all and I said.
"Tornado Wind"! They all let out cries, falling to the deck. I grinned and placed a foot on one of them and looked around. Sanji and Zoro also beat their share, by their kick and slicing respectively. Vivi came out and Luffy rushed at the fat guy. My blood boiled when he started eating our ship still. My eyes widened when he went in his mouth (that sounds weird), but I noticed Luffy's arms were stretched back.
Luffy arms came back, knocking him away who knows how far. I grinned with the others. His crew was shocked, Luffy tends to do that. The Jocker yelled.
"This is bad! He sent Wapol out into the ocean"! The one with black afros said.
"Bad? It's worse! A disaster! Wapol gonna drown, he can't swim"! They then left in their ship, threating to kill us and all that I don't care about. These guys are weak, anyway. They finally left. Usopp said.
"Wow, crazy. Those guys are really upset. What did they call that garbage can, Wapol"? Sanji said.
"Who cares what his name is, don't worry about it, that guy is obviously a moron. Best to leave it alone". I nodded in agreement and sighed, walking into the girl's room and closing the door, I could faintly hear the others moving around outside.
I walked near Nami's bed and frowned at her, flushed face. I grabbed the warm cloth off her head and grabbed a cold water bowl, dunking it and laying it gently on her forehead, tensing when she shivered. I sat against the wall, near her bed. I looked over at her, she might get on my nerves, annoy me and is a greedy witch, she is still Nakama and I care about her.
She is strong in her own way, but I have the need to protect her. Like I fell with Luffy. Getting stronger does not help me here; sickness is something that I can't do anything about. I hate, being this helpless, I could tell Zoro and Luffy feel the same. I tilted the brim of my hat over my face and feel asleep.
I had bad dreams when I was younger that pop up sometimes. I was only 8 when I started getting them and Sabo died a year before. Garp. Sabo. Luffy. Ace. Makino. Shanks and even Dadan in the bandits. Dying, tortured, killed, maimed, you name it and after every dream Austin would show up and those death would be my fault or because I was not strong enough or something like that.
They were horrible and Ace might have been mean when we were kids, but no matter what, he would comfort me, never got mad at me during these times. They were coming back.
Nami was sick already, burning with fever. The dream was sickening. The crew was not there, I didn't know where they were. I was tied to a chair in the middle of the room. On a table to the right was the cure that I would need. To the left was a way to get out of the chair and I only had one choice.
Nami's breath was getting slower. She was dying and then suddenly, her harsh breaths were softer. I called out.
"Nami! Nami! Breathe"! She looked at me, eyes dulled with high fever and she opened her mouth, but nothing came out. I called again, panic bubbling in my chest.
"No! Nami, Breathe! You need to make that map of the world, remember"?! Her eyes shut and her chest stopped moving. I lurched in the chair, bouncing and trying to get to her. Where's Luffy? Usopp? Zoro? Sanji? Vivi? Why do I have to see this?! No, No, No, No, No, No!
My head hung and I shivered, the smell of death in the air.
I woke up with a choked gasp, chest heaving. Nami! Where is she?! I shook, blinking the wetness out of my eyes. I gripped my hair which was stiff with salt.
"Mace"? My head snapped up and I stared at Nami with wide eyes. My eyes were shadowed. She was sitting up; a dazed and lost look on her face. I panted, edging near the bed, till I was leaning on it. Nami stared at me confused and I realized something, I needed to hear it. I sat on the bed slightly and moved my head toward her chest. She just stared at me and I laid my head lightly on her chest, my ear in the middle.
I waiting and surprisingly Nami didn't tell me to get off. She actually was petting my hair. I listened and waiting until I heard it.
Thunp. Thump. Thump.
Her heart was beating against my ear, slow, but there. I took a breath and smiled. She was okay from now. She was still petting me, it was silent before and I moved my head. She smiled and looked dazed and I gently put my hands on her shoulders, putting her down on the bed and moved, watching her close her eyes. I replaced the towel on her forehead and walked out, closing the door silently and walked on the deck.
I climbed the crow's nest and saw Sanji shivering. I greeted him and he smiled.
"Hello, Mace darling". I nodded, snatching a weight from next to him and made sure it had extra weight, I would need it after that dream. I jumped down, grunting with the extra weight. I walked to a area and started lifted, harder and rougher than normal. I evened my breathing. Calming down and letting my mind close off, my muscles straining as sweat gathered in the back of my neck. I heard Usopp come out a little while later, hammering away at what that guy Wapol did.
He and Sanji started talking and I put down my weight, feeling tightness in my upper back and shoulders. I rolled them and pulled the weight from one side of the barbell. Grabbing my belt I slid it off and tied the weight around my back, dropped to the floor and did pushups. I was saying the numbers in my head and out loud. At the point where dawn was here, I was at the 110 mark, tired a little, but I kept going. The rest of them came out, but didn't bother me at all.
I heard Vivi, Usopp and Sanji talk about the weather and how islands had certain weather climates or things like that. I moved to my feet, dropping the weight and stuffing my belt back through the loops. I tightening the weight back on the side I unhooked it from. I heard Sanji yell.
"Island! Dead Ahead"! I blinked, finally! We can get a doctor! I walked over the railing near the figurehead and narrowed my eyes, I could see the outline of the island. I climbed on the figurehead, standing on it (I'll deal with Luffy if I have to). Luffy suddenly came out, knocking into me. I yelped and grabbed him, making us fall backward. He laughed and climbed on his seat and I grumbled as I stood, up next to him. I fixed the hat to sit better on my head.
"Yay, an island! Nami's saved! Ooh, a snow island"! Sanji cut in as the island got closer.
"Wait a minute, we're stopping to get a doctor, not here to get an adventure, you hear me"? Luffy was amazed.
"Look at the snow, it's all white"! Sanji and Usopp both gave up and I chuckled, took them long enough to learn Luffy goes at his own pace. I figured it was going to be cold, so I walked inside the girl's room and grabbed two coats, one blue and one red. Luffy will need it. I walked back out there. We were getting closer.
I threw on my jacket and held the other one over my arm. I scratched my head with the other hand.
"Are mountains supposed to be square"? I heard Usopp asked Luffy if he was cold and that made me smirk. Vivi said.
"It's ten degrees below freezing out here. That's when bears get ready to hibernate". Luffy looked at her and I grinned, wait for it. 5,4,3,2,1..
"It's cold"! I laughed as Sanji and Usopp yelled at him.
"YOU JUST NOTICED THAT NOW"?! I handed Luffy his coat and he grinned.
"Huh, thanks Mace"! He threw it on quickly, throwing it on. Zoro came out and said.
"Who's gonna look for the doctors". Luffy and Sanji said they would and I nodded.
"Yeah, I'll go too". I wouldn't trust both of them together alone with something like this. Suddenly a bunch of people I guessed we're from the island yelled at us to go away, I muttered.
"Now, that's hostile". They surrounded us on the cliff, rifles in their hands. Jeez, that is up with crowds an d rifles these past two days? Luffy said.
"Look, people". Usopp replied.
"Yeah, but they don't seem too friendly". I shrugged.
"We're pirates, answer enough to most people". Luffy shrugged, pirates are plundering killers to most people. This buff guy in a green suit with a floppy ear hat said.
"I'll only say this once, leave. Your kind is not welcome here". Luffy raised his hands a bit, palms up.
"We only came to find a doctor". Vivi called out.
"We have someone who's sick"! One of the men called out.
"You have to do better that that! We won't fall for that old trick"! Another one said.
"This is our island! We won't let any filthy pirates land here"! I raised a hand.
"Seriously, man! If we don't get a doctor, our friend will die"! I clenched my teeth at the thought. The crowd stirred angrily.
"Go now, we don't care about your lies! Raise anchor and leave"! These people will not listen to reason, do I have to do the stereotype pirate thing. I put a hand on the hilt of my sword, moving it out a little. Sanji said.
"That's great, we barely said hello and they already hate us". One screamed and shot at us, making Sanji jump away. My eyes flashed, really? Sanji rushed at him and Vivi stopped him and a shot went toward her shoulder. I growled, they want to hit our friend!? Yes, Vivi is a friend to me. My sword was out and my foot on the railing and my other on the toes, ready to jump and attack them, my heard pounding in my ears.
I feel how pissed the rest of the crew was. It only fueled my anger. Luffy screamed.
"Vivi! Why you"! Luffy stopped and I glared at the men. Vivi yelled.
"Stop, its fine! It only grazed my arm"! It was quiet and I saw Vivi on all fours, forehead to the deck. My eyes widened in anger.
"V-vivi?! What are you doing"? My sword was still pointed at the men and I snapped.
"We don't have to bow to these cowards"! They started yelling at me and I snarled.
"Shut up, all of you"! Vivi shouted to me.
"Mace, calm down! You're worried about Nami, right? You're making it worse as she gets hurt by the time wasted"! My eyes widened and I looked between Vivi and the men that shot at her. I grit my teeth and growled, sheathing my sword with a deep scowl and glowered at the men, muscles tense. Vivi went on.
"We don't need to go on land, but will you please call us a doctor? Our friend is dying from a serious illness! Please help us"! Luffy was shocked and I was too, to bow to someone…
"You are not fit to be captain of this ship". My eyes widened and my back stiffened in anger at what she said. Does she know what he's done to help the people on this crew, the things we had to live with? She went on before I could say anything. "Not everything can be fixed by starting a fight. We can't get into a fight here, think about what would happen to Nami, think about what would happen to her"!
My eyes darkened as Luffy bowed too. I get what Vivi was saying, but bowing to them. I'm a swordsman, I bow to no one. While they did that and Luffy asked for a doctor. I looked them all in their faces, back straight. It was a message; I was not going to bow to bastards like them. They knew what I meant, I noticed a couple of them bristle looking at me and I just stared. I walked over to them and bent down, picking up Luffy hat, twirling it around my finger. I put it on his head.
"I'll show you to our village, follow me". The buff green guy said this. Zoro decided to stay with the boat and we all jumped off with the boat. I was walking behind Vivi, the others were ahead. I hated to do this, but I sighed and grabbed Vivi shoulder and she turned to me surprised.
"Mace-san, is there a problem"? I scowled slightly and said.
"Yeah, there is". She looked surprised and I said.
"What you said earlier is wrong". We were walking slowly.
"What? About not fighting all the time"? I shook and decided to just be blunt with it.
"About saying Luffy is not fit to be captain". She looked shocked and opened her mouth to say something, but I shook my head.
"No, Listen to me. Luffy is my brother, but my captain too. He does not act like most pirate captains, but you insulted my captain. If you were not my friend I would have beat or gutted you". She looked shocked.
"What"? I frowned, trying to think of a way to understand. I said.
"As our captain, Luffy has a pride and you stepped on him, you were right about not fighting, I just don't want to catch you saying something like that, okay". I smiled at her, showing her we were friends. She nodded looking a little lost and I walked ahead. At least I got that off my chest. Luffy may not be like other pirate captains, but he deserves respect. All of a sudden, Usopp screamed.
"AH! A BEAR"! It was a white polar bear with a wooden cane walking past us. What the hell? "Pretend to be dead". I chuckled and caught up with the others.
"That won't work with the rise and fall of your chest". I laughed again at the horrified groan. I was feeling more relaxed now that I had talked to Vivi. The green coat guy said.
"A hiking bear, he poses no threat". It was not a cane, but a pick axe instead. I looked to the side and saw Nami being carried by Sanji on his back. I flash of something digging into my legs stopped me; I bent down and lifted my pants leg up. The stitches Nami made were digging into my skin. Scowling to myself, I decided I would have to pull them out soon.
I stood straight and started walking again. The green buff guy said.
"This place is called Big Horn". Luffy was amazed at the place.
"Look at all the weird animals all over the place". We stopped and Sanji said.
"Look Nami, we found a place with people". The green buff guy who they called Dalton tried to protest leaving him with us, but Dalton convinced them. So they walked off and Dalton steering us toward a house. Usopp shouted.
"Look Luffy, another one of them hiking bears"! Luffy blinked.
"Another one". I laughed at them once they were bowing at a fat lady who greeted Dalton. Really, sometimes they are too much! An old guy said.
"Hey Dalton, I can't wait for the election in 2 days! Everyone I talked to say their going to vote for you". Dalton looked embarrassed for a moment and waved him off, saying he was just a normal citizen. So after that, we got it his house and I sighed in relief at the temperature difference from in here to out there. Sanji laid Nami in bed and Vivi covered her with a blanket. I sat on the ground and leaned against the side wood of the bed. Dalton said.
"Sorry for the conditions". Dalton let down his bed and looked at Vivi. "Excuse me, can I ask you a question? You look familiar to me for some reason". Vivi looked panicked.
"What? No! I just have one of those faces I guess". I narrowed my eyes at her, what is she hiding. I shrugged, she basically told us we would be risking our lives with Crocodile, I don't think she could hide anything that close to be important. Vivi asked.
"Anyway, could you tell us more about that witch or doctor, whatever she is? Nami's fever gone up to 107". My eyes widened.
"WHAT"?! I remember one thing from my own time, 107 is almost dying! Dalton was shocked too.
"How long has she had it"? I get it, they are just going to ignore me! Vivi said.
"Several days now, it just keeps on getting higher". I looked around and noticed Luffy and Usopp missing. I frowned, where did they go? Dalton said.
"She will likely die if it gets any worse". Yay, just the thing I wanted to hear. Vivi said.
"We don't know what it is or how to treat her". Sanji snapped as I watched each one of them as they talked.
"Nami needs a doctor as soon as possible! Any doctor will do! Where is this witch of yours"?! Dalton said.
"The witch? You see those mountains outside the window"? I nodded.
"Yeah, the square ones". Suddenly I heard Sanji scream.
"GET IN HERE BEFORE I KILL YOU"! I blinked in shock and looked to see that Usopp and Luffy were playing outside in the snow. Dalton said.
"Those mountains out there are known as the Drum Rockies. Do you see the castle on top of the largest one, the one in the middle"? I squinted at the window and could see a small speck. That must be it. Luffy and Usopp were inside, drinking some kind of coco. Dalton told us that was where the witch doctor lived, in the castle. "Doctor Kureha lives on top of the mountain". Sanji angrily asked why.
"We need to call her hear right now, Nami needs her help"! Dolton then told us there was no way to contact her. I blanched and snapped.
"What? What use is she, if you can't even get any help from her"? Dalton looked at me and said.
"She is a great doctor, she a eccentric old women and good at what she does, she's 140 years old". My jaw dropped in shock, she's older than Grandpa! I held my head for a second, what if Grandpa lives that long, old enough to chase us when we are in our 20's and 30's. No doubt he seen Luffy's wanted poster, he flipped out with extra training when he saw Ace's. I was brought back to the conversation by saying they saw her in a sleigh in the sky, making her a twitch.
"Santa"? They all looked at me blankly and I blushed slightly, realizing I said that out loud. They all said in unison
"Who"? I shook my head.
"Nothing". Usopp flipped out squirming on the floor. I grinned and watched him flop around like a fish in amusement. Dalton said once he stopped.
"Doctor Kureha is the only doctor we have. But she is still a women I prefer to stay away from". Well, she is a so called witch that is 140 years old, how can someone live that long and still move a normal human speeds. I mean, she has to come down to treat the people, right? Dalton told us we had to wait and Sanji disagreed. I did, we can't wait! Luffy walked over and I looked at him, he was tapping her face with his hand and telling her to wake. I slapped a hand to my forehead as Vivi, Usopp and Sanji screamed at him.
"Here is the thing, the only way to see the doctor is to climb the mountain". Luffy was telling her as she woke up. I nodded in agreement, finally some way to help! I stood up and cracked my neck. "So we're gonna climb the mountain". Sanji snapped.
"Are you crazy?! What about Nami, how do you expect to get her up there"? I sighed and zipped up my coat again making sure it was snug around me. I looked at Nami's face getting more red. Luffy said.
"Easy, she'll ride on my back". Vivi snapped at him.
"That's just going to make her more sick"! I frowned and said, stuffing my hands in my jacket pockets.
"Nothing else to do here. Luffy's right, we can't wait, this is serious and the truth Nami will die if we don't get a doctor. So I'll help climb the stupid mountain". Sanji looked lost. He felt this was a bad idea, but since I was a girl he didn't want to say so. I swear, his sexism is too much.
They were arguing and Vivi said. "There has to be a better way". I frowned at her and asked.
"Really? There is no other way, princess, I rather chance it then watch her die in this damn bed"! Usopp said.
"That's not a good risk"! I was about to argue, but stopped at Nami's harsh breathing. I walked closer to her and Luffy did the same. Her voice was low.
"Come on, captain, let's go". I grinned with Luffy as they slapped palms gently. I leaned closer.
"Nami, we'll get you that doctor". She gave me a tired smile.
"I know, my heart's beating". I felt my face redden, so she did remember me from my dream then. I looked away from her. I said.
"We'll I wait outside". I waved them off, pushed passed Vivi, Usopp and Sanji and walked outside. Leaning against the house, I waited. A couple minutes later they came out, Vivi tying Nami on Luffy's back. Usopp said.
"Luffy, you can't drop Nami, not even once". Luffy was shocked.
"Not even once"?! I shook my head.
"No. I'll keep her on my back if I have to". Luffy nodded.
"Ok". Vivi said.
"I'll stay here, I'll only get in the way if I go with you". I sighed.
"Yeah, we need to get there and fast, but careful at the same time". They nodded and Dalton said.
"So you're going, I can't stop you, but you have to go on the other side, the Lapins are over here". I frowned, that would take too long. He told us that they were rabbits. I snorted, like I can't take on rabbits! Luffy ran ahead.
"Come on, Mace! Sanji! Before Nami dies"! My eyebrow twitched as we chased after him and Sanji said not to say stuff like that. We ran toward the mountains. Luffy said.
"it's gotten a little colder, the wind speed is higher"! Sanji snapped as I tightened my face, the wind was sting my eyes.
"Then put on some better shoes! Looking at your feet is painful"! Luffy disagreed.
"No way! This is my police". I snapped my head to look at him and laughed, my voice getting lost in the wind. I said.
"You mean policy right"?! He said back to me.
"Eh, same thing". Sanji snapped.
"No, it's not"! Luffy said.
"Hey! Did you guys know this, people in snow places don't sleep at all". Where'd hear that? Sanji asked.
"Huh, why"? So…Sanji believes him? Luffy replied.
"Because if they do, they'll freeze to death". I rolled my eyes and ran ahead a little.
"That's not true, everything needs sleep". He shook his head.
"Nah, that's just because you sleep all the time". I glared.
"So what"?! Sanji butted in.
"Mace darling is right on that, people need to sleep at some time". Luffy shook his head.
"No, it's true someone told me"! Sanji snorted.
"Who, Usopp"? That is believable if you think about it. Luffy said.
"No! A pub in my village". Really? I was not there for that one. I jumped onto something furry that almost collided with us. I wonder what it was, a bear or something? We went forward anyway. Sanji asked.
"Fine, answer me this, Why does that Dalton guy have a bed for"? I jumped away from the save fuzzy thing and my feet landed in the snow, sending it everywhere. Luffy answered his question.
"For when he dies"! Sanji told him that was stupid as we jumped over this large tree in our way. I said.
"Come on Luffy, that's insane. If someone is going to have a bed for death it will have to look like Mihawk's boat. Coffin like". Sanji gaped at me, shocked I was going along with Luffy. Luffy said.
"They can always get people to build the coffin around the bed". I nodded, that's true. I shook my head.
"But! The beds are for sleeping, not dying Luffy! That's why when people say I'm going to be they mean I'm going to sleep, not I'm going to die". Luffy looked lost and it was quiet, Nami's heavy breathing making me nervous. Sanji said.
"Did you know women in snow islands have skin as smooth as silk". Luffy asked why and Sanji said.
"Isn't it obvious, when it's really cold women rub their skin until it's smooth and the white snow makes it that color". I shook my head at the horrible logic and said.
"No, the real reason there skin is really white is because it always snows and the sun barely shows". Sanji cooed.
"Mace! You so smart"! I'll just pretend I didn't hear that. We jumped over the stupid furry thing again. I was getting a bit annoyed. Sanji kicked it away, getting rid of it.
"Good riddance". We ran a little faster and I ducked my head, the wind even stronger. We were getting some distance to the mountain though. Sanji said.
"Nami, hand on a little while longer! We're going to get you a doctor"! I was almost marching in the snow as I ran, the know reaching over my ankles. Luffy said.
"The snow is getting really deep over here". I nodded.
"Yeah, not kidding, be careful Luffy, walking hard could disturb her". He nodded.
"Yeah I know, got that". Sanji agreed with me.
"Luffy! Run a little easier, you're making it hard on Nami". They stopped and I said.
"Not his fault, he can't control snow fal-what the hell"!? I was looking at like white oversized animals with glowing red eyes. Sanji asked.
"What is that"?! Luffy said.
"They are big and white! They must be Polar Bears"! I slapped a hand to my face. I said.
"Polar Bears don't have floppy ears, Luf. Uh, I think they're the Lapins Dalton was talking about" Luffy blinked, confused and Sanji's eyes lit up.
"Oh yeah, now I remember". It jumped at him and Sanji jumped out of the way.
"There sure are a lot of them". Sanji mused out loud. A hand was on the hilt of my sword. There were about over 20 of them. I scratched the back of my head and summed up our situation it two words.
"This sucks".

Line break into Nami's Point of View
I was woken up by the fever; I don't know what happening right now. My head hurts, my insides feels like they were carved out and am hot right now and cold. I looked around and smiled tiredly. All my Nakama was lying around the room. I don't know why I'm surprised. Luffy had a painting corner stuck in his forehead, his foot in Usopp face, Zoro in the middle and Sanji must be outside. She saw Mace in the corner, leaning against the wall, breathing deeply.
She was about to just fall in bed because she just did not feel good, but she heard her name.
"N-nami". She looked at Mace, she was shivering. Tossing her head around and shoulders jerking, but she was not crying. She woke with a gasp and grabbed her hair, not knowing she was being watched. Nami called out.
"Mace? She felt dazed and unwell, it must have showed that. Mace stared at her scared look in her eye. It shocked her, she never seen Mace scared. It cleared her mind a little. Mace walked over from her knees and leaned on the bed. She made a face like she thought of something and then sat on the edge of the bed.
Nami was confused when she saw Mace move toward her, but she did nothing. When Mace, put an ear to her chest, she felt the small tremors in her shoulders and she seemed to be looking for something and Nami lightly petted her hair, the shaking stopped.
She pushed Nami on the bed gently, something she never thought she could be and Nami closed her eyes feeling the darkness, the last thing she felt was a cool cloth on her burning forehead.

Well, this will be my actual last update for a while I have school Tuesday and I'm doing work all day today at the library, so I don't know when the next update will be, but I did get to my goal. To actually get to Drum Kingdom Arc before Winter Break ended and it did! I'm proud of myself!
I looked back and could not believe I did two Christmas specials for one story! I forgot about Oda's birthday, so happy birthday to him for making my life complete! Hope you liked this, don't know the next update!
The way she is treating Nami, that is pure Nakamaship, not Yuri! I repeat, not Yuri! When Mace gets close to people, she gets close, you'll see that later, Nami was on the brink of death and Mace was freaked out and fearful for someone she almost considers family to be dying, Sabo all over again.
